Regarding selction options in infopackage

Dear experts,
I want to filter from source 5000 Purchase orders for load (Since loading all will dramatically increase the load time and not needed)
Is it possible for me to restrict it for 5000 POs at infopackage level? Is manual entry the only way or I can do it by loading a file containing the PO list or by selecting from a list..

If you have specific number range , then you can write Routine in InfoPackage for PO char.

I have created the parameters in the BEx Query.
I have choosen the option for parameters like Single value, selection and Interval.
Now I have created a crystal report using above BEx query.

Select-options won't work if you declare the program as Module POOL.
if you wants to use select-options like utility in module pool programming
use ranges
declare and develop ranges and use that in select statement where condition.

Regarding the routine in infopackage

Hi Experts,
I have an infopackage with only full load update,i am loading a daily load into the target with that ..now what i want to know is that i want to create a routine in infopackage so that it deletes the previous day data automatically ..so that if i am loading todays data it wont be duplicated..so can any one give me the code and step by step ways to do that ..i would appreciate the answers and assign maximum points for the valuable one...

If it is going to be full load, you have some options like:-
a. At Infopackage Level:- Under the data-targets tab, you have a check box for deleting the targets contents before loading, if you check that tab, the data will be deleted automatically before loading.
But beware that ALL data will be deleted and only today's data will remain there.
b. Process Chains:- If your selections are same, you can use a process type "Delete Overlapping Request" in the process chain, and it will delete the contents before reloading them.

then i have wriiten a qery like this

but it is failing(bczo s2_lfart is not initial).then how to write the correct query .

Hi Padma,
remove the = because of this the Select-option is working as parameter and your select-query is looking for the lfart = SAPCE in the DB, which it can't found so it is failing.

Detete content of the cube option in infopackage not visible

Hi All,
We are using BW7.0. I have a requirement and where I have to create infopackge and DTP. When I load every time it has deleted the content of the Cube and load the data to the data target. I have the option to delete the content of the cube in the process types of process chains. But I donu2019t want to use the process chain and with out process chain I need to achieve this requirement.
Can any one suggest me to achieve this?

Hello,
Please note that with BI 7 the concept of data loading has changed.
The infopackage no longer pertains to the data target.
So there is no way of achieving this using infopackage.
Its SAP recommended methodology to use process chain. Any reasons why you cant use it.

Hi praveena,
if you want to send messages when the infopackage is successful, this can be done in the process chains.
Steps are as follows:
create process chain to include the Infopackage (IP) for which you want to send
   message
Right click on the IP , create message. pop up will come asking you when the
   message should be sent seolect when it is successful
Create variant for sending message and maintain the receipient list (email IDs)
with this you can send messages.

Definition
You can define complex selections for InfoPackages and control the automatic deletion of requests from InfoCubes in the scheduler, by using routines.
Routines are processing blocks in ABAP programs that consist of a pre-defined data declaration section and an ABAP subroutine (form routine). In the subroutine you can use all of the ABAP programming functions.
You can use the following routines for making selections in InfoPackages:
1. Selection routines for fields, on the Data Selection tab page
2. Selection routines for file names, on the External Data tab page
3. Selection Routines for selecting the from and to dates for time-dependent data, on tab page Update

Procedure
Make the following entries:
1. Between $$ begin of global ... and $$ end of global ... you can define data declarations. These are the declaration sections for the local data in the routine. This data is only visible in the routines.
2. The subroutines begin with FORM and end with ENDFORM.
The subroutines for the particular routines are:
Selection routines for fields on tab page Data Selection: FORM COMPUTE_<Field name>
Selection routines for file names on tab page External Data : FORM compute_flat_file_filename
Selection routines for selecting the from and to dates for time-dependent data on tab page Update: FORM compute_time_dependent_dates

The subprograms have the following parameters:
Subprogram FORM COMPUTE_<Field name>:
l_t_range
In the table l_t_range the routines for all selection fields that are filled, or have a routine, are made available.
The routines are executed in the scheduler last of all and therefore, you can change all the selections that you have carried out previously.
p_subrc
Using the variable p_subrc you can report errors to the scheduler. p_subrc <> 0 signals an error and means the data request is terminated.
Subprogram FORM compute_flat_file_filename:
p_filename:
You give the name of the file that is to be loaded in parameter p_filename.
This is useful if your file name contains date dependencies that should be determined by sy-datum and calculated during runtime.
p_subrc
You can inform the scheduler of an error with variable p_subrc. p_subrc <> 0 signals an error and means that the data request is terminated.
Subprogram FORM compute_time_dependent_dates:
p_datefrom and p_dateto
Fill these parameters with the from and to dates for time-dependent master data and texts.
p_subrc
You can inform the scheduler about an error using variable >LS>p_subrc. p_subrc <> 0 signals an error and means the data request is terminated.
Subprogram FORM COMPUTE_<InfoCube-Name>:
l_t_request_to_delete
You give the request number of the request that is to be deleted in parameter l_t_request_to_delete. You can also delete requests from the table. These are then not deleted.
p_subrc
You can inform the scheduler about an error with the variable p_subrc. p_subrc signals an error and means the data request is terminated.
3. Insert your program code for the routines between $$ begin of routine ... and $$ end of routine ... so that the respective subprogram variables are supplied with the corresponding values.
4. Check the syntax of your routine with the Check function.
5. You can then transfer the routine with the Save function.
You end routine maintenance when you exit the Editor.

Options in infopackage

Hi All,
I have noticed that there are 3 options in populating the selection criteria in the data selection tab in an infopackage.
They are
1. ABAP routine
2. OLAP variable
3. Free temporal selection.
I have an idea about the ABAP routine, but have no idea about the other two options. Can anyone please explain me in detail or atleast provide me any links the documents related to this.

Regarding Overwrite option in ODS

Dear experts,
I have an elementary doubt. Why is that in DSO SAP is allowing for overwrite, while not in infocubes.. Any special reasons? As far i thought since ODS has flat tables its easier to maintain change logs as compared to infocubes (denormalization might be a problem too)

In data load ODS is used as an intermediate object.......For delta process the overwrite option of ODS is very important.....
The delta process is a property of the extractor and tells you how data will be transferred ie after extraction which image is transfferred. As an attribute of the DataSource, it indicates how the data in the DataSource will be transferred to the data target. This enables you to derive the data targets for which a DataSource is suitable, how to update them, and how the serialization has been done, for example.
The type of delta process influences how data is updated to a data target.Serialization is necessary for updating to a DataStore object, as overwriting is supported too. Depending on the delta process, the system decides whether
serialization is necessary per request or per data package.
There are various delta processes for SAP source systems (R/3, B2B, CRM, and
so on):
1. Creation of deltas with after, before and reverse images that are updated directly to the delta queue.
An after image provides the status after the change, a before image the status before the change with a minus sign. A reverse image sends the record with a minus sign too, indicating at the same time that it is to be
deleted. The data packages are serialized in the process. The delta process controls whether adding or overwriting is allowed. In this case, both adding and overwriting is allowed. This process permits data to be updated in a DataStore object and in an InfoCube. (Technical name of the delta process in
the system is ABR.)
2. The extractor provides additive deltas that are serialized on a request basis.This serialization is necessary since the extractor provides each key once in a request, and changes to the non-key fields would otherwise not be transferred
correctly. It only allows fields to be added. It permits data to be updated in a DataStore object as well as an InfoCube. This delta process is used by LIS DataSources. (Technical name of the delta process in the system: ADD)
3. Creation of deltas with after image that are updated directly to the delta queue. The data is serialized by package, because the same key can be transferred a number of times within a request. It does not allow data to be updated directly to an InfoCube. To update an InfoCube, you always have to have a
DataStore object as a go-between. With numeric key figures, for example, this process only allows you to overwrite data. Adding is not permitted,as this would produce incorrect results. It is used to transfer line items in FI-AP/AR, whilst the variation on this process, in which the extractor can also send records marked for deletion, is used in this function in the BBP.
(Technical name of the delta process in the system is AIM or AIMD.)

Query regarding OBLIGATORY option in SELECT-OPTIONS

The requirement is to have a select-option for any date field(i've used bkpf-budat) and set its HIGH value to SY-DATUM i.e. current system date. The select-option field MUST BE "OBLIGATORY".
On Executing, the current date should be display on the HIGH filed of select-options. Now, what i need here is that the program should execute normally even if the LOW field of select-options field is left BLANK.
The code is as follows.
TABLES: bkpf.
SELECT-OPTIONS: s_budat FOR bkpf-budat OBLIGATORY.
AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT.
 s_budat-low = space.
 s_budat-high = sy-datum.
 s_budat-sign = 'I'.
 s_budat-option = 'BT'.
 APPEND s_budat.
Do suggest the methodlogy to achieve this requirement.

Unless he really does mean description. <--Yes, I should read the post first.
So "description" in SmartView refers to a fully qualified member name/alias. That's really interesting, particularly as the DBAG doesn't use that term in its chapter on Duplicate Member Outlines.
