Register web dispatcher on SLD

Experts,
I'd like to register my NW7.0 web dispatcher on my SLD.  Is this considered a "third party" system?
I know how to run the "sldreg" commands to create the keyfiles, etc.  based on note
Note 1018839 - Registering in the System Landscape Directory using sldreg
So I can run
sldreg -configure slddest.cfg -usekeyfile
And I can send it to my SLD using:
saposcol -b | sldreg -connectfile slddest.cfg -oldtransferdtd
And I can see this in the "CIM" area in my SLD, but this alone does not associate it to any instance, therefore doesn't show up in SMSY after I run the job to pull in the SLD data.
Do I have to use that "example XML" file in the 3rd party SLD documentation?  I know I can't be the first person to want to do this but I cannot find any documentation specific to web dispatcher and SLD.
Thanks
NICK

Thank you both Anil and Javed!  I am trying to add the instance of web dispatcher to include in our Solman Diagnostics monitoring.  Up until this point, I have been unable.  I used SDLREG program but I could not see any thing in SMSY...
But maybe there isn't a point to this at if you don't know of others who are doing this.
at any rate, your help/comments are appreciated

  • Invalid configuration for catalog/Web dispatcher (Fiori Smart Business Cockpit)

    Hi all,
For our smart business cockpits, we have following issue in our administration (launchpad):
    Invalid configuration for catalog/Web dispatcher
    Title
SAP: KPI Catalog for SAP Smart Business
    ID
    X-SAP-REMOTE:SAP_KPIFRW_TC_R
    Remote ID
    HANA_CATALOG
    System alias
    HANA
    Base URL
    /sap/hba/apps/kpi/s/odata/hana_chip_catalog.xsodata/
    Type
    REMOTE
When I check our console client, the only error that we see is following message:
    2014-08-04 14:33:16 Base URL '/sap/hba/apps/kpi/s/odata/hana_chip_catalog.xsodata' already registered - sap.ui2.srvc.Factory
Does someone already saw this issue before? I noticed that we only have those issues on REMOTE CATALOGS.
    Thx!

Use SAP_KPIFRW_TC_R role (I think you already did).
However, to be able to access this catalog, the HANA user needs the role sap.hba.apps.kpi.s.roles::SAP_SMART_BUSINESS_RUNTIME
If the user has to model KPIs, they need sap.hba.apps.kpi.s.roles::SAP_SMART_BUSINESS_MODELER.

  • Portal 7.3 & Web Dynpro iView, both accessed from Internet via Web Dispatch

    Hi guru,
I'd like to know the best (or the correct) way to configure the FQDN and required DNS setting to allow user access ABAP Web Dynpro iview from internet.
My setup here is very typical:
One EP 7.3 in intranet, having "ep.internal.mycomp.com" as FQDN (given during installation)
One SAP ECC in intranet, having "erp.internal.mycomp.com" as SAPLOCALHOSTFULL parameter
One Web Dispatcher in DMZ, having "service.mycomp.com", and listen to 80 port (later added 8000 port for AS ABAP).
User access my portal by using http://service.mycomp.com/irj, no problem.
But problem raised during access WD4A iview, here are my problem and questions:
    [Problem]
At the beginning, we found that the WD4A iView can only be accessed in intranet, not from internet. Eventhough we register "service.mycomp.com" in public DNS. After some http level analysis, I was shock that the WD4A iview is provided directly by AS ABAP which running this WD4A, EP does not play a "relay" role. (Don't believe the URL bar in your IE, use Tamper Data or HTTP live to check the HTTP requests, you will get it). Since we DO NOT have "erp.internal.mycomp.com" in public DNS, so the iview cannot be displayed. But I DON'T want direct access to my ERP box.
I don't know a way to get rid of the "erp.mycomp.com" request generated by EP. So I tried to overcome the problem by leveraging the same Web Dispatcher used by EP. And I did make the WDisp -> ERP WD4A work using WDisp's FQDN (ie. service.mycomp.com:8000, also keep original service.mycomp.com:80 to EP), but the iview in EP does not use this FQDN. It use the SAPLOCALHOSTFULL parameter configured in backend ERP.  WDisp does not do any URL replacement for me.
    [Question 1]
Is there any way to hide WD4A iview in EP (server to server communication only)?
    [Question 2]
If I can only have "service.mycomp.com" entry in my public DNS, should I change the SAPLOCALHOSTFULL in ERP to "service.mycomp.com"?  I doubt  that it may cause a "loop" situation between WDisp and ERP ?
    [Question 3]
Is it possible to access WD4A on ERP by two different FQDNs (one for public via WDisp, the other for internal access w/o WDisp) ? I know there is only one SAPLOCALHOSTFULL configuration.
Anyone have done such integration ? please share your configuraiton. Thanks

    Hay Wei-Shang Ku,
Many thanks to your prompt reply of this very old post I tried to ask!
for the /sap/* redirect, think it required to use icm/HTTP/redirect_<xx> parametet in WDISP profile. And i did applied below too to make default WDISP URL go to /irj  (Portal login page).
    icm/HTTP/redirect_0 = PREFIX=/,TO=/irj
so for "all request to /sap/* will go to ERP":
icm/HTTP/redirect_0 = PREFIX=/sap/*,TO=/???  (how do you set the TO value here?)
May i have your WDISP profile setting for reference? Did you make use of parameter wdisp/system_0?
And here is my overall setting:
we only have "service.mycomp.com" entry in public DNS.
    1. "service.mycomp.com" is WDISP URL mapped to 1 public IP (we used default http 80 port)
    2. we want user can access JPortal & also backend ERP via WebDynpro iView in JPortal via
       service.mycomp.com  (only port only)
    3. ERP system profile:
SAPLOCALHOSTFULL = <ERPHOSTNAME>.mycomp.com (not in public DNS)
        icm/server_port_0 = PROT=HTTP,PORT=80$$,TIMEOUT=3600,PROCTIMEOUT=3600
    4. Portal:
        ABAP WebDynpro iView setting -
System  = XXX (where XXX is alias of system iView)
      System iView setting -
        Logical System Name = ERPCLNTXXX
        ITS host = <ERPHOSTNAME>.mycomp.com:8000
Thanks again your information, have headache of this issue for long times....

  • Could not connect to backend system through portal via Web Dispatcher

    Web dispatcher redirecting problem
    Dear Experts,
I have implemented a scenario which comprised of customizing that is developed in Portal EP7. What customizing does is getting report from backend system (ERP 6.0)
According to the needs for reaching the portal from internet I configured the SAP Web Dispatcher in the environment as you may see its contents below.
The problem is when I run the customizing in portal system then it requires connecting to backend system (ECC 6.0) to get the data (report). But from this point on web browser comes to a blank page, could not view the data that is from backend system via portal. Because in the time when it tries to retrieve data in backend system, on the left bottom of the explorer the indicator shows internet address that system uses connecting to the backend system as local network address of the backend system which is not known in internet therefore I get blank page.
The question is how to configure the web dispatcher in a way that both portal and backend systems could be reachable from internet?
    Contents of profile file of Web Dispatcher as;
    SAPSYSTEMNAME = WDP
    SAPGLOBALHOST = portald
    SAPSYSTEM = 02
    INSTANCE_NAME = W02
    DIR_CT_RUN = $(DIR_EXE_ROOT)\$(OS_UNICODE)\NTAMD64
    DIR_EXECUTABLE = $(DIR_CT_RUN)
    Accesssability of Message Server
    rdisp/mshost = portald
    ms/http_port = 8101
    Configuration for medium scenario
    icm/max_conn = 500
    icm/max_sockets = 1024
    icm/req_queue_len = 500
    icm/min_threads = 10
    icm/max_threads = 50
    mpi/total_size_MB = 80
    SAP Web Dispatcher Ports
    #icm/server_port_0 = PROT=HTTP,PORT=81$$
    SAP Web Dispatcher Ports
    icm/server_port_0 = PROT=HTTP,PORT=60000
    icm/HTTP/redirect_0 = PREFIX=/, TO=/irj/index.html
    icm/HTTP/redirect_0 = PORT=50000
#maximum number of concurrent connections to one server
    wdisp/HTTP/max_pooled_con = 500
    wdisp/HTTPS/max_pooled_con = 500
    Configuration for medium scenario
    icm/max_conn = 500
    icm/max_sockets = 1024
    icm/req_queue_len = 500
    icm/min_threads = 10
    icm/max_threads = 50
    mpi/total_size_MB = 80
    Regards,
    Ali Taner

    Hi,
To resovle this you must have registered FQDN for your backend system as well. When you call the report from Portal using internet it should call that FQDN of your backend system then DNS will resolve this & you will get the expected page. This way only you can resolve this issue.
    Thanks,

  • Cluster Web Dispatcher together with CI in MSCS?

I need to provide HA for Web Dispatcher by clustering in MSCS.  My plan is to share the MSCS of the CI it is connecting to.  The CI (ASCS and SCS) is already installed in cluster with all proper shared resources (disk, global share, services, ip, netname, etc.)  My question is whether I should or need to create a separate cluster group for the WD or if it would be easier/better to install in same shared disk as CI?  I have been referring to SAP Note 834184 regarding the manual install of the WD in MSCS and have run into an issue because of the global share of the CI.  Currently the WD is installed on its own shared disk (with directory structure), and its own netname and IP.  When starting it is trying to access the SAPMNT share of it's host, which is successful (as the hostnames and ip are really just virtual resources of the cluster), but the directory path it tries to access on the share is not correct because the share is really for the shared disk of the CI and not that of the WD.
Does anyone have a recommended method of clustering the WD in an existing SAP MSCS cluster?  It seems that the Note referenced above was not written with this in mind.  However, due to the very low resource needs of the WD, I think it would be fairly common to cluster it with an existing installation or the msg server it is serving.  My next thought is to install the WD on the same shared disk and cluster group as the CI and allow it to fail over with the CI so it will access the proper sapmnt file share, but I'm not sure if this is the recommended or best practice for this type of scenario.
Thank you for any input on this and I would be happy to provide any futher details of my configuration.
    thanks,
    John

    John,
First, lets clarify the confusion: CI is not where your ASCS and SCS are installed.
"The system consists of two instances: a Java central instance with SDM, and the Central Services instance"
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/43/1af03eae11e16be10000000a114084/frameset.htm
(A)SCS - "(ABAP) SAP Central Services", consists of Message Server and Enqueue Server, resides in a cluster group of MSCS
CI - "Central Instance" - Dispatcher, Server Processes and SDM. Not part of cluster group, resides on C: drive (your case).
    Now to the point:
It is absolutely OK to install your Web Dispatcher on the cluster group of your (A)SCS.
You can use shared drive as a location for the Web Dispatcher and PFL file.
In this case you do not need to do step "6. Register the SAP Events DLL in registry" from note 834184.
During the failover, Web Dispatcher comes up properly on the target node.
Let me know if you need step by step instructions.
I can send you screenshots for the install.

    Slava

  • Using existing SSL Certificate for Web Dispatcher

    Hi,
We've registered a SSL certificate with wildcard option via GlobalSign. The history of this process is as below:
    1. We created a Certificate Request with IIS and send it to GS (GlobalSign).
    2. They send us the certificate file Globalsign Primary Secure Server CA and Globalsign Server Sign CA files.
    3. Import all ceritifcates into IIS and then exported the certificate into a Cert.pfx file.
    4. By using this file, we are able to import the SSL certificate into J2EE WAS 640  of Portal system.
    5. Now we want to use same certificate to establish a web dispatcher installation as intermediate server for internet access.
Web Dispatcher documentations says to create a pse and req file with sapgenpse program and then send it to CA (here globalsign) to get a certificate.
But when we asked GS, they told us to use the certificate they send us before. They cannot create a certificate file for the ourput of web dispatcher. It will be billed us if we persist.
So, we have to find a way to use the existing certificate to enable SSL of Web Dispatcher.
    Any idea?

    Hi Huseyin,
I also have the same scenario. We also want to use the same certificate from verisign for our webdispatcher.
Do you know how to do. Can you help me.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sailesh K

  • CRM_UI Reporting - HTTPS Terminating at Web Dispatcher or SSL all the way

    Hi,
We need to set up access to crm_ui reports (leads and marketing mainly) in CRM 7.0 for vendors coming from the internet. The CRM server is in the internal network. In order for this to work I plan to setup the web-dispatcher in the application dmz. The initial login is going to be via  the web dmz layer (using sun's iplanet server), which then routes the crm URL to the web dispatcher in the App dmz and then from the web dispatcher to CRM server.
One requirement from our security team is to set up the flow as HTTPS.
On going through SAP help I get the impression that it can be set up two ways, one, configuring web dispatcher to pass the SSL connection to backend, & two - configuring the web dispatcher to terminate SSL.
Seems the former is quite straight forward (from SAP online help we have to set the icm/server_port_<xx>> = PROT=ROUTER) but does it also require that we setup the crm_ui_frame service as SSL and activate the HTTPS service in ICM?
Or is it better to go via the second option (HTTPS termination) without changing the backend setup? SAP Online help lists steps to do the HTTPS termination but I have not come across any detailed documentation for the first method.
Any thoughts, suggestions will be helpful for either scenario.
    Thanks,
    Rommel Bhan

    Thanks Martin the document helped.
Now the web dispatcher seems to talk to the HTTPS port on the backend.
However there is one issue I see in the dev_webdisp and was wondering if you have an insight.
Based on webdispatcher parameters, its taling to ms_https_port 8533 of backend

  • How to use Web Dispatcher in XI

XI receives some messages and passes them onto CRM for processing. The user ID that is used between XI & CRM communication of  “Service” user type.Due to this reason, this user has consumed the dialog processes available during the process. The error seems to indicate that the load was too heavy and that the system ran out of memory blocks reserved for XI to CRM communication.  There are 2 application servers for CRM, in addition to the central instance. We can use the web-dispatcher in XI (instead of a particular Application instance).
Web dispatcher will then assign the message to the available application instance.
The question is How do we Use Web Dispatcher in XI with respect to this scenario??
Can anybody put light on this issue.

  • Web Dispatcher Not forwading XML document to SAP XI

    Hi Everyone,

    Hi
Did you  check the connectivity i.e web  dispatcher with any other system(LandScape).
    For example CRM for FICO.
    Thanks

  • WebAS access via Portal: Web Dispatcher required for load balancing ABAP

    Hi Folks -
We have EP 6.0 SP18 (Java only, WebAS 6.40, Unix/Solaris).  The portal has a CI/SCS and one DI so we have a Web Dispatcher to load balance the portal servers. This works fine (and provides port 80 access).
This portal will provide access to HTTP services from an ABAP WebAS (6.20 with 6.40 kernel, Unix/Solaris). A landscape configuration entry has been added to the portal for this ABAP system. The ABAP system has a CI and multiple app servers, all capable of handling HTTP requests.  This will also require port 80 access.
    1. Will we need an additional Web Dispatcher to load balance HTTP requests to the 'backend' ABAP WebAS system, or will the portal be smart enough to handle the load balancing itself (perhaps based on the information in the landscape configuration)?
    2. If the portal itself handles the HTTP load balancing can you point me to documentation (so I can make sure I have proper configuration)?
    3. Are there any changes to this with NW2004s Portal (we plan to upgrade soon)?
    Thanks in advance!  Jeff

    Jeff,
    Regarding:
Q1. If you create a system object from the "SAP system with load balancing" template in portal and configure the object to point to your CI (msg server), the LB should be handled.
Q2. Portal load balancing is handled by the message server.  If you point a test URL to the port of your message server, you will notice that you are issued a redirect the URL of your dialog instance.  The web dispatcher is just a proxy (with some intelligence).  When a request is made to the WD, it makes a connection to the MSG server, the list of active instances is queried, a redirect is made to that instanct.  If you use WD, that connection can be proxied behind a standard URL.   If you connect directly to the MSG Server instead, you will notice your URL change, just as it does on the service marketplace.
WDs are good for providing services, masked (proxied) behind virtual names.  If you do not want the customer to see a physical URL of the server, use the WD.  There are lots of other solutions that can do this too though such as Apache, ISA, Juniper devices, Cisco LDs.  WDs have a very low performance threshold though, especially if you use SSL. WD is a performance bottleneck and should be benchmarked to see if it is right for your application.
Q3. No changes this architecture in 04s.

    Hi,
Connection test for the following succeeded:
    1. SAP Web AS Connection
      Test Details:
The test consists of the following steps:
    1. Checks the validity of system ID in the system object.
    2. Checks if the system can be retrieved from the PCD.
    3. Check whether a SAP system is defined in the system object
    4. Validate the following parameters: WAS protocol; WAS host name
    5. Checks if the host name of the server can be resolved.
    6. Pings the WAS ping service; works only if the service is activated on the ABAP WAS.
    7. Checks HTTP/S connectivity to the defined back-end application
      Results
    1. The system ID is valid
    2. The system was retrieved.
    3. The system object represents an SAP system
    4. The following parameters are valid: Web AS Protocol (http) Web AS Host Name (mtw02spwp02:80)
    5. The host name mtw02spwp02 was resolved successfully.

  • SAP Web Dispatcher Configuration in a FPN

    Hi all,
We are using SAP Web Dispatcher 720 (latest patch 85).
We are having a FPN network. One consumer portal, with  more than 5 producer portal (ECC JAVA, BW JAVA..etc) and more than 5 different backends (ECC, BW, SRM..etc)
We are using SSL termination at the web dispatcher.
We have configured all our consumer, producer, backends in  our web dispatcher instance,  to use the domain name with different ports.
    Eg :
https://domainname.com - refers to our consumer portal
https://domainname.com:7110 - refers to our producer portal 1
https://domainname.com:7111 - refers to our producer portal 2
https://domainname.com:6100 - refers to our ABAP backend system 1
https://domainname.com:6111 - refers to our ABAP backend system 2 ..etc..,
by configuring so, we are facing lots of page not found issue intermittenly, as SAPlb cookies are passed incorrectly, since all refers to the same domain name (it ignores the different ports).
Can someone helps us to narrate how to configure web dispatcher which suites our  FPN network. We can't go for different URLs for each system, as it requires more than 16 URLs and 16 web dispatcher instances.
    Can someone share their experience
    Thanks & Regards
    Senthil

    'sapwebdisp'.
You can let sapwebdisp create a sapwebdisp.pfl on your
    behalf with option '-bootstrap'.
You will see the password for user 'icmadm'.
    and this line
    "icm/HTTP/admin_0 = PREFIX=/sap/wdisp/admin,DOCROOT=./admin"
    Then you use URL
    'http://sapwedisphost:<xxxx>/sap/wdisp/admin/default.html'
    See this documentation in
    'http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/b4/9aa8862e714e6db8e74e48e5d3283b/frameset.htm'
    (specially topic "Monitoring ..."
    Kind Regards,
    Toni
