Regional Locking

Someone at the Carphone Warehouse in the UK said that iPhones bought through them, even if initially SIM-Free, are locked regionally (only usable with networks in the UK), whereas SIM-Free iPhones bought directly from the Apple UK site are totally unlocked, so I can use it internationally even after using it with a UK network.
However, I assume that this is referring specifically to the phone and not the SIM? If I buy an iPhone 5 directly from Apple and a '3' nano SIM from Carphone Warehouse to apply to the iPhone as its first SIM, will it remain totally unlocked or will regional locking apply? Doesn't seem like there's any info about this on their website or product details.

So, just to confirm, if the phone itself is bought from Apple, but the SIM for the phone is bought from Carphone Warehouse and applied to the phone, the phone itself will still be able to be used internationally, because it's the phone but not the SIM that matters in this case, right?

Regarding region lock (Australia)

Hi,
iPhones are not region locked. However, some parts inside may not be compatible with (in your case) non-Australian carriers due to the cellular radios being different in every country. So until you try it, you don't really know.

It would be cheaper to buy it on eBay and have it shipped to you.
Right now the iPad store won't be accessible to you, so you won't be able to get any apps. It also may mean you can't register it.

How to remove Region-lock on DVD drive?

My laptop is equipped with pioneer dvr-k16a. I had watched some DVD borrowed from my friend who required region 1 to play, so I switched it to region 1 and now I can't switch it back anymore. Apparently my DVD-RW being region-locked which I know only after it happens.

If there are no more USER changes allowed, than your drive is permanent locked into the last used Region (Region 1 is America).
There MUST have been a message on your screen asking for your permission to change into a different Region when you switched it to a Region 1.
Like the previous post, I would not flash the drive into a region-free neither, as it is a risky procedure which voids warranty and quality of your drive. This procedure can't be declared as ilegal, as someone easily could buy several Multi-bay drives for each region to watch his Films on.
You can still watch different region movies on a region-locked drive with specific region-free software solutions. Google them yourself as I don't want this reply to disappear again.

Ipad air 2 region locked

This month, my mother will be going on a business trip to Bangkok. And said that if I want to get something, I could. So I was looking for a tablet for my degree course(educational) purposes. My question is, will the app store be region locked if get an ipad from a different country and use it in my country(I reside in India).
The one I am planning to get is the ipad air 2 128GB Wifi Only.
Talking on point, if I buy the aforementioned iPad in Bangkok and then bring it here in India, will I face any issues regarding the app store, the itunes store and also any problem with the upgrades for the iOS as I will be connecting to the internet via Wi-Fi only.

It's not region locked, the country for the stores (iTunes, App Store, iBookstore) will be picked up from the country on your iTunes account, not where it was bought. If you will be using it in India the stores will pick up the Indian store from your Indian billing address on your account.
You won't have problems updating the iOS, that is also not dependent upon where the iPad was bought and subsequently used. All you may need is to be a plug adapter to be able to charge it from the mains.
An iPad doesn't have international warranty, so if you have problems with it you may have to return it to the country of purchase - with a wifi-only iPad you may be ok, but you may not be covered for it in India

MSI DR4-A region locked

i have an MSI DR4-a which appears to be region locked to region 1, i'm in the UK. I have played several disks however it never asked about changing the region. Is there a simple way of unlocking the drive or will updating the firmware from 2.23, which i'm on, to 2.30 clear the region setting.

Apart from that, updating solved some problems I had and improved the performance! (See also info posted by other users, who benefit from this update)

Is Adobe CC region locked via IP address?

Hello my main questions are the following, is Adobe CC subscription region locked to the country/region purchased? If i buy Adobe CC subscription in Australia and later travel to Europe will i be able to use the program to its fullest without issues. Can i connect to my CC with any regions IP or will i need to VPN my way in? If this is the case is it an issue with Adobe in doing this? Or are there other things needed to consider?
The subscription plan i desire is one year long so i need to be sure on compatibility. I have used the search function and couldn't get anything close to this question.

Here is the update:
You are welcome to continue to utilize the Creative Cloud while traveling, you can be offline for up to 99 days if you are an annual subscriber provided that you maintain the Adobe ID country, payment details (billing Details), Currency in Credit card of the CC being paid same.
I would request you to test the working of the CC membership prior to travel. So long as it works before you go, the CC should be fine.

How do I region lock a DVD/Blu-Ray drive?

I want to region lock my drives. So e.g. I want to lock a DVD drive on one computer to region 1 and another drive on another computer(or the same computer) to region 2. Is there a safe fool proof way of doing that? Thanks.

It's not a relevant question - In iDVD forum as
iDVD - can only make one region setting = region 0 (Zero)
This means that DVDs if made for the right TV-Standard (NTSC or PAL) will play in ALL REGIONS.
TV-Standard - is something else and can be set for each new DVD project.
• PAL = 25 frames per second (fps) (EU)
• NTAC = 29.97 fps (USA)
Do not let iDVD convert material from one to the other ! iDVD tries to do it - BUT RESULTING DVD is poor or Worse.
(I use JES_Deinterlacer) to do this - does it so much better and is free)

Set up a new account. If the problem appears there, then you will know it's a system wide.
Run Apple Hardware Test.

Disconnect all devices from the computer then do the following:
Boot up from your Snow Leopard Install DVD while holding down the "c" key.
Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.
Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.
Once this process has been completed restart your computer and repair permissions directly from Disk Utility.
Try changing the DVD region.
If Disk Utility is unable to complete the repair, you will need to use a stronger 3rd party utility like DiskWarrior, Techtool PRO (not Deluxe) or Drive Genius.

MBP Optical Drive is Region Locked Prematurely

I've just arrived in the US for a six month work stint and purchased some DVDs to view on my laptop. I was dismayed to find that my system tells me the drive is now locked (to Region 4 I assume) and I can't play Region 1 DVDs. Now I know for absolute certain that I had 2 or maybe even 3 switches left before locking.
This system of locking the drives annoys the &^%^ out of me, but that niggle aside, does anyone know why I've lost the normal Apple sanctioned ability to flip my regions at least a couple more times?

Probably a bad switch or chip on the drive itself. Not sure what you're going to be able to do about it though.
Best bet would probably be to use an alternative player like VLC Player, which will ignore region codes. Apple kind of has to play by the MPAA rules with their bundled DVD player, but VLC Player is open source, and so has quite a bit more latitude. Especially with a number of court rulings in their favor.

IBook Combo Drive Region Lock

My iBook drive is locked to Region 3 because of Apple Dvd Player. Is there anyway to make the drive region free or start the Cycle of changes again.All i want is to have it back to Region 1.

The firmware cannot be flashed. You have two choices. Replace the drive or use a different video player. VLC (free) will play all DVDs region free.

1. It has been awhile since I put a DVD as in Hollywood movie. I put a DVD in the computer and ZILCH...nothing starts playing. I do notice a DVD icon with the movie name...inside are two folders...AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS. How do I get the movie to play...I thought it would just start the DVD PLAYER right up and play...

The disc region code does not match the drive region code. The drive regioin code must be changed to play the disc.

Normally video DVDs are set to start Apple's DVD Player via the "CDs & DVDs" System Preference, but this means you can't use VLC if the regions don't match.
If you drag the VIDEO_TS folder to the DVD Player icon it should play, or you can use "Open DVD Media... ⌘O" from DVD Player's "File" menu.
VLC uses "Open Disc... ⌘D".

With some DVD drives you can flash modified firmware to make the drive RPC-1, which allows unlimited region changes (when used with Region X).
If you don't have one of the newer Matshita drives, you can play DVDs with VLC, which doesn't bother with regions, or you can use MacTheRipper to make a region-free copy of your DVDs.

CS4: Editable Region locked in design view - weird bug in CS4?

Hi,
I've the following issue to report: My template based webpages contain 3 editable regions. One of them (cText_m0) refuses editing in desgin view though it's editable (colored code) in code-view. Neither ALT+click nor doubleclick helps.

IE only pays attention to the DOCTYPE if it is the very first
