Regd. User language

Hi all,
i am trying to work on internationalization concept.
My requirement is at the time of user creation if no language is set then browser language need to work.
With the help of Iuser i can access user property, but i didn't got any function for language, for Locale is there i.r user.getLocale() may be.
Is this locale will give the Language set at the time of user creation.
How to deal with the Server Locale/Language, User Language and Browser language setting.
In what order in the code level i need to manage these three and how.

For Internationalization of Dynpro Applications, you need to maintain .xlf files as in the [tutorial|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/c6cfad90-0201-0010-a5b8-8f9486346059].
Browser settings needed to display application in particular language.

Query in Portal User-Language-Independent

Hi all
Query and Portal: NW04S
We have some users with different language as Query language.
So the result is, when a query is developed in german and a user has default language english the query components are shown in technical values.
We don't want to translate the query in english
We don't want to change the users language to german
So my idea was to change the query iview with the parameter "sap-language=DE", but this doesn't have an affect either in iview-Properties "Query-String BEx Web Application" nor in "Parameter forwarded to BEx Web Application"
How can I solve this problem, so the bex-query is always shown in german.
Any ideas?

Layout shows different data depending on user-language (German or English)

Hello best of the best,
we are using layouts to enter data into BCS. In one of our layouts different numbers are shown depending on the user-language (German or English).
This is despite the same layout is used.
Have you got any idea what could cause this problem?
Is there a setting somewhere that I didn´t know up to now (to distinguish in different languages)?
Better to ask SAP using an OSS-message?

The numbers are volumes (KWh, to, l).
There are several positions with different "Breatdown Categories". In the english version of the layout only the KWh-volumes are shown. "to" and "l" (Diesel) are missing.
To describe the problem more clearly, in the german version the layout seems to show correct data:
Position                KWh         to         l
Diesel (l)                   -            -       5.000
Coal (to)                    -        3.000      -
Electricity (KWh)   200.000      -         -
The "-" shows fields that are grey --> no data can be inserted
The english version looks like this:
Position                KWh         to         l
Diesel (l)                   -             -          -
Coal (to)                    -            -           -
Electricity (KWh)   200.000 200.000 200.000
Here the white fields at Diesel (l) and coal (t) are empty, but the grey fields in the col´s "to" and "l" show the value of "KWh" in electricity as well.

Mapping User Language vom LDAP to Portal Users

For 2004s SP10,
althought the manual tells you to use the preferredlanguage attribute in the datasource. Use the attribute 'locale' to map to your LDAP specific language attribute.
example <attribute name="locale">
<physicalAttribute name="preferredLanguage"/>
</attribute>
Use the 2-characters ISO language code set. For example en for English, nl for Dutch and de for German.
Works fine for us.

Add to portal favorites works only in User-language english

Hi,
i've got a litte problem with the funktion "add to portal favorites".
We use our portal to publish BW-Reports (BW7.0). Our development-language is english.
Both system (BW and EP) are configured in english.
In the portal (EP 7.0) we have the problem, that the "add to portal favorites" funktion works fine when the user-language is english. When the user-language is german only a few iviews can be added to the favorites....
Does anyone have an idee where my bug is?

Try this.
Change the iView properties, these forces all BI reports to fire in EN,
The setting in the iView of Application Parameters and set this to u201CLanguage=ENu201D.Then this Overrides the local setting of the Portal and forces a BW report to fire in EN.

Content Alignment in webdynpro iView based on user language

Hi,
We have a webdynpro application which has a search screen
(Arabic as well as English), based on the user language setting in Portal UME, the respective language text with options are displayed.
This webdynpro application runs on same WAS where Portal is running.
When we test this application standalone like typing the URL of the webdynpro application, it shows english text with Left to right aligned content in browser for user X with Language as EN.
When we test this application standalone like typing the URL of the webdynpro application, it shows arabic text with Right to Left aligned content in browser for user Y with Language as Arabic.It works fine when it is stand alone (when we directly run the webdynpro).
We created a WebDynpro iView in Portal, and we tested with user Y (whose language is set to Arabic), issue is text is properly displayed in Arabic, but the content alignment is left to right, which should be Right to Left.
Please let me know your solution/thought to the above mentioned issue/problem.

Hi,
The webdynpro application works fine (alignment and content is fine)when i access it directly.
When i create a webdynpro iView and run it inside portal it is not working fine (alignment is LTR instead of RTL)
I went through the SAP help <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/6e/8aae409567942ae10000000a155106/frameset.htm">RTL Alignment</a>and tried creating new themes and created a new desktop and assigned it to the user. It is still the same with LTR alignment.
The issue is, why it is not working inside PRT, when it works fine inside WebDynpro Runtime.

ESS: InvalidUrlRuntimeException depend on the user language !?!

Hi,
I've a strange behaviour apparently related to the user language:
- all the ESS JCO connection are set-up with SSO;
- with an EN user everithing is OK;
- with an EN IT language I get an InvalidUrlRuntimeException when I use
"My Trips and Expenses" link.
This link point to an EP ROLE://.... an it seems correct.
If I take the complete URL reported in the error I can show the correct WebDynpro without any errors.
Another strange think is that some services in the sub-area are not dispalied, only with a differen language than EN.

Render page as per User language after login

Hello,
I am using Jdev 11.1.1.6 with ADFBC and Faces.
In our application, user can set default language. It is expected that after login, all contents should be displayed as per user language locale (assuming locale is supported and locale specific resource bundle exists).
So there is SignInPage and HomePage. I need to access the DB (using methodAction binding for a AM method, that reads the user preference and returns the language) before forwarding to HomePage.
Code to forward to HomePage is something like this:
FacesContext ctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
RequestDispatcher dispatcher =
request.getRequestDispatcher(forwardUrl);
dispatcher.forward(request, response);
ctx.responseComplete();
End User locale handling is done by defining ViewHandler class in faces-config file. Implementation is explained here
Problems faced:
1) I tried to execute the operation binding but got null pointer...in FacesCtrlActionBinding._execute(FacesCtrlActionBinding.java:252)
2) I tried to redirect using external.encodeActionURL(actionURL) but got illegalStateException...Response is already committed
It works fine if user after login either just press F5 to refresh the page OR reset the language again using the preference screen.
How do I get it to work at login? Where can I tap-in the methodAction call between SignInPage and HomePage, so that HomePage is rendered according to language?
Any help/pointer is highly appreciated.

If you mean ADF operation binding then this only is available if a request is routed through the binding filter. Note that the PageDef file for a page needs to be parsed before the content becomes available as an object at runtime.

Why don't you use facesContext --> externalContext --> redirect(...) to perform the redirect, The dispatcher.forward() surely doesn't do this

Programmatic authentication as explained in the Fusion Developer Guide (chapter 30 if I recall correctly) would give you a chance to set the language. However, the language is not set on the ViewObject but should be set on JSF by changing the default language, e.g.
FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getViewRoot().setLocale(Locale.ENGLISH);

AE Crash trying to get the user 'language' registry key

This is a strange crash I get just opening all sorts of different AE projects.
<140735243008352> <ASL.ResourceUtils.GetLanguageIDFromRegistry> <0> Unable to obtain the User 'Language' registry key at: Software\Adobe\After Effects\10.5.1\ Defaulting to 'en_US'.
It happens on a wide variety of projects just on opening them. Almost all are 720p. but some have footage, others are just PSD or other image files (PNG, JPG). Many of them have trapcode particular 2.1/form 2, but some don't.
I have to find another project, open it, and then hope it doesn't cause a crash. If not, then I can go back and open the project that crashed upon opening and it works fine. It may open a few times without problems, and then upon opening it another time, it will crash with the same warning.
I have a MacPro 2.66 GHz quad-core with 16GB RAM running 10.7.1 with an ATI Radeon HD 4870 card with 512MB of memory.
Seems rather bizarre to crash on trying to get a language registry setting, so any ideas for correcting this would be most helpful. Thanks.

I'm having a similar issue with After Effects. I have Adobe After Effects CS5.5 (v.10.5.1) and it keeps crashing when switching between AE and other programs. Here's a video of what's happening with mine.
I don't have any special plug-ins loaded except for what came with the program. OpenGL rendering is turned on and have tried turning it off to see if it make the problem go away and it doesn't make a difference.
Greatly appreciate any assistance I can get on this.

Overwrite user language

Hi all,
we are looking for a way to overwrite the user language which is delivered either by LDAP (used for authentication) or by the users' browser settings. We would like to allow login in German/English, other languages should be mapped to English.
Has anyone an idea?

I'm wondering if there is a place where the session/user language is stored..my need is to check the language and display APEX built applications (embedded content) in this lanugage.
EDIT: I'd like to know also how to retrieve this parameter :)

Hehe, I've been looking this page earlier..but I have a different goal I don' want to translate the OBI EE objects...in simple words I'd like know how to retrieve the users selected language by SQL query and do sthg about it :)
Edit: select 'VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.WEBLANGUAGE)' from DUAL is doing the trick but only ofc with the direct request from answers. Does anyboy know how to get ti outside OBI ? I dont know pass through URL, have it in DB or sthg?

Fixing user language

Dear All ...
Can I fix the user language, meaning very time user1 one is logged on Portal he get all the pages in arabic, while user2 when logged in see all the pages in english. I have tried this by making user1 logg in and use the Set Language Portlet to set the language to arabic, then log in with user user2 expecting english, but unfortunately all the pages are also displayed for him in arabic.
I this possible ? How ?

in our system nobody has field logon language filled.
I need to send a message every week to all the user using the language of the user to choose the right language for the message.
I need to know the tables where I can find the reference to the language of the user or the country of the user.

Hi,
The user language as set in txn SU01 is in field LANGU of table USR01. However, in many cases the language in the user's master record will be blank. In that case try table USR41, field SPRACHE, which gives you the language the user logged on with the last time s/he worked in the system.
