Regarding Peoplesoft HCM Client

Hi all
I will like to ask what shall I install in a client desktop? Must I install
PeopleSoft PeopleTools 8.52 Client Only
PeopleSoft PeopleTools 8.52 Verity
PeopleSoft Human Capital Management 9.1 Feature Pack 2
Is it that I install Client Only will do or I still have to install PeopleSoft Human Capital Management 9.1 Feature Pack 2? Can someone please assist me?
Another problem what is PeopleSoft Human Capital Management 9.1 Feature Pack 2 about and different from PeopleSoft PeopleTools 8.52 Client Only? I think it might be an easy answer for you guys, but I am new to oracle and confused as well as not sure what is it about. I sincerely need you guys for help.
Thanks.

Hi Nicolas
I already have one server and client on one desktop for PeopleSoft. Is there a need to duplicate another client only to access to the server database?
I read thread on Why is Oracle Client needed?
and what do you mean by this Without Oracle client, you cannot access to the database. Without acces to the database, you cannot run sql (if you do customization - new or modification of existing). Without access to the database, you cannot run DMS (import/export/update/delete...).
What do you mean in this sentence: you cannot run sql (if you do customization - new or modification of existing)you cannot run sql (if you do customization - new or modification of existing)
Thanks.

  • PeopleSoft HCM 9.1 OVM in a single VirtualBox guest machine

Following a suggestion from Jim Marion in an earlier post in this forum, I started installing the PeopleSoft HCM 9.1 OVM using a single VirtualBox guest. The PeopleSoft OVM appliances are delivered as two separate virtual machines, one for the DB and another for the PIA/App-Batch. Since I am running on a 4 GB RAM laptop I wanted to conserve memory by installing on a single virtual machine.
As I was starting to figure out the changes needed in the configuration scripts, for example creating a symbolic link instead of an nfs mount for PS_APP_HOME, I got a surprise. Lo and behold, the good folks at Oracle had already thought of this! In the oraclevm-template.sh there is an environment variable VBOX_SETUP that is set if the script detects the existance of both PS_DB_HOME and PS_HOME. This triggers the installation of all the tiers -- DB, App-Batch, PIA -- on a single machine. With a few tweaks I was able to get a fully functioning HCM environment with a single execution of the setup script.
The starting point for installing PeopleSoft OVMs on VirtualBox is these two blog posts:
    [url http://jjmpsj.blogspot.com/2012/05/converting-peoplesoft-ovm-templates-to.html]
    [url http://jjmpsj.blogspot.com/2012/06/converting-peopletools-ovm-template-to.html]
Since I was only using a single virtual guest I mounted all the file systems at once. Here are the entries (excluding the System images which are only mounted temporarily as explained in Jim's blog posts):
    in VirtualBox:
    SATA Port 1: Oracle11gR2.vdi (Normal, 4.41 GB)
    SATA Port 2: HCMDB.vdi (Normal, 26.38 GB)
    SATA Port 3: Tools.vdi (Normal, 11.25 GB)
    in /etc/fstab:
    /dev/sdb1               /u01                    ext3    defaults        1 3
    /dev/sdc1               /opt/oracle/psft/ptdb   ext3    defaults        1 4
/dev/sdd1               /opt/oracle/psft/pt     ext3    defaults        1 5I commented out the ovm_set_password and ovm_configure_network steps in /u01/scripts/db-reconfig.sh since I had manually set up a static IP on my guest. (Note: this script no longer bothers checking for or setting up oracleasm so you don't need to worry about that). I also uncommented the DEBUG_PSFT_OVM variable in the /opt/oracle/psft/vm/oraclevm-template-utils.sh script. Doing this bypasses the root password reset and networking configuration in the oraclevm-template.sh script.
I modified the .bash_profile script for psadm1, psadm2 and psadm3 to use the ORACLE_SID that the setup script discovered based on the contents of $PSFT_DB_HOME/oradata and added $PS_HOME/setup to the PATH for COBOL compiles:
    # psft env vars
    export PS_APP_HOME=/opt/oracle/psft/pt/apptools
    export PS_CFG_HOME=/home/psadm2/psft/pt/8.52
    export ORACLE_BASE=/opt/oracle/psft/pt/oracle-client
    export ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_BASE/11.2.0.x
    export ORACLE_SID=HR91C323
    export TUXDIR=/opt/oracle/psft/pt/bea/tuxedo
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$TUXDIR/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/lib
    . /opt/oracle/psft/pt/tools/psconfig.sh
    export PATH=$TUXDIR/bin:$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PS_HOME/setup
    export LANG=C
    export COBDIR=/opt/oracle/psft/pt/cobol/svrexp-51_wp4-64bit
    export PATH=$PATH:$COBDIR/bin
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:$COBDIR/lib(Just a note on the beauty of VirtualBox: I didn't figure out all the above in a single step. But by taking some snapshots of my virtual machine I was able to go back and start over with a minimum of fuss.)
I still had a few errors after I got a clean run of /opt/oracle/psft/vm/oraclevm-template.sh:
<li>The app engine VERSION program failed because it didn't pick up the PS_SERVER_CFG variable. The variable is set in the script so I'm still trying to figure out what happened.
<li>The ovm_dbusers.sql failed on a couple of statements with insufficient privileges. It is run as SYSADM and may need to be run as sysdba.
<li>The ovm_ib.sql script had a unique constraint error on an insert into psibsvcsetup. Since the row already exists this should probably be an update.
These were minor issues that were easily resolved after the instance was up.
I have started making changes to further reduce the footprint of the VM: lower weblogic min/max heap size to 128m, don't start PSAESRV in the batch server, don't start Analytic and Query servers in the app server, lower the sga_target and pga_aggregate_target in the db server, etc.
These PeopleSoft OVM templates are a fantastic way to get started with an up-to-date, well configured PeopleSoft application.

    Hi,
To keep all my peoplesoft servers on a virtual environnement i will use Oracle Database 11.1.0.6 for x86_64 (64 bit) with Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.2 template and install on it the peoplesoft CRM. it's a good idea ? Yes, why not.
But you could also want to minimize the number of virtual machines running in your env by adding the CRM database into the existing Peoplesoft OVM database server, check if there is enough space to host this CRM db in addition of the running HR db, if not you could increase the space or add a new disk.
and which files from http://edelivery.oracle.com i should use to install peoplesoft CRM database ?
You'll only need to download PeopleSoft Enterprise Customer Relationship Management 9.1 application, part number V17881-01 from "PeopleSoft Enterprise - Customer Relationship Management 9.1 Media Pack".
sorry for those question i'm still beginner in peoplesoft. No problem, Peoplesoft is not so easy software anyway.
    HTH,
    Nicolas.

    Thierry,
I am curious to know about Fusion. I heard that Oracle Reports and Forms will not be used from R12 onwards. Is it so ?
And anything new that we need to improve ourselves against the Fusion Application ?
Any interesting new features for HRMS in Fusion ?

  • Peoplesoft HCM Interface with SAP?

We planned to implement the SAP HR module, together with the SAP EAM, SAP SCM and SAP FI in a project that was supposed to Go-Live last year.
The HR Dept was using Peoplesoft HCM previously.

  • Peoplesoft HCM 9.1/Oracle 11g installation on Windows 7

    Hello All,
I am trying to install Peoplesoft HCM 9.1 / Oracle 11g on windows 7 64-bit platform ( laptop).
So far, I installed the loopback adapter and then installed Oracle 11g database enterprose version successfully. I can login to the database via SQL Developer.
    I have couple of questions...
    1. Since I am installing everything on the same m/c , will i still need to install oracle client?
    2. Do I need both 32 bit and 64 bit client ?
    3. If I need client, do they go into the same location where the Oracle 11g database sits ?
Thanks for all your help in advance!

  • Query Regarding Oracle Database Client

    Hello,
I'm new to ORACLE and Intented to become Oracle Developer and DBA. I've question regarding Oracle Database Client software.
I know that there is Oracle Database server software but what is this Oracle Database Client. Is there any need to Install it on client machine as client mostly access the database use application software mainly develope in Java or C# etc. So, what is it need.
and one more question regarding SQL *Plus. Is it client process or server process as I learnent that it is client process and if it is. Is it can be part of Oracle Database Client. and can we seperately install the Oracle Database Client on machine on which DB server is aslo Installed.
    Looking for reply.
    Regards,
    Danish Kamran

Certainly you are not mentioning the Oracle version, it is very important. Whenever you post a question reference the oracle version. There is a disk known as the oracle Client (10gR1, 10gR2 and 11gR1), this disk contains all required software to setup a client environment. If you are working with clients such as Java or C# you must have either the jdcb client driver (Jjava) or the ODBC software to access the database, this is included in the Oracle client disk.
    Instant Client
There are other options for the client, you can install the instant client, this option allows you to install only the drivers without the Oracle utilities, this is particular useful if you are deploying third party applications and you don't want to install the complete client disk.
    SQLPlus
SQL*Plus is a client application that runs on the client side, when you open a session it requests an Oracle server process to be executed on the server side. Once the session has been successfully setup then you can issue SQL commands from the client side. You should be aware that even if you launch SQL*Plus from the server side you will be working with two processes, one for the client and the second one for the oracle server. This connection mode is also known as dedicated server, but you should be aware that there is another connection mode known as shared server, I won't explain it since it already goes off topic.

  • Degree Date not mapped into Peoplesoft HCM 9.2

We have installed PeopleSoft HCM 9.2 and People Tools 8.53.We are using PeopleSoft HCM 9.2 Demo database in our test environment. We have integrated our Resume Parsing solution with PeopleSoft HCM 9.2.Our Parser is capable of extracting degree date from the resume content. We are finding issue with Mapping "Degree Date" into respective field.
We are trying to Map the "Degree date" as field in Degree section in Poeplesoft HCM system using HR XML mapping  as per Recruiting_Solutions_9_2_Integrations_Setup.pdf documentation.
    XML LOCATION                 : Candidate.Resume.StructuredXMLResume.EducationHistory.SchoolOrInstitution.Degree.DegreeDate
DATA OBJECT LOCATION  : CandidateItems.. JPM_DATE_6
    RECORD LOCATION           : HRS_APP_ITEMS. JPM_DATE_6
Oracle Recruiting solution document says "Degree Date" is mapped to "HRS_APP_ITEMS.JPM_DATE_6" field in Peoplesoft HCM 9.2 Application. (Please Refer page no 65 ).
We are finding that this mapping is not happening as expected
Does anyone know how to resolve the issue ?

As stated in the following doc, this issue has been solved in PeopleTools 8.53.04 patch

What is the easyiest way to do this? we prefer not to direct querying the database.
    Thank you for your help.

Did nobody did this already? To bad, thought that Oracle Portal was large implemented over the world today haha

  • Can Peoplesoft HCM 9.2 can be integrated with Oracle HR Analytics?

    Hi All,
Please help me understand if Peoplesoft HCM 9.2 can be integrated with Oracle HR Analytics? If so what is the latest Version  for that.
What is the road map for that.
    Thanks in Advance
    J Smith

Normally, Oracle will lag behind in certifying the latest PSoft releases...however, we are using OBIA 7964 with PSoft FSCM 9.2 using the 9.1 SDE adaptors.  It seems to work fine.  In general, its best to ensure the version is certified but you can ask Oracle support if the 9.1 adaptor can be used for 9.2 HCM.  If there are not significant structural changes for the tables in PSoft, it may work.  As for the dates for certification, Oracle would have to assist with that.  We have asked about FSCM 9.2 4 months ago and it is still not certfied.
    Pls mark correct...

Yes, I'm working for a client where dev was on HPUX and prod on AIX.
Whether in most of cases that's not a problem, you could have some specifities by OS of course, e.g. OS patches to be applied, OS configuration, same for database level.
All together, that can mean some bugs or dysfunctions cannot be reproduced outside the prod env, or the other way around, you could hit some bugs in dev which do not exists in prod. I've seen that, and that's rather annoying and does not make the thing easier to maintain.
That's always better, as most as possible, to keep all the way on the same track.
    Nicolas.
