  • Different Service Desks in different clients in the same Solution Manager?

    Hi
Is it possible to place different Service Desks in different clients in the same Solution Manager?
Concrete we plan the following  scenario:
    - Division 1
      -- System 1,2,3, etc.
-- Service Desk  in client 100
-- Monitoring for the whole trust in client 050 (still exists)
    - Division 2
      -- System 4,5,6, etc.
-- Service Desk in client 200
-- Monitoring for the whole trust in client 050 (still exists)
Is it possible to realize this scenario or are there any restrictions?

  • WAAS, wccp service groups and DC/Branch deployment

    Hi,
I have two design queries relating to wccp service groups and WAAS in DC and branch deployments.
Firstly, lets say at the DC end I use wccp service 61 (source address) on the WAN interface of my edge-layer switches. I configure the L3 interfaces on the same switches (connecting to the LAN side) to use use wccp service 62 (destination address). The WAEs are using L2 at the edge layer; with masking etc.
I've read that at the branch office you need to 'reverse' the service group setup - so that if I have the same sort of setup at the branch using 3750s and WAEs then the WAN interface should be using wccp service 62 and the LAN side using wccp service 61.
If I assume that is correct, then how does this affect things when two branches are communicating with each other (and they are both setup the same) - will be waas not be effective in this scenario? (Assume that the DC waas does not see any branch-to-branch communication).
What happens if you have a consistent design across your network (61 on WAN, and 62 at LAN interfaces across all WAAS sites)?
Secondly, when using L2 wccp redirection and masking; do most deployments leave the mask as default (0x1741)? I'm thinking that in some situations it might be better to have an entire geographic location covering a few branches being sent to the same DC end WAE. For example, I might want everyone on a /24 subnet in one branch to be using the same WAE/dre cache at the DC; rather than the possibility of duplicate dre caches on DC end WAEs service the same branch subnet (I realise that redundancy might be an advantage should one DC WAE fail).
Is there a table/calculator somewhere that can work out what mask I could use to cover /24 or /22 or even /16 subnets to direct requests to the same WAE at the DC?
    Thanks
    Cameron

    Cameron,
Excellent questions. Rule of thumb is to use source IP based load balancing, so in the branches 61/LAN - 62/WAN and in the DC 61/WAN and 62/LAN. That being said, if there is some site to site traffic at the edges, you may get some splitting, however, unless there is enough traffic to make it a "mini-dc", changing the services around is generally a wash. Also, if you only have a single WAE at the edge, it won't matter either.
On the mask, default mask is definitely not desirable. I generally use Calc and convert my desired Mask from Binary to Hex. The following examples are assuming 4 bit masks, but you can use from 1 up to 6 or 7 max bits if you need more buckets.
If you are looking to group /24, you could be 0xF00 or similar.
If you are looking to group /22, use 0x3C00 or similar
When calculating your mask, don't put your bits in the host bits, only in the network bits. Also, remember that the leftmost bit is usually the decision maker, so don't make it too far to the left or all your traffic will be on one WAE. The less WAEs in your WCCP cluster, the less bits you should use in your mask (allow some extras for fault tolerence).
    Hope that helps,
    Dan

  • Business Process Blueprinting Tool (BPB) Publish Error - Solution Manager 7.1 SP10

    Hello SCN members!
The company where I work recently implemented the SAP Solution Manager 7.1 SP10 and now we are trying to learn how to use the SAP Business Process Blueprinting (BPB) Tool to design all enterprise processes inside it.
I followed all the steps of the official BPB installation guide and from another BPB discussion (http://scn.sap.com/thread/3258935) but the tool is not working properly. Some relevant points are:
I can create and publish Business Scenarios but can’t do the same with Business Processes
    Business Scenario Created and Published:
Business Process created but not published, returning a connection error:
I don’t understand why the tool works for the Business Scenario level but not for the Business Process level. Could anyone help?
    The log details are:

    Hello SCN members!
I solved both of my problems in BPB tool and would like to share with the community the solution.
Basically I recriated both logical ports in soamanager:
    LP_SOCO_SOLAR
    LP_SMSY
This solved all my problems detected in the tool.
Thanks again for the suggestions showed!

  • VC deployed on the Solution Manager 4.0 J2EE

    Dear All,
I have just deployed the Visual Composer on the Solution Manager 4.0 J2EE, this version is based on a 7.0 basis.
Have you ever done something like this? maybe on any other SAP Netweaver 2004s solution.
    Does it works properly ?
    Regards,
    Giampaolo

    Giampaolo,
Yes, I've installed the VC. However, when I ran the installation, I needed to install the VC onto a portal, and a portal specifically. The VC is additional functionality, yes, but apparently needs the components provided by a portal installation to work correctly.
Do you have a portal available? If the J2EE stack attached to the SOLMAN is only a base J2EE stack, this may not work correctly.
    Cheers,
    Tim

  • Configure EWA and performance monitoring of portal in solution manager

    Hello All,
I want to configure EWA for portal in solution manager.
As well as want to get some data collection for performance of portal using solman.
so can anybody guide me for the same as well as provide some valuable inputs.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,

    Hello,
u mean perormance of portal right?
I would suggest you to start with configuring this EWA,when it is done you will get the performance data from EWA itself and then we can anaylze and move forward
But still if you want you can refer to notes 485933,1017324 and 934808

  • Prblem Service Desk configuration in Solution Manager 4.0

    Hi All,
Here I have done the configuration of Service Desk in Solution Manager 4.0 by using the document which I have for release 3.2. However I have face some problem in Step “Initially create and Assign the Satellite Systems as iBase C” and “Manually create and Assign the Satellite Systems as iBase Co” .So I exclude above mention step. But still I am able to create the support message from Satellite Systems.
So can please let me know whether it will work fine in upcoming time or Do I need to test my Service Desk configuration for same.
Moreover please let me know how to test Service Desk configuration for real time environment.
Following are the step and problem which I face while doing the Service desk configuration.
<b>STEP 1 #Initially Create and Assign the Satellite Systems as iBase C</b>
To be able to use the Service Desk and Change Request scenarios in SAP Solution Manager, you need to define the Installed Base (iBase). An iBase component has to be created for each satellite system from which Service Desk messages will be sent to the SAP Solution Manager system.
The iBase components for the iBase structure SOL_MAN_DATA_REP (installation 1) can be created and assigned either automatically or manually. Note that these components and the assignments can only be created once automatically for every solution.  To refresh your existing iBase data execute IMG activity Manually Create and Assign the Satellite Systems as iBase Components.
    Requirements:-
You have defined your system landscape in the Solution Manager System Landscapes(transaction SMSY).
    Activities:-
    1. In transaction SOLUTION_MANAGER,  open a solution.
    2. Choose Operations -> Service Desk.
    3. Choose Edit -> Initial Data Transfer for iBase.
The data is copied automatically. The iBase systems for the solution are automatically assigned to SOL_MAN_DATA_REP (installation "1"). An iBase component is created for each system installation number (which can be displayed by choosing System  ->  Status).
For each solution repeat these steps.
<b>Problem in STEP1 :-</b> I am not able to check the System &#61664; Status.
<b>STEP 2 #Manually Create and Assign the Satellite Systems as iBase Co</b>
In this IMG activity, you define the Installed Base (iBase) manually, i.e. for refreshing existing iBases after solutions have been changed.
An iBase component has to be created for each satellite system from which Service Desk messages will be sent to the SAP Solution Manager system.
    Activities:-
    1. In transaction Change Installed Base (IB52), use the input help (F4) to find the Installed Base with external ID SOL_MAN_DATA_REP.
    2. Continue as follows:
    •     If SOL_MAN_DATA_REP does not exist:
    a) Call transaction Create Installed Base (IB51).
    b) Choose iBase Category 01 (Installed Base).
    c) Choose Enter.
    d) Specify the iBase header data in the iBase section.
    e) Specify the external ID SOL_MAN_DATA_REP and enter a short description.
    •     If SOL_MAN_DATA_REP exists:
    a) Choose iBase No. 1 (SOL_MAN_DATA_REP).
    b) Choose the SAP WEB AS component.
    3. To assign the systems as iBase components, go to the Text item tab.
Three components are included in the standard package.
    4. Add all the satellite systems as text items to the table:
o     Column Short text: Description of the system
o     Column Identification: System ID, space, installation number
    5. Save.
After changes have been made to a solution, repeat these steps to update system landscape data for iBase.
    Note:-
Every system is only listed once in the iBases. That means a system is not listed in an iBase if it has been listed in another iBase before.
<b>Problem in STEP2:-</b> Here I am not able to find Text item tab as per point 3 .
    <b>STEP 3 # Assign Business Partners to iBase Components</b>
You need to assign business partners to the new iBase components.
    Activities:-
    1. In transaction Change iBase (IB52), choose Goto -> Partner
    2. Assign business partners with the following functions to the new iBase component systems:
    o     Administrator
    o     Key User
    o     Sold-to Party
    3. Save.
    4. Repeat these steps for each iBase component.
<b>Problem in step3 :-</b> In IB52 t-code screen there no any menu path like goto &#61664; partner
    Thanks a lot,
    Harshal

    Hi Harshall,
You have to enter the value as 1 in Installed base field and then press enter.
You will be taken inside and then you will be able to see the Goto - Partner screen.
    Hope this will help.
    Please reward points suitably.
    Regards,
    Naresh.

  • Java Web Services wrapper and connection management.

We are currently evaluating the use of the SES Java web-services for a custom front end. I've downloaded the sample code and have read through the documentation but I'm confused on a few points.
We will be OSSO protecting the app, so the flow I think I need to use is (on the OracleSearchService object):
    *setSoapURL
    *proxyLogin
    *setSearchUser
    *doOracleSearch
    (do whatever with results)
From what I can tell each one of these does a separate call into the actual web service. Does this keep a connection open between these calls and if so how do we need to manage our connections in this case. Is there an explicit close method we should be calling? I see that we can get an OracleSoapHTTPConnection from the undocumented getConnection method on OracleSearchService but I'm unsure if we are supposed to interact with it directly.
In a related vein how should we managing our OracleSearchService objects? Should we save an instance for each user in our httpSession, or just create a new instance on each call?
    Any insights appreciated,
    Jason

    No Problem at all
Nomally the Web Service is big different between Web application. or you can build your Web service structure like web application structure. It depends on the web server:
If the Web Server of hosting company has WEB Service framework, you just need know how to deploy your Web service to Web Service framework and How to deploy to Web Server. In this case, you need deploy it two time, one is for Web Server framework and one is for Web Service framework
If the Web Server of hosting company doesn't has WEB Service framework, you need build your own Web Service framework into a web application, then you just need know how to deploy your web application with Web service into Web Server framework

  • Setup and Configuration for a Solution Manager instance

I am setting up a  Solution Manager instance for a client in Australia.
Currently there is no reference client that I am aware of in Australia for Solution Manager.  So this is extremely important to get it right.  Also I am an independent contractor, so I am unable to call on any in-house experts from a consulting firm for help.
So I am looking for answers from some experts who have done this before.
Had some training on Solution Manager back in 2002.
Our client wants to setup the solution manager instance to monitor 9 SAP instances
    - 3 R/3, DEV, Q/A, PROD
    - 3 BI, DEV, Q/A, PROD
    - 3 Enterprise Portal, DEV, Q/A, PROD
Solution Manager is running in a separate instance for all those listed above.
In addition to the above the client would also like to user the service desk function of Solution Manager for in-house support of SAP, and push to service desk request onto their support partner and/or SAP directly.
    Question:
    1) Is it better to use the Solution Manager client 001 or create a separate client for the customer?
    2) How would you as the expert configure the service desk component to push service desk requests to the support partner (a 3rd party Service Desk Tool or another Solution Manager instance), and allow the customer to choose to send the request direct to SAP?
    3) The client would also like to use the Solution Manager Instance as the CUA environment, is this advisable?
    Kind Regards
    David Cooper

    Hello David,
    Please find th answers below:
    1. You should use  a separate client for solution manager rather than using a standard one
    2. You should configure your solution manager as the service desk for all type of support requests.Solution manager can send your requests to SAP and vice-vera.Why do you a third part tool and waste money of the client.Solution manager can do all for you very effectively
3.sure you should configure solution manager as CUA environment, there are no issues with that
Let me know of any questions

  • XI-Content for Solution Manager Service Desk

    Hi Experts,
From an SAP course (SMO150) I am reading that XI-Content should be available for SAP web services.  In particular I am interested in Solution Manager Service Desk content.  (This course is on Solution Manager Service Desk).
However when I go to look at the SAP official location for XI content I cant find anything on Solution Manager.
For an overview of the XI content currently provided by SAP, see the SAP Developer Network (SDN) under https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn.  In the navigation area, choose SOA Middleware ® Repository-Based Modeling and Design. On the Repository-Based Modeling and Design page, choose SOA Business Content.
Could anyone indicate where I can find Solution Manager Service Desk XI-Content? (if it exists).
    Many thanks,
    Brodo

  • Need Pre_requisites to install Solution Manager in Solaries 9 and Oracle 10

    Hi Administrators,
In my project, we have planned to implement Solution Manager 7.0 in O/S Solaries 9 and Database Oracle 10.2.
We are implementing this Solution Manager in already existing SAP server.
We have server like TSAPNGN, In this server already our QAS ECC 5.0 and QAS BW 3.5 are exist and running in this server.
I need information like, What is the pre_requisites to install SAP application, where already another SAP exist in Server.
    Appreciate ur help.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Jagan.

    Hello
There is no difference whether you are installing the Solution Manager on a separate server or an existing server already containing the DEV system. you will get some idea from these Notes
21960 Several instances/systems on one UNIX computer
28392 Two R/3 Systems on one Windows NT Server
322653 DB6: Two or several systems on a host
I think, you should go for Central System installtion for the Solman, with it's own database.
and what do you mean by 'standalone solman' here ?
Just go 'installation and upgrades' -> My application components -> SAP Solution Manager -> Solman 7.0 or EHp1 -> Installation and upgrades
    For installation guide
installation and upgrade guiedes -> SAP components -> SAP Solution manager -> Select solman version

  • Delete the old CUA and build a new CUA on the Solution Manager

    Hello together,
I'm about to delete the old CUA and build a new CUA on the Solution Manager.
The users are in multiple systems almost the same.
    This raises the following questions:
If I export the printers from the old CUA in a file and import into the new CUA (Solution Manager, then the printer can be administered directly in Solman?
Furthermore, if I depended on the second or third child System  and attached to the new CUA, the user description data are not overwritten, as bsp: with the description data of the last-connected system?
By delete the CUA child system in which users are blocked. Can you handle it?
    I thank you in advance
    Mirsad

    > If I export the printers from the old CUA in a file and import into the new CUA (Solution Manager, then the printer can be administered directly in Solman?
-->the assignment of printers, not the printers themselves of course....
    > Furthermore, if I depended on the second or third child System  and attached to the new CUA, the user description data are not overwritten, as bsp: with the description data of the last-connected system?
If you mean adress data, already existing adresses are not overwritten. Such users will show up in scug as 'identical' or different' and can be handled accordingly.
    > By delete the CUA child system in which users are blocked. Can you handle it?
Users without assignement to the central system get a global lock if the cua is removed in the central system. They still exist in usr02 in the central system, but with the global lock flag as indication, that they existed only for adminstrative means. The local lock flags in the child systems stay untouched. So if you take over these users into the new CUA they get the correct lock flag form the child system.
