Regarding Sysprep and WinXP pool dep. with vbox

Hello everyone!
I am trying to deploy a pool of XP VMs and i am having trouble with Sysprep.
I have my master XP VM and i am ready to run the sysprep.exe.
I tried doing it the way explained on the Demo wiki which is:
# C:\Sysprep\sysprep.exe \-mini \-reseal \-quiet \-activated
I am running XP SP3, Latest Solaris 10, latest VDI and SRSS (VDI3)
The above command fails if i have any of the \ before the arguments, so i get rid of them and the command runs fine. E.g.:
# C:\Sysprep\sysprep.exe -mini -reseal -quiet -activated
But after a VM is cloned, sysprep runs perfectly fine, e.g. named/ domain joined e.t.c.. But after that it restarts it then wants to auto login and restart once more (I don't know why) but my problem is here because it cannot auto login because of our login message.
It can easily handle the Ctrl+Alt+Del and passing the login info to the VM but just a simple enter command to handle the message doesn't happen.
So the VM sits there for ages and then VDI times the job out and says failed. But if i press ok to the message manually it works fine and becomes available to the pool.
How can i get around this, could it be another argument in the original sysprep command (listed above)??
regards,
jason

Hi,
Based on my research, we can configure local Group Policy Administrative Template settings on a master computer. This is because Administrative Template settings are stored in the registry, and Sysprep does not change this part of the registry. Any changes
you make to Administrative Template settings will appear on the disk image.
And the sysprep does not remove the user specific GP. It is still under “c:\windows\system32\Group Policy Users". As you said, the user SID changed during sysprep. Try to change the name of the policy folder in the "c:\windows\system32\Group Policy Users"
folder to match the users new SID.
And then run GPUPDATE / FORCE, restart again.

  • BSOD with both Kernal Security Check Error and Bad Pool Header.

    All -
I have a HP DV7 laptop with Windows 8.1. It has BSOD with both Kernal Security Check Error and Bad Pool Header.
Despite doing all the built in HP tests, there is nothing. Using an Anker HardDrive Dock results in the identical errors on another machine.
Bottom line, even if I could see the DMP files (which I cannot); because the machine fails to boot, there are no files to be copied.
I have tried various AIO and UEFI disks and USB, and the laptop NEVER accepts the PREINSTALL environment. Being unable to use the Anker has never happened. I seem completely locked out of the drive. Any suggestions? Thx.

    Hi Texas_Bruiser
Some required details are needed for us to help you.
Ensure that the BIOS/UEFI has been configured to allow boot from DVD/CD or USB.
When you attempted to boot into PREINSTALL environment (PE) by using disks or USB, we need more details about error message or what happened?
If your computer cannot even boot into Windows PE by using installation media, we suggest you check if memory and other hardware are works properly on this computer. Also try to plug this hard disk on other computer as data volume, see if the hard disk works.

Guys, I am having a problem. After I have installed Win2000 or Winxp Pro( first time boot, it pop blue screen with the msg systemroot\system\ntxxx.dll..I have to turn off and and turn on computer, it let me to boot up.) After that, when I restart the computer it boot up with blue screen(Sometimes, it let me boot up without any problem). I didn't install any third party software(OS only). It's weird. Even though, I have installed FAT file system and the result is the same.  I have tested windows 98. It's very stable and no problem at all. Here is my PC configuration
    AMD 950
    MS-6167
    Creative TNT2 Ultra 32MB(AGP)
    Sound Blaster Live
    Sony DVD ROM

Other than that, I build another PC for my fren here is the configuration
    AMD 1.7 XP

    Winxp Pro
Any clue? Do I need to update bios? But I can't find MS-6167 model bios. How come it's doesn't support win2000 and win xp? I got another PC AMD 1.1 Thunderbird with ASUS A7V. I don't have any problem that I mentioned above when I installed 98,win2000 and winxp pro(Separately not dual boot). Appreciate !!!!

  • Administrator Account Disabled after sysprep and capture task sequence in MDT 2010

    Hi
We are currently migrating from Windows XP to windows 7.  As part of our migration we have 5 base Images (for different areas of the business)
Here is what we are doing:
Create a reference machine with the source files for windows 7 Pro x86
Install applications as part of the Task sequence to build a reference machine.
Make the updates to the machine - required for the build.
Run  the Sysprep and capture template to take the capture of the Reference machine.
Import the Capture into the Operating system folder within MDT2010
Create a task sequecne to deploy the image.
    Deploy the Image for Testing.
Deploy the image to a machine
Update the machine with the defects
Re Capture the deployed machine and call it ver2.wim
    re deploy ver2.wim
    Testers test
Defects logged + additional user settings to be captured in the build
Re capture and sysprep runs says the capture has been succesful however after a reboot the administrator account is disabled.
We cant seem to capture anything from here on in.  Nothing has been changed in the unattend.
Autologon is set to enable the administrator account and the password is set to blank as this is then handled by policy when the machine is joined to the domain - we have not enabled the unattended join to the domain at this point in time but it will be
    for deploying the image.
Have we got our image strategy wrong? does the same rule apply about sysprep running more than 3 times on a single machine if it is captured and redeployed after a sucessfully sysprep to the same hardware or even different hardware.

    Hi,
One of the things Sysprep/WAIK do is disable the adminsitrator account.
You mentioned that you are setting the autologing to the administrator account and that you are setting it with a blank password, you can add a simple command in to sysprep's xml to reenable the account:

  • Lync 2013 Enterprise load balancing on the front end and edge pool

    Hi,
I am setting up a Lync 2013 Enterprise deployment consisting of a Front End pool (x2 FE servers) and an Edge pool (x2 Edge servers).  I'm seeing some conflicting advice regarding load balancing using hardware or DNS for the front end and the edge.
On the front end I have 2 internal DNS records 'lyncfepool1.contoso.local' each of which map to one of the IPs of the FE servers.  I've used my details to populate the Detailed Design Planner excel spreadsheet and am told that I require a HLB to load
balance my front end pool.  I'm aware of the need to load balance HTTPS traffic internally (which will be done by TMG) however other traffic to the front end (SIP, etc) can be balanced by DNS only, and not require a HLB?
Can someone clarify the front end requirement?
Also - looking now at the edge pool - this site again have two edge servers in a pool.  We are using a total of six private IP addresses, two per edge service (2 x av.contoso.com, 2 x sip.contoso.com and 2 x webcon.contoso.com).  These will be
NAT'ed by the external firewall and directed to the respective external (DMZ) IP addresses on the Edge servers on port 443.  I know this isn't true roundrobin due to the intelligence of the Lync client when connecting (in that the Lync client will connect
to one of the public IPs and if it can't connect, it will know to connect to the other service IP), however I want to clarify this set up, particularly the need to direct the external public IP traffic at the DMZ Edge IP specified in the topology builder.
I've attached a basic diagram of the external/DMZ/Edge side which hopefully helps with this question
    Persevere, Persevere, Per..

That is because you will always need HLB for a front-end server since it hosts the Lync webservices which use HTTP/HTTPS traffic.
The description on the calculation tool also describes this correctly:
Supports Standard and Enterprise pools (up to 12 nodes), with pure device-based load balancing or a combination of DNS load balancing and device-based load balancing (for
    Lync web services)
You can use either Hardware or DNS loadbalancing for SIP traffic only, but you will always need a HLB for the webservices.  Both are applicable for the Front-End so you have either
full HLB for both SIP and HTTP(S) traffic
DNS LB for SIP traffic and HLB for HTTP(S) traffic
Hope this is more clear :-)

  • Data source for application using both pooled and non pooled connections

    Hi guys.
I am integrating Oracle's connection pooling into an existing application that had formerly used dbConnectionBroker. It looks like this task should be quite straightforward. However, for consistency, I would also like to replace other Connection logic within the application to use Oracle classes. This will involve using OracleDataSource to obtain a Connection object. ( without pooling ).
So in this case, the application will use both pooled and non pooled Oracle connections. They will be connecting to the same database. The question I have is in regard to the use of data-sources.xml.
Are there any special considerations for the required attribute values within data-sources.xml under this scenario ?
    Help will be greatly appreciated.
    Regards.
    Steve.

    Hi Steve -
It should be feasible for you to define a single datasource using multiple location entries to indicate what sort of pooling behaviour you wish to use.
If you lookup and use the "location" attribute, you will receive a javax.sql.DataSource object which will not provide connection pooling.
If you lookup and use the "ejb-location" attribute you will receive a DataSource object that will support connection pooling operations.
Note that this is using the emulated datasource approach, and transaction support is limited to a single resource (one database) for these datasources - you won't get 2PC support for transactions.
If you need a transaction to span two separate resources (ie two databases in same tx) then you will need to use the non-emulated datasource approach.
There is a chapter in the J2EE Services Guide which describes the datasource model we have with OC4J. This might provide you with some more useful information. See Chapter 11 - http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/ias/doc_library/903doc_otn/generic.903/a97690/ds3.htm#1004903
    cheers

  • Difference between interface pool and class pool

    Hi,
Can any body tell me the difference between Interface pool and Class pool.
    thank you in advance.
    regards

    Hi,
    Class and Interface Pools
This section discusses the structure and special features of class and interface pools for global classes.
    Global Classes and Interfaces
Classes and interfaces are object types. You can define them either globally in the Repository or locally in an ABAP program. If you define classes and interfaces globally, special ABAP programs called class pools or interface pools of type K or J serve as containers for the respective classes and interfaces. Each class or interface pool contains the definition of a single class or interface. The programs are automatically generated by the Class Builder when you create a class or interface.
A class pool is comparable to a module pool or function group. It contains both declarative and executable ABAP statements, but cannot be started on its own. The runtime system can create runtime instances (objects) through a request using the CREATE OBJECT statement. These objects execute the statements of the class pool.
Interface pools do not contain any executable statements. Instead, they are used as containers for interface definitions. When you implement an interface in a class, the interface definition is implicitly included in the class definition.
    Structure of a Class Pool
Class pools are structured as follows:
Class pools contain a definition part for type declarations, and the declaration and implementation parts of the class.
    Differences From Other ABAP Programs
Class pools are different from other ABAP programs for the following reasons:
    ·        ABAP programs such as executable programs, module pools, or function modules, usually have a declaration part in which the global data for the program is defined. This data is visible in all of the processing blocks in the program. Class pools, on the other hand, have a definition part in which you can define data and object types, but no data objects or field symbols. The types that you define in a class pool are only visible in the implementation part of the global class.
    ·        The only processing blocks that you can use are the declaration part and implementation part of the global class. The implementation part may only implement the methods declared in the global class. You cannot use any of the other ABAP processing blocks (dialog modules, event blocks, subroutines, function modules).
    ·        The processing blocks of class pools are not controlled by the ABAP runtime environment. No events occur, and you cannot call any dialog modules or procedures. Class pools serve exclusively for class programming. You can only access the data and functions of a class using its interface.
    ·        Since events and dialog modules are not permitted in classes, you cannot process screens in classes. You cannot program lists and selection screens in classes, since they cannot react to the appropriate events. It is intended to make screens available in classes. Instead of dialog modules, it will be possible to call methods of the class from the screen flow logic.
    Local Classes in Class Pools
The classes and interfaces that you define in the definition part of a class pool are not visible externally. Within the class pool, they have a similar function to local classes and interfaces in other ABAP programs. Local classes can only be instantiated in the methods of the global class. Since subroutines are not allowed in class pools, local classes are the only possible modularization unit in global classes. Local classes have roughly the same function for global classes as subroutines in function groups, but with the significant exception that they are not visible externally

  • IIS Virtual Directory and Application Pool for Large Images folder

I have a large images folder used for Upload and Download with approx. 1.5 TB for a web site.
    My Website use AppPool_A.
For performance reasons, do I need to create different Virtual Directory and different Application Pool (AppPool_B) for Images folder. Assuming, if the number of users increase in upload/download images the memory & cpu utilization will be
more and App Pool recycle happens more often. And other impact is if Website and Images are in same App Pool, the application performance slow.

  • Windows 2012 routing and remote access service with same subnet

I have internal server IP range -192.168.1.0/24
Windows routing and remote access service  with vpn client IP -192.168.11../22
client side IP subnet is -192.168.1.0/24
So we wan routing \ NATING between  192.168.1.0/24 to 192.168.11.0/22 so if vpn user try to ping 192.168.11.5 it should internally forward all request to 192.168.1.5

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that VPN client and internal network has the same IP range -192.168.1.0/24. And you want to transfer internal network from IP address 192.168.1.0/24 to 192.168.11.0/22.
Agree with Charles David’s point of view. The easiest way to fix routing confusion would be to either change the VPN subnet or the VPN client subnet.
Or, if you configure Windows Server(RRAS) as VPN server, you may enable NAT to transfer internal IP address:
    1. Open RRAS, add NAT.
    2. New interface to NAT and configure it as public interface.
    3. Open Address Pool tab, add IP address range 192.168.11.0/22.
    4. Click Reservations, add reserved IP(192.168.11.0/22) and corresponding internal IP(192.168.1.0/24) one by one.
This would be a lot of workload. Besides, you may use 3rd party devices to transfer subnet IP addresses.

  • Difference between Datasource and Connection Pool

    Hi,
What is the major difference between Datasource and Connection Pool.
Both the Datasource with JNDI and Connectio Pool will serve the pool of connections. Then what is the difference.
    regards,
    Raj

A datasource is not implicitly a connection pool. You can configure that in the datasource properties. A connection pool is also not implicitly a datasource. You can create your own connection pool using the java.sql interfaces. A datasource just gives the ability to acquire the connections and access the database through JNDI. A connection pool just gives the ability to reuse a set of connections which are created/closed/controlled by the connection pool logic.

  • Smart Form and Module Pool

Can anybody provide me good step by step procedurehow create smart form and module pool programming.
My email Id is [email protected]

    hi,
SAP Smartforms can be used for creating and maintaining forms for mass printing in SAP Systems. The output medium for Smartforms support printer, fax, e-mail, or the Internet (by using the generated XML output).
According to SAP, you need neither have any programming knowledge nor use a Script language to adapt standard forms. However, basic ABAP programming skills are required only in special cases (for example, to call a function module you created or for complex and extensive conditions).
    1. Create a new smartforms
    Transaction code SMARTFORMS
    Create new smartforms call ZSMART
    2. Define looping process for internal table
    Pages and windows
First Page -> Header Window (Cursor at First Page then click Edit -> Node -> Create)
Here, you can specify your title and page numbering
    &SFSY-PAGE& (Page 1) of &SFSY-FORMPAGES(Z4.0)& (Total Page)
Main windows -> TABLE -> DATA
In the Loop section, tick Internal table and fill in
ITAB1 (table in ABAP SMARTFORM calling function) INTO ITAB2
    3. Define table in smartforms
    Global settings :
    Form interface
Variable name    Type assignment   Reference type
    ITAB1               TYPE                  Table Structure
    Global definitions
Variable name    Type assignment   Reference type
    ITAB2               TYPE                  Table Structure
    4. To display the data in the form
Make used of the Table Painter and declare the Line Type in Tabstrips Table
e.g.  HD_GEN for printing header details,
            IT_GEN  for printing data details.
You have to specify the Line Type in your Text elements in the Tabstrips Output options.
Tick the New Line and specify the Line Type for outputting the data.
Declare your output fields in Text elements
    Tabstrips - Output Options
For different fonts use this Style : IDWTCERTSTYLE
For Quantity or Amout you can used this variable &GS_ITAB-AMOUNT(12.2)&
    5. Calling SMARTFORMS from your ABAP program
    REPORT ZSMARTFORM.
Calling SMARTFORMS from your ABAP program.
Collecting all the table data in your program, and pass once to SMARTFORMS
    SMARTFORMS
Declare your table type in :-
    Global Settings -> Form Interface
    Global Definintions -> Global Data
Main Window -> Table -> DATA

    What is SAP Smart Forms?
SAP Smart Forms is introduced in SAP Basis Release 4.6C as the tool for creating and maintaining forms.
SAP Smart Forms allow you to execute simple modifications to the form and in the form logic by using simple graphical tools; in 90% of all cases, this won't include any programming effort. Thus, a power user without any programming knowledge can
configure forms with data from an SAP System for the relevant business processes.
To print a form, you need a program for data retrieval and a Smart Form that contains the entire from logic. As data retrieval and form logic are separated, you must only adapt the Smart Form if changes to the form logic are necessary. The application program passes the data via a function module interface to the Smart Form. When activating the Smart Form, the system automatically generates a function module. At runtime, the system processes this function module.
You can insert static and dynamic tables. This includes line feeds in individual table cells, triggering events for table headings and subtotals, and sorting data before output.
You can check individual nodes as well as the entire form and find any existing errors in the tree structure. The data flow analysis checks whether all fields (variables) have a defined value at the moment they are displayed.
SAP Smart Forms allow you to include graphics, which you can display either as part of the form or as background graphics. You use background graphics to copy the layout of an existing (scanned) form or to lend forms a company-specific look. During printout, you can suppress the background graphic, if desired.
SAP Smart Forms also support postage optimizing.

What Transaction to start SAP Smart Forms?
Execute transaction SMARTFORMS to start SAP Smart Forms.
Key Benefits of SAP Smart Forms:
SAP Smart Forms allows you to reduce considerably the implementation costs of mySAP.com solutions since forms can be adjusted in minimum time.
You design a form using the graphical Form Painter and the graphical Table Painter. The form logic is represented by a hierarchy structure (tree structure) that consists of individual nodes, such as nodes for global settings, nodes for texts, nodes for output tables, or nodes for graphics.
To make changes, use Drag & Drop, Copy & Paste, and select different attributes.
These actions do not include writing of coding lines or using a Script language.
Using your form description maintained in the Form Builder, Smart Forms generates a function module that encapsulates layout, content and form logic. So you do not need a group of function modules to print a form, but only one.
For Web publishing, the system provides a generated XML output of the processed form.
Smart Forms provides a data stream called XML for Smart Forms (XSF) to allow the use of 3rd party printing tools. XSF passes form content from R/3 to an external product without passing any layout information about the Smart Form.

Module pool programs are created in abap development work bench (TCODE: SE80).
Here we can do all the works whatever you can do in abap.
Module pool programs are also called dialog programs.
The module Pool are reports prepared for different screens and to manage the sequence of events of these screens, in the transaction SE80 you can see all the dynpros that you have for this kind of report, add new ones, add all types of element to the report.
Process Before Output is the part of the dynpro code that is processed before the user can do anything with the data in the screen
Process After Input is the part of the dynpro code that is processed after the interaction with the user.
module pool programs are excuted using Tcodes

    Hi gurus,
I want to know what are module pools and functional pool. If any of you have some information on it, I would be glad if you can share it with me
    Regards

    Hi Jason
Module pool is a type of program that contains steps of screens and can only be executed with a transaction code or menu function.
function-pool is the introductory statement for programs of type Function Group, these are programs in which you can define function modules.
    Take a look at this:
