Regarding the N97 phone back up
I honestly didn't want to start a new topic but I didn't know where to post this either..Bear with me here.
Ok so I have my back-up set to only "messages" and "contacts"..so does it back up the messages in the E: drive or does it only back up the phone memory which is the C: drive? cause I have all my messages saved in the E: drive.. and as for contacts I think that explains itself..I mean I'm sure it does a back-up on all the contacts..Am I right?
So, my main issue is which Messaging Drive is being backed up?
I have searched for a thread similar to mine..but with no avail..and if there is a thread that I could've possibly skipped, then I apologize.

Interesting. But you do know that a hard reset don't affect E:? So if you have your messages there, a hard reset shouldn't touch them, so they should still be there anyway.
But I have tried several times, and the backup with OVI suite really don't seem to work. Could you check one thing? When you do a backup, make sure you check the box for backing up the messages. Then try a restore, and see what boxes you have to pick between when doing a restore. Messages aren't among them when I try.
It might also be a problem because I use Ovi Suite, which is what was delivered with my N97, so I don't use PC Suite.

Go to Solution.Hi, simply slide the lock/unlock slider on the right hand side. Also you can go into Menu(silver button)/settings/phone/phone management/slide settings and turn auto lock on or off !

I just upgraded from the iPhone 4 to 4s. I had backed up the old phone backed up to iCloud. How do I restore that data to my new iphone? Even though I had photostream on, it never synched. I installed iCloud for the pc and can see the backup up in the cloud. I just want to get all the data to the new phone.
When you go through the new phone setup, it should ask if you want to setup as new or restore from iCloud. If you have already setup as new, you will have to reset the 4S to factory settings, and go through setup again.

we plan on buying an iphone 5 but don't want to lose the text messges we have on our iPhone 4s. is there a way to upload the texts and then download them onto the new phone
Text messages are included in your iPhone backup. Before switching over to the new phone, back up the old one, then restore this backup to your new phone. I was given a N900. I used it for a couple of months but I couldnt get on with it.
I have decided to put the N900 back in the draw and go back to the trusty N97.
Despite all the bad press I do think its a great phone.
The only disadvantage is the speed of the internet. Is there anything they can do to speed it up? Is the N97 Mini faster? For me it would be a perfect phone if it was slightly quicker on the internet and if the screen was scratch resistant
Also when I log into hotmail and put remembe password it never does remember me and doesnt log me in automatically like I request it to. How do I get around this? Its just a pain typing out the full email address every time

Go to Solution.When you say log in, are you using the email client or logging in on the web ? If you set up a mailbox on the phone it has to work (you use the email address and password to set it up. If you're using the web, check settings in the browser, or try Opera mini , which will remeber passwords like your computer does. As regards the mini it's speed is the same but it has more phone memory, not quite such hard work as the 'classic' .

How can I keep apps in the order I prefer? I've rearranged via iTunes but every time I power cycle the phone, the apps go back to their original positions...

If you are having issues organizing the Apps on your iPhone via iTunes, you may want to double-check the steps in the following article and make sure you are syncing any changes to your device:

Can someone verify the following regarding Find My Phone:
I assume the lost device (iPhone) and the device (ipad) one uses to find the lost item must have identical Apple IDs , PWs as well as identical iCloud identification?Back now. Are you saying that you entered you iCloud ID and password in the Find My iPhone app (see photo below), and it said you don't have an iCloud account? Are you sure this is the ID for your iCloud account (check Settings>iCloud next to Account at the top on the device you are trying to track)?
Also, did you try using this ID and password on icloud.com on your computer to try to track it, as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmfc0f2442? Did that work? -
hi, i have just upgraded to the i phone 5 from the 4s, i have done a back up and transfrerred all content to my i phone 5 but cannot get apps to transfer how do you do this please?
Apps are not part of the backup. You need to sync them to the iPhone from iTunes on your computer or re-download them from the iTunes Store. For the latter option, see:

I went thru upgrade to ios7, then a few days later there was an alert in settings, so I clicked on the update to THAT upgrade... then my phone went black... no turning off or on. So I plugged into my PC and it will only show an iTunes logo a small white arrow up and then a pic of hte cord attached.... computers won't recognize phone, but sometimes show a 'device' there, but no opening anything... and it shows NO device driver for apple iphone. what's happened??? HOW dod I get my phone back! This is a work phone... need asap! thanks!

I have a iPhone 5. In usage, it says i have 2.1 gigs used because of photos and camera. I have deleted all my photos via iPhoto and now reset the phone back to factory settings in order to try to solve this problem, to no avail. Both iTunes and the phone say that 2.1 gigs are being used, even though the phone now has nothing on it. What is going on?
Yeah it works fine over wifi the problem is when I try to use it over my 3G. It's really stressing me out now.

I am trying to back up my new Iphone on to ICloud. It shows I dont have enough storage because it still has stuff from the old IPhone. How can I back up this phone and erase from the other. Apple kept the other phone when they replaced it. If I hit the delete storage for the other phone (which shows up on the Icloud Icon on this phone) will I lose everything on this phone? That's what I want to avoid....
If it's corrupt, generally it would be lost.
However, there is third-party software out there that can retrieve some of the data, those of which however I could not recommend as I have never done so myself.
Also, if the old 4S was running a more recent software version than the current 4S, that may cause the issue however usually iTunes tells you exactly that.

I have an older iPhone (3gs) and need to upgrade to a newer phone (4S). I need to get my NOTES, CALENDAR, CONTACTS, PICTURES, etc backed up on iTunes so I can get that data loaded onto the new phone. But not sure how to do that. When I open iTunes it has a button that say "Back Up iPhone", but I'm not sure what that does. When I go into the sync options it say I have another user account and asks me if I want to merge of replace. I'm assuming it's trying to tell me I have an older iTunes Library, but don't know that. Geez, maybe people over 60 shouldn't have iPhones, iTunes just bafles me.

I just got my new i phone 5 s and did all the syncing and backing up for my old iphone 4s and set my 5 up and synced it on itunes. It synced evrything but the contacts and other minor things. those were the only things that really transfered. My apps and all my music did not. Tthe thing is when i just went to go manually start dowmloading a few of the songs that i knew i already bought , itunes is making me pay forthem again. Its not saying instal like it usuall does when you go download something aleady purchased on your itunes account. I think or thought it might have something to do with the fact that i just changed my apple id name right before i got my new phine but my apps all re-downloaded (manually-no syncing) without making me pay for them again. i dont want to have to purchase allllll my songs again. Can someone please help me!! Itried going back to my old id or signing out of this id and signing in as my old apple id but now it wot even get on that oneits likjeit doesnt exist anymore.. And when i plug my old phone it shows in the itunes everything thats supposed to be there but all that doesnt stay in the itunes when i actually un plug it so when i plug my 5 in to my computer none of the stuff is in the store for me to actually transfer it I am so good with technology and this has me stumped please help
No it's not stealing. They have an allowance that you can share with so many computers/devices. You'll have to authorize her computer to play/use anything bought on your acct. You can do this under the Store menu at top when iTunes is open on her computer.
As far as getting it all on her computer....I think but I am not sure (because I don't use the feature) but I think if you turn on Home Sharing in iTunes it may copy the music to her computer. I don't know maybe it just streams it. If nothing else you can sign into your acct on her computer and download it all to her computer from the cloud. Not sure exactly how to go about that, I haven't had to do that yet. I wonder if once you authorize her computer and then set it up for automatic downloads (under Edit>Preferences>Store) if everything would download. Sorry I'm not much help on that. -
Every time I started to at least restore the little data left on the very last update I made in the old phone at Itune It continualy kept trying to restore and at the end a message will appear saying that an error had occurred and restore was unable to complete. Please I need help on this. I got over 2,000 songs in the old phone and I don't want to loose them. Thanks!
