Hi,
We are running 12.0.4 EBS version. I want to clear the reports cache directory (/apps/oracle/PROD/inst/apps/PROD_glapp/logs/ora/10.1.2/reports/cache). It has large number of PDF and XML files. How can I delete them since 'rm' command is giving error 'Argument list too long'.
Is same process for clearing reports cache can be used to clear the concurrent cache. It also has large number of out put and log files.
Regards,
Farhan AliFor concurrent manager, you should be running the job "Purge Concurrent Request and/or Manager Data Program " as described in "Concurrent Processing - Purge Concurrent Request and/or Manager Data Program (FNDCPPUR)" [ID 104282.1]
For Reports cache, please review "Reports Cache Directory in Oracle E-Business R12 is Growing Rapidly" [ID 859255.1] as following this note should allow the files to be controlled automatically in future
With regards to your specific question, the issue is with the "rm" command not being able to cope with the number of files. One easy way to deal with it, is to provide a shortened list to the rm command... for example
rm a*.pdf
rm b*.pdf
rm z*.pdf
You could automate this slightly, but I would be nervous to do so without testing, and it will surely be quicker to type the rm command multiple times than to write and test a script :)
Hope this helps

Custom assembly & Report Caching
Our reports are using a custom assembly which encapsulates some common functionality. The problem is that report caching stopped working since we've implemented this cahnge.
We can still activate caching via "Manage processing options" --> "Use cached data"... but it doesn't work. Reports are using live data instead of cache.
Any idea?
Thank you in advance.Hi stanhe,
Based on the limited information you provide, we cannot figure out what happened for the cache. Here are some suggestions you can do first:
Check the cache config from reporting service database as the steps:
1. Find the [Path] value of the issued report from table [dbo].[Catalog],
2. Execute the stored procedure GetCacheOptions with the [Path] as parameter value.
If there is no result returned, it means the report use the live data. You can try to clear the cache of the browser and reopen the web to re-configure the cache.
If there is a cache setting, check whether the setting is correct or not and whether you have configure any cache refresh plans.
If you do confirm that all the cache settings are correct but the report still uses the live data, please provide more detailed information for us to trouble shoot as:
1. What is the custom assembly and how it is used in your report.
2. Your database and reporting services version.
3. All the configurations in "Manage processing options" page and "Manage cache refresh plans" page.

Thanks,
SandeepWHich version of BO do you use? Go into the CMC navigate to Servers and check the Metrics section of your Central management server. There should be a version number like x.y.z.w there. Can you please post it here?

Clear Reports cache after running report
Hi
Is there any way I can programmatically clear the reports cache on the 9iAS server once the report has been run ?
I am using web.show etc in my forms and would like to delete the report once I exit the form.
I have the jobid - but how does that relate to the physical file on the disk ?
Ideas anyone ?
AndrewI am having the same problem.
I manage a database with highly confidential data that has forced me to implement a Virtual private database (VPD) on Database 9i release 2.
Once users run their reports, copies are saved on the reports cache on Oracle9iAS. The reports in the cache can be viewed by anyone who knows the URL http://my9iASserver_name:7778/reports/rwservlet/getjobid1?server=myrepserver_name
without the need of authentication (username and password).
This negates the work I have done on the VPD, moreover everyone including the intenal auditors think that the system is bogus since a user can access information that does not belong to them without being restricted.
The solution I require is either to bypass the reports cache (or any other cache involeved including the web cache), or if this is impossible, then a program to delete any report as it hits the cache. So that at any given second, the reports cache is empty.
I am also aware that the minimum time you can schedule a task on the windows scheduler is 1 minute which is too much.
At this time, my focus is not the performance of the Oracle9iAS but its security and management does not care how slow it becomes as long as it is secure
Your help is appreciated -
Regarding report painter/writer
I have a problem regarding REPORT WRITER AND REPORT PAINTER. I have to develop a report based on transaction -
CK13 in report painter. I am new to this area of reporting. How could I insert new tables in the library as I do not find a table or structure based on this transaction where I can find activity type, quantity and value in object currency.
Report format -
Material Activity type Vvalue in object currency.Hi,
Try standard reports in GRR3 with library 7*. Relevant tables/structure could be KKBE, KKBC, & KKBU. Copy and modify the same.

Hello,
we have the phenomena that when an application is commiting a transaction and then terminating,
often not all events regarding Data Cache are dispatched by the TCP kodo.RemoteCommitProvider.
It seems that the JVM on termination is not waiting until RemoteCommitProvider has dispatched all events regarding Data
Cache. In this way we sometimes loose some cache synchronization and some of our customers run into serious problems.
Is there a way to guarantee that all Data Cache events are dispatched before the aplciation terminates
(maybe implementing a shutdown hook?).
best regards

Wuerth-Phoenix SRLHi,
as nobody answered to my question I try to explain it more simple:
Are the TCP-kodo.RemoteCommitProvider threads acting as user threads or as threads of type 'deamon' ?
I hope that soon someon can answer

Disable caching without turning off the Report Cache?
We don't want to turn off report caching for ALL reports, but we have a group of reports that we do not want to cache... is it possible to set this through the report builder somewhere manually? Or some other way?
Thanks,
Terri-LynnI think that EXPIRATION is a better option here.

Hi All,
Now i am working in Production system.
How can i check the performance for reports.
How can i find the report performance is low/high?
Please let me know the details.
Thanks
Vasu.Hi Vasu,
Use the search on the word "performance", you will got lot of answers which are related to queries.
There are lot of factrors involved regarding query performance :
1. Install BW stats and analyze the queries
2. Option of using aggregates is a good idea to consider
3. you can multi providers to do reporting for better query performance
4. Query Read Mode - Read when navigating and expanding hierarchies
5. Check if indices under ORACLE are degenerated. OSS Note 323090
OLAP Cache OSS Note # 456068
Also take a look to the OSS Note 567746 'Composite note BW 3.x performance: Query & Web' in which you can find all the info required...

Hi All,
Can anybody have implemented custom navigation connector to resolve the issue with navigation cache. Here we are facing the issue with Navigation Cache when we are using PCD filters, there is a conflict when we use both.
What I am trying to do is I want to implement one custom navigation connector from that code I want to disable the cache for groups or roles coming under PCD filter. Can anybody please let me know is there any possibilities to do like that? if yes, could you please guide me how to proceed? I have gone through the below links but I did not get any help with those.
1) Be Careful When Combining Navigation Cache, PCD Filter

I have a developer who is working on a 10g paper report when he makes a modification to the report and moves it to the App Server it doesn't run the new report but keeps running the old version of the report. If the reports server is restarted or he waits until the next day to test the report the new version of the report will run. Is there some parameter that controls the caching of a report (not the output)?
hi
are you talking of oracle reports or portal reports.

Regarding Report for Tax Returns Details
Dear Experts...
to check the report of tax returns I am using "Zstar" T-code,
i have given the respective values i.e.,
Company code
Region
Form
Fiscal year
Posting Period
and then by clicking on execute i can find some values in value excluding vat, vat due (in sales) and value excluding vat , vat claimed( in purchases)
My question is from where these values are picking and help me out to check effect of the related documents.
For reference i have attached the screen shot.
Note: i haven't maintained any values in my testing client, but i can find values in my production client.
Thanks & Regards
SreelathaHello,
TCd. Zstar which you use is not an SAP standard transaction, as far as I know.
So it is not possible to tell you, what data is read by the program.
You have to check this with colleague who has done the programming.
Thank you for your understanding.
