Regarding publishing query inside a role in pfcg

Hello All..
I currenlty created a role in pfcg in BW system,.
In role I have assigned object S_RS_COMP,S_RS_COMP1...
In BEX Analyzer,i then published a query to that role.
After publishing the same , i was able to see query in the role.
I assigned this role to the user.
When user tries to execute the query,the web browser opens up.
Can u pls let me know why this is happening...

Ajit,
The Internet Graphics Server (IGS) is a Server-based engine for generating graphical and non-graphical content
Without this properly installed, the web content will can not be displayed.
BW_IGS_CHART_TEST is a program which tells if IGS is installed properly or not.
Please check the path of the query.
Also note that using this link you can only access the web query and not BEx query.
For BEx query you'll have to type RRMX and proceed. Double clicking on the link would only open the web page and not BEx.

Publising the query in the role.

Hello experts,
Requirement:
I was asked to assign an existing queryin the system to a particular role which is also already existing.
Action Performed:
I have published the query in the BEX query designer in the specified role with Publish in role option.
Issue:
I am able to see the query in the role in PFCG(ZS_XX_BEX_MENU ) .
But the same i am unable to see in Query designer when I try to open the query from the role in which I publised.
I come out BEX and logged in again but still i am unable to see the query in the role.
Could ayone help me to reslove this issue.

Yo can go to the open queries in the query designer->just click (highlight) the query and then click on the third option from the left it is assign to the role.
It wil take you to the all the role options.
just click on your particular role and say creat.
it will assign the query to that role.
you can chjeck it in the roles tab.
Also can try this
try S_RS_FOLD to give the possibility to select query from Infoarea

Authorizations for Publishing a Query in a Role

Gurus,
I have S_USER_AGR (activity as: 01, 02, 03 06, 78) and S_RS_TOOLS as webpublish and Themes...but my users are not able to Publish a Query to a Role from Query Designer in a Edit mode, but they were able to add the Query to a Role using "Enter in Role" button from BEx pop up screen...what Authorizations I am missing in my role?
And also in QA and Production how can the Power Users can publish a Query or a Wrk book to a Role without editing a Query or Work book?
Can some one share their thoughts..

Hi,
I also facing same issue in Query designer. Unable to publish the roles in query designer. It is showing no roles assigned to you error mesg. I have added this object and given the * values. Then the problem is solved.
Please user s_user_agr object with activity * and values *. They will get access to publish to roles, portals and broadcasting in query designer.

I created query in Bex Query Designer.
I have to add this query to a Role Menu(query is implemented in BEx Web, I don't want to use WAD, Analyzer or Report Designer)

Hi,
In the Query Designer tool bar, you will see Create, Open, save, save as, delete and Publlish Icon.Next to the publish Icon, you will see downward arrow. If you click that, then it will show Publish in Role, Publish in portal/.If you click 'publish In Portal' then it will show you roles available and choose the role and save it.
Or else you can even do in PFCG.
Assign Points if this solves your problem.

Can anyone please let me know how to add a query to a role in Bw 3.x.

You may do that in production or transport the same from dev to prod (depende on your landscape).
You just need to go to anlyzer and add/publish the same in user role. You may check the same pfcg tcode.

Assigning different authorizations inside a role to different users

Hello,
Could someone please guide me to how can we assign different authorizations (authorizations field values) for an authorization object inside a role to different users; i.e. in the role maintenance transaction (pfcg) after we create a new role and add an authorization object to it, if this authorization object has several authorizations (authorization field values), and if I need to add two users to that role, how can I assign to one user an authorization different from that assigned to the other user ?

Hi Reda,
That documentation complicates the subject slightly as it is talking about principles that are at a lower level than the usual role level.
We have 1 authorisation object - S_TRVL_BKS
Authorisations have been created for this object, called S_TRVL_CUS1 and S_TRVL_CUS2
In this context, an authorisation is an instance of an authorisation object that has been populated with data.
Before the profile generator you used to create authorisations (auth objects populated with data) and assign them to profiles which are then assigned to users.
In this example 2 profiles would be needed
Profile1: S_TRVL_CUS1 and S_TRVL_CUS2
Profile2: S_TRVL_CUS2
Miller would be assigned profile1, Meyers would be assigned profile2
The profile generator allows us to easily build authorisations and profiles and packages them up in a role. This way, we can assign transactions and authorisation objects into a role, populate the authorisations (which is what we do in the authorisations tab in the role) and automatically create the profile.
The example in the documentation is still valid because it requires 2 seperate authorisations (and therefore profiles and roles) to be assigned to different people. Unfortunately this is not explained very well in the documentation.
I hope that makes sense, roles are static and the permissions that they give do not vary dynamically. In BW we can use variables to do something similar and to some extent structural authorisations in HR work dynamically however this doesn't apply to R/3 or ECC. (it can be done in come cases but costs many, many £££/$$$'s)

Assign queries to authorization role via PFCG maintenace

Hi,
I would like to assign several queries to existing authorization roles.
Therefore I am using the transaction PFCG > maintain the menu > add "other" SAP BW Query URL and fill in the name as well as object description.
However, the new query will not be shown in the BEx Analyzer in the role folder.
What do I have to administrate that the query will be shown in the role menu (BEx Analyzer)?

thanks for your reply.
As an authorization administrator for SAP BI I do have the authorization for S_USER_AGR already.
I am just testing in our development system.
However, the query will not appear in the BEx Analyzer while selecting "Open Query" and search in "Roles".
As far as I know queries could provided to authorization roles via BEx Analyzer.
But does no possibility exists to maintain the authorization role via PFCG?

How to unassign query from a role

I have wrongly published a query in a role through query designer 2 times. Can you pls suggest how to unassign the query from that role, Your quick response will be appreciated.

Use Tcode PFCG and there you can delete th query from the role. Then the query gets deleted only from that role view. Then you can assign it to the new role.

Mass roles deletetion (PFCG ?)

I'd like to do a mass roles deletetion as : "all client roles begining with ZFI* ".
I did nt see anything with : PFCG, SE16 on TSTCT, SE38 (abaps like "PFCG*"),...

you use sap standard authorization object and not reporting authorization object that we create.
using PFCG create a role and assign with authorization object s_rs_comp twice, one combination of with display(02) and query = * and the other change and az*.
you may need s_rs_comp1 also, take a look this how to doc

In 4.6x you used Role for each users and SAP will generate the necessary profiles and authorizations.
PFCG - Basic Maintenance
Type in a meaningful ZXXX role name and click Create
Menu -> Transaction (insert all the transaction code for this role)
Authorization -> Change authorization data -> Generate
You can create a customizing role in PFCG:
in the menu tab utilities/customizing auth; you can use a project IMG (maintainable in SPRO) to restrict the authorizations for example to FI or CO.

Error publishing Query designer report to Web

Hi all,
I am facing error after executing the query in query designer in BI 7. The query fails to open in web and points to standard url:

Initially I have configured the web connectivity using the How to guide and carried out config in SMICM as well as SICF (activating BW node). If I enter the url from SMICM manually in IE, it would prompt for user/password for BI server and successfully logs on.
The issue only lies when publishing query from Query designer to web. Please advise if I have missed out some config here.

Search Help Error while Publishing Query in Explorer

Hi All,
We have upgraded BW from version 3.1 to BI 7.0. SP level is 15. When we publish query in Explorer, selection screen appears, we get error in selecting variable(Fiscal Year/Period) entries from search help. After selecting a value from a list of possible entries, the format is changed on the screen.
For example:
If we select 002.2002 for variable FiscalYear/Period, we get
002 02 i.e. it is truncating 20 from 2002.
Now, we have to manually enter the values.
While executing query in BEx analyser, no such error occurs.
What will be the solution?

Regarding ABAP Query authorization group

Hi Team,
This is regarding ABAP Query!
I have created one authorization group, for testing i have assigned my id in authorization group.
After creation of ABAP query,standard program got generated. Now i have created one transaction code at the last for the ABAP Query.
Now the isse is even though i have deleted my id from the authorization group. I am able to execute the query from SQ01 and with the Transaction code .
It should not happen...i want who soever id is mapped to the transaction code ...that member should only be able to run that query, otherwise there is no use of authorization group.
Please help me out in this case.

Are you sure that you don't have access to that authorisation group? Execute report RSUSR002. In the 'Authorization Object 1' block inform S_TABU_DIS in 'Auth.Object' and accept. Then inform Activity=03 and Auth.Gruop= your group.
You will get a list of all the users which, theoretically, will be able to execute the query. If you press 'Roles' or 'Profiles' in the toolbar of the listing you will get to know why you have authorisation. May be you have the SAP_ALL profile.
Also, one more thing to take into account: how have you created your transaction? Is it referring directly to the generated report? Then it is an error, you should execute program SAP_QUERY_CALL. Read this post: [Relate transaction to query;

Inclusion of query in the role?

Hi,
i had created a new query , which does not have any role so far!
Now i was asked to include this query in a role! But when i check role button in query designer it says :"you are not assigned to any role"
What can be done to include the new query in the role given to me?

To assign a query you need to have a role ,to have role you need to have a separate user name with u r profile, so first find out whether u r assigned with one single user and that should be assigned with some roles ..if u dont have a role ask u r basis consultant to create role ,so that u can assign queries to a role.
i hope it will help u ,...
for more clear information...say whether u r running u r system in real environment or not ,if not u can directly create a role,username also by urself...

Query assigned to role. Doesnt execute when try to execute from under role

Hi Experts,
We have some queries assigned to a role in PFCG.
Now the anomaly is as follows:
some of the queries that are assigned, do not show any technical names in the Bex role window. When we click on these queries under this role, nothing happens. no execution, nothing.
The same queries if executed from under the Infoareas->infoprovider->query path, execute correctly.
This would point to incorrect assignments in PFCG, BUT thats not the case.

What are we missing here?

The query name is correct. The assignment seems to be correct too.
But for this particular assignment, the bex role doesnt show a technical name for the query. neither does the query execute.
Why don't the assignment via PFCG work?
