Regarding navigation

Hi Experts,
I have one master report and one detail report.
Master report contains 5 columns in that on column contains count of customers.
when user clicks on the count of customers value it will take him to the detail report where he can see the details of the number of customers of the master report.
but here i am getting all the customer details irrespiective of count in the master report.

Hi Bhargav,
In the detail report give a filter is prompted for all the dimensions used in master report.
For example, if your master report contains dim1,dim2 and measure 1 then in the detail report give the filters with dim1 and dim2 as is prompted.

i have recently migrated from obiee 10g to 11g.
after migration the naviagation is not working.
i have implemented navigation in 10 g in which on clicking one report it naviagate to another report also drilling down.
but in 11g it is not happening.
please help me to solve this problem.

Please check the navigation is given properly or not.
Just move to the criteria of the request and click required column by which you want to navigate. In the column properties of the request there is option naming INTERACTION in that option you will find "Add action link"-> BI content and then just select required request or the required dashboard page. it will navigate on it.

Regarding Navigation buttons

Dear All,
I tried following code for use Navigation buttons. But it not working. It gives error "Object reference not set to instance of an object" Can anybody tell me what is wrong in that or any file want to include for that or is there another method for use Navigation buttons?

Regarding Navigation Style in UWL

Hi All,
I am using EP7 and SP09 . In this version, UWL iView property Navigation style has only two value as None, Tab. Here I need one more value as icon. When I change Navigation style as icon, it should show icon instead of Tab(For Tasks, Alerts, Notification etc.). How can I achive it?.

This isn't a configurable option as far as I know, so your only alternative is to code your own version of UWL... or possibly adapt the current UWL code if you can find the DCs to import to NWDI.

Regarding Navigation Cache

Hi All,
Can anybody have implemented custom navigation connector to resolve the issue with navigation cache. Here we are facing the issue with Navigation Cache when we are using PCD filters, there is a conflict when we use both.
What I am trying to do is I want to implement one custom navigation connector from that code I want to disable the cache for groups or roles coming under PCD filter. Can anybody please let me know is there any possibilities to do like that? if yes, could you please guide me how to proceed? I have gone through the below links but I did not get any help with those.

Regarding navigation from Interface View

Hi All,
i am trying to pass data from one component to other component via exposing the interface view controller of second component to 1st component via Used Webdynpro Component concept.
I am able to navigate from one component view to 2nd component view with the action of fireplug from 1st to 2nd. but i am not able to do
vise versa.
What i got, after embedding the 2nd view in the 1st component window, inbound plug is created automatically. If in the same view(embedded interface view) i try to place out bound plug i m not able to do. how to get this navigation from 2nd view to 1st view.
Please help me out.

now to do vis versa you have to do all this things for other component. I mean expose 2nd component via Used WD component concept. now embed 1st view in 2nd component window. just reverse of what you did till now.
and take a view set where in first view area show the first navigation, and in the second view area of view set show the second navigation.

Query regarding navigation in OBIEE.

I haver another report 2 with columns
d e c
I want if any value of column c in report 1 is clicked, it should navigate to report2.
Also I want all the filters selected in report 1 should be carried to report 2.
Please suggest how to do this.

I don't want column c to be prompted in any of my report.
Column c is the sales fact . I want to see the distribution of sales fact among the sales reps in my report2 where report 1 shows sales at region level.
in report 1 i have qte=r and product as prompts which i want to carry to report2 .

Regarding Navigation Flow of Topics in Robohelp 11

1. As, i have added previous and Next Topic buttons in my robohelp 11 chm, yet i am facing a flow issue.
2. The flow issue is:
-> While the chm file is generated, in the TOC pane of chm as shown in the image below:
the arrow buttons in the highlighted image above are not working according to the toc flow.
As, suppose i first click on Start page -> New features -> Recommended System Prerequisites, and now i wish to navigate directly top Start Page then it is creating a problem as the buttons doesn't work for the same. please help.

Yes i am first generating a Webhelp as my Primary Layout, and then from the webhelp i am generating chm file, i also imported skin in it, and done all the necessary settings required.
Thus, also validated the Browse Sequences, but the issue is that the navigation halts with in the Book.
As, shown in the above image if i navigates from New Features Topic -> Recommended System Prerequisites -> Installation Procedure, then if i wish to go back to New Features by clicking arrow buttons(<- and ->), then the navigation halts in mid at the respective book name that is Getting Started only.

Transports issue regarding navigational attribute

Hi,
I used to have some navigational attribues in somecubes and Multiprovider but as per the latest requirement from the customer again converted them as display attributes in masterdata so that automatically removed from cubes and multiprovider with out even our interventions as we know..
So assigned to transport request and transporting into further systems then we r getting error as
"Navigation attribute XYZ does not (actively) exist
Message no. R7748"
but when i do check of cube it does not give any error but when i am transporting it is again loooking for those navigational attributes in target system..
I am not sure why it is giving problem like this ...Just i am guessing is it because i did not remove navigational attribute flag first from cube instead of just master data directly ...but that should not be a problem as per my knowledge...
Can any experts reply to me asap if you come accross this kind of problem ....

Editted as I understand the solution now.
If you want to delete navigational attributes from a multi provider, cube and master data it needs to be done in the order:
- remove navigational attribute from MultiProvider
- remove navigational attribute from Cube
- set navigational attribute to be display attribute on InfoObject
If you don't follow this order e.g. just set navigational attribute to be a navigational attribute on master data then you get problem where every time you transport cube it says nav. attribute is inactive even though (as far as you can see) the nav. attribute does not exist.
btw, if you have dug yourself into a hole then you need to re-create the navigational attribute on the InfoObject and then add it back to the cube and multiprovider - transport this and then follow correct order.

Regarding navigation profile

what is differnce between logical links ,work centre links,direct links group, work center link group???which is used when???

Keep this in mind as you're learning the system. The Navigation Bar configuration can be daunting at first.
For me, I first came to realize that all links on the Navigation Bar are logical links. A logical link is required to access anything from the Navigation bar, whether it is a standard component, transaction launcher, etc.
Then, Direct link groups and Work Center link groups are nothing more than ways to "group" logical links and then assign them to the navigation bar so they can be accessed.
For example, In your navigation bar, you must assign Work Centers so you can see first level navigation menu items.
A work center can have a logical link itself, and does not require a work center link group (there is no second level menu items). However, if you want second level navigation, you need to assign a work center link group to the work center.
The work center link group is a "grouping" of related logical links (can have one or more).
So in essense, all you really have are logical links. Direct link groups and work center link groups are the method used to group and assign logical links to the navigation bar.

Navigation within a pop-up window.

I have a question regarding navigation within a pop-up window.
The pop-up window is generated as below, the component usage is defined in the runtime repository for the main window.

Within the component, there are two views defined and assigned to that window. If the component is tested by itself navigation is possible in the usual manner using a navigational link, clicking the button calls the outbound plug, then the inbound plug then the bsp page and then the screen changes to show the new view, this uses the following code
CALL METHOD op_toamendrep( ).
Then in the outbound plug:-
me->view_manager->navigate( source_rep_view = me->rep_view
                              outbound_plug   = 'ToAmendRepresentative' ).
However when the same chain of events is actioned in the pop-up, the navigational link is called the plugs are called and the associated BSP code is run through in the debugger, but the actual screen in the pop-up window is still shows the first view, not the second as we would expect.
Can you please help me to resolve this issue?

I had the same issue and I found turning off safai extensions fixed the issue. Must be an extension that's causing this problem.

Master-Detail and Detail-SubDetail navigation.

Hi!
I am facing an issue regarding navigation in a second (subDetail) level child table.
I have Master-Detail-subDetail like lilnks of three VOs.
I have created 2 VLs for Master-Detail and Detail-SubDetail.
Now on my custom page, navigation is fine for Master-Details but for 2nd level navigation between Details-SubDetails is dependent on SingleSelection that i have used to display related reocrds in SubDetail table.
Is there any way to display subDetails automatically (without using single selection) just like in Master-Detaills. Or at least on page load it display related records in all the tablelayouts.
I'm using Header Layout for Master , Table layout for both Deatil and Sub Details VOs.

How to use Navigational attributes in BEx

Hi experts,
I have searched many threads regarding navigational attributes in BEX.
But unable to find any info.
How the navigational attributes are used in BEx query designer.
What is the difference between characteristics and Nav attr in Query designer.
Every one n saying Nav attr are used for drill down purpose.
What exactly is this drill down .
Please send me any related documents also.

Hi,
Characteristic attributes can be converted into navigation attributes. They can be selected in the query in exactly the same way as the characteristics for an InfoCube. In this case, a new edge/dimension is added to the InfoCube. During the data selection for the query, the data manager connects the InfoProvider and the master data table (u2018joinu2019) in order to fill the Query.
Navigational attribute is like any other master data attribute except that we can navigate (filter, drill down and selection) in reports on this characteristic.
Drilldown means after you executed the query , you want to see further detailed data with particular combination ,
in that case you navigate further or do restiction that is drilldown.
If you restict a navigational attribute in Query , then it behaves like a normal characteristic and not as a navigation attribute.

Backward Navigation in development components

Hi folks
According to my scenario, i have 3 DC's named A, B, C.
A is master DC and is using B as used DC's in metadata . where B is using DC C. So there is linear dependency between them.
Now my requirement is to navigate from A to C through B.and vice versa.
Default inbound interface plugs of B and C are used to navigate forward by A and B respectively.
Now direct backward navigation is possible up to second level through Out Plug of Interface Controllers i.e from B to A and C to B respectively.
My Requirement is backward navigation from C to A without creating cyclic dependency and using dc C in dc A.
I have more than 3 development components which have to navigate back to dc A.

This is a good piece of information but regarding navigation nothing is provided.
Here author is using ViewContainerUiElement in consumer for other components which i can not use because i have buttons in views on action of which i am preforming some methods and passing context values to other components.
If i use ViewContainerUiElement still i have to navigate using plugout of interface controllers. i can not directly navigate directly coz it will not pass the context to next component.
Any idea
