Regards standard available text variables based on exceptions.

I need to use text variables in last box of above link (which are based on exceptions) -->
XML_ER_NUMBER_TOTAL: Specifies the total number of exceptions that occurred.
XML_ER_NUMBER_BAD: Specifies the number of bad exceptions.
XML_ER_NUMBER_CRITICAL: Specifies the number of critical exceptions.
XML_ER_NUMBER_GOOD: Specifies the number of good exceptions.
But I can not see them in sytem (BI7 21pkg), all others are available...
is there a way to activate them....
I need them in SAP BI Information Broadcasting (in Subject line & Body of email)....

Hi,
Text variables do not work when the variable the column on which the variable is running does not have a unique value under it.
Is the text variable getting the appropriate value if the query is run as a table? If yes, then you will probably be better off opening a OSS message with SAP.

Calculating text variables based upon Internet look-up

I am working on a catalog of world paper money. I would like to include current face values of the various banknotes in this document.
Presently I am entering the face values manually after looking them up online. However, this approach means those values are going to be outdated very quickly.
What I'd really like to do is define a text variable that computes or calculates the face value using the denomination defined in the doc and multiplying it by the current exchange rate from a web site.
I can't seem to find any way to do this and would appreciate help finding a solution. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

I'm reluctant to say this can't be done, but it isn't going to be easy.
You will need to fetch the data from some Web site that provides it in a form suitable for processing by a program. That means sending an HTTP request, and as far as I can tell, the scripting API for InDesign doesn't provide any means of doing this (i.e. no equivalent of XMLHttpRequest). Possibly one of the scripting experts here will correct me, but if I'm right there is no obvious way of getting hold of the data from inside InDesign.
Unless, that is, InDesign CS4 has the Flash panels that John Nack is enthusing about so much for Photoshop. If it does, you could use ActionScript to fetch the data, and then put it into your document with JavaScript. Even if that's possible, it's a fair bit of programming.
As an alternative, you could perhaps write a Ruby script or something to fetch the data and store it in a text file so that you could use InDesign's data merge facility to incorporate it in your book. I never used data merge, so I can't tell how suitable that would be for your job.
Fetching data off the Internet to incorporate into an InDesign document is an eminently reasonable thing to want to do nowadays, but it is never going to be trivial. Possible some enterprising person could create a plug-in, or maybe you should put in a feature request to Adobe.
The Semantic Web was going to make this sort of thing easy, wasn't it? I wonder whatever became of it.

Regarding standard available Reports

Hi Gurus,
It will be a great help if anybody can give some ideas where and what kind of reports i can utilize for the following scenarios.
1. Is there any tool which can be used to distribute evenly the monthly forecast to
    weekely/bi-weekly?
2. Any standard reports to display shortage analysis?
3. Is there any report which can be used to find the unique component from a
    BOM i.e. it's not being used in any other bom's?
4. Are there any reports which shows us: what's the last time build requirements
    for specific product? What's the requirement if a customer requests more than
    what we are forecasting for a product?
If any body can give some suggestions or ideas how to find the reports/tools, that will be really helpfull and will be rewarded with points..

Text variable for Fiscal year/period

Hi gurus,
We are on BI 7.0 (PL 15). In G/L i am using the standard 0FISCPER text variable 0T_FPERF in the columns, which should e.g. produce the text "04.2008".
However instead it displays "4 .0800". Adding Fiscal year/period 0FISCPER to drilldown shows a correct format in the rows "APR.2008", so the problem seems to be only with the text variables.
I have checked on a reference 7.0 system where the same variable is working fine, so i assume that some fix must be available. Any hints as to what should be performed to correct this display error?

Hello Jamspam,
I had a similiar problem with indicators in BEX. I had an numerical indicator that displays me value in a very weird way.
My solution was to upgrade my frontend, with SAP Business Explorer patch.
Have you got the latest BEX patch (or others) on your frontend? No guarantees that will solve your case, but for me it worked

How to populate a text variable

Hi All,
I need to populate a text variable based on the value of a characteristic in the query. Since the value of the characteristic and the text variable value is not the same I cannot use replacement path. So here I have to use customer exit.
My problem is how to get the value of the characteristic in the customer exit.
If the characteristic is used in a variable I know how to get the value of the characteristic (We can get it from i_t_var_range). But here I am not using the characteristic in any variable. So how will I get the characteristic value in the customer exit.
Any useful help will be appreciated.

Based on my above scenario suppose that there are only two month values in the cube, say January and March. So in the column side there will be only two column for each key figure, if only month characteristic is there in the column side, one for January and the second for March. Here I want to populate "First" as value for text variable where January is there and "Third" as value of text variable where March is there.
Here you have mentioned "you can read all available values in cube and pass required value/text to text variables". Here how do I write a code to read the month values from the cube, that is my question.
If it is there in some variable I could have got it from "i_t_var_range". But as per user requirement I cannot use a variable restriction on the month and they want to use this text variable across the queries(which I am not creating, user themselves are creating the queries) based on their requirement.

Problem with text variable on 0CALMONTH2

Hello,
When I try to use a text variable based on 0CALMONT2, only 3 first caracters are displayed instead on the full text.
Example : for september the system display SEP.
How can I diplay all the text of the month ?

Would you check the value being returned by the text variable (not the characteristic), it may be set to Key rather than Text.
So select the Change Variable option and see what the display setting is for your text variable.

Fetch values from characteristic slection variable by using text variable

Hi Gurus,
i got BEx Variable for characteristic SalesOrganization. It is a selection variable.
Theat means the users can select one or more than one value. For example 001 or 001, 004.
Now i want to fetch these values by using a text variable. Problem ist that the standard SAP text variable in BEx can filled by using replacement path and i can only can select "from" or "to". But i only want the endtered values. Is there another way without using an User Exit?

Text Variable replace with Customer Exit Variable

Dear Experts,
I created a text variable based on replacementh path (instead of customer exit). The reference characteristic is same that as my customer exit Variable and replace it by Key.
I want to replace it with already Existing Customer Exit Variable but it is not displaying in the List Box even though existing variable option is mandatory.
Can any one Suggest me the answer for this.

I do not think you can select Customer Exit variable, if you see the type is selected to Char Value Variables and it is not editable.
It would be suggested to go for Customer Exit procesing type for your text variable.

Text variable for 0calmonth in the rows possible ?

Cal year Text Variable Offset

If you have a text variable based on 0CALYEAR say ZT_CAL as user input, can you have column headings based on an offset from the user input value? For example, the user inputs 2004 and I have 2 columns (current year and prior year). The current year shows up fine based on &ZT_CAL& but I can't make the prior year show up as 2003 using &ZT_CAL-1& or &ZT_CAL&-1.

Your approach does not work since my key figures are not RKF separately restricted by time. I am familiar with replacement path text variables working with restrictions.See the following typical example from APO:
Sales - Current year xxx
Sales - 1 Year Ago xxx
Sales - 2 years Ago xxx
All 3 key figures have the same 0FISCYEAR value. So when I run the query I need for the first row (or column) to say Sales - 2004, the 2nd row to say Sales - 2003 etc. based on a variable input of 2004.

Text variables for non-input ready variables

I have a query with a structure in the Rows section. The row structure contains three selections for different time periods. Two of the time periods are based on non-input ready variables for Calendar Month. The user will enter a calendar month and the other two selections will be based on the month that was inputted. Since the time periods are dynamic, I need the text in the rows to reflect the appropriate Cal. Month value. I have tried using a customer exit to define text variables but they are not working. My text variables are called "CMON_TXT_D01" and "CMON_TXT_D02". If the user selects 'Dec. 2010', the report would look like this
Dec. 2010 => user inputs this value
&CMON_TXT_D01& => customer exit calculates -1 month back from inputted value
&CMON_TXT_D01& => customer exit calculates -2 month back from inputted value
I need it to look like this if the inputted value was 'Dec. 2010'

Nov. 2010
Oct. 2010
I can get the text variable based on the input-ready variable to work but the two selections that are based on the non-input ready variables are not working. Does anyone know how to get the text variables to work for the non-inpjut ready variables?

I would do it this way;
1) Create a Row Structure
2) Create Row Selection for Dec 2010 by restricting Cal. Mth. by the User Input Var
3) Create Row Selection for Nov 2010 by restricting Cal. Mth. by the User Input Var with a Var Offset of -1
4) Create Row Selection for Oct 2010 by restricting Cal. Mth. by the User Input Var with a Var Offset of -2
5) Create a Text Var whose processing is by Replacement Path & choose Variable with the User Input Var under Replacement Path options
6) Edit the Description of each of the 3 Row Selections to contain the Text Var in (5)
7) The Text Var should automatically reflect the User Input selection & the offsets defined on the same in the Row Selection Captions

Standard SAP EXIT on Text Variables

Hello Experts,
I am working on Customer Aging Analysis. first of all I want to use standard SAP Queries and want to have a look on standard SAP EXIT created on variables.i have opened the query no 0FIAR_C03_Q0005. here it shows me one text variable 0P_KEYD2. now i want to see that SAP EXIT created on the variable of Posting Date.
I went to SE37. i entered the Function Module EXIT_SAPLRRS0_001. but i didn't get standard SAP EXIT given by SAP.
Can anyone tell me from where i can activate or Get the standard SAP EXIT ?

All standard SAP EXIT will work the same way you mentioned ?? means goto SE37 --> type Variable Name --> get that exit.

Text-Variables for 12 selection based on 1 Date Variable

Hello.
I have a report where the user is being prompt to enter a start date (YYYYMM) in a variable. Based on that, my report have 12 selection using the variable + offset(1), + offset(2) .... + offset(11).
For the label of my columns, I'd like to display the the YYYYMM value, what the best way to achieve that? From what I see, I might have to create 11 variables that are equals to my original variable entered by the user with the use of offset and then create 12 text variables to get that information but I really hope I'm wrong...

Ok, sounds a better way than defining 24 variables (12 text + 11 Replacement path).
Since I only have one variable (Month Selection by user), however, I'm not sure how to deal with the Offset in ABAP so I can properly assign my ZMONTH02TEXT, ZMONTH03TEXT, ZMONTH04TEXT and so on. Do you have any piece of code to share ? (Sorry, I'm pretty new to ABAP and I've been searching this forum for example but can't really find what I'm interested in).
Basically what I need to do is to assign the following:
ZCALMONTH01TEXT = ZCALMONTH --> The actual month is no problem as it's a simple replacement path variable defined
ZCALMONTH02TEXT = ZCALMONTH with offset of + 1
ZCALMONTH03TEXT ...
ZCALMONTH12TEXT = ZCALMONTH with offset of + 11
So it's ZCALMONTH02TEXT to ZCALMONTH12TEXT that I'm not sure how to code in the user exit..

Don't want to block the person, just have all his texts going directly to my email so that I can maintain a continuous record of his text contacts (rather than remain in text form).
It appears that I must select an option that makes ALL texts go to email, which I'd prefer not doing.
