REGEXP_REPLACE issue/bug - replaces only every second occurence
Hi All
I am using
Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Product
PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
CORE 10.2.0.1.0 Production
TNS for 32-bit Windows: Version 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
I need a regular expression to rename a variable in a mathematical formula, when testing my code I discovered that if the variable was repeated right after itself only one occurence was replaced. I need to only replace whole words as some variables can be a subset of a longer variable name, and variable names can have underscores in them.
Below is an example of what happens.
Can someone please tell me why this happens? Example code is:
SELECT REGEXP_REPLACE('ab+ab+ab+ab+ab+ab+ab+abc+abc+ab', '(\W|^)ab(\W|$)' , '\1xy\2',1,0,'i') from DUAL;
The regular expression matches all 'ab' with a non alpha character or beginning line before and a non alpha or end of line at the end.
I then replace the 'ab' with 'xy' and keep the original non alpha on either side. What happens is that only every second occurence is replaced.
If I place a space after every '+' then it replaces all occurences. (Obviously this is a user field in a table of mathematical formulas so I cannot expect the user to worry about this problem.)
I believe it may be due to the fact the pointer in finding all occurence is moved incorrectly and it does not find the match immediately after.
Can someone please explain this? Or am I missing something in my example.
Thanks
Dudley
Is this what you require? I changed your query a bit.

Suspends only every second time when lid closed
Hello everybody, my problem is as the subject: to suspend I have to close usually the laptop lid twice.
I'm using kde, but I have also used years ago fluxbox, tweaking scripts and using laptop-mode (which is not running now). Thanks in advance for every idea where to look.

What's best for the battery: recharge each day or only every second day
Hi.
I can go two days on the battery of the Xperia Z1 Compact. How do I make sure the battery lasts the longest: By charging every day at about 50 percent battery, or by charging every second day at less than 10 percent battery, thus reducing the number of charge cycles the battery gets?

Rules file lodas only every 2nd row from .txt source
I have prepared a nice rules file, now deployed on the live
server. when I copy it over to my dev it stops working because
it loads only every SECOND row from my .txt source.
Any ideas why that might happen? (I have no rejects specified)I wonder, are the live server and the dev server the same operating system? My first thought (and I have not tested) is that perhaps the line terminator in the data file is causing the every other line load?

a statement SELECT Column FROM Table returns all elements of Column ...
is there any way to return only every second or every third or every ...-th element?I don't know about other databases, but in Oracle every row has a pseudo-column ROWNUM that you can use to do this easily. For example, every other row ought to be:
SELECT Column FROM
(SELECT Column, rownum i FROM Table ORDER BY somethinguseful)
WHERE mod(i, 2) = 0 -
Continue execute program while a specific sequence only should be executed every second
Hi everyone
How can I make a sequence executing every 1s while continue executing other code in the meanwhile.
e.g.: A ligth should blink with a frequency of 1s. This should be done independently from other code running the same time.
I really was trying it out a plenty of time unsuccessfully. "wait" does not work, "wait until" not either nor does event struct or anything else work out for that... well I thought "simple" issue.
Could anyone give me a hint or even a example code? Please note that in my issue I don't only want to execute only a blinking LED. Lets say I want to receive updates from a board via rs232, but only every 10 seconds. Meanwhile I want to execute other code.
Thanks for help!!
Background inforamtion:
Since 2 month I am programming a GUI with LabView that gives me the ability to control instruments via the rs232 interface. Until now I figured out a lot of LabView by my self but here I got stuck :-/

"wait(ms)" or "wait until..." should never be used for application timing, they are used for loop iteration and synchronize loop processes. Use the other timing functions like elapsed timer or tick count....
CLD....
b. Timing functions
1. Use the Wait function to control the loop execution rate and allow the processor to respond to external events and system tasks
2. Use the Wait Until Next ms Multiple function to control the loop execution rate and to synchronize multiple loops
3. Avoid using any of the Wait functions to time a software operation
Well, I was just focusing on the blinky, and didn't figure it to be a time-critical operation (I figured the same thing for the data acq every 10 sec, but this may not fit his requirements). What I do when I just want to make a blinky is to set up a loop which switches the LED between off and on. That way I can change the period, otherwise, I would just use the "blink" property node (1 sec period, IIRC).
But, as you say, in time-critical operations, you do want to use the time functions which do depend on the absolute value of the system clock. In a parallel loop.

Dequeing happens only every 5 Seconds
I'm trying to use Oracle Advanced Queuing on Oracle 9.2.0.6.0 for doing some real time publication. Unfortunately my testing has proved that the automatic Dequeuing of the Enqueued mesages happens only every 5 seconds. I'm guessing this is dependent on the Oracle's internal parameter jobqueue_interval (Similar to DBMS_JOB). Am I right? Oracle recommends not to change this parameter value. What other ways do we have to do some real time stuff. Are there anyother parameter value that can be set so that the Dequeuing happens immediately. Thanks in advance.
Find below my Dequeue proceudure.
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE p_dequeue ( context RAW,
reginfo SYS.AQ$_REG_INFO,
descr SYS.AQ$_DESCRIPTOR,
payload RAW,
payloadl NUMBER)
AS
dequeue_options dbms_aq.dequeue_options_t;
message_properties dbms_aq.message_properties_t;
message_handle RAW(16);
message message_type;
BEGIN
dequeue_options.msgid := descr.msg_id;
dequeue_options.consumer_name := descr.consumer_name;
dbms_aq.dequeue(queue_name => descr.queue_name,
dequeue_options => dequeue_options,
message_properties => message_properties,
payload => message,
msgid => message_handle);
INSERT INTO KTEST VALUES(message.message_body||to_char(sysdate, 'dd/mm/yyyy hh24:mi:ss'));
COMMIT;
END;
/I had a similiar problem. You need to take a look at your mgw.ora file. The default for dequeueing is 5 seconds. You can override the default by coding the following in mgw.ora:
setJavaProp oracle.mgw.polling_interval=xxx
Where xxx is the time you want in milliseconds (I have mine set to 500).
You can see what the polling interval is currently set to by viewing you mgw startup log. My log is under path /opt/app/oracle/product/9.2.0/mgw/log. Since I have put in the override, it says in my log:
The default polling interval is set to 500ms.
I hope this solves your problem. -
Every second: md5 BUG in libdispatch: 12E55 - 1879 - 0x1b
Hi guys.
My Macbook Air acts a bit slow recently, and I checked the log files.
This is what I am seeing: EVERY SECOND an entry "BUG in libdispatch: 12E55 - 1879 - 0x1b".
Does anyone know how to fix this, or where to look for the cause?
- Max OSX Mountain Lion, latest version OS X 10.8.4 (12E55)
- Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
I did not do anything "special" with it.
Thanks!

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2. -
Refresh only a region in a Page automatically every second
Dear All
I have a page in my application which would display the remaining seconds like 20,19 etc and when it reaches 0 the webpage should redirect to the calling page. I have set a counter for the same and is calling meta refresh tag in the page header every second for resetting the counter. Everything works fine.
My question is whether there is any other way instead of using the meta tag as this will refresh the full screen. I just need the region containing the counter only to be refreshed and displayed on the screen.
ThanksHi,
HTML regions do not support native region refresh like e.g. classic reports.
You need write own JavaScript to fetch data using AJAX.

ToolBoxTools.addEventListener only works every second time
Hi!
Our layouts pretty often click on the "page tool" by mistake and it happened a few times, that they changes the size of the page without even noticing. Because there is no way to remove the tool from the toolbar (I guess?), I wanted to write a script, that at least shows a message, that the page tool ("Seitenwerkzeug" in german) was selected. Unfortunately the event listener only works every second time:
1. indesign starts > selection tool is active
2. click on page tool > message appears > page tool is active
3. click on "another tool1" > "another tool1" is active
4. click on "another tool2" > "another tool1" is active
5. click on page tool > nothing happens, the icon of the page tool is active, but the icon of the "another tool2" is still active, too, and "another tool2" is still activated
6. click on "another tool3" > "another tool3" is active
7. click on page tool > message appears > page tool is active
8. ......
Any idea why that is?
My script:
#targetengine myToolListener
app.toolBoxTools.addEventListener ("afterAttributeChanged", changeToolAlert);
function changeToolAlert() {
if(app.toolBoxTools.currentToolName == "Seitenwerkzeug") {
alert ("Message", "Title");
exit(); //i tried with and without this!
At the beginning I tried to use an confirm message instead of an alert, which had the same problem and I thought it might be because the changing doesn't work... but it seems I can't even work with the information without something "crashing" in the background?
My previous confirm Function:
function changeToolConfirm() {
if(app.toolBoxTools.currentToolName == "Seitenwerkzeug") {
var confirmDialog = confirm("Do you really want to activate the page tool?", true);
if(!confirmDialog) {
app.toolBoxTools.currentTool = UITools.SELECTION_TOOL;
I really hope someone has an idea
Best,
AnkeHi Anke,
The problem, I think, comes from the fact that the Page Tool selection event (which you listen to via afterAttributeChanged) needs some time to complete. Since the alert() or confirm() instruction gives the focus to a new modal window before the event life-cycle is finished, the GUI becomes instable, the PageTool icon state is not properly restored, and your event management goes wrong.
A way to solve this might be to queue a temporary IdleEvent listener once the Page Tool selection event is caught. That is, we do not initiate any modal dialog as long as the GUI is refreshing.
Something like this:
//====================================================
// PageToolDisclaimer.jsx
//====================================================
// Should be useable as a startup script, no #targetengine required
// NB - MutationEvent is known to create a global 'evt' variable
// so we don't seem to need a persistent session engine here :-)
// That's why the active script File is used as the event handler
(function(/*File*/EVENT_HANDLER, /*str*/TASK_NAME, /*uint*/TASK_TIME, /*str*/PAGE_TOOL_NAME)
var t;
// Installer
if( !(t=app.toolBoxTools.eventListeners).length )
t.add(MutationEvent.AFTER_ATTRIBUTE_CHANGED, EVENT_HANDLER);
return;
// IdleEvent handler (--> confirm)
if( (t=app.idleTasks.itemByName(TASK_NAME)).isValid )
t.eventListeners.everyItem().remove();
t.remove();
if( !confirm("***WARNING***\rDo you really want to activate the page tool?", true) )
app.toolBoxTools.currentTool = UITools.SELECTION_TOOL;
return;
// PageTool event handler
if( ('evt' in $.global) && 'currentToolName'==evt.attributeName && PAGE_TOOL_NAME==evt.attributeValue )
evt.stopPropagation();
app.idleTasks.add({name:TASK_NAME, sleep:TASK_TIME})
.addEventListener(IdleEvent.ON_IDLE, EVENT_HANDLER);
})(app.activeScript, 'WaitPageTool', 400, app.translateKeyString('$ID/Page Tool'));
Hope that helps.

Cursor only updates every second row
Hello Helpful Peoples
I have a table with a set of delivery dates, and am wanting to add a date on which a reminder flag should be raised by the system. The delivery dates are already populated and I'm wanting to add functionality where the end user can set how many days prior they are reminded.
I've opened a cursor to retrieve all the current due dates from my source table. When I loop through this cursor and update the reminder date and reminder text, my code is only updating every second row.
I can't work out why this code seems to skip a row every time it updates a record. Is anyone able to assist?
declare
v_date rep_delivery.reminderdate%type;
v_rownum number;
CURSOR reminder_cur
IS
SELECT DEL.DUEDATE
FROM REP_DELIVERY DEL
WHERE DEL.REP_ID = :P212_REP_ID:
FOR UPDATE OF DEL.REMINDERDATE;
begin
FOR x IN reminder_cur LOOP
FETCH reminder_cur INTO v_date;
EXIT WHEN reminder_cur%NOTFOUND;
v_date := v_date - to_number(:P212_REMDAYS);
UPDATE REP_DELIVERY DEL2
SET DEL2.REMINDERDATE = v_date
WHERE CURRENT OF reminder_cur;
UPDATE REP_DELIVERY DEL3
SET DEL3.REMINDERTEXT = :P212_DESCRIPTION
WHERE CURRENT OF reminder_cur;
END LOOP;
commit;
end;Oolite,
Use this code:
DECLARE
v_date rep_delivery.reminderdate%TYPE;
CURSOR reminder_cur
IS
SELECT ROWID, duedate
FROM rep_delivery
WHERE rep_id = :p212_rep_id
FOR UPDATE OF reminderdate;
BEGIN
FOR x IN reminder_cur
LOOP
v_date := x.duedate;
v_date := v_date - TO_NUMBER (:p212_remdays);
UPDATE rep_delivery del2
SET del2.reminderdate = v_date,
del2.remindertext = :p212_description
WHERE ROWID = x.ROWID;
END LOOP;
COMMIT;
END;and it will work for you.

Paid £120 for a replacement iPhone 3GS 16GB White around 6 months ago, ONLY TWO MONTHS afterwards it seemed to think it was stuck on a docking station, so I got another replacement as it was virtually unusable! Of course I got scammed, and was given a refurbished unit, instead of another new one, after paying £120 as a student for a new one to avoid any further issues! I CANNOT afford a new phone and I am FURIOUS that I may not have the years warranty I practically paid for by buying a new unit that only worked to its full functionality for 2 MONTHS, to get a replacement with only 90 days warranty, how is that right? NOT ONLY SHOULD I GET A BRAND NEW REPLACEMENT AGAIN BUT I SHOULD ALSO HAVE MY YEARS WARRANTY I AM MOST CERTAINLY ENTITLED TO!
Personally I think this is an outrage, and I believe I am entitled to the years warranty I paid for, and a replacement now as my 5-6 month iPhone's LCD has decided to completely pack in possibly costing me £30 for a new, none-genuine LCD that I would have to trust myself to replace.
I deserve my full warranty, I feel like I have been scammed by a huge company that couldn't care less whether their products reach the customer with the sales of goods act i'm mind at all.
I think this is an outrage, and hope to be reassured by somebody on here.
thank you for taking the time to read my post,
yours sincerely, Olly.thank you for your reply! I hope you are accurate in what you are saying, I have not voided my warranty in any way, the iPhone I paid for had a fault that meant, for some reason not only did it think it was constantly on a docking station, meaning the speakers nor the volume would work, but it would overheat when charging, this was nothing that I did to the iPhone.
so in that case I am still covered by the years warranty?
this is great if I am, although I thought all refurbished replacements only had a 90 day warranty. so if you need a replacement, you've only got 90 days for a component to break in order to get a replacement, which I think is unfair in every way as a refurbished replacement is even more likely to go wrong, not only that but it is more likely to go wrong in a smaller amount of time too! -
IPod needs to be reformated every "second use"
Hey
I am German so pleas excuse my spelling and gramma ;-(
I just reinstaled my Computer a cupple of days ago, so it´s clean, before i reinstaled it everything was working just fine.
So here is what happens, i plug in my USB conection in iPod and USB slot, it takes some time untill i get toled that my iPod needs to get reformated for use with this computer, i do reformate it, it works, i put the ~1600 i have on it, disconect it properly - and the next time i conect it we are back to waiting a while and having to reformate it...
I can´t imagin that is is healthy for the iPod to hammer it with 1600 songs every second day wen i want to put a cupple of songs or a playlist on it (aside from it being anyoing no matter how bad it is for the hardware...)
It would be great if someone could help me fix this.
I am not a profesional so it might be issues with wrong instalation of the USB ports (software wise, i did not change any hardware) but i think i got al the drivers on the computer properly.It is telling me that i need to reformate it for use on this computer so i am pritty darn shure i can´t just put the files on it like i would wen it would work like it suposed to work (and did work sinc i bought it in september)
Again. brok down so everyone hopfully gets what i am fighting with
1. I conect the iPod
2. the i pod tells me it needs to be reformated for use on this computer.
3. i reformate it.
4. it works just fine, i can put all the songs on it like i should be able to.
5. the next time i conect my iPod to the VERY SAME computer there is minutes of it only being the USB harddrive, than i get a mesage that i need to reformate it for use on this computer (wich, yes, like formating usualy dos, deletes all files)
help would be awsome becaus after 3 days of this i feel like having a creative jukebox would be better, and that should be telling you something sigh -
HT1768 Song Preview in iTunes Store plays only 9 seconds
I run vista 64 bit. Lately when I preview a song in the itunes store only 9 seconds (exactly) of the preview will play. Also, when I purchase music, I am getting download errors. This has only been an issue for a few weeks. I am hoping to fix the without the hassle of completely uninstalling & reinstalling iTunes and risk loosing my iPhone data, song data etc.
My Itunes previews have been playing fully now for the past few days. After trying every suggestion possible to fix the problem of 5-10 second previews, I took the advice on one feed to use OpenDNS for your network internet connection. There are internet sites that will instruct you how to do it. Just Google "opendns for (your operating system)". I have Windows XP and followed a video instruction at www.top-windows-tutorals.com/using-opendns.html. Afterward, close your browser and then flush the DNS Resolver cache; Start/Run, type CMD in the open field, click OK, in resulting window type ipconfig/flushdns, press return on keyboard. No guarantees, but my browser is faster and my Itunes previews are playing fully so far. But I still shudder every time I hit the preview button.
