Transactions used to monitor the Process chains
    RSPCM
    SE38 >/SSA/BWT or ST13>BW-TOOLS
--> clic on execute --> select the process chains radio button --> execute
--> click on process chains -->if you want to monitor the specific process chain enter the process chain id or if you want to monitor the process chains that are running in a particular date and time interval simply enter the values and click on execute...
it will display the process chains status and time of the runs etc...

  • Problem with a process chain transport

    Hi all,
I have a problem with a process chain transport, I transport it but when I see the changes in testing environment I don’t see it, I did it four times but nothing happen and I don’t have errors.
Can anybody tell me how to transport a process chain.
    Thanks.

    Hi Federico,
When you tranport Process Chains, initially chains will be available under "Not Asigned" node in RSPC Transaction. The transported chains wont be get highlighted automatically. Manually need to open the chain in update mode and activate it on Quality.
Hope it will help you to resolve the problem.

  • APD to include in Process Chains

    Hi All.
I just want to run Analysis Process Designer PROCESS through process Chains. Can u please guide me how to perform this.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Some you can keep and some you can't keep in PCs. For APD if you use database table and application server then it is Ok to keep it in Process Chains.

  • Process chain errors

    Hi all,
I have a question regarding the 'process chain'. Here is my business scenario:
--<b>I loaded data into ODS and then loaded from ODS to the Cube.</b> I created the infopackage for ODS with the 'full load' and 'immediately load' one month ago. Now I tried to create the 'process chain' for this infopackage. However I got an error message-process loading has no preprocessor. Do anyone know why?
--In this scenario, when I created one infopackage for ODS, do I need to add the cube in the 'data target' tab of the scheduler? If not, can anyone tell me how can the cube upload data periodically?
Thank you for whoever share the experience.

    Hi john,
There are two ways of loading data from ODS to the cube.
    1. By creating Export data source and creating infosource with this export data source and with the corresponding update rule and infopackage u can load the corresponding cube.
    2. The option "Update data targets from ODS object automatically" in the setting of the ODS. If any of the cubes are updated by ODS and in the ODS setting the above check mark is checked, then as soon as the data is loaded into ODS, the cube is also updated.
I always prefer the first option cos it gives me more details about the load and you can monitor it in a better way..
you can post for further clearance of ur doubt.

  • Why process chain activation is taking more time?

    Hi BW Gurus,
I am going to activate the process chain, but it takes more time to activate the process chain . What may be the reasons ?
    Regards,
    Raju

    Hi,
Process chain activation becomes slow due to the following reasons.
1)Large no of entities in RSPCCHAIN Table i.e, there is  lot of process chains and very large process chains.
2)There is a missing index for the RSPCCHAIN Table.
Solution for this problem is  we have to create an index for the following fields of the RSPCCHAIN table.
    EVENT_GREEN
    EVENT_PGREEN
    EVENT_RED
    EVENT_PRED
Still  if you want further clarification on this , Refer the following sap notes.

  • Process chain Types.

    Hi Gurus,
Can some one explainhow many process chain types are there in sap bw3.5.I searched in forums. But i didnt get answer.
    Regards
    Arun

    Hi ,
    Process chain types are two.
    1) direct chain : meanns single chain
    2) meta chain:    Process chains can be scheduled as processes in additional process chains, which are known as meta chains. If the process chain you want to execute is in another system, use the process type Process Chain Remote, called remote process chain in the following. A remote process chain is a local process in the calling system that calls a process chain in this system, using a destination in another system, that is to be executed there. The remote process chain communicates with the other system and synchronously starts the executed process chain. After terminating the process chain in another system, this is reported back to the meta chain in the calling system.

    dear sir,
i hope all are doing great, this is the message regarding the issue with process chain in sap-bw(from application server)
i'm trying to load data from flat file to ods and infocube parallely, i've created the infocube and ods object and i've also created the respective infopackages and copied the name of infopackages.
i've created the process chain and in monitoring i.e. rspcm when i'm adding the process chain the status in not green its a yellow triangle.
apart from that i'm getting an error message saying that- objects have been locked by the sapuser.
please do help me to get rid of this issue.
please do send me the related documents regarding the process chains, that would help me to understand the concept.
    thank you.

  • Reg: Process Chain, query performance tuning steps

    Hi All,
I come across a question like,  There is a process chain of 20 processes.out of which 5 processes are completed at the 6th step error occured and it cannot be rectified. I should start the chain again from the 7th step.If i go to a prticular step i can do that particular step, How can i start the entair chain again from step 7.i know that i need to use a function module but i dont know the name of FM. Please somebody help me out.
Please let me know the steps involved in query performance tuning and aggregate tuning.
    Thanks & Regards
    Omkar.K

    Hi,
    Process Chain
Method 1 (when it fails in a step/request)
    /people/siegfried.szameitat/blog/2006/02/26/restarting-processchains
How is it possible to restart a process chain at a failed step/request?
Sometimes, it doesn't help to just set a request to green status in order to run the process chain from that step on to the end.
You need to set the failed request/step to green in the database as well as you need to raise the event that will force the process chain to run to the end from the next request/step on.
Therefore you need to open the messages of a failed step by right clicking on it and selecting 'display messages'.
In the opened popup click on the tab 'Chain'.
In a parallel session goto transaction se16 for table rspcprocesslog and display the entries with the following selections:
    1. copy the variant from the popup to the variante of table rspcprocesslog
    2. copy the instance from the popup to the instance of table rspcprocesslog
    3. copy the start date from the popup to the batchdate of table rspcprocesslog
Press F8 to display the entries of table rspcprocesslog.
Now open another session and goto transaction se37. Enter RSPC_PROCESS_FINISH as the name of the function module and run the fm in test mode.
Now copy the entries of table rspcprocesslog to the input parameters of the function module like described as follows:
    1. rspcprocesslog-log_id -> i_logid
    2. rspcprocesslog-type -> i_type
    3. rspcprocesslog-variante -> i_variant
    4. rspcprocesslog-instance -> i_instance
    5. enter 'G' for parameter i_state (sets the status to green).
Now press F8 to run the fm.
Now the actual process will be set to green and the following process in the chain will be started and the chain can run to the end.
Of course you can also set the state of a specific step in the chain to any other possible value like 'R' = ended with errors, 'F' = finished, 'X' = cancelled ....
Check out the value help on field rspcprocesslog-state in transaction se16 for the possible values.
    Query performance tuning
    General tips
    Using aggregates and compression.
Using  less and complex cell definitions if possible.
    1. Avoid using too many nav. attr
    2. Avoid RKF and CKF
    3. Many chars in row.
    By using T-codes ST03 or ST03N
Go to transaction ST03 > switch to expert mode > from left side menu > and there in system load history and distribution for a particual day > check query execution time.
    /people/andreas.vogel/blog/2007/04/08/statistical-records-part-4-how-to-read-st03n-datasets-from-db-in-nw2004
    /people/andreas.vogel/blog/2007/03/16/how-to-read-st03n-datasets-from-db
Try table rsddstats to get the statistics
Using cache memoery will decrease the loading time of the report.
Run reporting agent at night and sending results to email. This will ensure use of OLAP cache. So later report execution will retrieve the result faster from the OLAP cache.
    Also try
    1.  Use different parameters in ST03 to see the two important parameters aggregation ratio and records transferred to F/E to DB selected.
    2. Use the program SAP_INFOCUBE_DESIGNS (Performance of BW infocubes) to see the aggregation ratio for the cube. If the cube does not appear in the list of this report, try to run RSRV checks on the cube and aggregates.
Go to SE38 > Run the program SAP_INFOCUBE_DESIGNS
It will shown dimension Vs Fact tables Size in percent. If you mean speed of queries on a cube as performance metric of cube, measure query runtime.
    3. --- sign is the valuation of the aggregate. You can say -3 is the valuation of the aggregate design and usage. ++ means that its compression is good and access is also more (in effect, performance is good). If you check its compression ratio, it must be good. -- means the compression ratio is not so good and access is also not so good (performance is not so good). The more is the positives...more is useful the aggregate and more it satisfies the number of queries. The greater the number of minus signs, the worse the evaluation of the aggregate. The larger the number of plus signs, the better the evaluation of the aggregate.
if "-----" then it means it just an overhead. Aggregate can potentially be deleted and "+++++" means Aggregate is potentially very useful.
    Refer.

    4. Run your query in RSRT and run the query in the debug mode. Select "Display Aggregates Found" and "Do not use cache" in the debug mode. This will tell you if it hit any aggregates while running. If it does not show any aggregates, you might want to redesign your aggregates for the query.
Also your query performance can depend upon criteria and since you have given selection only on one infoprovider...just check if you are selecting huge amount of data in the report
Check for the query read mode in RSRT.(whether its A,X or H)..advisable read mode is X.
    5. In BI 7 statistics need to be activated for ST03 and BI admin cockpit to work.
By implementing BW Statistics Business Content - you need to install, feed data and through ready made reports which for analysis.

You can go to T-Code DB20 which gives you all the performance related information like
    Partitions
    Databases
    Schemas
    Buffer Pools
    Tablespaces etc
use tool RSDDK_CHECK_AGGREGATE in se38 to check for the corrupt aggregates
If aggregates contain incorrect data, you must regenerate them.

  • Info Package in Process Chain - Performance Issue

    Dear All,
We have some Info Package in Process Chain which when triggered initially turns red, then again yellow, after sometime red/green. These status keeps changing and finally results in green status. These infopackage takes 15-30 mins to complete.
And the info package error message shows "Processing time overdue". The chain runs daily and this issue also occurs on a daily basis.
Does anyone one of you have an idea of how to deal with this performance issue?
    Regards.

    Hi
    As you said--
"initially time out time was set to 10 mins, so it was turning red at 10 mins. Later i changed it to 30 mins, then it is turning red at 30 mins, this info package takes maximum 20 mins to complete.
thatsy i asked whether there will be any problem if we remove this time out time."
I guess, its not mandatory to include the timeout value. Just try to execute the IP without entering the timeout value.
    It should work.
Let me know if this helps.

  • Regarding "Delete Index" process in the process chain.

    Hi Gurus
In the process chain, I have Delete Index -> Load Info pacakge -> Create Index process in the above order.
I am loading few records, so no need to delete indexes everytime. Can i remove the "Delete Index" process from the Chain without deleting the Create Index process. Or do I have to delete both.
Could you please clarify my doubt if possible in detail.
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    aarthi

With the numbers you provided, you probably don't need to have the steps.  With Oracle (not sure about all the other DB flavors) there are some other considerations:
Not having the indexes when loading the data can improve the load time since the bitmap indexes are not very efficient with respect to inserts/updates. The more dimensions you have, the more indexes there will be and the more noticable the impact of having the indexes present when loading.
The drop index process only drops the F fact table indexes.  If you compress your cubes regularly so that you don't have many uncompressed requests, the index rebuild time will remain small, but if you have many uncompressed requests in your cube, the index rebuild time can begin to exceed whatever time you might save on the load with indexes deleted.
With bitmap indexes present, you can also occasionally receive a ORA-0600 deadlock error during the load process, and that can be prevented by dropping the indexes before loading or chose the load option packet by packet so that two packets are not trying to update the same index block at the same time.
Another concern in shops where reporting on the cube might occur during the load process - if you drop indexes prior to a load, any one trying to run a query on teh cube could have poor query performance since all the indexes will be missing onthe F fact table, this agina becomes more apparent the more data you have in the uncompressed fact table.
So it really comes down to your environment, but certainly drop the indexes any time you have large loads.
