Regional Settings Decimal Notation

Hi - Quick question here
I want to default a specific Decimal Notation for our field sales team and do not want them to have to go to the Personalize menu to change.   How do I do this?   I have reviewed the Admin Guide but could not find any details on how to do this.
Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
The decimal notation depends on the personalized settings of each user.
In the current release of the system these changes are user specific i.e. all your users will have to change it with their respective logins to be able to use the required decimal notation.
I’ve heard there is a plan to deliver a report which enables changing decimal notation for mass employees, but there is no commitment for this.

  • Decimal Notation settings

    Dear Community,
I would like to know if is it possible use on SAP  the " . " key of the numeric keyboard as a " , " symbol like we use on MS Excel by regional settings done on Control Panel of windows OS. In excel If I press the " . " on numeric keyboard we get  a " , " by regional settings as I said.
I have set my User profile / own data / Decimal Notation with 1.234.567,89 but doesn't work.  Also, our "Country global parameter" (OY01) decimal foramt, is set as 1.234.567,89
The regional settings on Windows OS is set for decimal notation as 1.234.567,89  but SAP always get the " . " key of the numeric keyboard as a ". " not like the desired " , ".
Could anybody help me with this?
    Regards
    Scottie

    Hi Nils,
Thanks for your reply. I have checked on Control Panel / Regional Settings / Regional options / customize your own format is set with our language (country), so number notation is: 123.456.789,00.
On MS Excel I can check this settings is working OK, so on numeric keyboard part, if I push the "." key, on Excel we get an "," symbol instead "." so regional settings is working ok ouside SAP.
On SAP, on menu System / User Profile / Own Data / Default sheet / Logon Language and Decimal notation is set like 1.234.567,89  ,as Control Panel on Windows OS but when I push on numeric keyboard part the "." key we get the same symbol "." instead desired ",".
We are using SAPGUI 720 patch 6 but we have tested with SAPGUI 710 patch 19 with same wrong result.
If I change as you told me on SAPGUI the decimal notation to 1,234,567.89 works ok because get the "." as decimal format, but we need to use "," symbol.
What could be the reason for this?
    Thanks in advance

  • List of users and their decimal notation settings in SAP system

Hi all, i'm looking to get my hands on a list of all users in our SAP system and their respective decimal notation settings? I know that these can be mass changed using SU10 however I am unable to determine how to view a list of users and their settings.
    Thanks,
    James

    Hi James,
You can find many useful reports, in SUIM transaction to see user details, but not decimal notation field. I don't know a report to show decimal notations, but as a workaround, in order to see the decimal notation, you can check "USR01-DCPFM" by using "SE16".

  • Problems with the system decimal point with german regional settings

I have a Labview 6 app that needs deploying to Germany.
My app sends strings over VISA RS232 and GPIB instruments with floating point numbers.
When changing from English to German regional settings, in Windows XP, periods are now interpreted as commas and the app starts truncating my decimal numbers. So in the English Regional Setting when I send 1.234 I get 1.234 but in the German Regional Settings when I send 1.234 I get 1.000.
I have turned off the "Use localized decimal point" in Tools - Options - Front Panel as well as set any function (Frac/Exp String to Number) that has a "Use System Decimal Point" connector to FALSE.
    Now here's my problem....
This fixed the issue I was having as long as I am in the development environment, however, once I build the application I still get the truncated numbers. Example: I send 1.234 to an instrument and it sees 1.000.
Again this works fine in the development enviroment, sending 1.234 reads 1.234 with German regional settings.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Adam

You can use a simple function of the "Scan from string" function.
Place "%.;" (Without the quotes) in the scanning string, and this will tell LV to use a decimal point for interpretation. If you place "%,;", this will tell it to use a comma.
You can place this at the beginning of your format string, and it simply tells the parser how to work, it doesn't otherwise produce an output.
Using simply "%;" sets the seperator to the system default (maybe the best idea after the code has been run as the changed decimal point character apparently remains changed otherwise). From the LV help
The following codes control the decimal separator used for numeric output. These codes do not cause any input or output to occur. They change the decimal separator for all further inputs/outputs until the next %; is found.
    %,; comma decimal separator
    %.; period decimal separator
    %; system default separator
    Hope this helps
    Shane.

  • How to modify regional settings and keep Acrobat 9.4.1 working?

When I modify the regional settings on my W7 PC (i.e. switching the decimal symbol and digit grouping symbol from dot to comma and vice-versa), I cannot print to Adobe PDF Printer nor can I convert Office documents to PDF files anymore. It seem like the joboptions files were getting corrupted (I can see read errors).
Can anyone advise on how to modify the regional settings and keep Acrobat 9.4.1 Pro working properly? Do I have to adopt the joboptions files (and if yes, how?)?
    Thank you for your advice!

The defaults for three are blank entries. That is there are no defaults, The only way to get those back to being blank would be to delete your preferences file ( Home->Library->Preferences->com.apple.Aperture,plist ) and possibly the files in *Home->Library->Program Support->Aperture* (but I don't think you would need to do these, not sure.)
However before you do this you should know there is no drawback to having these entries filled in. Aperture would only attempt to use them if you actually selected them while using Aperture. It won't be looking for them on startup. And if the programs pointed to by these entries no longer exist on your system Aperture won't even fill in the names in the menu items where these are pointed to ( *Photos->Edit with* for example)

  • No data to refresh in BPC clients with Russian regional settings

    Hello, colleagues
I hope to get some advices and information about saving data in BPC client computers with non-English regional settings (e.g., decimal point is set ","). Our BPC server has English regional settings.
BPC 7.0, SQL Server 2008. I created new Input Schedule by using standard EVDRE function. And data was not sent to SQL Server after clicking Send and Refresh, I got the message "No data to refresh". I examined hidden sheet EVDRE_DATACACHE and found cells in row A with cache data in XML format. After some experiments I found out that if all data values will be replaced with symbol "S" then all data in the sheet with EVDRE could be saved correctly. I don't know any other methods to make data with decimal point "," to be saved. Also I tried to change members of Measure (Periodic - YTD) but i got the same result.
    Thanks for your help.

Actually you have the problem into server.
I think you have the regional settings wrong into server.
We have actually many customers using French, German, Dutch language having "," for decimal separator and it is working fine.
It is not working when actually the settings into the server are not English US.
Please check the follow keys from application server:
    HKEY_USERS - .Default - Control Panel - International
    HKEY_USERS - S-1-18.. - Control Panel - International
    HKEY_USERS - S-1-19 ..- Control Panel - International
    HKEY_USERS - S-1-20 ..- Control Panel - International
    HKEY_USERS - S-1-21..- Control Panel - International
    HKEY_USERS - S-1-21........ ..- Control Panel - International
These keys should be sett all for english US. If it is at least one not correct that can cause problems with sending data.

  • Incorrect decimal notation of amounts for different countries

    Hi,
We are making payments to vendors across different countries through Cheques and BACS.
We are facing an issue with the decimal notation of amounts trhough APP run.
For UK based  vendors amount are passed to the cheque in the format 10,000.00 (Ten Thousand)
For non UK based vendors amounts are passed to the cheque in the format 10.000,00 (Ten Thousand)
Could you suggest on this issue?
    Thanks,
    Naresh

    Hi Naresh ,
Check the country specific settings in your system . The path for the same is:
SPRO > SAP Netweaver > General Settings > Set Countries > Specify Countries in mySAP system.
Check the Decimal point format setting for both US and UK in the same. I think in your system its maintained differently and because of which you are getting the error
    Hope it helps

  • Regional settings is not effecting in SQL Server

    Hi All,
I made changes to the regional and language (made decimal = ,) of the windows server 2008 R2 Standard but the database still not accepting comma as a decimal point.
Tried restarting the SQL Server services and restarted the server without luck.
    Really appreciate inputs.
    Thanks,
    Ram.
Please don't forget to Marked as Answer if my post solved your problem and use Vote As Helpful if a post was useful. It will helpful to other users.

    1. Right click on the server name.
    2. Click on Facets.
    3. Then select Server Configuration Facet.
    4. Look for Default Language.
    5. Set it to values as given in the below link:- For Ex: 1 for German
This changes the default language for new users. (And I don't think there is a need to restart of SQL Server, but I have not checked.)
To change the default language for an existing user, use ALTER USER.
But of course, the whole talk about language setting in SQL Server in this context is completely uselss. SQL Server only knows about decimal points. This applies both to literals in the code, and when interpreting strings with CAST/CONVERT.
Everyone is correct that that regional settings does not affect SQL Server - nor should it, it is a server after all.
One more point here when i try creating a filtering functionality on application it is creating decimal as "." not "," is this issue related to application or DB?
I have no idea what you are doing, but the answer is probably the application.

  • ME13-Difference in the decimal notation in amount in conditions

    Dear All,
I get this issue in the conditions of ME13(PIR). The value in the database(KONP-KBETR) has 2 decimal places, whereas in the screen, decimal notation is not present. i.e., the value looks like being multiplied by 100. This is present only in one system. The other system shows the value as it is in the database. This is common for all users.
How can I change this? Is it some screen setting? Please help.
    Thanks,
    Sumanth

The database always stores the values with 2 decimals, but  dependend on the currency settings the SAP programs that show the values to the user (except they are using SE16)  or calculate values, or printing puchasing documents   will take care to show it in the right form.
If you develope your own programs, then you have to take care about this by yourself.

  • Java does not recognize my regional settings in xp

    Hi,
I have set my windows xp Regional Settings for canada/french but I also have resetted the decimal point to a dot ('.') instead of the defaulted comma (,). My JVM does not seem to recognize these changes as it still shows my decimals with a comma.
Is there any way to change that behavior ?
    lacou

In the past each major platform (Sun JDK, IBM JDK, Microsoft, HP, etc.) developed and maintained their own locale data, based on various input (could be ISO standards in some countries, or input from localization teams etc). Actually very difficult to create and maintain, since few countries have strict standards and users within countries disagree about what is "correct".
In recent years the Common Locale Data Repository (http://www.unicode.org/cldr/) has been established to create a common standard across platforms. ICU (http://icu.sourceforge.net/userguide/) now pulls locale data directly from the CLDR, one of the major reasons to use ICU4J.
With the work on CLDR some of the other platforms have worked on trying to align with the common standard, but there are still differences. You can find comparison charts here: http://www.unicode.org/cldr/data/charts/main/index.html

  • Error in South Africa Regional Settings in Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8

Please note that the format for numbers in South Africa regional settings is incorrect. I discovered this through on of our products that would not work on Server 2012, but works from XP to Windows 7.
Where the decimal was always a point it has now been changed to a comma, which is incorrect and most likely will cause a lot of issues for customers in south africa that use decimal data.
I can already see spatial data breaking where decimals are used and stored with points and not commas.
To reproduce this error set your regional settings to South Africa and execute the following code in C#
    System.Convert.ToDouble("10.1234");
This will throw a FormatException. Change regional settings from a , to a . and there we go it works.

It seems that this is development related issue, please try to submit a new post in DEV forum. Thanks.
    Thanks

Respectfully Mr. Xia, it looks like the OP is reporting a localization issue, not a development issue.
    For the OP, there's a
well researched post by a South African developer describing that the decimal comma is the correct choice.  The work cites University style guides, International conference agreements, and government legislation and regulation.
An excerpt from Mr. MacLean's post, quoting work from EEPublishers:
English-speaking countries (plus China, India and Japan) use the decimal point. There seems to be a general tendency to formally declare its use worldwide and the International Organisation for Standardization, ISO, also tends towards using the decimal point
over the decimal comma. In view
of the South African law, however, the comma shall still be employed in South Africa as “the only recognised decimal indicator for all numbers” [3].

  • How to convert decimal notation to comma notation

    Hi Folks,
I have an issue in converting decimal notation to comma notation for France.
I have changed the decimal notation in SU01 from 123.4 to 123,4 but when i run some custom program written by me it is extracting output as 123.4 than 123,4.
So i want to have the output of report to conver all numerical values(from decimal format to comma format) i.e., 123,4 format from the 123.4 format.
Please help me in fixing this issue
Edited by: Nishanth Kumar Reddy Chenchu on Apr 24, 2008 1:16 PM

    Hi Nishant,
U can use the statement WRITE TO. This will write the data as per the user settings. When ever user changes his settings like decimal notations then this statement will write the data as per the current settings of the user.
DATA: l_amount1 TYPE wrbtr VALUE '123.45',
              l_amount(16) TYPE c.
    WRITE:/1 l_amount1.
    WRITE l_amount1 TO l_amount.
    WRITE:/1 l_amount.
Just copy paste above code in a sample program. First execute this program and note the output. Then change the user settings for decimal notations and log of from SAP(Because user settings will become active only after fresh login). Now execute ur report and see the difference. In this way u no need to change the program when ever user changes his settings.
This thing not pnly applies for amount but also for date, time Quantity fields
    Thanks,
    Vinod

  • Configuring decimal notation  in SRM 7

    Hi ,
We are on srm 7 ECS.
How can we change the Decimal  notation to 1.234.567,89 at the SRM client level.
I know we can change it in su01 for every  user ID , but I want to change it at teh client level, so that it appears the same for all users.
    Rgds
    Sumendra

    Hi Prakash,
If you want to change the existing user decimal notation you need to modify  in SU3 t.code.
In order to control the default settings while creating SU01 user id, BASIS team can maintain Access enforcer (please check with basis guys to know more about access enforcer).
Also, Via SRM NW portal, you can personalize the settings from the following path
NW portal --> Home --> Personalization --> SRM User settings

  • Decimal Notation in SMARTFORMS to use plant default instead of user

    Hi All,
Currently, the form is printed sometimes using user decimal notation and sometimes using plant.
For new plant, the default is still 123.456,00.
However, the user one is 123,456.00.
At times, when the user tried to print invoices and etc, it will come out as 123,456.00 but at times, it comes out as 123.456,00.
The form output should be using either plant or user.
Where is the settings which can be changed?
Thanks in advance for all your help.

    Hi,
The decimal notations depend on the country settings specified in the system.
Hence, you can override the settings by using program lines in smartforms in which you can write as below.
SET COUNTRY 'US'. ( example taken as US ).
So, whichever country decimal notation you want in the display you can set it like above.
    Regards,
    Ram
