Region in soundtracks as in logic?

there is any way to manage regions in sopundtrack pro as in logic ?
I want to copy and save without export part of audio file and later to drag where i need it, is it possible?

STP does not do Regions like Logic does. It would be a nice feature, though.

  • Does soundtrack come with Logic Pro?

I recently purchased Logic from the app store.  I have been reading up on tutorials and it made mention of Soundtrack Pro which is supposed to be bundled with the software.  Where do I download this?  Is this not a full version of Logic?

Soundforge mac is missing a ton of features from the PC version.  I'm going to wait but it may be OK for some people's needs now.
STP was abandoned a couple years ago then finally officially dropped.  It's not too bad for people who already have it, but I wouldn't want to start out with it now.

  • How can I keep my regions organized for arranging in Logic 9?

I just finished getting all of the loops/tracks I need for my dub tune, and it's time to arrange it.  My arrange view is full of scattered puzzle pieces.  The tracks and regions are named to help stay organized.  I start the tune on measure 16 so that I can stuff all my regions in the first 16 bars and then option-drag or copy paste into the arrangement as needed.  This requires tedious scrolling back to the beginning to grab regions, though.  I guess the audio bin is an option, but mine is full of all these extra items that clutter it up and that I'm afraid to delete.  Also, there is no bin to keep MIDI regions in.  Ideally, I would like a bin with only audio and MIDI regions that I want to use for the song and only one of each (some of the files in the audio bin are copies of the same and are labeled bongo.1, bongo.2, bongo3, etc.) And some files in the audio bin don't sound when I preview them.  Any insight to my problem would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Thanks for the suggestions, guys.  I have briefly played around with the screensets.  I was hoping I could keep all my regions/loops in bars 1-35 or so and start my new version at bar 200, then get my zoom levels and playhead position just how I wanted it for both.  Then copy and paste regions from the beginning to bar 200+.  This didn't work out so well because;
    A. Regions are not pasting where I want them to, and
    B. I must not fully understand how screensets work yet because they are not locking the things needed to make jumping back and forth easy (namely, playhead position)
I read the screensets chapter of the manual, and got no more clarity.  Also read the folders section and that was also a bit vague.  I'm going to revisit my Logic Pro Training books, folders and screenset sections, and see if that helps.  Then I will attempt to follow your ideas as closely as I can and see what happens.  SeanE. Man, I'm a little confused by the second half of your reply, but making Apple Loops might just be the ticket right there.  I wasn't real thrilled with making loops just to add them to a sea of loops, but you're right.  If you add the project name with them,  I, in theory, should be able to have all my instrument and audio loops right there all neat and tidy if I search the project name.  I will report pack with my results.  Thanks again everyone!

  • Marquee selecting audio region then hitting DELETE crashing Logic

When I marquee select and audio region and hit delete it crashes Logic everytime. Is it a setting I have maybe unknowingly checked off that restricts the use of marquee? It happens when I marquee just audio AND audio+blank space. How am I supposed to trim as I go along?
OK, now it's working, but I'm not going back to the original place where it was happening. Is it possible that one little piece of audio gets corrupted?
This has happened a couple times just like this...I'm halfway through posting a message on this topic and it self-corrects, but then when it happens again I'm kind of scratching my head again.

After further troubleshooting I've realized that the suspicious audio file that prevents the project file from opening is actually not corrupted itself. I can still play the audio file in other media software like Quicktime, etc. with no problem.
This leads me to believe the problem opening the project file lies solely with the corrupted 'documentData' file.
Does anyone have any ideas about how I could somehow open this project file and delete the reference of the troublesome audio file from the project's audio bin?
Well... it really sounds like the project itself is corrupted, that's one of the reasons all project files won't load from a certain point on.
    Try this.
    Reboot the Mac.
Open the Applications folder and boot Logic from it's icon.
As soon as the Logic Logo/graphic window appears on the screen hold down the control key. You will see a message pop up that says something like "Launch the Core Audio Driver" there will be yes/no choice available... select NO.
Go to the File menu and selct "open" go find your project file and see if it will open. If it does.. delete the audio file in question... however.. I would also look at any plugins you recently installed and are possibly using in this project...this sounds more like a plugin problem rather than an audio file problem, but that's just a gut feeling.
Anyway, if it opens delete whatever you suspect and save under a different name.
Reboot Logic and see if it can load the project.

  • Soundtrack pro from Logic Studio & Final Cut Pro(please read)

i recently purchased a mac pro an logic studio for soundtrack after using a mac at school.
we had the soundtrack version that came bundled with final cut pro and i have noticed that some of the samples that are in the final cut version differ from the logic version ( nuther lectro, ethnic FX loop and so on). im wondering if there is any way of obtaining loops from the final cut version for use with my logic version..
    thanks in advance

i purchased the logic studio suite and it came with 5 jam packs..the other one i spoke of that was bundled with final cut had no additional content outside of the stock basic content in the core program, so my new question would be, if i can locate the individual samples from an earlier version, could i just drop them into the library for use??
    thanks in advance

  • Soundtrack Pro, with Logic Studio. app will not work, while Garage Band is present on my iMac?

Still new to Logic Pro. Got the Soundtrack Pro when i bought the Logic Studio. am i to understand that this app will not work, while Garage Band is present on my iMac?
if this is true, i'd welcome any suggestions.  do i have to delete GarageBand on current machine which has Logic Pro?
    appreciate any help
    thanks,

My MacPro w/ OSX 10.6.8 runs GarageBand, SoundtrackPro and Logic 9 (Express) without issues.
Everything was installed fresh - ie no overwrite OS upgrades and no app version overwrite upgrades.
Just so we are clear - an UPGRADE would be from OSX 5 to 6 or from Logic 8 to 9 and involves a purchase. UPDATES are those decimal increments - 10.6.7 to 10.6.8  or Logic 9.1.3 to 9.1.6 that are free.
Sometimes the sequence of installs can make a difference.
    Good luck,
    x

  • Do i need waveburner, mainstage and soundtrack pro for logic pro?

Is it ok if i delete these files or do i need to keep them on my drive. Ive never used any of the three. All i use is logic. Will deleting those other 3 applications erase files that are used for logic?

    No Problem to delete them

  • Logic won't convert my Soundtrack Pro edits

Logic (9.1.3) won't update edits made to my audio regions in Soundtrack Pro (Version 3.0.1)
The audio material is my own (i.e. not Apple Loops etc.) I've never done this before but its supposed to work. 1) Select region in Logic>Options>Audio>Open in STP. 2) Make edit in STP then File>Save File. 3) Click to reactivate Logic Arrange window (I've tried both quitting STP and leaving it open before this step) - Progress bar shows Logic creating wave graphic but it is only refreshing the original wave and not loading the edited wave. Renaming during step 2 is of no help either. Any clues as to the problem or what would be the easiest work around? THANKS

    Hi
With Logic 9 and STP3 there should be no need to Flatten before switching back to Logic. It is only necessary to Save in STP.
I have encountered a couple of other problems occasionally:
    A) In STP, make sure that the file is actually being saved as a '.stap' file and not an aiff/wav. It might be necessary to do a "save As" and then re-send over from Logic??
    B) When switching back to Logic from STP, I have occasionally run into problems with the method used to switch programs. Instead of simply 'clicking in a Logic window', try using CMD TAB to switch the active program. Alternatively, in STP simply Save then Quit.

  • What's wrong with Logic and Soundtrack Pro

Just spent a frustrating day trying to record with Soundtrack Pro and Logic
Soundtrack is working on and off
    Problems:
    1. Even if sounds are loaded in the multitrack editor, no sound when playing. Only the Solo (S) button make a track sound. No idea what's wrong?
    2. Trying to record directly into a multitrack sometimes works, and sometimes not.
    3. When making another attempt to record, the noise of death appeared (same as the long thread on Logic.
Finally I just recorded in Amadeus Pro. At least that software works. It just crazy. Look I accept there is a learning curve but this s just crazy
Apple is becoming an arrogant company that is becoming more interested in creating gadgets that providing tools that work
    Sorry for the rant

I've worked on both Windows and OS X (Unix), with a few apps over the years. No one can possible work with every app on every hardware configuration possible on every OS available. So to make the statement you actually have is preposterous.
That said, Logic is the most used software in project studios. Mixing engineers like ProTools better. But the two have way more market share than anything else.
    Hey Ben,
Sorry to bump your fanboy applecart... (don't mean that as derogatory as it may sound, I liked the play on words)
From everything that's happening here and the west coast (USA) many of the Logic users I know have switched to other software, the two Logic studios here have gone to ProTools mainly because Logic version 8 was so unstable, there are no more Logic studios here. The studio with the most business uses a Radar system, the second busiest studio is running Sonar. There is a fellow with a mobile system using a MBP and Logic but he uses version 7.
The University here took bids 3 years ago and opted for PC/Nuendo/RME setups.
So yes, Logic may indeed have the most project studio percentage but since every jerk can download it for free what is the quality coming out of these project studios? My point is, for professionals, Logic is becoming less and less of an option, most everyone that used it professionally has been disappointed in Apples support of the product, a long time between upgrades and except for user boards like this... literally zero professional support. You know there's problems when you call up Apple and know far more about Logic than the support staff. It seems like both of those are starting to improve but I think it's a little too late. Also... there's still the "blast of white noise" problem that hasn't been addressed, no professional studio can take that kind of chance.
Apple is using Logic to sell hardware, smart business, absolutely. However, cutting the price in half, removing the copy protection and throwing in the kitchen sink plus seemingly not giving a d@mn that the program is pirated leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.

  • How do I transfer arrange  regions   from Logic 8 to Logic 9 Pro?

I am tired of waiting for Logix X or whatever it will be called and  intend to download Logic 9 pro  from the app store.   I  moved  my old Logic 8 to the  new  mountian lion macbook pro, but  am having  dreaded system error notifcations on the first project I started on the new computer. Simple  googling shows that  Mountain lion   does not like Logic 8.  Hence, my intent to download Logic 9 pro.  Hopefuly that  satisfies my needs until X comes out.
The question is simple. I have  a  2 audio regions and 2 software instrument regions in the  project I started in the old logic 8 . They are pretty much done and are the  backbone of this new  song.  How do I get these regions   over to  a new  Logic  9 project  when  9 is finally downloaded and on- board  the new computer.
Step by step instructions  would really be appreciated. Thank you.
Any tips/caveats  regarding the logic 9 download are also appreciated

When  you say "move logic 8 from the applications folder"  do you mean to click and drag somewhere?
Where would I drag  it so that the project  only  opens up in  the newly installed logic 9?
Thank you. (I thought logic 9 would be empty and not automatically incorporate the existing   logic 8 projects).

  • Export from Soundtrack to Logic?

How can I export a Soundtrack project so that I can open it in Logic? Is there a way to do this as a single file without exporting all the Soundtrack tracks as individual files?

I suppose my question is more along the lines of what solution (I've purchased them all) allows you to Record and Edit multiple spoken tracks of audio?
    I've purchased:
    SoundTrack Pro
    SoundBooth
    Logic Express
    Audacity
and of course I've upgraded to iLife 09.
If one of these tools could allow you to select a section of audio from 1, 2, 3, or all tracks and delete it with a "Ripple Delete" option, then I'd be a happy guy.
    Right now:
GarageBand doesn't allow you to delete and shift-left "ripple delete".
As for Logic, I don't see ripple delete either.
SoundTrack does do this but it only allow me to edit one Track at a time--open them all, but edit one, then the other, then the other. Lots of flipping around.
With Audition (which is limited to Windows) I can select a section of 1, 2, 3, or all tracks, and delete that section, ripple or not.
FYI: "Ripple" is a Final Cut Pro term.
To be honest, no that I think about it... FinalCut Pro may be the best solution. Load everythign into it as separate tracks and have at it--at least it does it.
Remember, I'm not a musician, nor do I record music, only audio for podcasting. (but don't equate "podcasting" to Video-podcasting as most people do).
Anyway, my solution will be to load Virtual Box on the Mac. Record using Logic (which did a great job of recording onto multiple tracks) and then bring those AIF files into Adobe Audition under Windows in VirtualBox--or perhaps on a Networked PC.
Of course the other solution (and perhaps less painful) would be to simply abandon the Mac entirely and move all this stuff onto the PC and only use the Mac for FinalCut Pro work. What a huge disappointment that would be.

  • Pro App Serial Problem - Final Cut Studio Logic Studio and Soundtrack

    Installed Logic Studio 8
    then
Installed Final Cut Studio - Academic
    both include Soundtrack.
now Soundtrack has the academic splash screen.
If i wanted to... how can i assign soundtrack to my logic studio serial?
would i have to reinstall soundtrack? is there any situation where this would matter?
    i don't know.
    thanks everyone.

If i wanted to... how can i assign soundtrack to my logic studio serial?

I wouldn't worry about it. The program is exactly the same whether it thinks it's an academic version or not, and I can't think of any other reason why this would make any difference.
If you really wanted to see whether you could get it connected back to Logic, go to HD/Library/Application Support/Pro Apps, and dump the file that says 'Logic Studio System ID.' This is the file that holds your Logic serial number. Next time you load Logic, put your serial number in again and it will create a new Logic Studio System ID file. When you do this it will make the Logic System ID file newer than the FC System ID file, and maybe Soundtrack will be connected to this one instead of FC's. But again, don't worry about it - it really makes no difference at all.

  • Soundtrack Pro Plugins in Logic Express

I own Logic Express and Soundtrack Pro, i was wondering whether it's possible to somehow use the plugins such as Space Designer and Match EQ from Soundtrack Pro with Logic Express.
    Thanks for your help...

    Well thats dissapointing...
I'm guessing that they are built in to the program rather than audio units floating about it a folder somewhere then.

  • Simultaneous Editing of Multiple Files in Soundtrack

I have an 8track Logic Project where I have a cough in the middle of a bell ring. There is bleed of this over all the tracks. Can I isolate that region in Logic, and export an audio file for each track region to Soundtrack Pro, and then edit them simultaneously? I want to be able to Display Frequency Spectrum View for 8 tracks simultaneously, and edit the cough out right there. Rather then editing the cough out 8 times, once for each track. I have several songs with coughs in them so this would not be efficient. I know there may be a better solution for removing my cough, but regardless I am interested to learn if you can use Frequency Spectrum View on multiple audio files simultaneously. Thank you for your help.
    -Chris

You say you have several hundred files with 3 columns of data in them. You want to take out the 3rd column from each file and create a new file that contains all  the 3rd columns.
This seems to imply the output file will have several hundred columns in it. Is that correct?

  • Amplitude increase when using Soundtrack Pro as external editor

I am finding that when I use Soundtrack Pro as an external sample editor from within Logic, the subsequent audio in STP is louder by about 7-8dB, and so often clips. The audio region plays normally within the Logic sample editor and if I open it with STP, not going via Logic, it plays normally as well.
Am I missing something about the 'use external editor' command, or is this a bug?

I'm glad to hear I'm not making a trivial error - unless we both are of course . Another bug seems to be that the waveform disappears at odd times.
I think I will persist with STP as it covers some ground better than Logic, though it is a bit thin to be properly regarded as a 'Pro' app in its own right. It definitely rests on the coat-tails of FCP.
matrixx, what do you use as an external editor instead, if anything?
