LE v 7.2.3
Project: convert old LP to album length .aiff file
use LE to cut it up into song files (ie, manually select regions)
create regions in Audio Window
Audio window shows master song file plus 12 other songs (as regions)
Audio File menu: (with region selected) Convert to .mp3
"No Audio File Selected !"
dumb, very dumb computer. You have the info needed and can see what Im doing. The region isnt draggable into the Arrange window either.
Cycle thru screensets 1, 2, 3 etc and randomly come across and arrange window with all the previously dragged regions. How in the heck ?

No, this has never been possible unless you enabled the iPod for disk use and you added the song to the iPod on the desktop, not thru iTunes.

I'm trying to perform a simple MP3 export of my own music from my iPod to disk and/or iTunes. Searching help, I find several incorrect articles about how to go about doing this. With the song selected in my iPod (via iTunes) I follow the instructions on converting or exporting to an MP3 file.

I have tried direct connecting the iphone 4, via wifi, everything. I hate itunes with a passion, but it seems to be a necessary evil. I dont know why I would have no trouble with my iphone 3. I am using the same technique for both phones. Find the music I want in the library and drag it to the iphone. Works on IOS 6, not IOS 7.
WHat else should I try?

I think I know what's happening as I'm having the same problem.
Under previous iPhotos you could look at the main viewer and drag a photo or multiple photos from there to an already created album.
Now, it only appears that you can drag an entire event from the events window to an album, even when you click on an event to open it, you can't drag individual photos from an event to an album.
So how do we add individual photos to an album??

Use the File -> Export command.

Since i have my ipod i have always dragged and dropped music from my itunes library onto my ipod but now every time i open itunes it tries to sync my whole library onto my ipod which i dont want, but now i cant drag nd drop onto it anymore , and there is a "lock" symbol beside the space that shows how much space is available on my ipod (such as the one that appears when on hold).

You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7 installed hold down the Control and Alt keys (or Shift + Ctrl keys in older versions). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to automatically update. If you want to access your iPod directly, drag songs to it, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and videos" in the iPod Summary tab and click Apply. If the format is NTFS, which it likely is, then follow Ralph's advice, but youmay also want to partition it with GUID partition table.
In Disk Utility, select the drive, then Partiiton tab.
Choose 1-partition from the popup menu.
Click the Options button (it is only enabled if you change the partition layout, above).
Select GUID partition table.
Then, give the drive a Name and format of Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
If you wish to use the drive with Windows, use MSDOS or exFAT. MSDOS will limit files sizes to 2GB. Some think exFAT is flakey.

Cant drag and drop from file-roller to nautilus when using List View

Hi, im using file-roller and i can only use drag and drop feature from file-roller when i use Icon View. If i select List View i cant drag and drop.
Is that an expected behavior or its a bug? Is there a patch or work around? (File Roller 2.20.1 and Gnome 2.20.2)
I think its a problem with file-roller cause in my other box, running ubuntu 7.10 i have the same problem, but i can drag and drop from ark even when using List View.

Well, sorry for the double post, but after a little research i found this is a bug, actually a not yet implemented feature. There is a patch and probably its going to be merged in next version.
Ill try to apply the patch myself, if it works could the maintainer Jan de Groot put it on the repository?

Cant Drag and Drop Video to 60 gig

Hi everyone. I finally decided to try and put some video on my ipod video. For some reason though i cant drag and drop video onto the ipod. The files are all proper format so that is not the problem.
If i add the videos to my library and then have it auto-update the videos it will add them to the ipod. I cannot simply create a playlist of them though and drag it on, or drag a single video onto the ipod.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Try restarting or logging out and back in, or both. If that doesn't fix it, create a new admin user in Sys Prefs>Accounts and test for this behavior there.

Hey.. is there something i dont know about? I just put 2 400gb drives in bay #3 and bay #4, and went to disk utility.. they show up, but when i click raid, i cant drag them together?

Did you partition and format them?
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Click on the Erase button.
Repeat above for second drive.
Note that if you have already installed OS X on one of the drives you cannot create a RAID. The RAID must be created when both drives are empty.

As b noir pointed out...the playlist can be sorted by artist, or album, or track number...which can be helpful or really annoying, depending on what you are trying to do. Just select/sort that far left column (Left of "Name") and then you can reorder the playlist.
