Hi Mohammad,
My understanding regarding this is, like Atributes are theoritically characteristics themselves. You can use already created Chars as attributes for other Chars or you create a new attribute in a chars then after they appear as a chars. So actualy we are arranging them according to their dependency. Now you have choices, if you need a attribute which has attribute only property or you want to create a attribute which if you need you can make as navigational.

Hi Rizwan,
If the equipment type characteristic u r creating as independent then there is a option in master data/ text data, where u can select the check box for text. then this characteristic u can provide with text. By default it is alwys ticked.

i think you can work this way too, write some ABAP code in ur start outine to select all the data for Equipment Type = 'E', I' and 'M'. This way u can load data only for these types, by which whne u repot on , u would get only the required data, rataher than loading the whole data and then restricting at the report level.If u feel this should work, u can contact me for the ABAP code.

REgarding licensing issues involvng 'Computername' and the use of UpperCase4 vs Lowercase Letters

Does any one know if it would cause problems for the Office 365 software license to be displayed as licensed to an ALL CAPS name like 'MY-FAVORITE-PC' but the computer itself shows the computer name to be 'my-favorite-pc"?
If it does, which one should I change? A couple of people here have had this same problem (which usually occurs when they change to using a different PC for their account) I have to Deactivate their Old PC namer and then install the licnse to
their New OC using whatever name it has.
On more than one system, this has resulted in various odd "failure to contact Microsoft server" issues when activating. The problem continues for 7 days and then their copy of Office starts showing reed warning bards and eventually gets totally
unusable.
However, if I uninstall the office, deactivate the license, and reinstall it once again, it install just fine and acts ok but invariably at some point, the same thing occurs.
On one of them I noticed the difference in the case of the letters used in the computer name and the license name. On others I am wondering about various software add ins for Outlook or some other 3rd part application causing the problem. Whatever
it is, it gets extremely annoying. Officer 365 apparently must run an activation sequence almost constantly while Office 2010 (and I presume 2013) ran it once and were done with it.
Searching Google I have found too many possible reasons along with a lot of people who have had the same problems but no one seems to have the 100% solution. This has only started happening since we switched to Office 365 and only
seems to occur on systems that are changed out to different ones with the same User's 365 Account which is in good standing and has 5 available licenses of which only one is in use.
In the case of the caps vs lowercase I also wonder if changing the name to CAPS on their PC would create additional problems on its own?

Regarding Consignment Issue

Hi Friends,
I have a question regarding consignment issue. During the consignment fill up I have entered a material (machine) that is configurable and also assigned a serial number to it. Now when I try to create an order (consignment issue) and enter the corresponding serial number tied up to the machine in Consignment fillup, the system is taking just the higher level item of the BOM. The BOM is not getting exploded in the order. Can anyone please suggest where I can control. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I don't think it will b exploded in Consignment Issue as it has already exploded in Consignment fill up. Consignment issue means what selling the stock which is at consignee's place so it dose not have to b exploded. u carr on like that and see what is the flow if it is ok then go on otherwise u let me know the problem.

Regarding Performance Issue in MI Application

We have made a SmartSync MI Application.Everything thing is working fine.But the scenario is this that when we try to navigate through the application from one page to another ,for example if i click on one link to get details corresponding to that link(i.e) we are retreiving the data from the local database, but this is taking a lot of time and according to our buisness need we have to reduce this time to fetch the data.
Can anyone help me regarding this issue what can be done either in coding part, what parameters & standards to follow to improve the performance.

if you are only focusing on your application's performance
on the aspect of usability i.e. less waiting time, fast
response UI, i would personally suggest you to use AJAX.
put some processing part on the browser side and making
data retrieval from MI asynchronous... this way, your user
don't have to wait for all data to be presented, but rather
could work on the data presented in pieces (i.e. asynchronously).

Powerpivot 2013 doesn't work on Excel 2013 / Office 365: data model issue

Hi guys
I recently upgraded my Office 2010 to Office 365, with Excel 2013. Before installing Office 365 I uninstalled Office 2010. I'm running Windows 8 64 bits.
I have the Powerpivot 2013 add-in, I can activate it without any issue. However when I click on "manage" on any spreadsheet (including new empty ones) I have an error "We
couldn't load the Data Model. This may be because the Data Model in this workbook is damaged.", followed by "PowerPivot is unable to load the Data Model".
I tried to repair the installation to no avail. I tried to launch excel in admin mode, nothing better.
This issue seems to be shared by some other people on this forum but
with no satisfactory answer so far.
I had a SQL server 2012 plugin installed previously which I uninstalled as well, but no change.
Would you think of something else?

Get WorkStatus from the other model issue (EPMWorkStatus)

I’ve faced an issue with EPMWorkStatus formula. What I have:
       Two categories, let’s call them C1 and C2. C2 is a copy of C1 (was copied with standard copy package)
       In C1 there are some work statuses assigned
       In C2 there are no work statuses assigned yet
       I have two models, let’s call them M1 and M2. Work statuses are configured only for one model – M1. And the driver dimension presents only in M1 model
       Dimensions involved in work status assignment are Category (C type dimension), Time (T type dimension), P_PROJECT (U type dimension) and the driver dimension WFSTATUS (U type dimension)
         I have 3 statuses, let’s call them s1, s2, s3 (in this order)
       I have 2 connections: one to connect to M1 (let’s call it Connection1) and the other to connect to M2 (Connection2)
I have workbook saved in M2. And I need to get work status with EPMWorkStatus formula from model M1. It seems to be a pretty easy task – just to point “M1” (model name) in “Connection name” parameter of the EPMWorkStatus formula:
=EPMWorkStatus(M1,0,”C2”,[any Time dim base member], [any P_PROJECT dim base member],[any WFSTATUS dim base member])
But I faced an issue. The formula returns value “s3” though there are no work statuses set for C2 category because I just created it. And there’re also no records for C2 category in generated work status table for the model M1 (I checked it at SE16 transaction). That is the formula should have returned “s1” value.
I made some investigations and found out that if I connect using Connection1 (then change active connection to Connection2), then I got the correct results. But if I connect using Connection2, I always have the incorrect results. Even if I connect using Connection2 and then change active connection to Connection1 I have the incorrect results as well. So the results depend of what connection I used to log on (“Log on” button in Excel EPM tab).
I also found out that received status from the EPM formula when I connect to Connection2 depends of the status I have in the same scope for category C1. That is if I have “s1” status for C1 category, I will have “s1” status for C2 category.
How can I get the work status from the other connection?

Macbook Pro (Late 2011 model issue)

I purchased my Macbook pro (late 2011 Model) a couple of months back, towards the end of last year. Staright after i had purchased it, and had got it delivered i experienced cracking and clicking noises coming from within the Hinge of the Macbook. And got it replaced for a brand new one as i was still within the 2 weeks prior to purchase, as the apple policy states i was eligible to get a new if i had any problems. So i did. And the brand new replacement macbook pro that i have NOW has the same problem. Ever since i got the other one replaced THIS ONE has the problem or rather much worse, Cracking and clicking noises everywhere whenever i handle the notebook or carry it there is cracking noises everywhere. Whenever i open and close the screen lid, UP or Down. There is loud clicking noises coming from inside, sounds like something is breaking. This is totally unacceptable. First macbook had issue, replaced it, And now replaced Macbook pro is much worse. Since i had it replaced i havent had time to come bring it in. It still bears the same preoblem and is getting worse!

You're just going to have to take it into your local Apple Store. They won't replace again but you're still within your one-year warranty so they will certainly repair. I have the same model and have not have any of the problems that you describe.

Regarding goods issue

Dear GUrus,
I am issuing raw material against a production order.
the BOM for the finished material is
to produce one qty of FG 30 KG of raw material is required
and the raw material available in my store is only 10KG. and it still allows me to issue that 10kg of raw material against that production order.(I am doing this with movement type 261)
Where as the requirement from my user is that the system should issue an error msg that there is deficit of raw material quantity.
Please look into the matter adn throw some light as to how do i set this in the system.

Check with your user, if they are OK with this -
Release of Production order is possible only if all components exist i.e. full qty. If they are OK with that, then go to OPJK for the plant - order type - business function (2) combination set Release Material indicator to 3.
This will prevent the order being released due to shortage of component qty.

Regarding goods issue (reversal) against process order

Dear friends,
Recently i have noticed one strange thing in SAP.I have created one process order and against it i have done the confirmation.Now when i go to Transaction code mb1a and select movement type 262 (Goods Issue to process order-reversal) and give the storage location and in next screen i gave order number,material code and its qty.These material code is not maintained in the bom of order header material.And even in process order in material tab we haven't maintained this material.Also while doing the confirmation in goods movement we haven't maintained this material.Then also system allows me to do so.Which means material which i haven't issued against the process order, system is allowing me to do its reversal i.e (262).because of which system is creating the stock for that material, which is not correct.
Can we control this behaviour of system.

This is fact and there is no standard Control available for the same.Only thing you can do is put control over Movement type 262 or try it by implementing User Exit.
I am not sure but you can use Enhancement CCOWB001 - Customer exit for modifying menu entries.
Include is LXCOWBF01.
