REGIONAL OPTIONS with WEBUTIL

When trying to run an application with Webutil while having regional settings other than English, the application fails to start.
Webutil seems to be unable to create the webutil.properties file in the Jinitiator directory on the client with regional settings other than English
Once this file is present in the Jinitiator directory , the regional settings can be in whatever language and the application starts fine
Any ideas??

  • Forms 11g with Webutil don´t show in browser IE 9

    Hi people,
    I have a problem with Webutil. I installed th Oracle Forms/Reports 11g in Red Hat 5.5 x86_64, and when is necessary run a pure Forms, it´s works.
    Now, when I will try run a Forms with Webutil, don´t show in browser IE 9 - Win 7 64bits - Java Plug-in 1.6.0_25 Using JRE version 1.6.0_25-b04 Java HotSpot(TM) Client.
    What can be to show only a gray screen and dont show my Forms ? In java console don´t showed any error, neither in WLS_FORMS.log and forms-diagnost.log.
    My files (cfg and env) configuration is below (sorry by excess of information, but I believe the more information better):

    If you managed to get to the point where the applet container is created (the "gray square"), but the form never appears then you can assume one or more of the following has occurred:
    1. The JRE crashed after startup. Many times, but not always, if such a crash occurs it will leave a JRE dump file on the desktop. Its content may help to identify the cause.
    2. The Forms runtime crashed at startup. Many times, but not always, a Forms dump file will be created on the server. Its content may help to identify the cause.
    3. The Forms runtime was unable to start at all. This can occur on unix systems when/if there is a resource or permissions issue. One of the more common causes is if the file descriptor (nofiles) value is set too low.
    4. The applet is actually running, but has attempted to display a dialog box and is awaiting your acknowledgement, but the box was wrongfully sent to the background behind the browser. A similar issue was reported in one of the JRE 1.6.0_xx series, however I don't recall which one. Uninstall your current version and install the latest which is 1.6.0_27
    There are other possibilities, but these are most common.
    I would recommend the following:
    1. Uninstall any JRE older than 1.6.0_27. Reboot. Install 1.6.0_27
    2. Set networkRetries=5 in formsweb.cfg
    3. Set FORMS_TIMEOUT to 15 (default). Setting to a high value as you have is not recommended and is rarely necessary.
    4. Verify that the test form works. For example:
    http://machine:port/forms/frmservlet?form=test
    5. It appears that you are trying to use WU_TEST_106.fmx. Instead, download an updated version of this file (the name has also changed)
    http://www.oracle.com/ocom/groups/public/@otn/documents/webcontent/196249.zip
    6. Ensure that you have compiled webutil.pll into .plx. Do not use an old version of this file. The installation will include one. If not, check for it in an installation that also includes the Builders.

  • At my wits end with WEBUTIL!!!

    Here i am about to go for my Oracle Forms developer exams and am exploring Webutil and the functionality it provides. I am a bit excited at the many wonderful things it provides, aghh but wait a minute this is oracle and if i know anything its that oracle promises the heaven and earth but to actually get it working you have to really sweat dig, dig through docs which have not been updated and are incorrect or try to decipher what should be straighforward instructions. So i find myself in this usual scenario with Webutil.
    Downloaded the WebUtil User’s Guide in pdf format and one of the first things i read is......
    If you’ve selected the Complete installation option for installing Oracle Developer Suite 10g (10.1.2), WebUtil is installed and configured for you. Yes I have done the complete installation.
    I looked and followed the webutil simple viewlet concerning attaching the library and object group
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/products/forms/demo/9i/javabeans_pjc_samples/webutil/viewlet/WebUtil_Simple_viewlet_swf.html
    But guess what when i run my form i get...
    Oracle.forms.webutil.file filefunctions bean not found.
    Webutil_file.file_selection_dialog_int will not work
    So I followed the Webutil release notes to see whats missing:
    1.
    WebUtil User’s Guide says....
    WebUtil directory structure has these folders:
    doc
    java
    server
    webutil
    Huh? no my webutil directory has only 4 files two of which are to do with signing. But I choose the complete installation. What happened? Should i now go ahead and download webutil and manually place the extracted directories into my existing webutil directory? ...did this
    2.
    WebUtil User’s Guide says....
    Oracle recommends that you create a special user "webutil" on your database as the owner of this package. Once the WEBUTIL_DB package has been created and compiled on the database you will need to make it available to the relevant users of your application. Additionally, you will have to create a synonym of WEBUTIL_DB for this package if you are running from a schema other than the one that you installed it with. The Forms PL/SQL code refers to the package as WEBUTIL_DB without a schema prefix.
    OMG how much more convuluted is this going to get, have seen other docs that describe the webutil package setup and not seen this before, is this necessary? ...not done this, is it really necessary?
    3.
    DevSuite/application-deployments/forms/formsweb/orion-web.xml and forms/server/forms.conf are configured correctly
    4.
    In my formsweb.cfg file I have... WebUtilArchive=frmwebutil.jar,jacob.jar
    Originally had...
    baseHTML=base.htm
    baseHTMLjinitiator=basejini.htm
    baseHTMLjpi=basejpi.htm
    then changed to (as per WebUtil User’s Guide)..
    baseHTMLjinitiator=webutiljini.htm
    baseHTMLjpi=webutiljpi.htm.
    baseHTML=webutilbase.htm.
    5.
    The FORMS_PATH must include the directory where a copy of webutil.pll exists....it does!
    The second requirement within the .env file is for an environment variable WEBUTIL_CONFIG. This variable must point at the name and location of your webutil.cfg file. By default this is in the ORACLE_HOME/forms/server directory
    ...it does!
    The frmwebutil.jar (including its physical location) file must be included in the CLASSPATH, along with the Java runtime Jar rt.jar. e.g.
    CLASSPATH=\ORACLE_HOME\forms\java\frmwebutil.jar;c:\ids9i\jdk\jre\lib\rt.jar
    c:\ids9i\jdk\jre\lib\rt.jar was missing so i added!
    The PATH and library load path (on UNIX platforms) must be defined either in the general environment or specifically in the .env file to allow Forms to call Java. On a Win32 platform this will involve adding the ORACLE_HOME\jdk\jre\bin\client directory of a 1.3 or 1.4 Java install to the PATH. This enables Forms to find the jvm.dll file.
    Checked this and the jvm is in my path already.
    Check that ORACLE_HOME/jdk/bin is in the path. If it is not, add it..........Done this and rebooted.
    5.
    Signing the WebUtil and JACOB Jar files:
    From the JACOB Zip file, extract both jacob.dll and jacob.jar into the ORACLE_HOME\forms\WebUtil and ORACLE_HOME\forms\java directories, respectively DONE!
    In Windows, Issue sign_webutil.bat ORACLE_HOME\forms\java\frmwebutil.jar (or the path to where you installed WebUtil).... Did and got the following...
    F:\>f:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\webutil\sign_webutil.bat F:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\java\frmwebutil.jar
    Generating a self signing certificate for key=webutil2...
    keytool error: java.lang.Exception: Key pair not generated, alias <webutil2> already exists
    There were warnings or errors while generating a self signing certificate. Please review them.
    Backing up F:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\java\frmwebutil.jar as F:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\java\frmwebutil.jar.old...
    1 file(s) copied.
    Signing F:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\java\frmwebutil.jar using key=webutil2...
    ...successfully done.
    In Windows, Issue sign_webutil.bat ORACLE_HOME\forms\webutil\jacob.jar...........Hang on a minute where did the jacob.jar come from? As earlier in this step wasn't the instruction to put JACOB.DLL into the webtutil directory and JACOB.JAR into the forms\java directory.
    Okay decided to copy both jacob.dll and jacob.jar (not respectively as earlier instructed) but to both ORACLE_HOME\forms\WebUtil and ORACLE_HOME\forms\java directories and sign as instructed
    .................was this correct?
    F:\>f:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\webutil\sign_webutil.bat F:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\webutil\jacob.jar
    Generating a self signing certificate for key=webutil2...
    keytool error: java.lang.Exception: Key pair not generated, alias <webutil2> already exists
    There were warnings or errors while generating a self signing certificate. Please review them.
    Backing up F:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\webutil\jacob.jar as F:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\webutil\jacob.jar.old...
    1 file(s) copied.
    Signing F:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\webutil\jacob.jar using key=webutil2...
    ...successfully done.
    Because in this release the JACOB code is in an external Jar file and not incorporated into frmwebutil.jar, it needs to be downloaded. To do this, change the WebUtilArchive setting to read: WebUtilArchive=frmwebutil.jar,jacob.jar
    Thanks Oracle for not pointing out exactly which file you are talking about here (formsweb.cfg dosen't exactly take that long to type, does it?), yes you can let any newbies try and figure that out for themselves :)
    6.
    EnvFile - If you use a named environment file or the default.env ensure that the FORMS_PATH that you have set includes the ORACLE_HOME\forms directory and that you have set the WEBUTIL_CONFIG variable to define the physical location of your webutil.cfg file, ORACLE_HOME\forms\server\webutil.cfg.
    ...checked this!
    I am at a loss and am getting really fed up with this having spent a whole day trying to get this working and have got nowhere. Also to read rubbish like.....
    "If you’ve selected the Complete installation option for installing Oracle Developer Suite 10g (10.1.2), WebUtil is installed and configured for you."
    in the oracle docs makes my blood boil
    Gus
    Oracle Forms 10.1.2
    Running on a standalone PC

    When i run my form this is what i get back....
    Oracle.forms.webutil.file filefunctions bean not found.
    Webutil_file.file_selection_dialog_int will not work
    With my initial email i have tried to give as much detail as possible as to what i have tried, sorry i know its really long.
    Thanks
    Gus

  • Windows "Regional Options" locale - JCE for 8bit vs 16bit character sets

    I have a Java application that reads in an Encrypted text file. The text file was Encrypted using JCE 1.2.1 and Encrypted on a Windows system with the locale set to English(US). The Encryption uses Sun's version of the DES encryption algorithm.
    This app reads in the Encrypted text file and Decrypts it and processes it's information.
    This works fine on Windows systems if the Regional Options control panel is set to a region that uses 8bit character sets:
    - English
    - Italian
    - Spanish
    - French
    But, if the locale is set to 16bit character set regions, the text file cannot be read and parsed. Such regions include:
    - Russian
    - Greek
    - English (Hong Kong)
    At this point, I think I have two options, but I would love to hear about more:
    - Edit the Encrypting/Decrypting code (or the parsing code - parses through a comma deliminated file) so that the file that is Encrypted and Decrypted can handle either an 8bit or 16bit character sets
    (Don't know how to do this)
    or
    - Programatically change the locale of Windows machines to English(US) at application start-up and then change it back to the previous locale setting on application shut-down
    (Don't know how to do this either)
    I'd appreciate any help. I'm not sure if this is an International issue or an JCE issue.
    Thanks in advance

    I found an answer to the problem I was having.
    The culprit were two special characters that the client was using in the encrypted text to distinguish between different fields and to distinguish carriage returns ( and ). The non Latin alphabet languages didn't know what to do with those characters so they substituted there own characters, thus breaking the parsing logic which was hard coded to look for and .
    The problem also was related to the fact that the JCE works with byte[] arrays. FileInputStreams (which deal with byte[] arrays) seem to convert the special characters to new characters in non Lating languages to match what was going on in the JCE logic.
    The easiest fix I could come up with, was to include a new properties file to be read by a separate FileInputStream. This properties text file contained just two characters (). When I loaded in this new properties file via a FileInputStream, the two characters () in the properties file magically change to match the currently active alphabet (or didn't change at all if the computer was using a Latin alphabet).
    By checking the new properties file to see what the characters had changed to (if they had), I was able to know what to use to parse the encrypted data. And as such, regardless of what language the computer was set to, the encrypted data is now parsed correctly, as I took out the hard coding that looked specifically for the characters and and instead rewrote the code so it now uses the characters from the properties file (or whatever characters they change to) for parsing the content data.
    I hope others find this useful.

  • Set Regional Options in Default Domain Policy

    I want to configure the Regional Options for English UK, Location UK (to get the UK keyboard as the default keyboard as logons can be a problem as it is different to the US (default) keyboard)
    The problem is when I go to the Policy (Default Domain) Regional Options English United Kingdom are shown with a red underline and Location United States is shown but is greyed out, i.e. unchangeable. I cannot find out where to change these values
    to get the defaults changed to the UK.
    I have tried creating a policy for this and linking it to the domain, but the option remain the same with the US region greyed out.

    Hi,
    >>The problem is when I go to the Policy (Default Domain) Regional Options English United Kingdom are shown with a red underline
    Press F6 or F5, we can change the red underline to green underline, and this will enable the setting.

    We can change this setting via GPP Registry. The following key holds the setting for Location:
    HKeyCurrentUser\Control Panel\International\Geo\Nation
    We can change the value data to 242 which is the Microsoft geographical location values for UK.

  • Having problem with Webutil

    Hello everyone,
    When I want to upload a document in the database from the client machine, it gives error of
    ORA-04063: package body 'SCOTT.WEBUTIL_DB' has errors
    I installed and configured webutil correctly but I can't figure out what's the problem.
    Can someone help me please??

    hi
    please read it properly i hope it will help u too.
    Configure WebUtil 1.06
    How to get up and running with WebUtil 1.06 included with Oracle Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2 on a win32 platform,
    I also tested it on Linux and it works well (after of course taking care of the differences in PATH format)
    Solution
    Assuming a fresh "Complete" install of Oracle Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2,
    here are steps to get a small test form running, using WebUtil 1.06.
    Note: Oracle_Home is used as an alias for your real oDS ORACLE_HOME.
    Feel free to copy this note to a text editor, and do a global find/replace on
    Oracle_Home with your actual value (no trailing slash). Then it is easy to
    copy/paste actual commands to be executed from the note copy.
    1) Download http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/jacob-project/jacob_18.zip
      and extract to a temporary staging area. Do not attempt to use 1.7 or 1.9.
    2) Copy or move jacob.jar and jacob.dll
      C:\webutile is the folder where you extracted Jacob, and will end in ...\jacob_18
         cd C:\webutile
         copy jacob.jar C:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\java\.
         copy jacob.dll C:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\webutil\.
      The Jacob staging area is no longer needed, and may be deleted.
    3) Sign frmwebutil.jar and jacob.jar
      Open a DOS command prompt.
      Add C:\DevSuiteHome_1\jdk\bin to the PATH:
         set PATH=C:\DevSuiteHome_1\jdk\bin;%PATH%
      Sign the files, and check the output for success:
         C:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\webutil\sign_webutil C:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\java\frmwebutil.jar
         C:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\webutil\sign_webutil C:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\java\jacob.jar
    4) If you already have a schema in your RDBMS which contains the WebUtil stored code,
      you may skip this step. Otherwise,
      Create a schema to hold the WebUtil stored code, and privileges needed to
      connect and create a stored package. Schema name "WEBUTIL" is recommended
      for no reason other than consistency over the user base.
      Open C:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\create_webutil_db.sql in a text editor, and delete or comment
      out the EXIT statement, to be able to see whether the objects were created witout
      errors.
      Start SQL*Plus as SYSTEM, and issue:
         CREATE USER webutil IDENTIFIED BY a
         DEFAULT TABLESPACE users
         TEMPORARY TABLESPACE temp;
         GRANT CONNECT, CREATE PROCEDURE, CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM TO webutil;
         CONNECT webutil/webutil@rcci
         @C:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\create_webutil_db.sql
         -- Inspect SQL*Plus output for errors, and then
         CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM webutil_db FOR webutil.webutil_db;
      Reconnect as SYSTEM, and issue:
         grant execute on webutil_db to public;
    5) Modify C:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\server\default.env, and append C:\oracle\developer\jdk\jre\lib\rt.jar
      to the CLASSPATH entry.
    6) Modify C:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\server\formsweb.cfg insde [default] add :
        archive_jini=frmall_jinit.jar,frmwebutil.jar,jacob.jar
        archive=frmall.jar
        also add  :
        [webutil]
        WebUtilLogging=off
        WebUtilLoggingDetail=normal
        WebUtilErrorMode=Alert
        WebUtilDispatchMonitorInterval=5
        WebUtilTrustInternal=true
        WebUtilMaxTransferSize=16384
        baseHTMLjinitiator=webutiljini.htm
        baseHTMLjpi=webutiljpi.htm
        baseHTML=webutilbase.htm
        archive_jini=frmall_jinit.jar
        WebUtilArchive=frmwebutil.jar,jacob.jar,f90all.jar
        archive=frmwebutil.jar,f90all.jar
        lookAndFeel=oracle
    7) Modify  C:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\server\webutil.cfg and add :
        transfer.database.enabled=TRUE
        transfer.appsrv.enabled=TRUE
    8) Start the OC4J instance
    9) Start Forms Builder and connect to a schema in the RDBMS used in step (4).
      Open webutil.pll, do a "Compile ALL" (shift-Control-K), and generate to PLX (Control-T).
      It is important to generate the PLX, to avoid the FRM-40039 discussed in
      Note 303682.1
      If the PLX is not generated, the Webutil.pll library would have to be attached with
      full path information to all forms wishing to use WebUtil. This is NOT recommended.
    10) Create a new FMB.
      Open webutil.olb, and Subclass (not Copy) the Webutil object to the form.
      There is no need to Subclass the WebutilConfig object.
      Attach the Webutil.pll Library, and remove the path.
      Add an ON-LOGON trigger with the code
             NULL;
      to avoid having to connect to an RDBMS (optional).
      Create a new button on a new canvas, with the code
             show_webutil_information (TRUE);
      in a WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger.
      Compile the FMB to FMX, after doing a Compile-All (Shift-Control-K).
    11) Under Edit->Preferences->Runtime in Forms Builder, click on "Reset to Default" if
      the "Application Server URL" is empty.
      Then append "?config=webutil" at the end, so you end up with a URL of the form
          http://server:port/forms/frmservlet?config=webutil
    12) Run your form.sarah

  • Checking against Select-Options with "CP" using "IF value IN select_option"

    Dear experts,
    first of all: I'm sorry, if this question already should have been asked and answered!
    I tried quite a lot of search terms but didn't find anything helpful.
    We are using a statement like "IF value IN select_option" to perform comparisons after the Select-Options have been used in a SELECT statement. This logical expression fails (compared to the results of the DB-SELECT) whenever a select-option line contains the option CP (Contains Pattern). To be more specific: The case sensitivity of the LOW value doesn't seem to play a role any more. A variable with the value 'ABCD' would be positively checked against a select-option with OPTION 'CP' and LOW 'abc*', whereas this value wouldn't have been selected if the select-option had been used in a DB-SELECT.
    Does anybody know a workaround?
    Thanks in advance
    Andreas

    Dear Keshav,
    it's an own field in an own table, defined as CHAR of length 140 (lowercase allowed), reflecting to a line of remittance info of an account statement. A regular Select-Option for this field is provided in a report which works perfectly fine regarding the case sensitivity. For reasons I don't want to point out in detail we need to check a value in this field against the select-option without selecting it from the db again.
    Let's assume that a field remittance_info contains the value 'ABCD'.
    A line of the select-option table looks like this:
    select_option_table-SIGN = 'I'
    select_option_table-OPTION = 'CP'
    select_option_table-LOW = 'abc*'.
    Then an ABAP statement such as
    IF remittance_info IN select_option_table.
    * would be true !!!
    ENDIF.
    but wouldn't deliver a result in a SELECT such as
    SELECT * FROM my_table INTO TABLE my_internal_table WHERE remittance_info IN select_option_table.
    because of the differences in lower/upper case.
    regards
    Andreas

    The PDF has fields to fill in but then to save a copy I need to "print" to PDF not save as a pdf because that is not an option with the document.  Is there a way to do this?  HELP!

    Sorry I thought  was just a one off, it would be no use for large volumes.
    Do you not have this avaiable in the print menu in Preview with these documents?
    I have also found a link on the Adobe web site that discusses that this facilty is enabled by the creater of the PDF.

    If you do a web search there are various claims on how to save a protected PDF, I have'nt a way to test the proceedures. I would want a copy of any forms that I sent off, not sure why they protect them in this way, there must be a reason.

  • Pages are not printing out correctly. I have tried to fix in the options, with no luck. It prints out with spaces in between the letters.

    When I go to print any page from an email, webpage, pdf file..the pages print out very wide fonts to the point where it is unreadable. I have tried to fix in the options with no luck. I can provide you with visuals if you need me to.

    Thanks very much! It works! The print / review print - print works like it is supposed to. The print is corrected and works great. Thanks again.

  • RegionRenderer encodeAll The region component with id: pt1:r1 has detected a page fragment with multiple root components. Fragments with more than one root component may not display correctly in a region and may have a negative impact on performance.

    Hi,
    I am using JDEV 11.1.2.1.0
    I am getting the following error :-
    <RegionRenderer> <encodeAll> The region component with id: pt1:r1 has detected a page fragment with multiple root components. Fragments with more than one root component may not display correctly in a region and may have a negative impact on performance. It is recommended that you restructure the page fragment to have a single root component.
    Piece of code is for region is:-

    How do I resolve it ?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    I see at least 3 errors
    1. <RegionRenderer> <encodeAll> The region component with id: pt1:r1 has detected a page fragment with multiple root components.
    the page fragment should only have a single component under the jsp:root tag. If you see more than one, wrap them in e.g. an af:panelGroupLayout or af:group component
    2. SAPFunction.jspx/.xml" has an invalid character ".".
    check the document (you can open it in JDeveloper if the customization was a seeded one. Seems that editing this file smething has gone bad
    3. The expression "#{bindings..regionModel}" (that was specified for the RegionModel "value" attribute of the region component with id "pePanel") evaluated to null.
    "pageeditorpanel" does seem to be missing in the PageDef file of the page holding the region

  • Mirroring Option with AppleTV and iMac

    I am interested in the mirroring option with the AppleTV.  From what I have read, only the newer macs have the capability to stream to a TV using AppleTV.  My iMac is a mid 2011 but is only running on Lion 10.7.3.  If I were to upgrade to the latest Mountain Lion (10.8.5 I think) will my computer be capable for the mirroring option?
    I do not have an AppleTV yet so I cannot test it out myself.  I want to make sure I can utilize the mirroring option with my computer before I purchase.

    The latest Mountain Lion version is 10.8.4 but yes , you should be fine.
