  • Discoverer Report opened from Portal does not show correct data

    Hi,
When I try to open a Discoverer report from a portal that I created, it shows stale data but when I click on "Analyze", it shows all the data correctly.
Does anyone know what the reason could be for this?
    Thank you,
    Santoshi

I assume you used the Discoverer Portlet Provider. A discoverer portlet is never live data. When you define the portlet you specify how often to 'refresh' the data. If you skipped this step, then you just get the data as-of when you created the portlet.
Generally you specify the refresh time to be sometime after your usual database load completes.

You'll have to wait for the next release for Discoverer integration.

  • Discoverer reports through 9iAS Portal

When trying to create a list of workbooks, I get the following error message:

I've checked permissions on Portal and Discoverer, but nothing there. My iAS administrator does not know what this means either. Please help!

Did you find any other solution other than giving admin rights to the user?

    Hi,
I am trying to run disco reports into oracle portal using discoverer portlet providers -list of worksheet. What I want to achieve is as follows
    1) login to portal using SSO userid /pwd - Done
    2) Enable discoverer for SSO - Done
*3) Use discoverer list of worksheets to show reports into portal but want to filter the list of worksheet to currently logged in portal user. This so that users looged in only sees the reports to which they have access in discoverer - Need Help*
*4) Once user runs this report then I want to filter the discoverer data based on users login or portal group - Help*
Can someone please help with issue no 3/4 urgently.

    Hi Michael,
Assuming I have created the private connections using CAPI I still have my doubts as follows
Do I have to then login as each portal user and add the list of worksheet portlet for each user and selecting
"check the box called Display a different list of worksheets by allowing users to customize database connection and then check Show a default list of worksheets using connection, changing the connection to user's connection."
Considering we have 500+ users this will be huge cumbersom task for me.
Also when I tried to do this before loggin as each portal user when I logged in as second portal user I could see the list of worksheet portalet added by the first user which means I have to edit it but even that was not possible because it would not let me edit as only the page own whi created the portlet was allowed to edit (that is the first user)
    OR
Do you have to give portal user permission to edit the page so that they can log on themselve to add the list of worksheet portlet on the page by selecting their private connection and selecting
"check the box called Display a different list of worksheets by allowing users to customize database connection and then check Show a default list of worksheets using connection, changing the connection to user's connection."
Finally I know someone has made it work using URL links and it works as follows
    1) Map the portal and disco user into a table
    2) Create disco private connections
    3) when portal user loggs in and click on "Show my discoverer report" it then runs a PL/SQL package which in turn identifies the private connection details and creates a URL out of it as follows
    [http://portal.ccm.ac.uk/discoverer/app/partialConnect?password=IRTIMUDV123_=qplus=VDUMITRI=browser_selected=connect=RELATIONAL=QPRIS=viewer]
clicking on this link open discoverer with private list of workbook/worksheet.
Please advise which way should I follow.
    Thanks

  • Discoverer Report Registation

    Hi
i am working for the discoverer reports for the first time it is good to
working on it but i dont know how to register them to oracle applications
and how to run from the front end?
can any body help me out of these...?
    Krishna.V

    Hi,
I think, we need not to register the Discoverer reports in Apps.
Once we save the report in the database, we should share it to the proper responsibilities. It can be then accessed thru web-based tools like Discoverer Plus/ Viewer by any user having the proper responsibility.
Do you still need to combine this with Oracle Apps?

  • Discoverer reports in portlet

    Hi All!
Will anyone help me to solve the following problem?
There are several Discoverer reports based on database records. It's necessary to put them in a single portlet. I've tried to create a portlet provider and URL portlet, but there is the requirement to identify the parameter names the Discoverer form accepts in provider.xml file. Actually there is a large number of them, and I just can't imagine the whole set of them, so it looks like a problem.
Are there any other ways to put these reports in portlet?
    Thanks in advance.

i have the same problem, i need to put the discoverer report in portlet, how i can do this?

    Hi All,
We are also having similiar type of error in our portal.
    com.sap.engine.services.prtbridge##com.sap.engine.services.prtbridge

The cluster server element 125898350 is not added in the EP cluster context,
because prtbridge on 125898350 is stopped  or not yet started
(maybe the server is starting or shuting down).
We have implemented the FPN using RRA.
This error comes only for few users when they navigate in Portal. After clearing the cache, it works for all. Kindly help us to resolve this issue.

  • Launching discoverer reports from portal, limitation..

Hi, I have already discussed this matter via a metalink SR to find that portal cannot launch a discoverer report using discoverer plus, but I have also been referred here by the metalink people so 'product management' can clarify whether the functionality we are seeking is never going to be implemented or if it may be in planning for the near future.
Specifically, the users want to be able to launch the discoverer reports in discoverer plus, through a portal application accessed on their browsers. (instead of discoverer viewer).
    Thanks

Actually there is, we just had to work the metalink guys a bit harder. We found this in the Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Configuration
    Guide.pdf (as found at http://download.oracle.com/docs/pdf/B13918_03.pdf)
    Page 212 of 304:
13.5.3 Example 3: Starting Discoverer Plus
To start Discoverer Plus, connect automatically as jchan to the Sales EUL, open
a worksheet called January Analysis in a workbook called Monthly nalysis, you
    might use the following URL:
    http://<host.domain>:<port>/discoverer/plus?cn=cf_a156&opendbid=MONTHLY_
    ANALYSIS&sheetid=179
So as the documentation claimed it to be a feature, we saught further help as the link structure above didn't quite work for us.
It was assigned to development and a patch was released: Patch# 5403717
    Info:
Use a new URL parameter 'workbooksource' after the patch has
    been applied.
    URL Guide:
    http://<server>:<port>/discoverer/plus?cn=< >&opendb=<WokrbookName>&wo

    Hope that helps..

  • How to setup discoverer to work with portal in future

    Hi,
I have to setup the environment for a discoverer 10g R2 based reporting application.
The application is supposed to display reports on the portal that is hosted on Oracle 10g AS.
I started with installation of Oracle 10g R2 DB server. I have the Oracle BI suite 10g , Oracle 10g AS, Oracle 10g Portal etc with me.
Can someone guide me as to how should I proceed in the installation step-wise so as the repoting application can be hooked on to the AS and displayed in portal.
The slight catch here is there is a separate team working on developing the portal.
I need to know what is to be done so that there is a smooth merger of discoverer with the portal.
    Thanks
    Goga

    Hi
The interaction between Discoverer and Portal takes place after you have installed the full-blown application server. Stand-alone Discoverer cannot be made to hook into Portal.
When you install the full application server you need an infrastructure database. You either do this manually by inserting the repository components into an existing database or you use the seeded database that comes with the install. Personally, I prefer the seeded approach.
After you have installed the infrastructure you run the installer a second time and install the middle tier. While you can install the infrastructure and middle components onto the same machine, performance is better if you use different machines. However, if you are only trying to test things out, doing all of this on one machine would be ok.
After you have got your middle tier components installed (Discoverer and Portal), make sure they are working. For Discoverer you will need to have an EUL. For Portal you only need to be able to connect to it.
Next, and only now comes the link between Discoverer and Portal. All you need to do is tell Portal that the link is to be enabled. This is called creating a portlet provider.
To create a portlet provider for Discoverer follow this workflow:
    1. Connect to Portal as Portal user
    2. On the top right, click the Administer tab
    3. You will see three further tabs, this time on the left, called Portal, Portlets and Database
    4. Click the Portlets tab
    5. Locate the Remote Providers box on the top right hand side
    6. Click Register a Provider
    7. In Provider Information enter the following:
    a) a name - for example Discoverer
    b) a Display name - for example Discoverer
    c) Timeout - for example 30 seconds
    d) Timeout message - for example Please try again later
    e) In implementation Stype select Web
    f) Click the Next button
    8. In General Properties enter the following:
    a) In URL type http://hostname:port/discoverer/portletprovider
    Eg. http://server1.learndiscoverer.com:7778/discoverer/portletprovider
You may need to omit the port on some systems so that it would look like this:
    http://server1.learndiscoverer.com/discoverer/portletprovider
    Note: type discoverer/portletprovider as stated
If you do need a port and are unsure as to which port number to enter follow this workflow:
    i) Launch a second browser window
ii) Type http://hosntame:1811 (or whatever is the AS Control port on your system) and press Enter
iii) In username enter ias_admin and the associated password
iv) When authenticated, you will see the Farm for your infrastructure and mid tier
    v) Cick on the mid tier instance (you may need to enter your ias_admin username and password again)
vi) Click the Ports link alongside the word Home at the top of the screen
vii) Note the port number for your HTTP Server Listen(non-SSL) port
viii) Close AS Control and go back to the portlet provider setup
    b) Check the box Web provider in same cookie domain as the portal
    c) Leave other defaults as they are and scroll down to section called User/Session Information
    d) In User/Session Information check User and specify that the frequency should be Once per user session
    e) Click the Next button
    8. In Grant Access leave this alone and click the Finish button
    9. If you get a warning about the cookie domain click the OK button
    10. Exit Portal
You have now successfully created a portlet provider for Discoverer
To test that this is working enter one og these in your browser window:
    If using ports:
    http://hostname:port/discoverer/portletprovider
    If not using ports:
    http://hostname/discoverer/portletprovider
The system should respond with Congratulations! You have successfully reached your Provider's Test Page
    Does this help?

  • Invoking a Discoverer Report from a web page written in JSP

    Hi,
We are using Discoverer 10.1.2 against a relational database. We are not using the OLAP option.
I have a requirement wherein users would like link to a Discoverer Report from a web application which is not deployed in Oracle Portal. So Discoverer portlets are not the solution.
I basically need to be able to provide the Report URL in the JSP page.
Has anybody done this ? Can you please provide some pointers towards how to generate the Discoverer report URL to invoke the report from a JSP ?
    Thanks
    Manav

Discoverer URL parameters can be found here in the Configuration Guide here:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B13918_03/urlstart.htm#sthref888
Note, that you cannot pass the password in the URL (security restriction) so you will need to use Public or Private connections and pass the connection ID or use an HTML form to build the URL using the POST method.
Or, you can fill in the desired fields and let the user enter their username/pwd.
Hope that helps get you started.
    Regards,
    Steve.

  • Discoverer Report Requirements

    Hi
I am fairly new to Portal and currently looking at implementing it for a client using Portal v 10.1.4.1 and AS 11.5.10.2. Currently I am gathering requirements and one of these is to allow the users to display a number of Discoverer reports. At present the reports have not been defined and this is currently in progress. However from a Portal perspective can someone clarify please what components are needed both from Portal and also from Oracle AS in order to display these reports as well as any other comps. I have been reviewing the documentation and it seems to state that we need a Oracle BI component installed. Is this just for Dashboards or also for displaying reports in the Portlet ?
The documentation states that the Pre requisites for Discoverer Portlets are
    1) Install Oracle Application Server Infrastructure
    2) Install Oracle Application Server Portal
    3) Install Oracle Business Intelligence
Can someone please confirm what I need to install in order to achieve this functionality ?
    Thanks in advance
    Kevin

    Kevin,
If you have Portal installed and Discoverer Viewer then you can simply create a page in Portal with url items which contain links to the discoverer viewer reports. You need to create public connections within Discoverer. The easiest way of getting the correct url is to simply run the desired report within a browser and copy the url into the portal item.
If you need to set some of the parameters dynamically you can do this in a dynamic page and htp.p() the link as html, setting the desired parameters at runtime.
Portal allows you to create Discoverer portlets but these are pre-run and cached, which is great for performance but not so good if you need them to be dynamic.
You may need buiness intelligence if you are wanting to work with Oracle Applications: my understanding is that Business Intelligence is a pre-built End User Layer with Business Areas that get you up and running quickly with Discoverer in the eBusiness Suite. It is possible to do without Business Intelligence but it will require some up-front work to build your own end user layer and configure it.
There are a number of articles on Metalink about getting Discoverer to work with Oracle Applications which covers all this in great detail.

  • How to open reports in same portlet when clicked on item report links in menu portlet

    Hi,
I am not sure what forum I should ask this question. Anyway, I am trying in the content areas forum.
Let me explain what I trying to do.
I have reports links as menu item links in a menu. I have published this menu to portal and added it to a page. I can now see the report links. If I now click on the report link, it opens the report in a whole window. How do I open the report in the same portlet or if this is not possible, how do I open this in a different portlet on the same page ?
    thanks for helping.
    Mainak

    Hi,
This is part of JPDK. You will have to install it. Which version of portal are you using? You can also try this out using
URL portlet which is available with webview in 309.
    Thanks,
    Sharmila

  • Discoverer report with parameters and functions

I am new to Discoverer. Is there a way to create a report (with parameters) of one line per customer such that the following data will be displayed for each customer?
Among the parameters is: from_date (month & year) ,to_date
The basic query gives totals for each date (month & year) for every customer.
    Among the fields displayed:
    1-customer_id,
    2-balance until from_date,
    3-total activity between from_date and to_date
I have a function to calculate the total balance until from_date, but then I cannot get the total activity on the same line. I tried using another function and I tried using a total calculation but to no success.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks.

    Hi Markus
You need to determine whether you can in fact call a Discoverer report using a URL before linking it in Portal. You need to run the report in Viewer first and then see copy the URL from the address line of the browser. Then you open another browser and paste the URL. You may well be prompted for a username and password but hopefully the correct report with the right parameters will then execute.
Assuming this works you then paste the same URL link into Portal and you should be able to get the report to run.
    Best wishes
    Michael
