I would like to add one more thing in my original querty it is -
On this url: http://h20426.www2.hp.com/program/windows7/upgrade/ap/en/index.html
If you meet all three eligibility requirements, then you may proceed to order your Windows® 7 Upgrade Kit from HP
» Read Before you Order -
Click in the > Read Before you Order. You will see a message on the top of the screen which says -
Read Before you OrderHP has contracted with a third party company to fulfill the Windows® 7 Upgrade Option Program from HP. Orders will be accepted June 26, 2009 until February 15, 2010. Proof of purchase must be submitted and postmarked no later than March 1, 2010. You will receive your Windows® 7 Upgrade Kit after Windows® 7 becomes publicly available October 22, 2009. For additional information, please read Know Before You Upgrade
If eligibility requirements are not met, you may be able to upgrade to Windows® 7 upon public availability October 22, 2009.
So, the query now is "if eligibility requirements are not met" like in my case -
-> PC is capable for upgrade to Windows 7
-> But purchase date is 23-May-2009
So, can I eligible to get the Windows 7 Upgrade from Hp by paying its cost to HP !!!

  • FCP4- FC Studio $199 upgrade offer: my experience so far

For anyone still sitting on the fence waiting to read more real-life experiences before sending away their FCP install disk along with a bank check or plastic card #, here’s my story as of March 21:
For the past few weeks, I scanned through every discussion string I could find that mentioned the Studio crossgrade/upgrade. Two recurring suggestions I considered helpful were to make a copy of the install disk, and to get some sort of delivery confirmation.
I believe the install disk is copy protected, so I didn’t bother making a physical copy, but I did make a disk image. I don’t know if I could actually install FCP from the image w/o it asking for the original disk, but it makes me feel better to have at least something other than just a photocopy until Studio arrives.
I decided to go with USPS Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation & no insurance. I figured even if the disk got damaged enroute, that wouldn’t be a problem as long as it was recognizeable as a genuine FCP4 install disk. Also, I wrote my name & email address on the disk in case it got separated from the order form in the depths of the processing center.
One thing that stumped me initially was that the number [0Z691-4431-A] printed on my FCP4 (academic) install disk didn't match any of the qualifying numbers on the Upgrade order form. Fortunately, I held on to the original box FCP came in, and there on the outside is a little barcode sticky label with M9153LL/A, which is a qualifying number.
    Here’s the timeline:
    March 14 (Tue) mailed disk
March 17 (Fri) delivery confirmed by USPS
March 21 (Tue) Apple confirms receipt on website
Having gotten this far, it’s unclear to me if, in exchange for my academic FCP, I’ll be upgraded to the academic or the retail version of Studio. The Apple receipt indicates they’ll be shipping me (when available) Part # MA411Z/A.
For anyone reading this who sent in a retail FCP disk and received confirmation for the ugrade: is the Part # you received the same as mine, or is it something different?
    G4 1.4GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Ray, thanks for your earlier post on the part # for the upgrade.
Regarding your comment about the standard or universal version of Studio, this is what's on the Apple web page explaining the upgrade offer: "Upgrade your standalone version of Final Cut Pro, Soundtrack Pro, Motion, or DVD Studio Pro and get the complete Universal version of Final Cut Studio."
So it would seem the Apple dude you spoke with wasn't completely schooled on the offer.
And to wwalker, for all the years I've been monitoring this discussion board, on some regular basis a question pops up about the difference between the academic & retail version of the software. The correct answer, which you gave, is none.
However (there's always a 'however'), a big difference is the upgrade path. Up thru FCP3, the owner of an older academic version could upgrade directly to the newer retail version, which was a good deal when a student became a former student and was no longer eligible for the academic discount.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought starting with FCP4, if an academic owner wanted to upgrade to FCP5 (when it was standalone), he/she had to either pay full retail, or, buy the newer academic version (if still eligible for it) at the full academic price -- which made starting out with the academic version more expensive in the long run.
So, if the upgrade from academic FCP4 is to retail FC Studio, that's better than a great deal. Thanks Apple.

Flex 2.5.31 bug: As Regards Wine CVS Users: No Clear Downgrade Path: Please Advise
Wine CVS (at least dx9-wine tree) fails with flex error (lex.yy.c error, etc):

  • Mac/Win upgrade?

Can someone please tell me how the Mac/Win upgrade works?  Can I install one copy on a Mac and one on Windows with the same $299 license? If so, would one get one serial number that works on both platforms? I heard that you get two seats.  If I install one on a Mac and the other on the same Mac with bootcamp for WIndows, does that use up my twp seats or does that just count as one since its on the same computer and can not be used by two people?

    Cheers
My Mac arrived yesterday, so I put the DVD in (it's a download only version, rather than a shipped box) and there didn't seem to be a Mac installer. In sheer naiveity even tried running setup.exe (!) but no joy.
Other info I've read since does seem to imply that this rep was wrong. Does anyone else know more about the process, or, if the rep was right, how I go about installing from that DVD?
    Cheers - Mac noob...

  • FrameMaker 9 upgrade offer -- Adobe sales lacks information. Any ideas?

When I started up my Frame 9 copy, the splash screen displays a "Limited Period Offer" of 40% off to buy FM 12. Except the Adobe 12 web page, the direct sales rep I called, and the customer support rep I was transferred to have no information about this.
Does anyone have any more information about upgrading FM 9, and how I might actually "save 40%" when upgrading?
A screen shot of part of the FM splash screen with the upgrade offer is here:

Besides being expired, I seem to recall that the offer was only for a
discount on the subscription version of the program and not on the
perpetual license version. The subscription version is bad because, if
you stop paying the subscription fee, the software stops working.
Upgrade pricing is only available from FM10 or FM11.
I must say that I do not like Adobe's upgrade policies. A person who has
already purchased FrameMaker 9 has already paid for 99% of the features
in FM12. Why they should be forced to buy the new version of the program
at full price just to get a few new features is ridiculously unfair.

  • Is it still possible to upgrade from CS4 to CS6 after the upgrade offer ended in 2012?

Is it still possible to upgrade from CS4 to CS6 after the upgrade offer ended in 2012?  I have not found the option to do so.

My family owns and operates a non-franchise entertainment facility (miniature golf, laser tag, arcade, pizza, parties...).  I have a design background, so among the many things I do here I'm also able to create marketing materials and an online presence in-house which would be too expensive for us to outsource.  Over a five year period, that's given us a software cost of right at $1 per day since our CS3 license ran around $1800.  Our customers are the public, and the package we try to push for walk-in traffic costs $50 for four people.  In exchange, they get unlimited mini golf, a game of laser tag, and a large pizza.  Not a bad deal.  If we were to earn $1800 from that group of four every five years, assuming they spent $50 each visit, that'd bring them here close to two times every three months.  For our type of business in a city of 118,000 tight-fisted Germans, that's about right.
What, are you trying make me feel GUILTY about being upset that Adobe's new strategy negatively affects my livelihood?
As far as Adobe's policy change announcement goes, I have no idea how it was announced.  I DO know I was not sent an email notification, though they have my email address and record that I'm a CS3 owner.  Presumably it was announced somewhere on Adobe's website, and further disseminated through various digital and print trade publications.  I respect Adobe's right to not reverse its decision.  If our business decided to put a sign on the front doors (since we don't have contact info for all of our past customers) saying we'd closed that night at 5 PM instead of 11 PM as usual, we aren't obligated to let in latecomers.  But I'd also recognize their right to be mad at us for wasting their travel time.  What I WOULDN'T do is tell them it's THEIR fault for not being proactive and calling ahead to confirm the expectation that our hours are still the same as they've been for the last decade.  NOR would I be surprised if we didn't get their $50 that month.  These Germans tend to hold grudges.

  • Pl give ur suggestion regarding SAP upgradation

    Hello Experts,
We are running SAP R/3 4.5B version, now we are planning to upgrade to version 4.7 . At present we are going through the release notes of both the versions and talking to the experts regarding this upgrade.
As this is the best foram for SAP, could some body tell us technically what are the enhansments in version 4.7. and one very important questions is, if we upgrade to version 4.7 do we need to make any kind of changes in the current running ztables and programs, particularly Enhansments, ALE/IDOC configurations, our batch jobs etc..
I will really appreciate ur views.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Hardik

    Hi ,
    Thx for ur reply.
That is true we are going to buy upgraded license.
We even understand that 4.7 puts some additional features.
How ever we need to make sure that, we don't need to change any of our current programs and database structure. Pl give me ur views..
    Regards,

  • "Free" X! upgrade offer, well maybe not so free - Caveat Emptor

Last week I and at least one of my neighbors received a promotional email offering free upgrade and installation to Xfinity X1. Sounded great, so I bit the hook. I used the web interface to complete the upgrade. All Comcast wanted was an authorization that I was the account holder. After a short period, I got an email indicating they got my order. Today, I get a confirmation email of the upgrade, along with a readout of changes that will occur to my account. No installation or upgrade fee showed up, but there was a $10 X! DVR service charge added to my account. We do not have DVR service on our present plan, and have no interest in DVR service. I view this as an unauthorized bait and switch tactic. I immediately called Comcast and canceled the order. What most upsets me is that there was no indication anywhere on the sign up site that there would be additional service charges automatically tacked on to my account. Free upgrade to me means that my account charges stay the same. Apparently, Comcast has a much narrow definition. This fiasco is in direct contrast to a really nice upgrade plan that they offered me a few months ago, which I took, and the ease in which our plan was upgraded, without any surprise charges showing up.

You definition is way more limited than that of Comcast's description of the service. From the web info on X1:X1: Overview and User Guide "IntroductionXFINITY on the X1 Entertainment Operating System is simply extraordinary! What is X1?X1 delivers the simplest, fastest and most complete way to access all your entertainment on all your screens.
With X1, you experience TV and Internet together like never before with advanced search, personalized recommendations, apps at home and on the go and the fastest in-home Wi-Fi for all rooms, all devices, all the time." Some of that extra power sounded nice, and clearly is beyond your narrow statement regarding DVR. Because I would receive a unit with a DVR does not mean that I want the DVR service. At one point in the past, I did have a cable box with a DVR,  but we did not subscribe to the service, nor were we charged for it. Thus, because a unit has a feature, in my estimation, it does not mean I must subscribe to the service. However, if having the X1 box means I must subscribe is Comcast's attitude, then that should have been made clear right up front in the promotional email, even if in small print. As I said, there were no such indications at any time before the confirmation email appeared.  Criticizing me for not calling about  promo to really check it out, is valid. To some extent, I was thrown off guard by the great previous experience I had on a Comcast upgrade; I will not make that mistake again.

  • $100 Smartphone Upgrade Offer?

If I upgrade from a basic phone to a smartphone to get the $100 gift card, can I buy the phone at my local Verizon store and still get the gift card?
Also, We have an EnV Touch, and a Samsung Reality we want to upgrade. Those do count as basic phones right?

Hello cpwish! I'm here to answer your questions about your upgrade! With regards to your interest in participating in a $100.00 trade-in program while buying new smartphones at a retail location, I would recommend inquiring with store personnel about any special offers at the time you decide to upgrade. And yes, the EnV Touch, and the Samsung Reality are both basic function phones.

  • Crossgrade / Upgrade offer for Production Studio about to expire.

The offer on both US and UK Sites for the crossgrade / upgrade TO Production Studio from qualifying products and earlier versions is about the expire.
If you're thinking of ordering the crossgrade/upgrade you need to mail off your form by 19th March at the latest.

well serf, prepare to be very angry.
your understanding of the 49 dollar academic crossgrade from 5.0 to 5.1 is wrong, you will get 5.1 universal binary discs but you will use your academic serial number.
regarding upgrades to version 6, no one here knows as it's not out yet and speculating it's release is for the rumor sites and against the terms of usage apple stipulates to use these fora.

  • License key question with regards to upgrading from 7/8.1 to 10

Hi, I hope I've posted my question in the right area of the forum:
I understand that Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for Win7/Win8 users.
That's really wonderful but I was wondering what the exact mechanism with regards to our 7/8 license keys. Here's a couple examples to clarify my question:
first, example: I have Windows 7 Pro license and say I upgrade to 10 within the first year. Let's say I need to reinstall Windows after that first year is finished will I still be able to use that same license key I used to upgrade 7 to 10 to install a fresh
copy of Windows 10 or will I need to purchase a new license because the year is elapsed?
Here's another scenario. I upgrade to Windows 10 from 7 and after trying Windows 10 for while, I decide to uninstall 10 and go back to 7... because I'm crazy like that.... Will I be able to use my original Key for Windows 7 or is the upgrade a one way road:
where the 7 key turns into a Windows 10 key and can no longer be used to activate Windows 7?
    Thanks for the feedback!

    Hi Momashi
Here's another scenario. I upgrade to Windows 10 from 7 and after trying Windows 10 for while, I decide to uninstall 10 and go back to 7...
because I'm crazy like that.... Will I be able to use my original Key for Windows 7 or is the upgrade a one way road: where the 7 key turns into a Windows 10 key and can no longer be used to activate Windows 7?
If you Upgrade to Windows 10 and do not like it, for whatever reason.
Before you upgrade to Windows 10.
Create an image of windows 7 to an external HD and a recovery CD, using windows 7 Backup and Restore.
You can re-install windows 7 in the SAME SYSTEM using the recovery CD without using  a key.
    Hope it helps
Where did you get your outlandish information about a Windows 7 key turning into a Windows 10 key?  Nothing in the past has ever happened like this before, so what makes you think it will happen with Windows 10?
My Windows ME did not turn into a Windows XP key!
My Windows XP key did not turn into a Windows Vista key!
My Windows Vista key did not turn into a Windows 7 key!
    And so on!

    I have k8mm-v (MS 7142 v1.x) Micro ATX mobo with chipset k8m800-ce and VT8237
memory module required by the system: 184 pin unbuffererd ddr266/333/400 DDR SDRAM and can support upto 2 gb (this is as per motherboard manual)
    My questions:
    1.  whether I can upgrade system memory with ddr1 1gb ram
    2.  do ddr sdram and ddr1 one and same thing........
    3.  Now a days in india 512 mb ddr ram are costly and i want to know if there is any other way and i can upgrade my system partially or fully (if so what should i upgrade like mobo etc........) please do help me.
    4.  I came across HCL ddr1 ram which seems to be less costly ................i had feeling that they would not fit onto my ram sockets (on motherboard) ..........I want to know if my hunch is real or i am just bit too nervous ...............and whether can I put HCL ram on to my system............please advise..............

This needs to be moved to an appropriate section in the forum by one of the moderators.
You would be indeed lucky to still find dealers that sell DDR400. At the same time you may have noticed that the prices for this RAM is way out of line with the current market price of DDR2 and DDR3. DDR3 is now becoming the mainstream standard and it would probably be appropriate to consider a change to this standard. If however you are happy with your set up and need more memory, then please consult the memory support list here : http://www.msi.com/uploads/test_report/TR10_173.pdf
If your mentioned HCL brand conforms to JEDEC standard, then there is no reason it should not work.
Suggest you do some reading on the JEDEC standard here: http://download.micron.com/pdf/misc/JEDEC79R2.pdf
It is always recommended that you use two identical mem modules in the two slots on your board, i.e. do not mix mem module size or mem modules with differing SPD values.
Your board does not support 2Gb modules. Your board supports 2Gb in total, i.e. 2 X 1Gb modules
I trust you will find more members giving you alternative solutions and recommendations.
I would like to be more specific, the "HCL ram" that I was talking about. Well, it happens to be name of company { "HCL  Infosystems Ltd." (http://www.hcl.in/) } which produces assembled computer system and they also produce RAMs and did not meant in terms of HCL compatibility list that Microsoft talks regarding hardware compatibility (I am soo sorry, I did not correctly posted the query correctly)
I am unable to find whether they make RAM according to JEDEC  standards.............
Please can any HCL guy ..................give me this clue to what standard they follow in making DDR 1 RAM
and thank you all for your kindness in providing heap of information..............thank you again and again ...........
