Registering 4S to an existing iTunes account

I've just upgraded from a 3GS to a 4S and need some advice on registering the phone on my existing iTunes account.
Do I select 'new phone' or 'back-up' and what is the significance of either option. Same network provider and telephone number. Yes complete technophobe here and I panic when iTunes give me options that confuse me lol. TY

You can do either ... it you restore it from the back-up of your 3GS (which is what I did) it will install everything as it was on your 3GS (media, folders, settings) - although sometimes a few things don't come through correctly, so it's worth checking your phone to make sure everything came over. If you select new phone, it will still be registered with your iTunes account, but you'll have to select apps, media, settings, etc. I would go with using the back-up.

  • How to register new iphone on exisitng itunes account

I replaced my old iphone with a new iphone and cannot register it with my existing itunes account.  I discovered this when I noticed that my calendars weren't syncing.  Do I need to open a new itunes account or can I change the device/iphone in my exisitng itunes account?  Usually I can figure these things out, Apple is pretty intuitive, however, I am stumped on this one!

You can add your products to your Apple Support Profile here:
    https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do
then Apple will have a record of what products you own for support purposes.

  • How do I convert my existing iTunes account to a .mac account?

I am trying to convert my existing iTunes account which uses an Earthlink address. The following is the INSTRUCTIONS from the Apple web site on how to do this.
"I just signed up for .Mac. How do I convert my existing iTunes account to
    my new .Mac account?
We'll be happy to convert your account for you. Please provide your old account name, your new .Mac account name and your billing address in your email. We will also need your explicit permission to reset your password to complete the conversion."
This is the URL where I found those INSTRUCTIONS:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/musicstore/email/
    I FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS ABOVE!
I am now on my fifth exchange of emails with iTunes support.
HAS ANYBODY SUCCESSFULLY EXECUTED THESE INSTRUCTIONS? I don't want to lose the ability to play my existing purchased music, but I want to close down Earthlink as my ISP.

On any page in the iTunes Store, click the flag icon at the lower right.  This brings up a page saying "Choose your country or region."  Click Canada.
Before you can buy anything, you will need to enter your Canadian credit card.

  • I have just brought 2 mini's for my boys for xmas.  1. can I connect them both to my existing Itunes account or do I need to set up something different. and 2. can they be used on their dads account as well as mine, or only one?

I have just brought 2 mini's for my boys for xmas.  1. can I connect them both to my existing Itunes account or do I need to set up something different. and 2. can they be used on their dads account as well as mine, or only one?

You can set them up with your Apple ID if you want to. You can also set them up with their dad's Apple ID. Depending on how old the boys are, you can even let then have their own Apple ID's. The one thing that you don't want to do is have them use more than one Apple ID on their iPads.
If you want to be able to share purchased content, then setting them up with either your ID or your husband's (?) ID would be the way to go. If the boys share an ID with one of you, they can download content that you have already purchased without having to pay for it again.
If you and have the financial wherewithal to allow them to purchase their own individual content, I would recommend letting them have their own Apple ID. This way, as they grow older and eventually move on, they will have their own accounts, their own purchases .... No ties needed to your ID or to dad's ID. FaceTime and Messages will be a little easier to set up if they have their own ID's and they can have their own iCloud accounts as well. However, they must be 13 years old in order to have an Apple ID and iTunes account. If they are under 13, then it's a no brainer you will have to use yours or their father's ID.
Whatever you decide to do, just don't switch from one ID to another ID on the iPads. That gets confusing and they could end up locking themselves out of one of the ID's for 90 days if they download a past purchase using a different ID.

You can't. All you can do is stop using it. Anything you have purchased using the old Apple ID is permanently connected to it and cannot be updated or re-downloaded when using the new Apple ID.

  • TS3212 I'm trying to download my existing iTunes account onto my new computer. Whenever I push download nothing works. It thanks me for downloading and then nothing happens. There is no pop-up control in the tool bar. Help???

I'm trying to download my existing iTunes account onto my new computer. For one, every time I try and download it it takes a second and then says "thank you for downloading iTunes!" and after that there's nothing, no results, no download. I read the instructions, and I looked on my toolbar. There appears to be no pop-up control and I can't find anything relating to it. I have Windows 8, in case that makes a difference. This shouldn't be a problem, but it is, so....HELP???!

  • Downloading music from existing iTunes account to new iPhone

I hope someone can help me with this:
I have an existing iTunes account, linked to my iPod, and I recently purchased an album via my iTunes account (on my computer) which I then planned to download to my new iPhone. This is where the problems / questions start -
How can I download this album to my iPhone?
How can I use one iTunes account (share) with two Apple products (iPod & iPhone)

You can sync as many devices as you want to the same itunes library, there is no limit. You can decided what content you want on each device & itunes will keep everything straight, by device, on subsequent syncs.

  • Updating existing itunes account billing method none

How do I update an "existing iTunes account" (i.e. from the original iTools and Bondi Blue iMac) to reflect the "Billing Method" as "NONE"?
It's the kids account and I will allow them to "go crazy" with FREE applications but, can not find out how to remove the credit card information.
Yes, I know you can create a NEW iTune/MobileMe/App Store account but, I don't want to burden Apple or myself much less have the kids change their name, etc.
    Suggestions?

Unbelievable crappy Apple support over two weeks via multiple e-mails.
The resolution came within a patient 20 minute phone call to the "top tier software engineer" for the iTunes Store!

  • I want to sync my iPhone to another computer using an existing iTunes account but the compuer is not recognizing my phone. What the problems? Can I sync the phone?

I am attempting to sync my iPhone to an existing iTunes account using a new computer but the info will not pull up or transfer. What am I doing wrong is this possible to do?

There is no way to stop iTunes from doing exactly what it is designed to do.
The iPhone is designed to sync with one and only one computer.
If you have moved/copied your iTunes library from your old computer to your new one, then iTunes wiping your device is no problem.  You would simply sync and iTunes will put all the content back.

  • Trying to erase settings from my old iphone but when I have to enter my itunes ID password the old email address is displayed.  How can I change this to my existing itunes account so I can reset this phone?  Thank you.

Trying to erase settings from my old iphone but when I have to enter my itunes ID password the old email address is displayed.  How can I change this to my existing itunes account so I can reset this phone?  Thanks in advance.

I know it sounds weird, and that is the reason I posted my question.  Because my case is not like all the ones I've found online and it's confusing.  I added a screen capture of my itunes with my old iphone (the one that houses my playlists) connected to it.
My playlists "ARE"  in my iphone 4s.  They are still there even though they do not show up when I plug in to itunes in my computer.
When connecting my phone to itunes on my macbook, the playlists do not appear anywhere in itunes.  I have found my connected iphone icon, I have clicked on the arrow next to it and it does pull up the standard lists that come with the iphone/itunes:  Music, Movies, TV shows, books.  That's it! below that is "Genius" and below "Geniuns" is "PLAYLISTS"  but the only playlist of mine that shows there is one that I created several years back titled "90's music" and that one I created it on my computer, not my phone.  Under "90's music" there are also other standard playlists that itunes automatically adds.
Does anyone else have this issue or know how to get around this.  I am starting to think that I am going to have to recreate these lists on my computer
