Regd: Screen Buffer size increase

Dear Sir/madam,
We check in ST02. the screen Buffer -   SWAPS are More.
we want to increase the "SCREEN"  Buffer size  so the Screen Swaps comes down.
Screen buffer
zcsa/presentation_buffer_area    4400000          Byte   Size of screen buffer
sap/bufdir_entries               2000                    Max. number of buffered screens
Which parameter size i have to Increase here  2 Parameters are available. How much we can increase it.
here RAM size is 4GB. Any Formula is available to Increase the Buffer size of the Screen. or other like Program Buffer etc.
Regards
SNB.

Thanks for your Reply.
Buffer            Hitratio   Allocated         Free space        Dir. size      Free directory         Swaps       Database
[%]       [kB]               [kB]         [%]      Entries         Entries       [%]                      accesses
Screen           96.99        4,297          141     3.44         2,000             1,722       86.10         1,506        4,525
if we want to increase we have to increase for both the parameters.
zcsa/presentation_buffer_area       4400000 + 440000 =          4840000 (10%)
sap/bufdir_entries                          2000 + 200  =                   2200   (10%)
What is the difference between thest 2 parameters.
1)                   zcsa/presentation_buffer_area
2)                   sap/bufdir_entries
Do you have any Formula to Handle ST02 Buffer Size Parameter Maintanence.

SNB.

  • How do you increase the Streaming buffer size in iTunes 10

When I try to listen to the radio in ITunes it plays for 30 seconds then says rebuffering stream.
I just upgraded to an iMac and my old dinasaur G4 does not have this problem.

I don't think that is possible with newer iTunes versions.

    Hi,
You can increase the buffer size by using the property bufferTime of NetStream Object you are using. For eg: if ns is your NetStream Object then it can be done by ns.bufferTime=<desired value>.
Also you can go through this
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/9.0/ActionScriptLangRefV3/flash/net/NetStream.html#bufferT ime.

    Hi all, iTunes streaming victims.
I struggled long with the streaming buffer problem of iTunes and indeed could solve it with increasing the buffer size, which features has been removed in iTunes 10. And this without updating the instructions by Apple!

  • Sampling increase buffer size

hello, I'm trying to sample my scxi module (SCXI-1100 32Ch analog input module) at 10Hz... so I'm taking my samples in a timed while loop... I was wondering if I had this wired correctly... I'm sampling 16 inputs of the scxi-1100... inside my timed while loop I have set up "NChan 1Samp"..... I keep getting the increase buffer size error.... but I'm only taking 1 sample.... I'm not sure where I've gone wrong... I'm including a picture.... much thanks.

    Hi Fibo,
    Thanks for the post!
If you require to do continous aquisation you need to read Nsamples.. i.e. to pull all the samples collected out of the buffer when you loop re-iterates.
I would recommend looking in the example finder (Help>>Find Examples...Hardware Input/Output>>DAQmx>>Analog..
Im pretty sure this would explain the buffer zier error.
** Its fine to have two create channels, if you want to change the settings relating to each channel. You just cant have mutiple Analog Tasks.
Let me know what you think,

Don't know if this is what you're searching for, and I don't know if there is such a function in LV 8.6, but I'm using LV 2010 and under DAQmx Pallete, you go to "Advanced Task Options", there is a function "Configure Output Buffer", in which you can configure the buffer size you want.

  • Will increasing the buffer size make flash streaming video stop stalling?

I have surmised all this on my own so it could be just a fantasy, but:
I am often the victim of slow internet connections. This means that when I try and watch streaming video it constantly pauses. It's my understanding that increasing the buffer size of flash would help prevent this but I can't figure out how to do that.
    Thanks

You can pause the video just long enough for the player to load enough content. Most Flash player show a loading bar if you hover the player. For short pieces you can load the entire content before starting the play.

  • Screen and buffer size

    Hi all,
I'm an arch user for two years now, and I feel more comfortable every day (so much, that I would collaborate a bit here in the forums :$). They say, "an expert is who commited as many errors as possible"; thus, I'm becoming an expert using Arch . Despite that, there are some topics I couldn't solve by myself yet. One of them, is the screen buffer (the virtual terminal of the virtual terminals). I managed to have a multitasking screen(?) but I just can't manage to have (no more of) 300 or 500 buffer lines (honestly I didn't count them). I searched the .screenrc, the /etc/screen, inside the ArchWiki, here in the forums (I must confess that is a little hard to find a solution about a word so generic as "screen" is). I'm an old Gentoo user (in fact, the incredible resemblance to Gentoo that ArchLinux has is what made me to feel so comfortable), and this in Gentoo never happened to me; i always had even waterfalls of compilation outputs inside a screen session; but here in Arch, just a few hundred lines so far.
Is there someone who could point me in the right direction?
    Thanks in advance,
    Paul.
PS: Sorry about my bad english, i'm a bit rusty :$

To change the scrollback buffer size, use the defscrollback setting. In my ~/.screenrc, I have the following:
    # Retain 1000 lines of scrollback history.
    defscrollback 1000

  • How to increase the buffer size for Oracle?

After I installed the patch 9.2.0.4, I kept getting 'ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel' error. According to the metalink, increasing the buffer size may solve this problem. I found when I set the trace on, this problem was gone, and after I set the trace off, it came back again. I am not sure if setting the trace on increases buffer size automatically or not, but I want to start from here.
No matter how easy it is, I really didn't change buffer size before, can anyone show me how to do that?
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi,
I think they asked to increase the db buffer cache size. You may try this
    alter system set db_cache_size=<new size in bytes> scope=both;

  • Increase stream buffer size

    Hello everyone,
my internet radio streams often stop or have to buffer although I have a bandwidth > 14.000 kBit/s. I read on forums that I should increase the stream buffer through the iTunes preferences. But I learned that the newer versions of iTunes don't have these preferences. Is there an alternative way? Maybe via terminal?
Thank you in advance for your help!

  • Max buffer size in sql promt

    hi all
what is the max buffer in sql window..
if it is 1000000 then can we able to increase the size
    thanks

If you are talkin about SQL*Plus editor. you can look for 'Screen Buffer' at the Menubar (Options-> Environment).
    Screen Buffer
This area has two text boxes: Buffer Width and Buffer Length.
         not applicable
    * Use the Buffer Width text box to set the number of characters available to display on one line. The Buffer Width value must be at least as big as the LINESIZE value. Buffer Width has a default value of 100, a minimum value of 80, and a maximum value of 32,767 characters.
In the Buffer Length text box, you set the number of lines that SQL*Plus displays on the screen. The default value of the Buffer Length parameter is 1000 lines. You can specify from 100 to 2000 lines on one screen.
Notes: When you change the Screen Buffer option, SQL*Plus displays a dialog to alert you that if you shorten the size of your screen buffer, some data may not be displayed on your screen Click OK to proceed.
If you use SET MARKUP to send output to an HTML table, the number of lines specified in the Buffer Length variable specifies the number of HTML table rows Each HTML table row may contain more than one text line.

  • Buffer Parameter Increase???

In one of the servers we are facing high number of swaps in the following buffers.
    Program buffer                   (PXA)
    CUA buffer                       (CUA)
    Screen buffer                    (PRES)
    Export/Import buffer             (EIBUF)
To overcome this issue we have to increase the value in corresponding
    Program buffer                   (PXA)
    abap/buffersize
    CUA buffer                       (CUA)
    rsdb/cua/buffersize
    Screen buffer                    (PRES)
    zcsa/presentation_buffer_area
    Export/Import buffer             (EIBUF)
    rsdb/obj/buffersize
My Question is how do I analyze how much Value should I increase for each of the Parameter.
    Useful answers will be rewarded!

    Hello,
In st02, double click on the parameter buffer that faces many swap, for exemple "Screen".
    The following tab show you
    Size              Allocated        KB
                      Available        KB
                      Used             KB
                      Free             KB
    Directory entries Available
                      Used
                      Free
This buffer is setup by 2 parameters (you can display them with 'current parameter button'):
    zcsa/presentation_buffer_area
    sap/bufdir_entries
One parameter is an amount of memory (in Bytes), the other represent a 'maximum number'.
To know if you need more memory place in the buffer or to increase the max number, you need to read the tab on the previous screen.
If the "Size" - "Free" is next to 0, you need to increase zcsa/presentation_buffer_area
If the "Directory entries"-"Free" is next to 0, you need to increase sap/bufdir_entries
There is no absolute rule to know in one row how much you need to increase every parameters for every buffer. It's more a question of 'fellings' and you often need to do many tests (change parameter, stopsap/startsap, re-change parameter, etc.).
    For exemple
    zcsa/presentation_buffer_area = 10000000
    sap/bufdir_entries = 10000
If "Size"-"Free" is to 0 and  "Directory entries"-"Free" is to 9000, this means  you can have 9 times more directory entries but no more memory to hold them.
So, on this system 1000 buffer entries equals to 10Mb of memory.
So if "Objects swapped" is to 2000, just set zcsa/presentation_buffer_area = 10000000 +2*10000000
You don't have to modify sap/bufdir_entries because it can handle 9 more time entries.
If you want to handle in memory as much entries as the maximum directory entries, you could set zcsa/presentation_buffer_area = 10000000 + 9*10000000
Do the same way for every buffer with many swaps.
    Hope this will help you.
    Regards,
