Regarding training to get OCP

Hi All,
I completed Oracle 10g OCA and going ahead for OCP.
We need to attend instructor-led training and fill that information in hands on course form to get success kit.
can anyone please share the details of institutes which are providing this training in hyderabad, india.
Thanks in advance
Pavan

Hi,
Regarding the Costs, you need to go for ORACLE Website, you get the information, how much the university charges.
As per my knowledge I attended the Backup and Recovery paper, which costs some where 9k.
Total two papers some where 17k or 18k including the taxes or excluding taxes I don't remember that (SQL STAR International).
@Aman, yes ofcouse Univeristy is first preference. But mostly companies prefer, as a individual it's costly I think.

  • Few questions regarding Training and event management

    Dear All,
Can you please help me with the following queries regarding Training and Event Management:
    1. How to freeze a completed business event so that no changes to its record (like delete/update attendee details or event detail) is possible?
    2. How to get feedback from attendee/faculty with a predefined format with rating (1-4 scale)
    3. How to maintain department and category wise training man/hrs or training man/days?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Toa

    Hi Toa,
    1. Run report RHHISTO0 via SA38. Once the business event is flagged as "historical" no further changes can be done.
    3. SM30 - T77S0 - Make the following swtiches active:
    SEMIN AINST
    SEMIN APART
Then when events are followed up, these training data is recorded to employee 2002 infotype. You can report on it via PT90 (for department-based selection use "Further selections")

  • Can one get OCP without previously passing OCA- Solaris 10

Looking at the requirements for getting the Solaris 10 Administrator certification, I wonder if I can get certified by passing the two required exams without sitting the OCA exam first. Beside passing CX-310-202 and CX-310-202 there's nothing else listed as a requirement. Solaris 10 certified admin is OCP level.
Do I have to get OCA first before getting OCP or regarding Solaris 10 I can go straight for the OCP level?
Sorry for the noob style, but I haven't been able to find any straightforward answer.

Based on the Solaris 10 Administrator certification path, which can be found at http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=328 , I would say that you need only the CX-310-200 and CX-310-202 exams to obtain the OCP cert. I don't see an OCA cert listed on that page and typically those cert pages list the full path from OCA to OCP and even OCM if one exists for that cert.
With most Oracle certs they force you to obtain the OCA level before going on to OCP and beyond. This exam, however, is one that is ported over from Sun. The FAQ page regarding Sun certifications (http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=82#6Q12C) states the following:
"Will the Sun certification tracks or requirements change?
Sun certification tracks will be modified to follow Oracle’s certification model: Associate, Professional, Master, and Expert. All changes to the Sun certification credential names, tracks, and requirements will be available on the Oracle Certification Program Web page. "
The closest thing I can see to an OCA version of an exam for this cert would be the Oracle Certified Associate, Oracle Solaris 10 Operating System (http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=327). However, on neither of the cert path pages for these exams do I see any connection between the two. Therefore, I don't think it would be a requirement, but I cannot state that with 100% certainty. Hopefully a forum mod can provide a more concrete answer.

  • Purpose of instructor led training requirement for OCP?

What is the purpose of requiring OCP candidates to take an instructor led course? It all seems a bit random / superfluous. Costly too if one does not have an employer willing to pay for the training.
My Oracle Press "OCA/OCP Oracle Database 11g All-in-One Exam Guide" doesn't even hint that classes are a requirement for the OCP; the most said is: "The OCA qualification is based on two examinations; the OCP qualification requires passing a third examination." (pg. XXIX). An incomplete characterization, correct?
And "To prepare for the OCA/OCP examinations, you can attend Oracle University instructor-led training courses, you can study Oracle University online learning material, or you can read this book." (pg. XXIX). Prepare for the exams, sure. But why would such a book omit the not insignificant detail that a perhaps expensive course is required to get the OCP? Seems discourteous to the reader.
    From http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=244#5 via http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=198&p_org_id=&lang=
I say it seems random and superfluous because of the following list:
"These foundation courses meet the Hands On Course Requirement for OCP-Level certification:
    * Oracle Database 11g: Introduction to SQL
    * Oracle Database 11g: Introduction to SQL Ed 1 LVC
    * Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I
    * Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals l Ed 1 LVC
    * Oracle Database 11g: SQL and PL/SQL Fundamentals
    * Oracle Database 11g: SQL and PL/SQL Fundamentals Ed 1 LVC
    * Oracle Database 11g: Develop PL/SQL Program Units
    * Oracle Database 11g: Administration Workshop I
    * Oracle Database 11g: Administration Workshop I Ed 1.1 LVC
    * Oracle Database 11g: Administration Workshop II
    * Oracle Database 11g: Data Warehousing Fundamentals"
A modest Intro to SQL course will count? But an OCA will already have that knowledge. Obviously, one should choose a course with higher-level content. But I'm not sure I understand the logic of the OCA-grade courses being eligible. And for those funding certification without financial assistance from an employer, the question that suggests is this: what is the least expensive way to satisfy the "instructor led" course requirement? I cheapest price I see from Oracle is a 3 day class costing $1,800. It would also cost 3 days of vacation time, or unpaid leave, if an employer is not supportive of certification.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply Hans.
TO expose the candidate to techniques related to the new features rather than traditional techniques that are commonplace in the industry. That makes sense to me. But many of us like to tinker with new features on our own.In my experience, many, many more people want the OCP without doing any work. Some will use pure memorization or out and cheating to get there.
It's unfortunate that you and I get penalized by those.
    >
And to ensure that the has had at least some hands-on time, instead of only pure theory. While some people may get hands-on at work, many others do not
have that opportunityh, especially in the are of new features. Then it might make sense for OCP certification to allow submission of proof of work experience in place of the HOC, as is the case with other professional certifications.
    Yes, that would be nice.
But difficult to verify. and you would be surprised how many organizations have very narrow definitions of the job. Experimenting not allowed in some places.
It all seems a bit random / superfluous. Sad, from an instructors and OCP's point of view, to hear you think of it that way.I don't mean to say there isn't anything new any of us couldn't pick up, say, even from an Intro to SQL course. There's a vastness to most technology topics and we can't master every facet. But the cost/benefit ratio may be terribly low for those who are already Oracle professionals with many years of on the job experience. The reality as well is that some instructors are duds--that's the case anywhere. And for my learning style, I prefer self-guided / on-my-own study.
Costly too if one does not have an employer willing to pay for the training. No doubt.
My Oracle Press "OCA/OCP Oracle Database 11g All-in-One Exam Guide" doesn't even hint that classes are a requirement for the OCP; the most said is: "The
OCA qualification is based on two examinations; the OCP qualification requires passing a third examination." (pg. XXIX). An incomplete characterization, correct?A topic to discuss with the authors, and publisher. We (the user community with whom you are talking) have little to no control over this.Wonder if the authors participate in these forums. I realize you, as a user, have no control over this. But a book blessed by Oracle via Oracle Press, I respectfully submit, can and should do better--by including details about the HOC requirement.
Some do. But much more effetive would be to lodge a formal complaint or inquiry.
"These foundation courses meet the Hands On Course Requirement for OCP-Level certification:
...All of which will ensure you have had time becoming acquainted with SQLPLus, DBControl, and perhaps SQLDeveloper.I already use all 3 tools. Would love to take all the courses listed; but I'm not independently wealthy or otherwise.
    So would I. ;-)
As well as logging in (you would be surprised how many OCA candidates do not know how), these all give you an opportunity to issue SQL and PL/SQL
commands. Scary, but seems beside the point. The HOC requirement is one solution to this problem, but it seems like a sub-optimal one. Again, this punishes Oracle professionals already working in the field who'd like to become certified. Why is there no regard for them? One way to correct this, if this is a genuine concern on Oracle's part, is to include a "live" aspect to the exams. Then, if this causes a fail, those who flunk might be interested in taking HOCs to remedy this. In this day and age, I'm certain training could involve interactive SQL*PLUS sessions, etc. Only a failure of imagination and will could prevent I suspect; particularly in a world of virtualization. I'd consider a redesign of exams before I'd require people to pay for classes they may be unable to pay for. It's a bit of an insult to working Oracle professionals who want to add certification.
I agree to some extent. Again, the issue is the consistency in experience. I have met people with 10 years of experience, and others with 10 times 1 year of experience.
A modest Intro to SQL course will count? But an OCA will already have that knowledge. I wish this was consistently true. Then I mispoke. But the HOC still punishes existing Oracle professionals.
I sympathize. I'm an independent, and all exams and certification costs come out of my own (corporate=me) pocket. But life in the professional fast lane is not
cheap. This topic has been the source of some contention for quite some time.
Unfortunately a number of people have been unscrupulous in their method of getting certification - cheating, using gunners, and so on - and I see this as one of
the few ways to combat the issue. If the cheating issue is just left alone, the value of OCP (and any other certification) is effectively lost. The unscrupulous, I'm afraid, will always be with us. This problem is not solved, I'm also afraid, by requiring a costly HOC. It is in my opinion one potential solution of many, and not at all the best one. I wonder how other vendors with certifications handle this. I do know that some industry-generic certifications require proof of X years of work in the field (e.g. GISPs), as well as providing proof of various contributions to the field. This could be gamed as well I suppose. But the honest should not be punished along with the dishonest.Basically I agree with the sentiment. Implementation is the issue.
    >
Bottom line: in my view, a few alternate solutions to the HOC are:
    1) Allow submission of work credentials to substitute for the HOC
    2) Incorporate hands-on aspects to the exam, e.g. a SQL*PLUS simulator.
I'm sure the brilliant minds at Oracle, or a suitable contractor, could easily accomplish #2. And #1 might be a true bar-raiser. It seems highly unlikely to me that, say, requiring an Intro to SQL HOC course raises the bar more than a few millimeters. There have been many discussions around this. Several of us have even considered non-vendor certifications as a route to accomplish this.
It is an imperfect world. But hopefully the steps will correct some of the deficiencies.
I am sure Paul and the rest of the Certification team would be happy to hear more feedback on how to implement practical verifiable real-world experience alternatives to the HOC that do not increase Oracle's costs.
    >
Since both are unlikely to happen any time soon, what is the least expensive option for the HOC and where do I find a list of courses and institutions that offer them? In my view, Oracle should provide this information as a courtesy. No reason not to unless there is a revenue motive; and the author of the blog posts you sent me assures us the addition of the HOC is not a revenue enhancement maneuver. I'd be more inclined to believe it if those words were backed-up with helpful actions like the one I've proposed--since such a thing seems not to exist. All courses and course locations are available through http://education.oracle.com (and have been available for years) as well as the price. Oracle's policy does not allow for much price variation for education. The exception is when bulk purchased are negotiated, which is outside what you and I can talk with them about.

  • Can i use "Oracle Database 12c: Performance Management and Tuning " training for getting certification on "Oracle Database 11g: Performance Tuning 1Z0-054"

i have taken "Oracle Database 12c: Performance Management and Tuning new" training from oracle university. Now i would like to get certified on "Oracle Database 11g: Performance Tuning 1Z0-054" exam. Is it possible ?

I essentially endorse and refer you to Matthews' and John's post above.
I would differ with slightly with Matthew because my guess is you would often be able to use like for like 12c training for an 11g certification ( I believe there are precedents).  BEFORE ANYONE ASKS THE OTHER WAY DOESN'T HAPPEN.
.... but totally concur with Matthew you would ill advised to procede on that basis without one of:
    - This being advertised as possible on the website : e.g. https://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=654&get_params=p_id:169 ... option 2 show courses.
    - Confirmation from Brandye
    - Confirmation from an Oracle Certification Support Web Ticket ( http://education.oracle.com/pls/eval-eddap-dcd/OU_SUPPORT_OCP.home?p_source=OCP )
... The more common (and in my opinion usually better) way would be get your 11g DBA OCP ( or higher first) and then take the 1z0-054.  I am almost certain they will accept your 12c course for the 11g DBA OCP.
If you are choosing the route of not being a 11g (or 12c ) DBA OCP first but are on option 2 and relying on the course for certification then the issue is more in the balance and you are even more strongly advised to get confirmation before proceding (remember if the rules need to be changed for you only then any profit out of the exam is lost).
In general my understanding is Oracle would prefer to encourage people to train on the latest version of product that is available for training  and will prefer to avoid restrictions which would cause you to train at a lower version.  ( This is simply my guess at Oracle University Policy ... personal opinion only).
Having said all I have said I'd encourage you to go with the advice of the earlier two posts.

  • Need help regarding training on OWB from Oracle corp

    Hi All,
I have 5years of exp in Oracle admin/Dev platform. Now I wanted to move on to warehouse, something new and different . So could you guys help me out how I would get a training on this. I inquired regarding Owb training program from Oracle corp, according to them its all elearing .So I am not interested on that . I am searching for classroom based training .
Now I am based on Pune,India. I am open to Mumbai,Hyderabad,Bangalore in india. I am ready to move and attend classroom training on this . So could someone help me on that ?

I took the OWB 5-day live virtual class and found it as good or better than being in a classroom. It basically entailed installing a vpn connection to the Oracle training system and launching the virtual desktop to do lab activities; the course materials were provided electronically before the class began (pdf), and the instructor presented the materials and demo'ed the topics via a webex-style presentation. The only drawback was the audio portion was via telephone; from my location (US) it was a toll free call, but use of a headset or speakerphone was mandatory to avoid permanent neck injury; hopefully they will get the audio online with the LVC or at least provide it as an option for those who have audio capability (mic & speakers) on the computer.

  • Regarding workflow to get manager rule 168

    Hello HR Gurus,
Well I am an abaper .
while testing the rule 168 (to get the superior of person in workflow ) I can get the superior of person by passing
    Extended object id = Position
    and
    object type = ‘S’
but when I try to find the superior by passing
Extended object id = SAP log on name
    and
    object type as ‘US’
I am unable to get the superior ..
Please advice what could be the cause of it . as it is giving me supervisor when entering the details with position and employee id but not when entering sap logon id .
in another client(IDES) it working fine with saplogon id ie  ‘US’ but not with position i.e. S
details in info type 105(communication ) is maintained .
<b>does it has some thing to do with evaluation path ..?</b>
please advice what could be the cause of it .. u r all advice will  be appreciated

    Hi brijesh,
The main thing is that the relationships between the objects were not maintained based on the sap logon id, are maintained only by employee id(OBJID), Though u r giving the SAP Logon id , u should get the corresponding Employee id then proceed furthur to get the supervisor , it would resolve your problem.

and move on to another stop(which is also a different jsf page) and again go back to previous jsf page, the value in the input text gets cleared from the screen.
These input text are not bounded with View Object attributes. The JSFFs are desgined without binding.
How can I save/retain the view of the previous page , I mean how to retain the values on the page that were entered, as train component itself provides the
functionality of moving back and forth. Alll the 3 jsf pages and the main.jspx (which contains the bounded taskFlowDefinition as region) have backingBeanScope.
Please reply if you know wat I have missed or wat I need to do for this.

How to get the Tax amount for differnt tax type.
    Please help me.
    Regards,
    K Sakthivel

    Hai Sakthi,
As you want the report for different tax types  you can differentiate different tax types by tax rate and tax code  you can  refer the below query and modify  according to your requirement and you can add as many tax codes/tax type based on your needs.
BASED ON TAX CODE AND TAX RATE :
SELECT distinct  M.DocNum AS 'AR Inv. #', M.DocDate as 'Date', M.CardName as 'Customer Name',M.NumAtCard as 'Bill No. & Dt.',M.DiscSum,M.RoundDif,
    (Select Sum(LineTotal) FROM INV1 L Where L.DocEntry=M.DocEntry) as 'Base Amt.(Rs.)',M.VATSUM,
    t.statype,
    (Select Sum(LineTotal) FROM INV1 L Where L.DocEntry=M.DocEntry and statype =1 and taxrate=5  AND TAXCODE='CHVAT5' ) as 'CHENNAI VAT5  SALES',
    (SELECT SUM(TaxSum) FROM INV4 where statype=1 and TaxRATe =5 and DocEntry=M.DocEntry  AND STCCODE='CHVAT5' ) as ' CHENNAI VAT5 COLLECTED ',
    (Select Sum(LineTotal) FROM INV1 L Where L.DocEntry=M.DocEntry and statype =1 and taxrate=0.00  AND TAXCODE='CHTAXEXE' ) as 'EXEMPTED  SALES',
    (SELECT SUM(TaxSum) FROM INV4 where statype=1 and TaxRATe =0.00 and DocEntry=M.DocEntry  AND STCCODE='CHTAXEXE' ) as 'EXEMPTED COLLECTED ',
    (Select Sum(LineTotal) FROM INV1 L Where L.DocEntry=M.DocEntry and statype =1 and taxrate=14.50  AND TAXCODE='CHVT14.5' ) as 'CHENNAI VAT14.5  SALES',
    (SELECT SUM(TaxSum) FROM INV4 where statype=1 and TaxRATe =14.50 and DocEntry=M.DocEntry  AND STCCODE='CHVT14.5' ) as ' CHENNAI VAT14.5 COLLECTED ',
    (Select Sum(LineTotal) FROM INV3 Q Where Q.DocEntry=M.DocEntry) as 'FREIGHT',
    M.DocTotal as 'Total (Rs.)'
FROM OINV M LEFT OUTER JOIN INV1 L on L.DocEntry=M.DocEntry
    LEFT OUTER JOIN INV4 T on T.DocEntry=L.DocEntry
    LEFT OUTER JOIN INV5 J ON M.DocEntry = J.AbsEntry
    LEFT OUTER JOIN INV3 Q ON M.DocEntry = Q.DocEntry
    INNER JOIN NNM1 T4 ON M.SERIES=T4.SERIES
    where (t4.series ='1' ) AND TARGETTYPE !='14'
    GROUP BY
    M.DocNum,M.DocDate,M.CardName,M.NumAtCard,M.DocEntry,M.DiscSum,M.WTSum,M.DocTotal,M.Series,T4.SeriesName,M.RoundDif,M.VATSUM,T.STATYPE,T.TAXRATE,Q.LINETOTAL,t4.series,

  • How to get .ocp file when converting sql database to oracle database?

    Hi all,
    Hope doing well,
sir i am using sql developer tool for migration from sql server to oracle
i am using this offline but i don't know how to create .ocp file
    please help me.
    it's urgent
    waiting for reply.
    thanks in advance.

The OCP files are created during OFFLINE Migration. In SQl Developer click on Tools -> Migration -> Create Database Capture Scripts. Choose an output directory, make sure to select the correct platform (Windows) and select MS SQl Server from the drop down list.
You'll get in the directory specified earlier the batch and OCP files required to create the source model using the offline method.
Have a look at this web site: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/products/migration/sqlserver-095136.html
It contains more info including a link to a video demonstrating the offline capture method.
