Regarding Reconstuct in BI7

I have an issue that ,wn the data is invalid we can delete the requests from the data target and we can reconstruct the same from PSA. Where as I am working in BI7 if the requests fails that will not be available in Reconstruct TAB in the Manage of the screen of CUBE. Even I didnu2019t understand the usage of reconstruct in BI7?

This function is only necessary for InfoCubes that obtained their data from InfoPackages. Only the InfoPackage requests are displayed. For InfoCubes that were loaded with a data transfer process, also supply other objects with this data using data transfer processes
You can select an InfoCube, an InfoSource, a time frame or a source system, where all the requests that have already been loaded for your selection are displayed. You can choose individual requests, and use them to reconstruct the InfoCube.
You can start loading or scheduling the InfoCube immediately in the background, or set it so that it is triggered by an event.
If the requests contained in the InfoCube were already rolled up in aggregates or in BI accelerator indexes, you can no longer use these requests for reconstructing. Only the last (uppermost) requests can be used for reconstruction.

Schedule Info package in background

Hi,
When I schedule my info package in background mode, it should schedule the job with my BW back ground user .
BW user is the back ground user in mysystem. But my Process Overview shows that it is scheduled as Dialogue there by utiling my dialogue processers.
Kindly let me know the reason behind it.

Ok, for bi7, this is the way it works...
when you run an IP in background it will execute a dialog process on the BW side. this process is needed to execute (send the outbound messages) the background job on the R/3 part (with the BW remote user)... in prior releases a background job was also running on the BW side as long as the R/3 load was running, but with the bi7 adaptations it takes less place on bw side, hence performance has improved...

I have some doubts..
How the PSA gets generated??
I mean does it contain ALL the fields which are there in data source????
Bcz, in my Data source i have 130 fields, in Transfer rules 135 fields has been mapped..
In PSA i have 87 fields...
i am bit confused, please guide.

BI7.0 is downward compatible.....
it supports both 3.x as well as 7.0 and as far as objects are concerned infoobjects , cubes , DSOs etc are not affected by BI7.0

Regarding BI7 Data sources

Hi
I have replicated the data sources in BI7 for SD and fincial after activating them in R/3.
Now i am getting only Emulated version of data sources. Means 3.X version of data sources , all have square mark on data source name.
Please let me know how i will get BI7 data sources, Or does Data sources exist in bi7 version or not if they exist in bi7 version they why i am not getting them.

3.x DataSource
In the past, DataSources have been known in the BI system under the object type R3TR ISFS; in the case of SAP source systems, they are DataSource replicates. The transfer of data from this type of DataSource (referred to as 3.x DataSources ) is only possible if the 3.x DataSource is assigned to a 3.x InfoSource and the fields of the 3.x DataSource are assigned to 3.x InfoSource InfoObjects in transfer structure maintenance. A PSA table is generated when the 3.x transfer rules are activated, thus activating the 3.x transfer structure. Data can be loaded into this PSA table.
If your dataflow is modeled using objects that are based on the old concept (3.x InfoSources, 3.x transfer rules, 3.x update rules) and the process design is built on these objects, you can continue to work with 3.x DataSources when transferring data into BI from a source system.
DataSource in 7.0
As of SAP NetWeaver 7.0, a new object concept is available for DataSources. It is used in conjunction with the changed objects concepts in data flow and process design (transformation, InfoPackage for loading to the PSA, data transfer process for data distribution within BI). The object type for a DataSource in the new concept - called DataSource in the following - is R3TR RSDS.
When you activate the DataSource, the system generates a PSA table in the entry layer of BI. You can then load data into the PSA. You use an InfoPackage to specify the selection parameters for loading data into the PSA. In the transformation, you determine how the fields of the are assigned to the BI InfoObjects. Data transfer processes facilitate the further distribution of data from the PSA to other targets. The rules that you set in the transformation are applied here.
There fore got to transaction code RSDS or right click on the 3x data source and then go with MIGRATE
Main menu Datasource -> "Migrate 3.x datasource -> datasource" select with export datasource.
After do soo , always go with export so that the meta data will match the existing 3x data source to the new 7 x data source

In BI7.0, I have to load data from the Business content ODS, 0FIGL_O02 to Customized ODS by restricting the data as per the document types.
Do we have that feature in BI7, to restrict the data in info package maintenance's selection criteria.Please let me know, when we dont have that feature...where can i apply this restriction for loading one data target to another data target.

In BI 7.0 you will be using DTPs to load data from one DSO to the other. There will be no Infopackages involved.
You can filter based on Document types in two ways.
1. Build the filter in the start routine of your transformation itself to delete datapackage whenever document type is not equal to what you want.
2. DTPs have a filter button. When you go in change mode you will be able to choose the infoobjects on which you want to filter. You can enter the required Document types in the filter here.

Problem is remain same.
I run the reports in Portal BI 7.0
from the portal report there is a icon which is used to export into excel.For this i clicked on export into excel and it came perfectly and am using 2003 excel.
Where as my client using the microsoft office 97 version and he also able to run the reports in portal and while exporting the data into export excel.They are not getting the format correctly...
But they are telling that last couple of month they are getting correcyly in Excel 97 why dont this time?
Please suggest me do they need to do some settings from their end??
Its high importnaancey for me.......please help me with your ideas

How are you ?. I was trying to create open hub destination by giving the name and description, but when I select the template name as infocube and giving the name 0SD_C03 is not accepting and saying invalid template.
Is there any settings that I have missed apart from this to make it run successful. Can you please shed some light on this.

To create an OHD in BI 7.0, you need to create an OHD.
In this you need to follow the steps.
1. Select what data ( Infoobjects from 0SD_C03) you want to extract.
2. Create a transformation between this Open Hub destination and the 0SD_C03.
3. Create a DTP.
4. Execute the DTP to get the data extracted.

Delta not working after upgrade from 3.5 to BI7.0

Hello All,
We have recently upgraded from BW3.5 to BI7.0 and the standard delta is not working now after the upgade. The name of the Extractor is 0CRM_SALES_ACT_1.
Did anyone come across this problem before or can anyone suggest the solution.

Hi Madhu,
I've experienced a similar problem with this extractor. I attempted to Initialize Delta with Data Transfer to no avail. The job ran for 12+ hours and stayed in "yellow" status (0 records extracted). The following steps worked for me:
1. Initialize Delta without Data Transfer
2. Run Delta Update
3. Run Full Update and Indicate Request as Repair Request
Worked like a champ, data load finished in less than 2 minutes.

How to write a formula in BEX in bi7.0
Create a formula variable of replacement path on service order creation date say ZSCRE
Create a customer exit variable and populate sy-datum into it in the user exit of CMOD say ZSYDAT
or
There is one standard variable available as key date in BEX you can use that too.
Create a formula or CKF :
Age days = ZSYDAT - ZSCRE.

BCS Short Dumps after Upgrade (3.5 to BI7)

Hi SDN,
We have recently upgraded our dev system from BW3.5 to BW 7 (SEM BW 6) and following the upgrade none of the queries based on the BCS virtual info provider(Remote Cube) ZVBCS01 are working or the listcube transaction on cube ZVBCS01 in RSA1.
Both the queries and listcube short dump with DATREF_NOT_ASSIGNED (Details "DATREF_NOT_ASSIGNED" "SAPLUCR0" "LUCR0U08" "PROVIDE_SEM_DATA_TABLE_3")
We have raised a call with SAP OSS they recommended to activate the InfoObject 0BCS_REPMOD from business content and regenerate the data basis. We did all this but still experience the short dumps. (We havenu2019t assigned 0BCS_REPMOD to any Infoproviders or the data basis)
We will be unable to upgrade to BI7 unless we can resolve this issue so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the responses, we have managed to get BCS working now following the upgrade.
Following the activation of the business content, I had to regen the Data Basis but the way I did it originally wasnu2019t enough to force a regeneration. So I had to make a small change to the data basis (move of field names and back again) which was enough to do the re-gen.
We have experienced quite a few issues with the upgrade from SEM 4 to 6.

Problem with Java Script after upgrade from BW 3.5 to BI7

Dear Colleagues,
We're facing the issue with Java Script after upgrade of BW 3.5 to BI7.
Just after update we checked the basic functionality and it occured that some of web templates that use Java Script don't work. They generate seelction screen, but after selection the screen becomes blank without any error messages.
We're currently stucked since web templates weren't converted to BI7 version so they should work exactly as before the upgrade.
We compared the Java code with other environment that was not upgraded - it's perfectly the same.
The only explanation that comes to my mind is that some Java Script settings on the server level were changed during the upgrade but I have no idea where I can check that.

Unfortunately, http cache clean-up did not help. But there is another funny thing I found - for exactly the same 3.5 webtemplate html code returned from WebAS 3.5 was different then from 7.0.
