Regarding Spool issue while running in background

Hi All ,
i am getting some issue i am executing one report in background so the report output of the spool format is disturbed but while i am executing same report in foreground everything is printing perfectly.
So please suggest me where i missed the scenarios.

Have you tried to set the format properties?
Execute in Background->Properties Button->Format.

Thank you for your reply. I am not using any code for sending the mail to the recipient E-mail address, system is taking care automatically.
Few settings were done in SCOT transaction from basis, but no where they mentioned file type is .HTM.
From my end i have done the following steps.
1. go to SM36, give a job name.
2. press on step push button , give the ABAP program name ( any ALV program, i mean standard report or Z report), give the variant and save.
3. Come back . press on Spool list recipient push button give the e-mail address, press copy button on the pop up window.
4. press on start condition button , press on Immediate option and save.
5. again press on Save button in the screen.
now here job will be scheduled immediately, go to SM37 check your job status, if it is completed, automatically system is sending an e-mail with the ".HTM" attachment file output to the recipient e-mail address.
i am not doing any coding part here.
my concern is system should send the e-mail with ".XLS" file output attachment.
please advise on this.

Nine times out of ten, when you receive a network error during an Essbase retriaval, your application has crashed. Do the retrieval in Smart View, then check to see if your application is still running in EAS after you get the error message. Then let us know and perhaps we can determine how to keep the application from crashing.

Embedded JMS/OC4J issue while running an application in Jdeveloper 10.1.3.2

I am facing an issue while running an application on my laptop.I downloaded Jdeveloper 10.1.3.2.Installed Jheadstart along with that.
Created a new application specified in HR demo.When I run the application I get following messages,After that it does not show my application pages.It does not even open browser window.

Field not getting updated in BDC while running in background

Hi Friends,
I'm executing a BDC transaction to update the Alternate Tax Classification (VBAK_TAXK1) field in Sales Order. I'm passing value 1 to the field and then saving it directly. While running the BDC in background, the field is not getting updated. On the other hand i checked it running in foreground, the field got updated without any error message.
Can anybody help me advicing why the field is not getting updated in background?

Hi ,
Check the the log if you are using a session method and if call transaction then capture the messages for the same,
Because in the foreground the BDC will update the records even if there is a warning message nut in background it will not update. So check the data which you are inserting and try avoid the warning messages also so that it can run smoothly in backfround.

Error while running in background for inherintance

Hi All,
i am inherinting the customised class from the standard class
CLASS zcl_history DEFINITION INHERITING FROM cl_gui_alv_grid FINAL.
But while running in the background it is showing fatal error .

Because there is no GUI to communicate while your program is running in background.

HT204407 Find my Friends app signs me out even while running in background. How can I fix this?

This happened before and after updating the OS to iOS6. If I open FmF, sign in, it won't stay signed in. I can't use the alerts because after a time, even if I leave the app running in the background, it signs me out. I can still be found by others but can't be informed when friends reach locations.
My husband and I purchased the same phones at the same time, and his does not have the same problem. We sync using the same Apple ID and share apps. The only issue I can imagine would be a setting that differs between phones but have not been able to nail it down.

Try creating a passcode for your device in settings. This means you need to enter the passcode before accessing anything on your device, this way you will stay signed into the FmF app even while running in the background and it will not require you to sign in every time you launch the app. However, once you remove the passcode to your device in settings, the FmF app will again require you to sign in whenever you launch the app. I think this is for security reasons.

Passing a message while running in background between two different program

I am calling a report program(say Y) from another program (say X).
I want to pass a message from Y to X and i want to print that meesage in program X in the screen ,if X runs in foreground and if the program X runs in background i want to print that message in spool .
i tried by using a subroutine ie by passing the message to the calling program ..PERFORM f_print_msg in program ZCTE0012_CR_MARK_RELEASE USING lv_msg but how will i catch there.since this is a job i am getting some job related error too'....please help in solving this issue

the only think that I can think of now is inserting that message in a database table, and then read it from the another program.

Issue while running page OC4J start up failed.

Hi,
I am working on two instances one is Local and another is in abroad.
Now when I am running simple Hello World Page by giving Local Instance connections The page is loading quickly and running fine.
Now when I am running the same Hello World Page by giving Abroad Instance connections The page load is taking almost 9-10 mins and running fine.
In the above cases what might be the issue with Abroad Instances for loading page.
1) Is it the Network Issue?
2) Is it the OC4J Issue?
Can anyone breif this senario and how to over come this issue.
And one more Issue is
Took the remote desktop of the Abroad Machine Installed JDeveloper in it and while running the Hello World page the Message OC4J start up failed is getting popedup in the Message.
In which cases we will get OC4J start up failed error.

Can you reproduce the issue with other Self-Service pages? Any performance issues with forms?
2) Is it the OC4J Issue?What about local users who access the same page from the same network, do they encounter the same performance issues?
Can anyone breif this senario and how to over come this issue.Before investigating the performance issues with the instance/server (which are discussed many times in the forum, so just search old threads for performance tuning and you will get many hits), I would suggest you answer the above two questions to determine whether this is a network issue or an instance/server issue.
And one more Issue is

Report is giving wrong output while running in Background ?

We have a report program which gives the correct output while running it in forground(or manually) but when we run it in backgroud it gives the wrong output. (The printout goes to the wrong printer.)
I've read in a SAP doc that:
NEW-PAGE PRINT ON even gives unpredictable
results when the print parameters are incomplete; and it suggested to use FM 'GET_PRINT_PARAMETERS to validate the print parameters before NEW-PAGE PRINT ON event . I tried the same but still our report is sending the printout to the wrong printer while running it in background.
Other events used in the program are AT NEW and AT LAST .
Can anyone confirm me NEW-PAGE PRINT ON, AT NEW and AT LAST events work correctly in background mode also.

NEW-PAGE PRINT ON should be work in the background also,check your syntax with the below syntax,if still it is going to the different printer in the background than check with the configuration setting of printer for the particular report that you r printing,sometime it happens that even in the foreground the correct printer ideanfies but in the background that same printer didnt identify.

Macro issue while running in the background

Case 1: Selection of aggregation level (only 9AMATNR)
When we run a Macro in the background (with an aggregation level of only 9AMATNR), the results for the Macro are looking good at the product level (for e.g. product for all locations, regions, states)
But after running the Macro in the background and when we are in interactive planning and choosing a selection (E.g. product@location) gives inconsistent results.
If we directly run the macro in the interactive planning at detail level (E.g. product@location) gives correct value
Case 2: (Selection of aggregation level (9AMATNR, 9ALOCNO, ZLSDMA, ZLSSTATE, ZLSREG)
But the macro results are inconsistent through out when we select the aggregation level (9ALOCNO, ZLSDMA, ZLSREG, ZLSSTATE) and run the Macro in the background.
I have already gone through the note 412429 and it is not helping me. Can someone please give some suggestions and thier thoughts.

Thanks for your response and I understood your logic, but in either case 1 or case 2, can we do something related to key figures (Aggregation/Disaggregation), so that though I run the Macro in background at product level, I can drill down to detail other levels with consistent results.

We have created a custom package where in we are trying to call the standard API's of Oracle projects i.e PA_PROJECT_PUB.When we are trying to call these APIs we are facing the below issue.
We have tried testing in two instances ,Initially it worked in both instances.
Using the same API's multiple times we tested the same data set in these instances.
For the first few runs it works fine.But when we go on using the same API's again and again for our testing we face now and then the below issue.

Spool empty when run in background

We are running a report in background which is emailed to various recipients. Although this program run successfully in foreground it cancels in background. On the selection screen the user has the option to display a standard report or an ALV report. We have tested both and ALV works fine. The standard report fails.
We have a spool number but it is empty for this scenario. The result is the following code fails:
V_RQIDENT = P_SPONO.
SUBMIT RSPOLST2 EXPORTING LIST TO MEMORY AND RETURN
                  WITH RQIDENT = V_RQIDENT.
PERFORM GET_LIST_FROM_MEMORY.
FORM GET_LIST_FROM_MEMORY.
CALL FUNCTION 'LIST_FROM_MEMORY'
       TABLES
            LISTOBJECT = LISTOBJECT.
ENDFORM.
When I comment out the code which creates the recipient list for emailing then the spool is fine. The spool contains ther required list if 1. ALV report and 2. Standard report with no mail recipient data created.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

We eventually solved the problem as follows:
Adding the if logic since ALV worked, then for standard report call the function LIST_TO_MEMORY to write the list to memory.
If list = 'X'.   "ALV report - existing code works
SUBMIT RSPOLST2   ...
else.
call function 'LIST_TO_MEMORY'
      exporting
          list_index = sy-lsind.
endif.
call function 'LIST_FROM_MEMORY'
   tables
       listobject = listobject
