Regional settings and currency

All the way from 10.0, to 10.2 (even 10.2.1 so far as I know), have shown the following text:
"The region settings are used to adapt date format, default currency and number format."
The only way I can explain this is the '$' key on your keyboard should adapt to whichever region you set it to (UK £, EU € and so on).
But this has never worked, it always stays as $. Is this an oversight?
BlackBerry 10 signed.

Yes, it is.
Are you wanting me make it easier to enter the UK pound "£" symbol or?

  • How to modify regional settings and keep Acrobat 9.4.1 working?

When I modify the regional settings on my W7 PC (i.e. switching the decimal symbol and digit grouping symbol from dot to comma and vice-versa), I cannot print to Adobe PDF Printer nor can I convert Office documents to PDF files anymore. It seem like the joboptions files were getting corrupted (I can see read errors).
Can anyone advise on how to modify the regional settings and keep Acrobat 9.4.1 Pro working properly? Do I have to adopt the joboptions files (and if yes, how?)?
    Thank you for your advice!

The defaults for three are blank entries. That is there are no defaults, The only way to get those back to being blank would be to delete your preferences file ( Home->Library->Preferences->com.apple.Aperture,plist ) and possibly the files in *Home->Library->Program Support->Aperture* (but I don't think you would need to do these, not sure.)
However before you do this you should know there is no drawback to having these entries filled in. Aperture would only attempt to use them if you actually selected them while using Aperture. It won't be looking for them on startup. And if the programs pointed to by these entries no longer exist on your system Aperture won't even fill in the names in the menu items where these are pointed to ( *Photos->Edit with* for example)

  • I have changed Mountain Lion settings and currencies to the dollar, but I am still getting everything in euros.

Alfred, thank  you for your suggestions which I had already done. For some weird reason, I'm still getting everything in euros. My i-tunes account is the American one, so nothing is coming from there. Does anyone else have any other suggestions? Many thanks in advance!

Just a heads up. I noticed in your history the same question being asked. You don't have to keep posting a similar question if someone has responded. Just update that post.

  • WP8.1 MapControl: Regional settings

The MapControl in my WP8,.1 app displays localized labels based on the device's regional format. For eg:  WP8.1>Settings>Region>Regional format is set to Russian(Russia) and Country is United States, the labels displayed on the map include
both English and Russian. Is there a way i can override the regional settings and cause the Map Control to show only English labels. The Language property does not seem to work.

I don't think so. Had the WP team used a map control that was made by the Bing Maps team then it would have as our controls have this flexibility, but unfortunately WP8/8.1 is using a map control they created on their own and is very limited in functionality.

  • Currency format and Regional Settings

Is it possible for WebI reports to honor Regional Settings (client system or BO system or BO setup) and correctly handle the currency format without making any changes to the report?
    Neeraj Bhatia

There might be a smarter way, but you could use alerters and the GetLocale() function.
Create a new variable called, Currency Type with the formula
=If GetLocale() InList("en_AU";"en_US") THEN "Dollar" ELSE "Euro"
Or whatever. Then use an alerter where the "Filtered object or cell" is the Currency Type variable, and the Operand is "Dollar" then click Format... then at the top click Default next to Number Format and set the appropriate currency format.
Add a sub-alerter to do the same for Euro, and whatever other currencies you must allow for.
    Hope that helps.

  • Currency in report taken from regional setting and not infocube

    Dear All,
I am facing very strange issue. I am using BEx analyzer 7.0
I executed a report in Windows 2000, Excel 2003. The values are displayed correctly with currency which is in cube irrespective of the currency set in regional option in control panel.
We are doing testing on windows vista and excel 2007 as we will upgrade to SAP GUI 7.10 and windows vista. I executed the report and the result values are matching but the currency is differant. The currency is taken from the regional settings in control panel. If I go to regional setting and change the currency, the report which is open in BEx analyzer changes the currency.
We are facing this strange issue for only queries on 1 infocube. Other queries on another infocubes/multicubes are working fine.
Has anyone faced the same issue. Please provide some pointers/solutions for above issue.
    Regards,
    Niraj

    Hi Shalu
    The Library 0FL has 4 currencies... i.e.
    HSL  - Local Currency
    TSL   - Transaction Curre
    KSL  - Second Currency
    OSL  - Third Currency
Go to GRR2 (Report form of your report), and double click on any column... You choose Key Figures in the Columns in a areport painter report... there you would have chosen any one of these currencies...
Right click on the column and Copy it and paste it... Now change the Key Figure of the copied column to the one you desire...
This should give you values in both currency...
To identify which form you have used in GRR2 - Execute your report and go to Extras Menu > Technical Information.. In the pop up window that opens, double click on field "Report".

  • Code Page and System Local settings v regional settings

    Hello All
Can someone please clarify exactly what the system local settings are. I thought they are a total of the keyboard settings, plus the decimal formats and the currency signs. However this looks to be part of the regional settings when you check in control
    panel.
Also what is the significance of the code page settings. Again I cannot get a clear answer I thought these were language settings defined on the operating system. That are defined at the system level.
    Many thanks

If you are looking for the difference then here you go:
    Regional options settings
    The Regional
Options tab contains the following settings:
    Standards and formats
These are user-specific settings and are stored as part of the user profile.
    Location
This is a user-specific setting and is stored as part of the user profile.
    Language settings
    The Languages tab
    contains the following settings:
    Default input language
This is a user-specific setting and is stored as part of the user profile.
    Installed services

  • Regional Settings differences between 2008 and 2012

    Hi There,
Can anyone explain why some of the regional setting details have changed with Win 2012?
    Example: Dutch (Belgium) - nl-BE
The 'Digital Grouping Symbol' has changed from a DOT to a WHITESPACE.
    2008 - €1.000,00 whereas 2012 - €1 000,00
If the settings are changed on the servers will they persist after OS updates etc?
    Rgds,
    Frank

    Hi Vivian,
I see no reference in the KB article to modifications for the CET timezone nor any reference to the resolution of culture format info discrepancies.
A further issue is that the active regional settings on our PRD servers will be set to United States and it would appear that any modification to the Belgium locales (i.e. nl-BE, fr-BE) are not persisted once you switch to United States as the
    active setting.
The knock on effect of this is that for our PRD web-applications (which are active across many regions), we have to write code to override the OS information. .NET uses the OS info to populate its Culture information.
Could you confirm if the differences between 2008 and 2012 are the result of a bug or are the changes planned? Based on communication with some of our customers in Belgium, they are of the opinion that the 2008 (and Win 2003) settings are per their expectations.
I really do not what to have to handle these situations across our application landscape and am sure that other people with globalized applications will also hit problems.

  • Error in South Africa Regional Settings in Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8

Please note that the format for numbers in South Africa regional settings is incorrect. I discovered this through on of our products that would not work on Server 2012, but works from XP to Windows 7.
Where the decimal was always a point it has now been changed to a comma, which is incorrect and most likely will cause a lot of issues for customers in south africa that use decimal data.
I can already see spatial data breaking where decimals are used and stored with points and not commas.
To reproduce this error set your regional settings to South Africa and execute the following code in C#
    System.Convert.ToDouble("10.1234");
This will throw a FormatException. Change regional settings from a , to a . and there we go it works.

It seems that this is development related issue, please try to submit a new post in DEV forum. Thanks.
    Thanks

Respectfully Mr. Xia, it looks like the OP is reporting a localization issue, not a development issue.
    For the OP, there's a
well researched post by a South African developer describing that the decimal comma is the correct choice.  The work cites University style guides, International conference agreements, and government legislation and regulation.
An excerpt from Mr. MacLean's post, quoting work from EEPublishers:
English-speaking countries (plus China, India and Japan) use the decimal point. There seems to be a general tendency to formally declare its use worldwide and the International Organisation for Standardization, ISO, also tends towards using the decimal point
over the decimal comma. In view
of the South African law, however, the comma shall still be employed in South Africa as “the only recognised decimal indicator for all numbers” [3].

  • Set Date/Currency/Numeric Format in WebIntelligence - Regional Settings

We have migrated from BOE R2 to BOE R3.1, and our users have observed that the date & numeric format is not localized to spanish (Spain).
How can Web Intelligence regional settings be configured to all the users (not editing personal configuration of every user)?
For instance the time is indicated with AM/PM instead of 24h time format and the numbers are separated by comma (,) and not by dot (.).
    Example 11,816,138 instead of 11.816.138
    Thank you!

Problem solved, the fp 1.3 installation did not complete.
We reinstalled it and now everything works properly.

  • Clients and Regional Settings

    Clients an Regional Settings
    Hello,
I have one problem with my data base cause i have 20 clients
    (W2000/w98/w95) and 13 of thems
transport the default client regional settings when they start
the connect to the Oracle (Sun) DB. They do that true the ALTER
SESSION.... and i don't whant this.
    Thank you vary mutch,
    Miguel

    Hi Grant,
first very thanks for the kind reply and here my problem goes on :
I only see the problem with Turkish regional setting.I tried german, french ... and at first install of the jinitiator it always asked for me to GRANT ALWAYS to the Certificate. But when i use turkish it never asks and so the certificate does not being signed also my application does not run which uses corresponding jar files which are not signed. However,as i defined in my previous mail if at first the client has English,German or French regional setting the IE browser asks for the "Grant Always" certificate and then if the client changes her regional setting to Turkish it does not matter that my application runs.Because the IE browser already signed the corresponding jars while my client's regional setting was english at first install.
Why oracle does not support turkish based regional setting installation of the Jinitiator1.3.1.9
Is there any way to do it with oracle.Or I have to write a program which will make the regional settings english at the first installation of the jinitiator1.3.1.9
If you need further explanation do not hesitate to write me.Thanks :)
    Best Regards,

  • Problem with Crystal Report XI and Regional Settings

    Dear All,
I am working on Crystal Report XI under Chinese Windows 2000 Professional and Chinese Visual Foxpro 9.0.
I created a User defined Function Library under VFP9.0 as an ActiveX with a function that return a String. I could saw the function in CR XI and the function works fine when returning English. When the function returning a Chinese String, CR XI gives different result. The Chinese text returned from the function only works when my regional settings (control panel -> regional settings) is set to Chinese Taiwan otherwise it shows "??????".
It is queer, the text object always correct, shows Chinese text, no matter what regional settings is. I did try my best in VFP to convert the string to double byte, unicode, etc but it stilll doesn't work.
Could anyone help me please. Thank you.
    Regards,
    Antony

If you have the correct font, it will actually say "MS Arial Unicode" in any of the font drop downs - CR Designer, MS Word or any other software. So, you'll have to ensure that the font is installed.

  • Problem with Batch Loader and FDM user regional settings

    Hi
    I am using FDM 11.1.2.1.
When I use the English regional settings for my FDM user account, I can do Export Excel from FDM, but Batch Loader doesn't work (Error : "one or more parallel processes failed to start).
When I use the French regional settings for my FDM user account, Export to Excel doesn't work anymore (Error: Conversion from string "12.0" to type 'Long' is not valid. Detail: InnerException1: Input string was not in a correct format.), but the Batch loader is ok.
    Any idea?
Thanks in advance for your help
    Fanny

    Hi Mittal,
By default, formats for date is determined by the report server language at run time. The report server language is the language of the operating system on which the report server is installed. So the formats for date is determined by the language of the
operating system on which the report server is installed.
When you deploy the report to SharePoint site that the regional setting is set to English (Australia), please also set the report language to ‘en-AU’. Then the date format can be also changes to English (Australia).
If the issue is still exited, could you please tell us the date format of date parameters and the field? If possible, please post the screenshot about this, then we can make further analysis.
