Regd :oracle in oraclient11g_home1

Hi Everyone,
We have 32 bit and 64 bit ODBC administrator in windows server 2008r2.
32bit:
C:\windows\syswow64\odbcad32
64bit:
C:\windows\system32\odbcad32
I want to create a new datasource using 32 bit odbc administrator, but I am not able to view "oraclient11g_home1" driver in that odbc administrator list, where as I can view the same in 64 bit odbc administrator.
But our application support 32 bit drivers only.so can some pls help me how to add oraclient11g_home driver to 32 bit odbc administrator.
Thnx,
Charan

I had this problem like 5 yrs back that was due to some date issue
This is somehting to do with the conversion of data or datype... look in that angle

  • Steps to connect SQL Server to Oracle works but WHY ??

The following steps is what I have to do in order to get SQL Server to talk to an Oracle database.
These steps, for me, work 100% of the time. Any deviation from the following steps will result in failure.
Rebooting the machine didn't make any difference between each of the steps.
My question is why I have to install the client a second time?
All the documentation that I have found at Oracle, Microsoft, or elsewhere state that I only need the InstantClient.
    =========================================
Some server I don't have access to
with Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0 - 64bit installed
    Windows XP SP3 - 32bit
with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP3 installed
The following steps are done on the Windows XP machine.
    1) install win32_11gR2_client
    Select: InstantClient (174.0MB)
    Path: C:\Oracle
    2) install ODTwithODAC112021
Select: Oracle Data Access Components for Oracle Client
    Oracle Base: C:\Oracle
    Name: OraClient11g_home1
    Path: C:\Oracle\product\11.2.0\client_1
    3) Add entries for tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora
    4) Ensure environmental variable ORACLE_HOME is set to C:\Oracle\product\11.2.0\client_1
    5) SQL Server Management Studio
Check "Allow Inprocess" for Oracle Provider OraOLEDB.Oracle
    Restart SQL Server
Try to add link to Oracle - fails to connect

OLE DB provider "OraOLEDB.Oracle" for linked server "ORACLEDB" returned message "".
    (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 7303)
    6) install win32_11gR2_client
    Select: Administrator (1.02GB)
    Oracle Base: C:\Oracle
    Software Location: C:\Oracle\product\11.2.0\client_1
    7) Ensure environmental variable ORACLE_HOME is set to C:\Oracle\product\11.2.0\client_1
    8) Ensure tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora still exist and are unchanged.
    9) SQL Server Management Studio
    Restart SQL Server
Add link to Oracle - Successful

You actually installed the client *3* times there.
I'm fairly sure install Instant client via win32_11gR2_client will not give you oraoledb. ODAC and administrator/runtime will though.
You should only need install ODTwithODAC112021 OR win32_11gR2_client (with runtime or administrator option) and be able to connect using SQLServer.

  • Re: 32 Bit ODBC Driver for Oracle 11g 11.2.0.1.0

    Hi,
Were you able to resolve the problem with these troubleshooting measures ?
Please let me know since i am facing similar issues like yours.
I am using a Windows 7 64 bit and from QTP installed on this machine ,  i am trying to connect to Oracle database.
Now initially i installed a 64 bit ODBC for Oracle . But when i did that and ran the Script below :
    Set objDatabase = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
    Set rs=createobject("adodb.recordset")
    objDatabase.open "DRIVER={Oracle in OraClient11g_home1} ; DATA SOURCE=Oracle; SERVER= xyz ; DATABASE=abc1; UID=abc ; PASSWORD= abc123;"
rs.Open "select * from tablename", objDatabase
    'result1 = objDatabase.Execute("select * from tablename")
    'msgbox result1
    Do while not rs.eof
    print rs.fields("columnname")
    rs.movenext
    Loop
    print rs.fields("columnname")
    it gives me an error
“[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application”
So i am assuming that i need to install the 32 bit ODBC drivers for Oracle as well in addition to the already installed 64 bit drivers ..
    Any thoughts on this ?

64 bit apps need 64 bit Oracle client software.
32 bit apps need 32 bit Oracle client software.
You should be able to tell the bit-ness of the app by checking the Process tab in task manager to see if it has *32 next to it.
You can install both 32 bit and 64 bit Oracle client software on the same box, but you need to do it into different homes, and different oracle_base should also be used.
There isnt an Oracle client install bundle that installs both, you'll need to do each separately.
    Hope it helps,
    Greg

  • Oracle Merant driver not available

    Hi friends,
For Creating ODBC Database Connections for DAC Client, i need to create ODBC connection and for it i tried to give ODBC connection for oracle database and they adviced the below points in the docs like
To create ODBC connections for Oracle databases
    1. On the Windows machine that will host the DAC Client, navigate to the ODBC
    Data Source Administrator.
Use the System DSN tab of the ODBC Data Source Administrator to create an
ODBC connection to the Oracle Business Analytics Warehouse database using the
Oracle Merant ODBC driver that is supplied with Oracle BI Applications.
For example, you might create a database connection called Connect_to_OLAP.
    2. Click the System DSN tab.
    3. Click Add.
    4. In the list of drivers, select the Oracle Merant ODBC driver that is installed with
DAC, for example, Oracle Merant ODBC Driver in DAC 10g_Oracle - OH1.
But i couldnt find Oracle Merant ODBC Driver in DAC 10g_Oracle - OH1 driver in my System DSN, hence i have installed DAC softwares successfully. Then how it is possible to establish a ODBC Connection to DAC like mentioned in docs.
The drivers that i found are below like
    Oracle BI Server 11g_OH161304452
    Oracle in OraClient11g_home1
    Informatica Data Services ODBC Driver
    MERANT OEM 5.3 32-BIT Btrieve
Whether it is possible to establish a ODBC connections using the above drivers or i need to install Merant ODBC driver inorder to establish ODBC Connection.
    Kindly advice me.
    Regards,
    Saro

    Hi Svee,
Thanks for the reply again, yes i can find "odbcad32.exe"
    C:\WINDOWS\system32 and SysWOW64.
Soon after clicking that, the ODBC Data Source Administrator open(in which it generally opens (via) Administrative tools>>Data Sources(ODBC))
But in that svee, i can find so many Merant drivers under System DSN tab along with the below drivers
    Oracle BI Server 11g_OH161304452
    Oracle in OraClient11g_home1
    Informatica Data Services ODBC Driver
SQL ServerThese are the MERANT Drivers that are available
MERANT OEM 5.3 32BIT(xml, txtfile, Sysbase wire protocol, SQL Sever protocol, Oracle wire protocol etc)
Whether i need to choose any one of those merant drivers. I choosed and tried with Oracle wire protocol but it is returning error like Registry not found.
    So, like you said
Since you got Oracle 32 bit client this should work.
I tried with the Oracle client driver "Oracle in OraClient11g_home1" and tried to configure with the user but it resulted in error like ORA-12170 TNS: Connect timeout Occurred. Since my tnsping odbidb1 is pinging.
What might be the problem Svee.
And also i created too many users in my database with the following table spaces like
    Users----->Table spaces
    DAC---->OBIEE_TOOLS
    INFO--->OBIEE_DATA
    BIAPPS-->EBSAPPS
    BIAPPS--->BIAPPS
In the above i used the user INFO while installing informatica server.
So, whether i need to use the same user INFO while configuring with DAC, in the sense while connecting ODBC connectivity for the DAC(for username/Password) whether i need to use the same user INFO or else i need to use the other user that i created.
    Thanks.
    REgards,
    Saro

  • Oracle ODBC Driver - latest version

    Hello,
I installed the latest ODAC version (i.e. ODAC 11.2 Release 3 and Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio (11.2.0.2.1)) on my Windows system.
However, when I check the ODBC driver version in ODBC Data Source Administrator I see:
    Oracle in OraClient11g_home1 - version 11.01.00.07
    I was expecting version 11.2.0.2.0
Also, if I create a new ODBC data source and click on Test Connection -> About, I get:
    Oracle ODBC Driver
    Version 11.1.0.7.0
    Copyright @ 1996, 2007 Oracle
I am really confused, why I cannot see the latest 11.2.0.2 version installed???
    Thank you,
    M.R

There's a bug filed for that. The driver is actually 11202 (you can check the build date), but the version number didnt get rev'd.

  • Unknown Database Connector Error using Oracle stored procedures

We are using an Oracle database for the first time with our Crystal Reports, and I am attempting to modify a report to use a new stored procedure.  When I attempt to add either the new procedure, or to add a new copy of the existing procedure, I get an error message:
    Unknown Database Connector Error
If I remove the existing procedure first (leaving no database objects at all), and then attempt to add back exactly the same stored procedure that I just removed, I get a different error message:
Database Connector Error: '42000:[Oracle][ODBC]Syntax error or access violation'
Neither of these errors is particularly helpful.  The stored procedure in question works as is.  I can run it in SQL Developer, and it also executes within the existing report if I run it.  Unfortunately, it needs to be modified and given a new name, so I need to be able to add the new stored procedure to the report.
The operating system is Windows XP Professional version 2002 SP3.  The Oracle version is 11g (11.2.0.2.0).  Crystal reports version is Crystal Reports 2008 (12.3.0.601).  The stored procedure returns a refcursor.  The ODBC connection is created using the "Oracle in OraClient11g_home1" driver.  When I test the connection, it tells me it was successful.
If it matters, the report is a Saba report.
Can anyone shed any light on what the problem is and how to fix it.  If the solution is to upgrade the Windows version, that is under the control of our tech support and there is no information available as to when it will happen.

Yes - I had used the Set Datasource Location to point to the correct ODBC connection.  I get the same results with an existing report as I do with a new blank report.
I have no idea where the service market place is.  Honestly, I find the entire SAP site confusing.  I found one reference to the PAM guide, but when I clicked on it, it insisted on a userid/password, and apparently the userid/password I have for this discussion group doesn't pass.  I did find, eventually, a document called "Crystal Reports 2008 Service Pack 3 for Windows - Supported Platforms".  When I read it, it tells me that it's compatible with Oracle 11g, generic ODBC, and Windows XP SP3, which is what we are using.  I'm hoping that this document has equivalent information to the PAM guide.

  • VBScript not working in OBI11g iBots in Win 2008 Server r2 - 64bits

    Hi,
we are facing issues whilw running vbscript from OBI11g 64 bit (11.1.1.5.0 (Build 110427.0752 64-bit) in Win2008 64bit server.
its running fine in win2003 32bit Server.
    The VBScript works as follows...
    1. Connects to Oracle DB (Oracle 11g 64 bit driver)
    2. Gets a max(Date) from a Table
3 Creates a folder with that max(date) on shared drive.
The script is working fine when running standalone - by double-clicking the .vbs file.
But not working from the iBot.
    its thowing the below error:
    *[nQSError: 66013] [Line:18 Column:1]*
*[nQSError: 66016] Unknown error code '0x8007007E'.*

    Its failing in "CreateObject" line.
    But everything works fine in win2003(32 bit)//OBI11g(32 bit)//Oracle 10g(32bit)
we think, its a 32/64 bit issues from the OBI side... but couldn't figure out the solution.

  • Installing 32-bit alongside 64-bit

I have the 64-bit drivers installed successfully on my 64-bit Windows 7 system, and they work correctly. I need to install the 32-bit drivers as well, but I haven't been able to make them work yet. When I open the 32-bit ODBC Data Source Administrator, it lists a driver (Oracle in OraClient11g_home1, which is also listed in the 64-bit administrator -- is this the first sign of a problem?), but when I select it I get the following error:
The setup routines for the Oracle in OraClient11g_home1 ODBC driver could not be loaded due to a system error code 126: The specified module could not be found (C:\app\currentUser\product\11.2.0\client_1\SQORAS32.DLL.
My 32-bit drivers (installed from the win32_11gR2_client package) are installed to the C:\app\currentUser\product\11.2.0\client_1 folder, while the 64-bit drivers are installed to C:\oracle\product\11.2.0\client_1. Should the 32-bit drivers be installed as client_2? Is that another problem? Have I missed an installation/configuration step? The registry lists Oracle in OraClient11g_home2 as being installed to the correct C:\app... folder, but I don't understand why it doesn't appear in the ODBC administrator.

As I think you suspected, you'll need a second Oracle Home. I hit the same issue trying to install a program that required the 32 bit client (PLSQL Developer).
You can find my steps for doing so here:

  • Retrieving Unicode characters with MS Query

    Hi.
I am using MS Query to retrieve data into Excel from an Oracle database.  The data contains several different characters (such as degree and diameter symbols) which are stored as Unicode, but the query returns the same character for all of them.
In the MS Query window the special characters appear as upside down question marks; in Excel they show as white question marks in a black diamond.  The ASCII code of the character displayed in Excel is '63', and the UNICODE() value is 65533.  This
isn't the character that is stored in the Oracle database.
Is there a way to correctly retrieve these characters?
The ODBC driver is Oracle in OraClient11g_home1, version 11.02.00.01.  I've tried it with the 'Force SQL_WCHAR Support' setting on, but it didn't make a difference.  So, I've pretty much exhausted my knowledge now...
    Thanks in advance,  Steve

    Hi
    Steve,
As far as I know the function of MS Query didn’t update anymore after the version of excel 2003. I suppose the issue might be caused by the different rules between Unicode
and ASCII code, so you get different result in excel from Oracle database. I suggest you can try to use PowerQuery and PowerPivot. Their function are stronger than MS Query, and you can get latest function. Probably they can help you to solve your issue.
    Hope it’s helpful.
    Regards,

  • Are the ODT tools really included in ODAC 11.2 Release 3 (11.2.0.2.1)

I have installed ODAC 11.2 Release 3 and Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio (11.2.0.2.1) using the download at http://download.oracle.com/auth/otn/other/ole-oo4o/ODTwithODAC112021.zip onto a PC running VS2010 running Windows XP Professional SP3.
This has successfully installed the Oracle data providers and "ODAC Documentation for Visual Studio 2010" (which I can access and use successfully from within VS2010) but there is no sign of any of the ODT tools !
I have tried digging into the install files and can find no evidence of the ODT install.
Can anyone confirm (or not) that ODT is part of this install please ?

Thanks for the updates - yes, I forgot to say that I am running VS2010 Premium, sorry.
I don't get ODP.NET in Server Explorer, I only get the standard Microsoft providers (including Microsoft's Oracle provider).
    My OUI "installActions" log shows:

Should I see ODT in there as a part of the inventory ?
Could anyone point me at something in the VS configuration files that should reference ODT so that I can definitively say whether the tools have been installed and properly integrated.
    Thanks again.
