Regarding Upgrad ! (Urgent plzzz)

Hi Guys,
currently i am using BW 3.5 and have created various InfoObjects like InfoCubes, Infosets, Master Data, ODS.
Now the client is planning to upgrad the system from BW 3.5 to BW 7.0. And i am assigned the task to upgrades these InfoObjects after the upgrade of system is done.
Could some one tell me how to upgrade these Objects so that they will be compatible with the new system BW 7.
The clien does not want to create all these objects from scrach once the system is upgraded to BW7.
ur help will be awarded in terms of point.

Yes u need not create these objects from scarch again!!

Hi Guru's,
I have two doubts regarding upgrade work.
1. when we are doing unicode remediation for the obslelute function modules, if in older system if they handling any exceptions how we can handle those in ECC new system. I mean to say if they are displaying some messages according to the exception how we can handle??.
2.Describe field statement with addition in CHARACTER MODE or BYTE MODE?..When to use CHARACTER MODE and when to use BYTE MODE??

Hello,
1. When replacing a obsolete function module, if any exceptions are handled, you will have to manually map those exceptions in the newer function module and handle accordingly.
2. The type of the field on which the DESCRIBE statement is used will determine if it should be a CHARACTER or BYTE mode. If the type is C,N,D,T,S go for character mode else BYTE mode.

Hi,
You genereate new solman key according to your system name and put that. This will work very well. Because when we create solman key then we have to define what is server name etc.

Upgrading project mostly involves testing with the existing system with the new system.SAP already released the release notes for this Upgrading ECC 6.0.
(1). YOu have to do unit test/Integration test/Regression test in your new system based on the business process documents prepared for your present system.
(2). You mostly encounter Interface issues(If exist)/Authorization issues/Enhanced naming issues/Usage issues.
(3). In 46C you have to do external configuration for CIN.However In ERP 2005, It is already in built.Hence Knowledge of CIN will be more than sufficient to manage the CIN issues.
(4). More over you must be very confident in the business process.Unless you will receive many UAT issues.
(5). I strongly advice you based on my experience, Whenever you do unit test and Integration test, use your user id to.When you do regression testing, get the user id from user copy all the roles from the user id and create new id.Using this new id you do the Regression testing.This will avoid many problems.
(6). Another Imprtant big issue is patch work infomation.After release of 46C, SAP released many patches for 46C.However these patches are all not updated in to your present 46C system.These patches are already in in built in ECC 6.0, hence you will get diff.result when you do testing.If such a case, advice the user about the patch work, and proceed. In most of my cases , SAP enjoyed with 46C without patch scenario, but in ECC6.0 they started to complain, b'cas the new patches.
(7).Give me your mail id ,I will send you the release notes.
(8).Note down my forum discussion to know about the some of the issues.

BW Upgrade - Urgent fix while upgrade

Hi,
We are in the pre-upgrade stage for B3.5-->BI7.3 upgrade.
We have copied current development box (BWD) .This copy instance box is called BWC.
BWC transport path is connected to the quality (BWQ) and production(BWP).
BWD will be upgraded to BI7.3.
Can i know for urgent fixes , we will be using BWC, transport to BWQ and BWP.
Do we need to manually perform the fix again on BWD and transport it to production once the upgrade is fully completed?

Hi,
I don't agree with your procedure:
- why you want to upgrade bwd? and connected BWC with BWP? Why so difficult?
- don't copy bwd. Do you have there all data, queries, process chains? Use a copy from BWP for testing.
I want do this:
- test the upgrade on BWC. Open the sytem: test also the development functions.
- when it is ok, do the upgrade on BWD, bwq and bwp. And delete the system BWC - its only a sandbox/testsystem.
- so, you dont need to transport objects to different "development" systems.
- the upgrade is done on an weekend. So, you dont have urgent fix while upgrade.

Regarding upgrade of web report\web templates functionalites BW 3.5-BI 7.0

         I m working on a Upgrade study from BW 3.5 to BI 7.0 for Web Templates,web items and java scripts.
Below is the scenario of the client system:
New web templates are created from the 6 master web templates available for publishing to a custom Portal (created using BSP and hosted on the WAS). TOOLBAR and FOOTER are custom web templates used in all Master Templates and contain various JavaScript functions and footer code respectively.
TOOLBAR provides the Toolbar, header and buttons functionalities in the Master Templates via the contained Javascript functions. FOOTER displays the date and time of issue as well the logged in user.
FOOTER1 and FOOTER2 are web items derived from FOOTER web template. They have different set of web item properties and are used to create web templates used through the custom Portal.
It is observed from BW Tables that out of 100 unique Web Templates available in the system, 90 are using TOOLBAR template and 95 are using FOOTER template.
No external Javascript .js files are used in the Web templates. Most of the Javascript functionality is contained in TOOLBAR and no other custom javascript in master templates. However, there are some derived web templates where custom javascript is contained.
Following is the process to create custom Web Templates in development server that are eventually transported to QA and Production:
1)     The appropriate master template is identified and saved with new name in developer role.
2)     Dataprovider is added to corresponding web items.
3)     From the library, properties are transferred from master template to the custom template.
4)     Report title is added in HTML tab.
5)     No changes are needed in the Web Templates Properties except change of value in Show Jump Target in field to the portal Frame ConPortal or _self in case RRI is to be used.
6)     Some properties like Title, Width in Pixel, Affected Data Provider, etc. needs to be adjusted. Changes can be done to web items seen in Overview tab except the FOOTER and TOOLBAR web items. These web items are saved as reusable components in Library.
7)     After all the changes the web template created is transported from development server.
To summarize, all master data for creation of web templates like reusable master templates, web items in library, web templates containing Javascript code are stored in dev. server. Custom web templates created from these are transported.
I want to validate the sequence of migration as below:
Following sequence has to be followed for the Web Templates and Queries Migration in development BI 7.0 Server:
1)     Migrate the Individual BEx Queries first and perform functional testing.
2)     Migrate the TOOLBAR template manually (create as new in BI 7.0 Toolset) and FOOTER template automatically (using Migration Tool).
3)     Manually migrate the JavaScript code in TOOLBAR. Please refer to section ..for more details.
4)     Migrate the library of reusable web items, if any.
      (What to do if web item is custom or is not supported in BI 7.0)
5)     Migrate the Master Web Templates manually (create as new in BI 7.0 Toolset) and automatically (wherever possible) and perform functional testing.
6)     Migrate the custom web templates automatically (wherever possible) and manually, if automatic migration is not possible. Perform functional testing and data provider binding.
7)     Perform jump target binding wherever applicable.
8)     Transport custom templates, TOOLBAR and FOOTER to QA and Production subsequently.
Also i have the following questions:
1. How to migrate functionalities accessed thru web templates like jump queries, general navigation blocks with filter, table interface, and are data providers automatically linked to web items or have to be done manually post migration.
2. Do we need to migrate the library of reusable web items also.
3. After migrating the master web templates and javascript containing templates to BI 7.0, can we migrate automatically the custom webtemplates derived from master templates and containing the custom javascript that is now avaialbe in BI 7.0, will they pick up the custom code automatically.

Need help regarding upgrading Oracle 10g Forms to Oracle 11g Fusion Middlew

Hi All,
I am trying to create a workshop on a VM for showing the migration / upgrading of Oracle Forms 10g to Oracle 11g FMW using the Upgrade Assistant tool available in <ORACLE_HOME>/bin/ua.bat.
As per my understanding of pre-requisites:
1)     I need to install Oracle SOA Suite 10g on my VM.
2)     I also need to install Oracle SOA Suite 11g on my VM.
3)     I need to install Oracle Forms/Reports Services 10g on my Oracle SOA Suite 10g installation.
4)     I need to run Oracle Forms/reports installer on my Oracle SOA Suite 11g installation.
5)     I need to run upgrade assistant tool on my VM to upgrade my form from source(Oracle SOA Suite 10g) to destination(Oracle SOA Suite 11g). Is it mandatory for this migration that I should have Oracle SOA Suite 10g and Oracle SOA Suite 11g on the same system ?
Having all these software installed on one VM would be difficult. So just wanted to check can I avoid any software to install on VM ?
If there is any alternative suggestion then please let me know.

What do you want to do with the SOA-suite? At least for Froms10G is is not necessary.

Disk utility no longer working after 5.3.1 upgrade - urgent!

After all of my talk about not becoming an early adopter, this happens - tonight I upgraded my AirPort software to 5.3.1, but after resolving a brief episode of not being able to connect to my AEBS, I was able to restore my Internet access. What I haven't been able to do is mount my USB hard drives. They are visible when I open AirPort Utility, but no matter how many times I try to adjust the settings - changing passwords, even allowing guest access - the hard drives do not stay mounted. The moment I click on one of them, I get the spinning wheel and then the "disconnected from server" error message, and poof, they disappear. What's more, I tried to "downgrade" back to 5.2.1, but I'm not allowed to. I have more than 300 GB of files that I can't gain access to, so this is a serious problem, especially since I have two computers. Help is urgently needed.

I suggest you get a proper NAS with a USB port and hang your disks off that - solved all my problems...

Currently i am using EBAN table but other tables like t161s etc are not able too have link with them.

â a new Oracle home
â an existing Oracle home created when Oracle Business Intelligence Tools was
installed
Note that Oracle Business Intelligence 10g (10.1.2) cannot share the same Oracle home
with:
â previous versions of any of its components or with Oracle Developer Suite
Preinstallation tasks
Before you install 2-3
â any Oracle database installations
â Oracle Application Server Forms and Reports Services 10g standalone server

You mentioned that you selected an existing home in the Installer, so maybe this is causing the problem? Try a new home and see if it works.

Regarding RFC [ URGENT ]

I am updating a table in SCM server with the data from R/3 tables. I am using RFC with destination.
I created an FM[RFC] in R/3
I created a program in SCM, in that i am calling that RFC.
I created a dummy RFC in SCM with the same paramters.
When i am executing the FM in R/3 i could able to fetch the data as output including some return value.
But when i am executing the program which is calling the RFC i am not getting the data.
But i am able to get the return value in R/3 FM[RFC]*
So i am sure that logical destination name is working
[ call 'FM' destination 'dest name' ].
My problem is i am not getting the data to the SCM server eventhogh i could able to get data in R/3 and I could able to connect to remote server.
*Guys Kindly let me know the solution for this it's a bit urgent

In the RFC function place the code as infinate loop. like
Data : x type c.
do.
if not x is initial.
exit.
endif.
enddo.
when you execute this the process will stop in this loop. Go to SM50 and select the process in debug mode. And in the debug mode you can change the value of x. then you can continue from that step in debug mode and you can trace.
