Region 0 NTSC...

Does anybody know how to select and burn a Region 0 NTSC DVD for playback? WIth the settings in DVD Studio right now I have Regions 1 through 6, and 8.
There is a film festival in Europe that wants a Region 0 NTSC copy for viewing that I want to send. I thought Region 2 is acceptable because it is for Europe playback??
Any ideas or ways of getting a Region 0 NTSC copy from DVD Studio Pro?
Thanks.

there is no such thing as region 0
what you are refering to is an 'all region' disc where all regions are selected 1 through 8 including 7
recordable discs are created as all region discs by default whether the settings in DVDSP are changed or not.
only replicated discs can be regionalised by selecting specific regions.

  • Region free NTSC and PAL

    Hi all.
I'm hoping someone can answer this question for me.....
I wish to create a DVD to be played in various regions (PAL & NTSC). I know that in Encore CS5 I can create a Region free (0) DVD but do I need to create a PAL and an NTSC version (Im currently working in PAL)?
OR can I just use 1 version to be played worldwide?
    Thanks

    AhSo...!
I have never checked CUSTOM so have never seen those options
But, as Jim said, those options are only active if you are going to send a file off to a replication house to have a "glass master" made, and the replication house then does the coding for copy protection and/or regions
For an actual burned disk that YOU make, the options (and copy protection) do nothing at all

  • Region 1 (NTSC) and Region 2 (PAL)

Is it possible to watch both Region 1 and Region 2 DVDs on my iMac? I currently live in the UK and have many region 2 (PAL) DVDs, I am about to move back to the US and would like to continue playing my Region 2 )PAL) DVDs but would also like to play my Region 1(NTSC) DVDs I have back in the states. Is there any way I can continue to watch my UK DVDs?
Currently I can only 'switch' between regions 5 times, then I am done, I've already switched once due to my move to the UK.
    Cheers,
    Justin

MacTheRipper will save the DVD to your hard disk and delete all region codes at the same time, so that you can view them from your hard disk. As the process is pretty fast (a few minutes, depending on the DVD) it can be used to bypass the region coding. It will create a VIDEO_TS folder that you can open with DVD Player (the app that came with your Mac and is part of OS X). It will take a LOT of HD space (up to 8 GB) so you may have to erase them after viewing.
VLC, on the other hand, will replace DVD Player and decode DVDs from both regions through a software process. DVD Player will still pop-up and ask you to change your drive's region coding, unless you change your Systems Preferences (Hardware > CDs and DVDs > When I insert a video DVD : set to ignore or to open VLC, instead of DVD Player which opens by default). VLC will not save anything to disc.

  • DVD playing region 2 NTSC Help!!?

Does anyone know if the DVD drive (super-combo) and software can play a DVD from Region 2, but it is in NTSC format?
Will it be able to read the audio and sub-titles? I want to be able to read the DVD ( region 2, NTSC format) without changing the region settings on my computer (since I can only do it 4 times).
Or can my DVD play other region DVDs? Has anyone ever come across this? Is there a software I can download to convert it? I called Apple, but they really didn't know....please someone help!?!

Let's put it like this, You are allowed 5 changes. (PERIOD)
If you live in the US you are in Region#1 so if you play a DVD from Region#2 thats your 2nd change and if you change back to Region#1 again thats 3. You have 2 changes left.
There is firmware available for some burners that will make your burner Region Free. This firmware is not available for all burners or drives. It depends on what drive Apple used in your machine, they use burners and drives from several different sources. The best way to find out is go to your apple and click on about this Mac, and then more info and then ATA, there you will discover the burner make and model used in your computer. I would then do a search of the manufactures web site and a Google search and see if there is a firmware update that will make your drive Region Free. Remember they are not available for all brands and models.
    Cheers Don

  • I have a mid 2010 macbook pro laptop can i play a region 2 NTSC format dvd on it without problems?

as said in the titel any help would be very helpful thanks

It would have been useful to know what region you are in!
    DVD Player: About DVD-Video Regions
Region encoding is the mechanism that enables motion picture studios to control the worldwide release of their movies. It is required by the DVD Forum (http://www.dvdforum.org/forum.shtml) in all commercial hardware DVD players. Every DVD-Video disc contains one byte of data representing a region code, which limits where the disc can be played.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2397
Once you have set he region in DVD Player five times it cannot be changed.
Instead, use VLC to view videos from different regions:

  • NTSC playback better than PAL?

Hi, this is a question about DVD Player (4.6.5) rather than iDVD but I hope you can help.
I've got a 20" Intel iMac and I often use it to watch commercial DVDs as I don't currently have a TV (poor me) it seems that if I watch an NTSC DVD the picture quality is usually acceptable, but sometimes (often?) with PAL discs the image is blockier. I don't think its the display as I've watch the HD downloads on Quicktime and have been impressed, so it must be something to do with the discs. The Pal discs all look great on a regular DVD/TV set up back in the UK.
Has anyone else noticed this? are there other DVD player applications that prvide a better image for PAL discs?

I own one Region 1 NTSC commercial DVD that plays poorly on my Aluminum 1.5GHz PowerBook. I think it's the LCD that can't refresh quickly enough. It's this one:

  • New to Premiere Pro- Errors rendering, exporting, viewing video

I'm very new to Premiere Pro (and my macbook) but have recently got into video editing for my work and am having some issues on my second project. The first project (just a 1 minute video for YouTube) worked fine with no issues. After searching the forumns I have not seen anyone with the same set of issues I am having and I'm hoping someone can point me to what the issue is. I will start with the basic information.
    Premiere Pro CS6.0.2
    OS X 10.7.4
    2.3 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 512 MB
Video taken from GoPro- MPEG-4 movie H.264, AAC
Photos taken from Canon Rebel XSI- JPEG
Audio taken from Zoom H1- MP3
No 3rd party effects or programs in use
    Sequence "created from clip"
    Files stored locally on machine
Tried exporting using many different codecs including, H.264 HD 1080p 29.97 fps, Quicktime, etc
    The issues I am having:
PP will not "render entire work area" for projects. It has worked occasionally if I start a brand new project, but never for projects I have been working on. Error shown below.
    Video Preview Error
    Error compiling movie.
    Unknown error.
Program monitor will not show video. Upon first opening the project, the preview video will play. If I make any edits, try to render, add/delete clips, the preview just shows black- audio still plays.
Will not export any project consistently
Have only been able to get a project to export when first starting up the computer (not recently though)
Even new projects with only one video file have not been able to export (error below)
Encoding a sequence in media encoder also times out and stops half way through encoding.
When encoding I get this error message sometimes right away and sometimes after encoding for a few minutes.
    Adobe Media Encoder
    Error compiling movie.
    Unknown error.
"Adobe has encountered an error and needs to close." This happens sometimes when first opening a project, and sometimes after a project has been worked on for awhile, and sometimes after a failed export.
I've got to assume this is some user issue I am having from being new to the software and trying to learn by doing. That being said, I appreciate any advice or solutions. I have tried to delete render files. I have tried to eliminate all of the photos, all of the video, and all of the audio files (thinking perhaps one of them was corrupt or were not compatible with the sequence settings I have). This is just a simple 1 minute video, and I have spent far to long on it trying to find a solution on my own- THANK YOU for helping me find a solution!

  • Is it Possible to Transfer Movies from VHS and HI8 to DvD via Encore?

I have been trying to figure out a way to transfer my inlaws' home videos from VHS tapes and HI8 8mm tapes to my computer to burn them to DVD. I have been unsuccessful so far. I thought about just taking them to a transfer place, but there are roughly 30 tapes and I need 6 copies of each one. Any thoughts, recommendations, or links to helpful threads would be appreciated.
I don't know what format/resolution to transfer from into the computer or what will work best to burn out to DvD.
I have been told that I can't transfer directly into FCE without a firewire port (which this computer does not have) so I have been using a MyGica iGrabber to transfer files in.

Encore does not do video capture, that would be Premiere Pro via Firewire
A model 55 at http://www.grassvalley.com/products/converters is one way from external to computer, and creates the DV AVI files you need for PPro editing
If you don't need to edit the files at all, those DV AVI files may be used by Encore for DVD authoring
I know nothing about the device you mention... what kind of files does it create?

  • Corrupt safari and non playing dvd

    hey!!
    if someone could please help....
the first issue: my safari application is somehow corrupt. certain texts are reading as jumbled words. when i copy paste to ask others if they can read what i see, they read it just fine. other internet applications read same jumbled emails fine. is there a preff file i can trash that will ree-build itself? but i dont want to trash my bookmarks.
2nd issue: for some odd reason, my dvd player does not recognize dvd movies. i inserted a few titles and the screen said "dvd file not supported". the dvd player in my g4 powerbook laptop worked before. now it's not.
    any suggestions?
    thank!!

    Hi Kidane,
Any luck on your second issue yet, of the non-playing DVDs? I recently noticed the same problem with my PowerBook not recognizing two brand new region 1 ntsc dvds (which play just fine on an older G4 desktop with an older version of DVD Player). They both have the same unrecognized search cycle that repeats three times, then spits out the DVD. One regularly begins to spin as if to play, but quits after two seconds. I'd love a clue to the fix for this. I don't think the DVDs are faulty, but my superdrive must be. I hope we get an answer!
Edit: I should add, that both non-playable DVDs actually did play just once, after alot of persuasion. But apparently after one play, they won't play again. Neither one played on first insertion either.

  • Convert swf to mov or avi etc

    Hi
I've designed a vector animation in flash 8 using a 16:9 ratio to be projected on a video screen. What is the best way to convert this swf to a format that can be played on a normal dvd player so it can be projected on a screen and maintain the vector graphics and continuously loop without pauses? any help would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Stefan

I am having he same problem with Flash CS4 and can't figure it out.  I keep getting ghosted images when exporting to Quicktime via Animation or DV/DVCPRO codecs.  The only thing that seemed to work was exporting via PAL.  Why that worked I have no idea since I'm using region 1 NTSC displays and equipment, but it did.
One other thing you might want to try is exporting it as a PNG sequence and then reassembling it in After Effects.  Then you can just instruct the dvd file to loop the single clip.  Completely tedious, yes, and problematic if you have a different framerate than 29.97, but might be a workable last resort if no one else out there has any answers.

  • Premiere Pro CS5.x  - major lack of tutorials/documentation

Seriously...the Adobe Classroom in Book of CS5 is the only book available? It's a bad book too, since it just wants you to follow all kind of 1,2,3 steps without explaining anything, not to mention that I can't stand doing those kind of spoon-fed lessons. I looked at the video courses of VTC, Lynda, Totaltraining...shockingly bad. They're so basic that I can only assume that I would fall asleep, plus they seldom talk about issues that I want to know. I can't for example discover in their course outlines where something substantial as masking is explained.
    Why all this rubbish?
