Registering CS3

Hi,
About two months ago I purchased Adobe CS3 with my student discount when I bought an iMac.
I emailed all my student information and they gave me the serial number to activate it, which I did, and I filled out the form to register it. But I never got anything back to confirm if it has been registered. Am I supposed to? How do I know if it is registered for sure? And do I have to fill out the registration form for each software? or if I do one, it registers all that I have?

Okay, I called them and I'm really upset... I filled out the registration form at least 10 times and tried using my other email. It always says the registration was successful and that I should be getting something in the mail shortly, but I haven't! Never! Neither e-mails! I bought it at the end of july, I don't want my three months trial(?) to expire when I paid for the software! I called Adobe, the guy said that my email wasn't on some list but my serial number is valid. Why won't it register?! What do I do?!?! I'm REALLY upset about this!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't want to have paid 500 dollars for a three month trial!! This is NOT FAIR!

  • Can't register CS3 on new laptop

    I have have my laptop die. The ld desktop expired last year and I called Adobe to get them to reset whatever it is that keeps me from installing again and they said they did. I never got around to installing on the new tower since I used the laptop more. Now the laptop is dead. So I buy a shiny new laptop and install CS3 on it and lo and behold... CS3 will not register. Made a post that got a reply telling me to use some cleaner program. I am installing a fresh install on a new laptop. I had no issues installing Office, but CS3 not so much. I have about decided Adobe doesn't care once they have your cash. If I was installing the latest and greatest I bet I could get help, but I don't need it. I'm retired and just need it for a few things. My wife is still using PageMaker and it does all she wants so she doesn't upgrade. I don't' want or need the state of the art, I just want CS3 to work on my new windows 7 laptop. Yes you can still buy a laptop with a decent OS if you shop at Costco. You just can't get your CS3 to work on it. I guess the reply will be that I have to pay for support to use my software. Can you tell I'm frustrated?

    You should not have to register CS3 if you have already registered it in the past.  If you mean you are not able to activate it then that might be something you can get help with.  You will have to contact Adobe Support using chat to get help with activation.

  • Cannot register CS3

    I am trying to register my version of Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium but have been unsuccessful. It will operate and can be used just fine but I am having trouble registering it, and I was warned by the program that if I do not register and activate it within 30 days it will discontinue to work. It was on a previous computer but I deactivated it on that computer, I did not just uninstall it.
    On my new Mac Mini running OS X 10.8.3  I install and then open Photoshop and then I select  “Registration...” under Help on the menu bar. This then displays the message:
    Registration – Connection Failure
    We were unable to connect to Adobe to Register your product.
    To proceed with Registration please check the following:
    1. Make sure you've connected to the Internet.
    2. Make sure JavaScript is enabled in your browser settings.
    3. Click the Register Now button.
    I then make sure that I am connected to the internet by trying to go to your website and I can. I make sure JavaScript is enabled by opening the internet browser that the computer came with, Safari, and then I went to the security tab under preferences and ensured that “Enable JavaScript” under web preferences was checked. I then clicked on Register Now and I got a new window that says:
    Registration – Connection Failure
    We were unable to connect to Adobe to Register your product.
    Please make sure you're connected to the Internet and have Javascript enabled in your browser.
    If you are unable to connect at this time, click the Register Later button.
    If I click on Register Now the same window reappears indefinitely.

    CS3 registration is long offline. You will have to add it manually via the web site under "My Products", if you haven't already registered it in the past.

  • Trying to install CS3 Premium

    I am buying CS3 Premium. The person who is selling it to me has done the licence transfer, although I've been waiting 3 weeks for an email about this and it hasn't arrived (from Adobe).
    So, I thought I'd try it anyway. He's selling me his complete upgrade sequence, PS5.5, CS2 Premium and CS3 Premium, so I can follow the same path he did. Yes, he's de-activated and uninstalled everything.
    He also sent me the list of his registered applications, a screenshot from his account. It shows he had PS5.5 and CS2 Premium registered - looks like he didn't register CS3 Premium.
    So, I installed CS3 - no luck. Right at the end of the process I was asked for the CS3 sn, fine, that works. Then I'm asked for a qualifying sn, fine, the CS2 sn was accepted. Then I was asked to enter a 2nd qualifying sn, for CS2 upgrade. All I've got is the upgrade version, which was accepted as full version, but not as an upgrade. Don't have another serial number, not offered any more choices.  Even though I have PSCS2 standalone entirely legally installed (registered under my business account). Oh, and PS7, if it matters. Also totally legal.
    OK, uninstall CS3 (properly) and start again.
    Install CS2. All goes well. It installs, using the sn from PS5.5 as well. I register it, I activate it.
    So - the transfer must be OK and legit, or I couldn't have registered it, right? Because it WAS registered to the bloke who's selling it to me. I have proof. And I have just registered it. Yes, using the correct email address.
    Try again to install CS3, without uninstalling CS2.
    CS3 serial number accepted.
    BUT now I need the sn for CS2.3 Premium to continue. Not CS2. That one is rejected. Has to be CS2.3.
    So, I go to open a question in support - but I can only ask a question about my registered products - which allegedly do not include CS2!!!!!
    Before I enter telephone hell, can anyone spot a flaw in all this?

    So, I uninstalled CS3 while waiting for my issue to be resolved, trying to stop the clock since it was running as a trial. Did it via Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers > CS3 Uninstaller. (Mac 10.4.11).
    Right at the end I came back and saw a screen saying it was done and stupidly hit 'Finish' before reading the small print that I think was about this:
    I still have an InDesign CS3 folder (looks like a generic folder), with an unknown document inside, called InDesign CS3 but it's not, and a fonts folder containing a file called AdobeFnt11.lst, which opens as an empty document.
    Can I just bin these? The uninstaller has disappeared now so I can't have another look.

  • Cs3 - How do I deactivate one license from a distant inactive computer?

    System configuration
    (1) Registered cs3 for mac with serial numbers with me
    (2) Mac G5 inactive with one cs3 license and original disks in a distant location
    (3) MacBook active with a 2nd license with me
    (4) MacBookPro
    I migrated the cs3 from (3) to (4). How do I deactivate the license (2) to activate it on (4)?

    Contact support to reset activations. And forget about 3) and 4). You need to install your software properly, not migrate it.

  • Iphone image - png cannot open in CS3

    I have a few images and they are from an iphone and in the .png format. I tried to open them in my registered cs3 photoshop but an error comes up (which is ridiculous by the way)
    Anyone with a solution?

    Did you use the camera app to take the photos or an third-party app. I just ran into the same issue this weekend. When I was using Facebook, I took some photos within the app and they showed up as .png. When I used Apple's camera app, they were .jpgs. Curiouser and Curiouser.

  • CS3 upgrade wont accept older serial number in stage 2  :(

    Hi folks,
    I have been happily using Photoshop CS for years and then got a retina with Mavericks...
    So I had to up the ante but since I couldn't afford CC or CS5+ I got myself CS3 on eBay.  Now- it was sold as "full retail" but turns out is only an upgrade but with serial number et al.  No HUGE problem as I did have my Photoshop CS serial number and unboxed disk still.  Or so I thought.
    But it works fine to install and even to trial, but when I get to the point of my CS serial number to "upgrade" from it doesn't like my CS serial number.  Meaning- I cannot upgrade!
    What could the matter be?  My CS serial number is fine and it does work fine on my older Mac running CS still, just not on either Mac (both the retina and the older Mac which I tested just to rule out the retina not acknowledging CS) to upgrade to CS3.
    Also-  I would like to register CS3 even though it is only an upgrade but it is already registered.  IS there provision for owners of preowned Photoshops?  I do have the bonafide disk, complete with workshop and box etc.

    I just got my transcript from the chat where I am told I cannot be helped with my issue with the CS3 upgrade because I haven't been able to register the serial/licence to myself and where I signed off after apologising to the operative for wasting their time only to find that they had tagged this mysterious bit at the end, after I closed the window:
    *bleep* :But in case of the upgrade cs3 serial number , sometimes there are trouble to unlock it .
    *bleep* :so we need to unlock the serial number in the different way.
    Obviously I cannot now ask what on earth that means. 
    Wee Moan Alert:  I am so stressed by this as the whole reason for this is that my beloved MacBook Pro died on me just ten days after having been "repaired" by the local Apple "mechanic" and they suspect that this time it is the motherboard or logic board which made it uneconomical to repair and I had to stump out for a new retina which can only run Mavericks and Mavericks requires CS3 upward, has no Super Drive and "outdated" any of my non-native software so that this has been EXCEEDINGLY expensive.
    I didn't WANT to upgrade CS (I like it-  it is familiar and NEVER let me down) but had to so thought that at least buying a bonafide second-hand (full retail) version would be the best of both worlds-  genuine (I like genuine and have more ancient boxed software than is sane) AND not going to break me financially (blood and stones, blood and stones!). /end moan

  • Trouble installing CS3

    After installing CS3 on a new Win7 Pro x64 laptop I am getting an error saying "6 failed components" (I have made sure to use the adobepdf.dll_64 file when prompted.)  We have installed CS3 on other Win7 x64 laptops previously w/no problem.  Upon trying to launch Acrobat 8 Pro I get the error "Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot be launched at this time. You must launch at least one other suite component (such as Adobe Photoshop) before launching Acrobat 8 Professional."  However Photoshop is one of the components that did NOT install so I am unable to launch it, and when launching any other component I either get the same error or a message saying that the component is no longer in service, so I have no way to register CS3.  I have followed the instructions in kb400590 to no avail.

    You will probably find that CS3 is not compatible with Win7, 64-bit. There have only been 2 reports of folks with AA8 being successful with the 64-bit system. Most have had a 32-bit system and even that has problems. At this point, your only solution is to probably upgrade. However, at this time I think that the newest CS edition still comes with AA X (that can not be upgraded to AA XI separately). If there is a way to install the items in a 32-bit mode, then you might be successful. I am pretty sure the parts of CS are 32-bit packages and a compatibility mode may be required. I do not run a 64-bit system and am only guessing.

  • Photoshop CS3 (Education) vs Commercial use

    Hi everybody,
    I bought on ebay a used but never registered version of CS3 marked on the box as "Windows | Education". My understanding was that I was buying a full retail version of CS3 for commercial use as the auction stated that this is a full, never registered CS3, without mentioning it's a Education version.
    I'm not a student. So my question to you is whether I still can use this version for commercial use and what are the exact restrictions on that license? Also is it possible to upgrade such a version in the future to a commercial one or a newer CS4, etc?
    Or should I just force the seller to give me my money back?

    Legally, you can't buy it. The person who sold it can't sell it and
    therefore you can't use it.

  • Is there an actaul person with an email I can contact with a complaint?

    I just spent a FRUSTRATING 90 minutes on the website and "Customer Support" chat that went nowhere.
    I am working remotely using an old WIN XP machine, and I need to refresh Premiere Pro. I figured I'd download the package and re-install, since the install disks (and S/N) are 1500 miles away. But the S/N isn't listed in my account. My situation: in 2008 I purchased (box version) and registered CS3. Since that time, between the changes at Adobe and my email, all I have is the confirmation note from Adobe that I registered. I don't think they even emailed serial numbers back then. I own CS6, but Premiere Pro needs a 64 bit O/S, so I'm stuck.
    Customer "Support" was pretty worthless: after I typed in concise details of my problem, I was told "the product is not in your account".  After that, I was told that if I provided the serial number, I could be helped. You know, if you can't get qualified people, why bother? (chat transcript below).
    The website said "Contact Adobe" if a S/N was missing or not in my account. But there's no way to contact Adobe.The website goes in circles, and there are no email addresses. I don't have the hours to spend on a phone call to go through what I did with chat.
    So. How can I get the ear of someone who could help me, or at least address this problem? I'm sure I'm not the first person this has happened to.

    The only email I have ever comes across for complaints would be [email protected] (it is not mis-spelled).  I don't know if it is still of use.
    Chat is going to be your only option for getting help, and you shouldn't be surprised if they don't offer help due to your product no longer being supported (sad but true).
    If you had not mentioned that you have an email confirming you registered (double-check that) I would have told you that you probably did not purchase thru Adobe and never registered it so they have no record of you owning it.  They do not email serial numbers for disc purchases - they are provided with the discs as you were told in chat.

    Just to clarify - the complete special offer is available to customers with a registered CS3-CS6 individual product or Suite.  However, education or volume licenses do not qualify.

  • Installed on new mac & wont work

    I installed cs3 creative suite on my new mac.  Photoshop opens but I get an error messagel that it can't connect to Adobe... so the program thinks it isn't registered...but it is.
    I really need this resolved quickly!!!!!!!

    Are you trying to Register cs3 (optional and not required) or Activate cs3 (required)?

  • CS 3 upgrade

    I have Web Premium CS3. I can find no option to upgrade. There only seems to be an option to upgrade from CS5. Is this correct? Adobe is only supporting upgrades from 1 version back?

    Well, I didn't know that there was a deadline for upgrading to CS6. I would have thought that Adobe would have emailed all their "registered" CS3 and CS4 customers and warned them of the deadline.  I may have been out of the country for the last two years but I still have an email account and am a registered user.
    Actually,  I have not been impressed with Adobes concern for their customers since they bought their way to being the only major player in the desktop publishing market.
    You speculate that Adobe wants (is trying to force?) everyone to join the Creative Cloud and pay a monthly fee.  I'm sure they are given the profit potential of that bussiness model.
    I cetainly cannot speak for anyone but myself, but I have no intention on "renting" software, particularly not in the current model.
    As far as the upgrade, I have no intention in paying the full price for a piece of software that I have upgraded 5 times since version 3.  I think I have paid enough.
    I guess it's time to find another solution to my photograhpic editing and web development needs.
    Adobe should remember that one of the reasons that In Design became so popular after the farce of Pagemaker was that Quark Express had such disregard for their customers that they jumped at a decent competing solution.
    Whatever, I think I'm done with Adobe.

    My working place need to change new mac pro and reinstall cs4 product which is upgraded from cs3.3 via free upgrade campaign in 2008. but I can find registered cs3.3 licence key in past record only. If I reinstall cs4 which downloaded from online resources, what should I do?

    You will need to find the serial number for the older version in order to install.  If you registered the software when you originally installed it then your serial number should be available thru your Adobe account online.
    Find your serial number quickly
    If you remain unable to obtain it then you will need to see if you can gain the assistance of Adobe Support directly using chat.
