Regarding the Mandatory BackGround Processes

Hi,
I wanna to know the information abt the BackGround processes like(PMON,SMON,CKPT,LGWR,DBWR).Can u pls explain abt all these processes and can i able to visualise these processes practically?
Regards,
sudhir

To fully outline these processes and what they do, would take a book. In fact, books have been written on the subject.
Go to http://tahiti.oracle.com/ and start with the Concepts manual.

  • Where i will give the date and time of the session background process

    Hi.
I created a program on XD01 by using Session Method.
It is executed properly and process in forground also fine.
What my problem is i want execute process of session in Back ground on that time i want give the Date and Time. I do not know where i will provide date and Time.
I want Process the BDC Session after 2 days. How it is possbile. Where i will give the date and Time?
With in these 2 days i want know the status of the Session Process. How i will check the status?
Any body will explain these things with full flow of sequence.
I do not want use the BDC Session by using RSBDCSUB. In that program there is no options for giving the Date and Time.
    Thank You.
    B. Krishna.

    Hi,
While creating session through BDC_OPEN_GROUP function, populate HOLDDATE field to set lock on the created session till that date, say 31.12.2008 and you would like to execute your session on 1.1.2009 at 2:00 AM.
Once session is created, create a batch job for program RSBDCSUB and schedule it on 1.1.2009 at 2:00 AM (server time).
I am confident that it solves your problem.

  • Regarding the Outbound IDOC process

    Hi Experts,
Please answers the following questions which i have some doubts in Outbound Process.
    1)  Which program is resposible to fill the segments of IDOC(Std IDoc) in case of   Outbound IDOC Process with message control , Is it FM in Process code or any other FM based on message type( Std Msg)?.
    2) Where we need to code or search the exit in Case of extension of basic IDOC type with and without message control?
3)Which prog is responsible to fill the IDOC in case of outbound process without message control but using std basic IDOC.
    Regards,
    Kali Pramod

    Kali,
    1. You can search in SE37 using IDOC_OUTPUT* for finding out corresponding function modules. It is based on message types.
    2. You can search user exit in above mentioned function module. So first get the correct populating FM & then you can search for Call Customer Function inside the code for user exit.
3.Again ans is same as in point 1.

  • Background processes while starting the R/3 system

    hi all
I have IDES R/3 4.7 installed in my hard disk,
and when i start the background processes normally the status has to be Wait , yes.
But these days when i started the processes, i'm getting the statuses as "Ended"  with all the 12 background processes,
and i can't be able to get into the login screen.
can anyone tell how to get the processes states to wait and yes state.
    Thanks

Have a look at the dev_-traces located in /usr/sap/work directory. You should pay special attention to dev_w0 and dev_ms, and then look through the other dev_w files.
I guess, there you will find a hint leading you to the cuase of the issue

  • How to trap warning messages generated from the background processing?

    Hi all,
Following is my requirement, i want to know whether it can be done and how?
The credit management (CM) warning messages generated as a result of the CM background processes, where do the messages go? Can you trap them and include them in an interface control report?
    Thanks

    Hi
If it's created a job for that process, you can try to read the log: here you should find all triggered messages, so the warning ones too.
U can try to use fm like BP_JOBLOG_READ or BP_JOBLOG_SHOW in order to get the log.

We have a requirement where we have to call the 'Workflow background process' explicitly in pl/sql code.
What we want is that we are having some request that runs via a concurrent program, but before that request completes we want to put that on wait and run the 'Workflow background process' explicitly in the code itself (user need not go and manually run it).
Can anyone please advice me how do I do this in a PL/SQL code that is called via a concurrent program.

    Hi,
    Follow the below steps
    1. Execute PFTC transaction.
    2. Choose the task type as Standard Task.
    3. Enter the task ID without Object type TS i.e. if task ID is TS90000000, then simply enter 90000000.
    4. Open in change mode and enable the check box BACk ground Processing.
After the above steps are completed, Execute the transaction SWU_OBUF and click SHIFT + F1. to refresh teh buffer.

  • Oracle 9i background process

    Hi,
Currently I am doing ORACLE 9i Data Guard on HP-UX, I find there are some strange background process, such as "nsv1", "lns0" and "rsm0". I am familiar with smon, pmon, etc, but those new processes are new to me. I researched Oracle doc and Metalink, there is no place talking about those processes.
Do you know any place I can get explanation of all the Oracle background process?
    Thanks

Here is a quick description directly from the database:

    LNS0  Network Server 0
RSM0  Data Guard Broker Resource Guard Process 0

  • RAC instance won't start: ORA-00443: background process "VKRM" did not star

I've logged a SR with Oracle, but while waiting for response from them...I'm stumped I can't find more out here about this article.
On Oracle knowledgebase...any search for VKRM, gives about the same 3 articles relating to RDA (Remote Diagnostic Assistant).
Not sure what went on here.
I have a 5 node RAC cluster. All other instances seem to be running just fine.
On one instance...some applications were getting an error like:
ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress
I looked in GRID...and it indicated that only two of the 5 nodes had this instance running...which was strange in that with srvctl, it showed ll 5 up and running:
    [oracle@server2 bin]$ ./srvctl status database -d INSTANCE
Instance INSTANCE1 is running on node server1
Instance INSTANCE2 is running on node server2
Instance INSTANCE3 is running on node server3
Instance INSTNANCE4 is running on node server4
Instance INSTANCE5 is running on node server5
Anyway, thought I'd poke around. I started with trying to get srvctl to stop instance #2...in GRID it seemed that instance 2,4 and 5 weren't working.
    srvctl stop instance -D INSTANCE -i INSTANCE2
    This just hung...
I thought I'd cycle all the nodes...so, did a ctl-c out of that one, and did:
    [oracle@server2 bin]$ ./srvctl stop database -d INSTANCE -o abort

The ORA-01034 messages repeats a number of times...and the one with server4 and server5 repeated again too.
    I also got this:
    CRS-2680: Clean of 'ora.instance.db' on 'server2' failed

I get similar messages when I try to restart.
clusters seem to be up, and other instances seem to be ok

    Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
Ok..have been on phone with Oracle support, and have them stumped so far.
I've checked..other instances are running (except one other that failed to cleanly shut down with srvctl and same error messages).
I've check...ASM is running on all 5 nodes. I've used crsctl to check CRS on all nodes..clustering seems ok.
Memory while somewhat high...should have enough room...the system has never complained before, and this has been up on this config for over a year.
I was able on node one...to fire up the first nodes instance using the pfile there...it came up. I started it restrict..and promptly ran a datapump export, and then shut back down.
While Oracle support is going through logs and trace files I sent...I've got another 11Gr2 environment (3 node RAC) I've been using as a test environment...and am recreated the instance there temporarily to allow my developers to test and get past the upcoming deadline.
But, I'm still puzzled as to the solution on the main cluster. This seem to be normal, except these two instances....
any ideas on where and what to look for?

  • Background processes initialization much longer in CS6

    Hello,
    The title says it all.
When launching a render, the message "background processes initializing / this may take a while" gets stuck more than 70s in CS6, whatever the project, whereas it was never on more than 10s in CS5.
We're back to the CS4 delays here. Is this a known issue ?
On a side note, the multiprocessing is a bit weird:
Before it was pretty straightforward : When 10 cores were used for the render, the frames were rendered by batches of 10. With CS6 it's different : A first batch of 3 frames get rendered, then another one of 14 (!!), then I lost track of the process.
Is multiprocessing so different in CS6 ?
    Thanks to whoever can answer...
    JM
    Mac Pro 12-Core / 32GB RAM
    Mac Os 10.6.8
    AE MP settings :
2,5GB per core / RAM reserved for other applications : 4GB
CPU reserved for other applications : 4

It seems that the latest update (11.0.2) did not fix this. Are Adobe actually going to acknowlegde this problem exists or just bury their heads in the sand over it? I just tried rendering out a TIFF sequence and a WAV file into an mp4. After 3 minutes of it saying 'background processes intializing this may take some time' I cancelled it, turned off multi-processing and it then rendered straight away. This was using an i7 on Windows using 6 cores to multi-process with. The majoirty of time the delay in ram previewing with multi-processing turned on completely negates the speed advantages you get than if you don't have it turned on as well - especially with small, easy comps. I also see the same problem with the Mac Pros at work. Could you please possibly spend less time inflating the software by adding plugins and components that we don't need ie Camera Tracker (I have Boujou, PFMatchIt, Matchmover and The Foundry Camera Tracker already) and that god awful slow raytracing engine and actually speed the whole programme up which is what we all want?
And one last thing. When are we going to see proper playback from disk and not ram like a Smoke, Flame or Avid system does? I have 5 SSDs in RAID 0, more than quick enough to playback uncompressed 2k+. Why if I'm working in any comp longer than 10 seconds even with 32Gb or RAM am I constantly having to re-render the front part of the comp because AE has used the RAM elsewhere - just store and play it back directly from disk??? This is the only thing that is stopping AE from being a proper online finishing system.
    Rant over. Breathe.....
