  • Unable to synchonize through Consolidator HotSync

I am trying to synchronize Oracle 8i lite database on the Palm with Oracle 8i Server through the HotSync mechanism of the Consolidator.
The Consolidator Server and Java SDK 1.3 are installed on the Windows NT machine on which the Oracle 8i Server is installed.
Consolidator Client is installed on the Windows 95 having Palm Desktop 3.0. I have registered the hotsync conduit cnshscnd.dll on this machine and have setup the Consolidator Client for hotsync on the Emulator.
When I perform HotSync, I get the following error:
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shutdown.
Clicking on the details tab shows the message:
HOTSYNC caused invalid page fault in moduele javai.dll

Sorry I'm just kind of frustrated at this point. I was on the chat with the Palm tech for over an hour,  who told me the same thing about three times over and everytime I have tried it hasn't worked.
I have tried using COM5, COM6, and COM7 each after trying many times over to create a new serial port. I have the USB, bluetooth, and Serial boxes in the hotsync connection section all checked and I have  directed the Hotsync PDA bluetooth connection towards each new COMs that I have set up. Even after doing this I am still getting the error message above. As far as I can tell I have everything setup as per the instructions provided by Palm's techs. It still gives me an error.

  • Can't find palm tungsten isync hotsync conduit in leopard

Attempting to sync my Palm Tungsten E2 with iCal & Address Book by USB but iSync can't set up when I attempt to Enable Palm Syncing. iSync Hotsync Conduit does not install and is not found on searching with Spotlight. Palm Hotsync works fine. Where is my software not configured properly?

Problem solved. I was logged into a User Account that did not have permissions to move the conduits to a new folder 'iSync Disabled Conduits'. Logging into the System Manager Account enabled this process to proceed and reverting back to the sub-account the configuring for Enable Palm Syncing process now completed.

  • Isync hotsync conduits

isync says to install isync hotsync conduit to Palm Hotsync conduit folder. How do you do that. I have the 4.2.1 palm version installed

You simply add your Palm device to iSync using the Add Palm OS Device… option. The basis Add Device… option is reserved for supported mobile handsets and Symbian OS smartphones.
As you go through that process, iSync installs the iSync Palm Conduit and deactivates conflicting Palm supplied conduits, along with the Memo Conduit and Memos Conduit. Those memo-related conduits can be reactivated manually, as they do not actually cause any conflict with the iSync Palm Conduit, which has not memo handling capability whatsoever.
In some case, under Mac OS X 10.5 and later, the installed iSync Palm Conduit is effectively inert, and must be replaced. If you do not see it using the conduit configuration dialog in the HotSync Manager or in the Palm Desktop, then write to the address in my Public Profile for a replacement conduit package.

  • Installing iSync conduit for HotSync 3.2.1

    Hello,
    I got a Powerbook G4 with OS X.4.8
I've just bought a Palm T|X with Palm OS 5.4.9.
I've dowloaded the last package Palm Desktop 4.2.1 for Mac with HotSync Manager 3.2.1
Hotsync functions well with Palm Desktop.
In iSync, I go to "Device / Active Palm OS synchronisation" but I get an error message like : "Palm Desktop isn't well installed or was never opened. Try opening it and come back in iSync". I did it but it doesn't functions.
When I look in HD / Library / Applicatioin support / Palm HotSync / Conduit, I don't see any Apple or iSync conduit.
    What can I do ?
    Thanks

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
This is a permissions problem with your Palm folders, most frequently occurring as a result of the option to archive and install Mac OS X.
Here are two methods you can use to correct the issue:
Take a look at the permissions of the folders listed below. Your permissions for the folders listed below should appear as described below the pathname to that folder:
    For the Macintosh HD:Applications:Palm folder:
    Ownership & Permissions
    You can: Read & Write
    Details
    Owner: <shortusername>
    Access: Read & Write
    Group: admin
    Access: Read & Write
    Others: Read only
For the Macintosh HD:Library:Application Support:Palm Desktop folder:
    Ownership & Permissions
    You can: Read & Write
    Details
    Owner: <shortusername>
    Access: Read & Write
    Group: admin
    Access: Read & Write
    Others: Read only
For the Macintosh HD:Library:Application Support:Palm HotSync folder:
    Ownership & Permissions
    You can: Read & Write
    Details
    Owner: <shortusername>
    Access: Read & Write
    Group: admin
    Access: Read & Write
    Others: Read only
You can either reset those values manually, [then restart and recheck them to be sure that they are set correctly] or use the Terminal application by typing these strings listed below this example—substituting your short user name—as shown below:
    sample: "sudo chown -R <shortusername>:admin /Applications/Palm"
    actual: "sudo chown -R michaellafferty:admin /Applications/Palm"
…where michaellafferty is the <shortusername> in my case. Be sure to pay attention to the spaces in each string, and the direction of the / or \ [forward and back slash] characters.
Here are the appropriate Terminal entries. Each is is shown bulleted below, but actually begins with the term sudo:
    • sudo chown -R <shortusername>:admin /Applications/Palm
[NOTE: at this point, you'll be asked to enter your login password]
    • sudo chmod -R 775 /Applications/Palm
    • sudo chown -R <shortusername>:admin /Library/Application\ Support/Palm\ HotSync/
    • sudo chmod -R 775 /Library/Application\ Support/Palm\ HotSync/
    • sudo chown -R <shortusername>:admin /Library/Application\ Support/Palm\ Desktop/
    • sudo chmod -R 775 /Library/Application\ Support/Palm\ Desktop/
Again, pay particular attention to the spaces and to the \ characters, as both are critical to the syntax of these commands. Remember to place your actual shortusername in the string where the <shortusername> placeholder is shown, as in the sample above. [Do not include the < and > characters around your actual shortusername.]

  • ZIRE 31 hotsync stuck on last step

Hello - I have a Palm Zire 31 and running Windows XP.  I downloaded the latest Palm software 6.2.2.
When I try to hotsync my desktop data to my handheld, the sync freezes on the last step.
The handheld freezes on the message "synchronizing system MIDI sounds".
The desktop freezes on the message "step 15 of 15, backing up handheld databases".
I have left the computer & handheld for over an hour but it does not complete the sync.
The only way out of the program is to hit "cancel" on the handheld and I have to hit ctrl+alt+del to close the hotsync manager on the desktop.
Please help?  I would like to get my data off my desktop and onto my handheld so I can put my data on my new computer.
Thanks in advance and have a great day
    Post relates to: Zire 31

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Support Community.
First, was your Zire 31 able to Hotsync successfully with the same computer, and what version of Palm Desktop were you running previously?  PD 6.2.2 isn't really an upgrade, it was produced by the Access company (which owns the Palm OS and Palm Desktop apps) to provide Hotsync compatibility with Vista desktops.  That said, it should also work on your XP machine with your Zire 31.
You might try a Soft Reset on the handheld.
Next, try turning off most of the Hotsync conduits in Palm Desktop, just syncing your main data apps like Calendar and Contacts, to see if that lets Hotsync run to completion.
If that doesn't work, next try to install and run a freeware utility called DbFixIt from www.pimlicosoftware.com .  Since you're having trouble Hotsyncing, you might have to get it onto your handheld by copying the .prc file onto a SD card using a card reader on your desktop, copying it into the /launcher folder on the card.  Then insert the card and run the app from the card.  It identifies corrupt records and "blobs' of data, which it will allow you to delete...the registered version also lets you repair the damaged data.  But it has rescued many a person from stalled Hotsync operations.
If you have not already done so, I also suggest you go through the Hotsync Troubleshooting support article from Palm, linked below. It covers the causes of, and the and solutions to the vast majority of Hotsync issues.

  • Outlook 2007 conduits and Windows 7

I'm attempting to sync my Palm V to Outlook 2007 before abandoning the old guy. I've had it for 10 years, it's served me perfectly well, but laptops just don't have serial ports any more and it's probably time to move on.
I've downloaded the Outlook 2007 conduits and installed them (running the exe as Administrator, just in case). It says that the installation is successful, but I see no evidence of it, and the instructions don't really tell me what to look for. I assume that I'll see something different either in the HotSync conduit list or in the options when I choose Change, but I see neither. Synching just continues to sync the Palm Desktop. The machine has been rebooted.
This is the 32-bit version of Windows 7 Ultimate, Palm Desktop 4.1.4, and Outlook 2007 from the Office Enterprise package. Any help anyone can give me would be very appreciated - losing this data would be like losing old diaries.

    Hi
You can journal your mail and have a 3rd party vendor archive your mail like symantec etc.
PST files bigger than 2GB will cause issues.
You can set an exclusion on that folder so its not scanned.

  • ISync palm conduit in 10.5 - won't work under user imported from 10.4?

My Palm m500 was syncing fine with my PowerBook G4 running Mac OS 10.4
I recently got a spiffy new MacBook Pro (Penryn) with 10.5, and although the Palm does communicate and sync via Palm Desktop, it no longer syncs via iSync with iCal & Address Book. I keep getting the following in the hotsync log:
    < snip >
    OK Install
iSync Conduit starting 3/13/08 10:38:34 PM
iSync Conduit: received NULL message, disconnecting...
    OK iSync Conduit
    </ snip >
    ==========
    Other info:
I imported the user info for my main user from the old 10.4 installation using Migration Assistant.
    • Deleted old Palm HotSync & Desktop files from the username:Library:Application Support, as palm preference files from username:Library:Preferences
    • Copied the old user folder to an alternate location, and removed the Palm folder from username:Documents:
    • Re-installed Palm Desktop 4.2.1 under main user (authorized as an "administrator" temporarily)
    • Sync worked (no data on Palm Desktop, but everything backed up ok), HotSync even recovers and creates a new user based on the data on the device, and even backs up all the programs.
    • Enabled Palm Os Syncing from within iSync (works fine, so long as the account being used has read/write permissions to HD:Library:Application Support:Palm HotSync:Conduits)
    • "Enable iSync for this palm device" from the iSync conduit within HotSync Manager.
During a sync, iSync kicks in and "connects", but can't get past AddressBook syncing, and never actually sends info to the Palm device. Presumably, this is where the "NULL message" is received and syncing stops. When I specify "Erase data on device then sync" in iSync (for first syncronization), it does indeed erase address book data on the device, but never sends anything to replace it, but also does not touch the calendar data on the palm device.
Furthermore, I tried the same procedure when logged in as another administrator account (what is normally the main administrator account on this computer), and synced first without iSync, then enabling "iSync for this Palm device". Under this other account, the syncing works. I can add events to iCal, and contacts to address book, and they are transferred sucessfully and synced with the palm device. But it still does not work when logged in as the main user (even when administrator privileges are enabled, which I normally don't want), which actually has all my iCal and Address book data (which syncs successfully through .Mac with my computer at work).
There should be plenty of free space on the device for all my calendar & contact data (3MB).
Given that syncing DOES work for one administrator user (which was never before set-up for this), but not for the user that was imported from 10.4 and was syncing successfully before, I have a suspicion that there's either some leftover files that I missed, or a permissions conflict within the user's home folder that I am missing. Has anyone else been able to resolve this issue, or have any suggestions based on this information?
    Much appreciated.

    Experimentation reveals that:
    • replacing the old addressbook data with blank allows syncing to work without problems.
    • having multiple groups causes the same error: BUT only on the first sync (set to “Erase data on device then sync”, but also if set to “merge”). Adding groups after a successful initial sync did not interfere with further syncs.
    • deleting groups from existing AddressBook data does allow a successful first sync.
    • but adding them back in again breaks the sync.
Having no groups would seem to allow a successful sync.
    see http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6805570&#6805570
I don’t want to have to limit myself to this. I do use groups rather a lot and it would be frustrating to have to give up using them just so I can sync my Palm in Leopard.
The following does NOT solve the problem:
    1. Move old Address Book data to a backup location (after exporting AddressBook library)
    2. do a first sync
    3. re-import full Address Book data from archive
    4. continue with regular syncs.
    • only sync one Group still leads to the same error.
    • iSync 2 doesn’t run under Leopard (error message along the lines of “You can’t use this software with this version of Mac OS”).
    • I also tried to use the previous iSync palm conduit (v3.0.2 instead of v3.1.0), but got the same errors.
For now, I removed all the groups and synced my contacts to my Palm, but I then turned off syncing for contacts within iSync, so I could recover all my Address Book Groups. Fortunately, I need to update Calendar information more often than contact info, and I won’t be able to change contact info on the Palm device. When I do want to do a periodic update to my Palm device, I will have to:
    1. Backup my address book
    2. Delete all groups (but not the contacts within them, which stay in the library itself)
    3. Turn contact syncing on in iSync
    4. Sync the Palm device
    5. Turn contact syncing OFF in iSync
    6. Recover my Address Book Library & groups from backup
Not as simple as I would expect from Apple software ... I hope this issue gets fixed in iSync 3 (Leopard).

  • Outlook 07 synch to Palm Treo 650 Sync Conduit produces Contacts DUPLICATES in Outlook... Help!

I downloaded the Sync Conduit from Palm, ran a synch from Treo 650 to Outlook 2007 (Vista 32) and it created duplicates for most of my CONTACTS in Outlook 07, not all but most, wierd.

Te hotsync manager does not create duplicates.
You will need to clean up the contacts database in Outlook, hard reset your Treo, set the hotsync conduits to desktop overwrites handheld and then sync.
Click on the following link to the kb.palm.com webpage for the article regarding reset procedures.
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=887
There is a 3rd party app. that will remove duplicates in Outlook.
Here is the link to the site; http://www.mapilab.com/outlook/remove_duplicates/
One thing you may not be aware of is that Palm desktop 6.2 has the Outlook 2007 conduits already installed, you do not need to install the Outlook 2007 conduit update.
You may want to remove the 2007 conduit update using control panel.
For reference purposes, click on the following link for the support page for your device on the kb.palm.com webpage.

  • ISync/Palm HotSync replaces w/old data

Hey. This may be better suited for Palm support because it doesn't really seem like an iSync issue, but I use iSync/e2sync to Sync my Palm-based phone (Samsung i500...R.I.P). I have been having an ongoing issue that if I don't sync almost daily, that if it has been, say a week or so, since my last sync, Hotsync overwrites all of my data with OLD data and reinstalls all my programs. VERY frustrating. It never did this before Tiger and DOESN'T do this on my work laptop when I Sync. At work I just use Hotsync with an Entourage Conduit for my Entourage data. This machine does NOT have Tiger installed. At home, where Tiger IS installed and where this strange overwriting is happening, I bought e2sync hoping that would mix this overwriting problem. I checked "do nothing" for "backup" in Hotsync Conduit Manager and it is still overwriting if it has been a while since my last sync. Is there ANY explanation for the overwriting?

NO, I am not using .Mac for anything.
NO, my intention is not transfer the data between the two computers using my device as a "transport device".
My intention is to have all my contacts and calendars on my device populated with information from my home and work computers. This is a problem that existed BEFORE I syncronized my device with two different computers. When I do sync and information conflicts it (iSync) warns me and asks me what to do. The overwrite problem is NOT coming from iSync it seems to be a Hotsync issue that may or may not be caused by TIger.

  • Isync and Palm conduit conflicts

I use iCal for my calendar and Address Book to maintain my contact info, but I prefer the Palm to-do list over iCal's - is it possible for me to sync this combination of applications? I was once able to do this (by moving conduits disabled by iSync back into my Palm HotSync conduits folder), but this is no longer working. The (apparently) relevant portion of my HotSync Log shows:
    Loading “Apple”
    Conduit “iSync Conduit” version 3.0.0
    Sync type is Fast
iSync Conduit starting 7/6/07 12:12:47 PM

iSync Conduit: received NULL message, disconnecting... 7/6/07 12:12:48 PM
    OK iSync Conduit
    I'm using :
    - iSync v2.4 & Mac OS X v10.4.9 on a PowerBook G4,
    - Palm Desktop v4.2.2, and
    - a Palm Treo 680
    Any advice?
    thank you!

It is actually possible to do what you want, but an an additional step is required since the release of Mac OS X 10.4.
    A quick review…
What you want to do essentially violates the unwritten 'rule of conduits' which states that you cannot simultaneously synchronize a given data type with more than one conduit. iSync will synchronize contact, event and task data only with the Address Book and iCal. In general, if you wish to synchronize such data with the Palm Desktop, you must cease using iSync and revert to the Palm Desktop.
It is possible, however, to configure your machine to synchronize contacts with the Palm Desktop and events and tasks with iCal, or—as you wish—contacts with the Address Book and events and tasks with iCal.
In order to do so, launch iSync and select your Palm device in the main window. In the drop-down pane which appears, be sure that you disable event and task synchronization by deselecting the Calendars category, but leave the Contacts category enabled. Then quit iSync, and remove the com.apple.isync.plist file from this folder:
    Macintosh HD:Users:<username>:Library:Preferences
Do not remove the co-located com.apple.isync.registry.plist file.
[Don't launch iSync again until you have completed the steps outlined below.]
Make sure that these conduits are in the active Conduits folder:
    • Calendar Conduit
    • Datebook Conduit
    • Tasks Conduit
    • ToDo Conduit
NOTE: While this has nothing to do with your issue—if you have not already done so—move the Memo Conduit and Memos Conduit back into the active folder [from which the iSync Palm Conduit installation process previously removed them] to restore memo synchronization to the Palm Desktop.
In addition, the iSync Palm Conduit should be in the active Conduits folder.
These conduits should not be, and instead should be stored in the Disabled Conduits folder:
    • Address Conduit
    • Contacts Conduit
Once these conduits are arranged in the active and disabled folders, you may launch iSync and it will synchronize your contacts with the Address Book, and your events and tasks will be synchronized with the Palm Desktop instead of with iCal.

  • Can't open iSync Palm Conduit

I'm trying to synchronize my new Palm Z22 with iCal and Address book. Michael Lafferty solved my original problem of not getting iSync. I have downloaded iSync Palm Conduit and it appears as a "pkg" and was said to be installed successfully. However, it doesn't show up as a usable program and iSync doesn't detect my Palm device.
    iMacG5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

It isn't a program - it's a conduit. The process of running the installer placed a copy of the iSync Palm Conduit—which appears simply as Apple in the Finder, or iSync Conduit in the HotSync conduit list—in your active Conduits folder.
And, your device will not show up in iSync until you add it using the HotSync Manager or the HotSync menu option of the Palm Desktop to configure it, by selecting the conduit and checking the box labeled Enable iSync for this Palm device.

  • OSX10.4.9/iSync 2.4 with Palm E2 running HotSync 3.2.1

    Hi All,
    iSync happily syncs between my Powerbook and phone;
HotSync happily syncs between Powerbook and my Palm...
but I can't get iSync to install the iSync Conduit in HotSync Manager enabling the Palm to download to iCal etc.
I've run 'Enable Palm OS Syncing' from within iSync a number of times. It seems to function OK (moves appropriate conduits within Library>Palm HotSync to a new folder called iSync Disabled Conduits for instance), but when I launch HotSync>Conduit Settings, the expected iSync HotSync Conduit isn't there! Back in Library>Palm HotSync>Conduits, there is newly installed file called Apple though it doesn't appear anywhere in HotSync Manager.
Also, the Palm E2 doesn't appear in iSync when I 'add device>scan' - I believe this is normal and it won't appear until the iSync HotSync Conduit finally appears in HotSync - is this correct?
I have previously had no problems with older iterations of iSync although I haven't used iSync1.? for a year or more - could something be left over that should have been deleted? I have done clean installs of OSX10.4.9 and the Palm OS 4.2.1 fairly recently.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
There is some confusion regarding this, largely the fault of Apple. There are three names for the iSync Palm Conduit:
    • iSync Palm Conduit [the name that most documentation refers to]
    • iSync Conduit [the name which it appears as in the HotSync Manager]
    • Apple [name of the conduit as shown in the Finder]
If the file Apple resides in your active Conduits folder but does not appear when you attempt to configure conduits using the HotSync Manager or the HotSync menu item in the Palm Desktop, it's likely a damaged file. It should appear in those dialogs as the iSync Conduit.
If you cannot get it to appear, send a message to the electronic mail address listen in my Public Profile and I will reply with a copy you can use in its place.
The iSync Add Device… option is not applicable to Palm devices. You can only get it to appear by using the Enable Palm OS Syncing… option that you've been attempting to do.

  • Moving data from old computer to new computer. where does Palm Desktop app find conduit apps?

    Please help,
I have backed up my old database files from my Palm programs off of my old computer
(The hard drive and computer were going bad, and then it died).
Question:  what directories and where do I copy the old data, so I can hotsync?
I hotsynced once, but I don't see the programs in the Hotsynce conduit screen, where
you select to handheld overwrite  desktop  or  synchronize the files.
Question: In the conduit screen, what directory does it look for the programs in?
    I have a Sony-Clie, PEG-SJ22, Palm Desktop v4.1, Hotsync Mgr 4.1.0, .
I have spend 4 days on re-installing palm software, to solve the usb hotsync issue.
I'm finally able to hotsync,  Thanks to previous postings and hours of re-installing different versions
    of the palm software.
Any help on the questions, would be appreciated.

The directory for your data will typically be c>program files>palm>[user folder, usually an abbreviated version of your Hotsync ID]
Are the missing conduits for third-party applications?  If so, you will have to track down and reinstall them...most apps which have a conduit must run an installation routine on the desktop to actually install the conduit.
