Registering for My Nokia on English-language websi...

American, living in Poland, SIM-free 5800XM purchased in Poland (for trans-world travel). I use three different ("Pay-as-you-go") SIM chips: AT&T for the US, T-Kom for Germany and Sami Swoi for Poland (some of these chips are used in other countries as well... I travel a lot).
None of my cell numbers work for registration with My Nokia in an English-speaking country in Europe and, I understand, there are some subtle differences in the 5800XM sold in the US (and my AT&T SIM chip/cell number will expire in less than 90 days... I also have no reason to renew - will probably just get another US number/chip sometime next year).
How do I register for My Nokia/get most current updates from an English-speaking website?
In a pinch, I could possibly use my German/T-kom number and register withthe German website (?)... my German is a littel rusty though...

To be honest I wouldn't bother registering with My Nokia.
The "tips" that they send you are at the level of "did you know that the on/off switch turns your phone on and off?", recently they sent everyone a message recommending an antivirus (which is totally unnecessary on a S60 phone), and notifications of firmware updates become irrelevant if you check once a week yourself anyway.
There's very little value added.
OTOH, you could sign up with ovi.com, which would allow you to sync your contacts and calendar events (as you can with My Nokia), give you access to ovi share (share online), ovi mail and a few other things. Much more worthwhile IMO.

Lack of World or Non-English language films and search filter in Australia

iTunes Australia doesn't have a search set up for World or Non-English language films in Australia whereas it does in US. Please fix and please also include more titles - very limited to the point of embarrassing Apple...

In terms of the films that are available there, Apple can only sell the films that the studios/rights-holders have granted them licenses to sell there. You can try requesting that films be added, but unless the studios agree to it then Apple won't be able to add them : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

Chinese language pack on English-language Nokia E7...

I'm based in Manila and just bought a Nokia E72 cellphone here locally in the Philippines. The unit is labeled E72-1.
I needed a cellphone which can display Chinese-language (both Traditional & Simplified Chinese) characters.
Unfortunately, this E72 I bought here only has the English language.
I've read that the Nokia E72 in Hong Kong / Taiwan / Singapore can display both English and Chinese language.
Is it possible to have the Nokia E72 add a Chinese language pack to display Chinese characters? I really need the Chinese display capability since I regularly have contacts who send me important SMS messages with Chinese characters.
If it's not possible to add the Chinese character display capability, I may be forced to let go of this Nokia E72 and perhaps have to order it instead from Hong Kong (or perhaps Taiwan or Singapore) where I presume the Nokia E72 there will have the English + Chinese display capability built-in.
Although not as important as the Chinese-display capability, I would also like if it could have Chinese language input capability installed on this E72. Is this also possible?
Note that I don't need the phone system menus/commands to be displayed in Chinese language (and actually prefer them to be English language). I only need the phone to display/input Chinese characters in the SMS messages.
Please advise so that I can make a decision as soon as possible, whether to let go of this locally-bought E72 with only English language and instead procure a unit from abroad with the Chinese language display (and input) capability.

1) Using the above page, one can download Chinese dictionary (Traditional and Simplified Chinese versions available).
It seems that after installing both dictionaries for the Mobile Dictionary application, I can fire up the Mobile Dictionary app and choose Target language to Traditional and Simplified Chinese. The Traditional Chinese characters don't seem to display (some characters display while others are "square boxes"; but the Simplified Chinese characters appear to display correctly.)
So, it appears that the dictionary app can display Chinese characters (at least Simplified Chinese) after installing, although the SMS messages still display "square boxes" where there are Chinese characters.
2) Download Chinese [Mandarin] (or Chinese [HK]) language text-to-speech. Now even though the E72 doesn't display Chinese characters (they show up as square boxes), I can use the msg reader to read those "square boxes" messages and it will read them in Chinese. So at least, that's one way of having Chinese read back to you although the characters themselves can't be displayed. (Set Language Detection to "On" in the Speech settings so it automatically recognizes Chinese; or one could also set the Voice Language to Mandarin Chinese so that even the voice prompts are read in Mandarin Chinese -- however, if Language Detection is set to "Off", it will try to read English SMS messages as per Chinese pinyin -- ie. incorrectly.).
One bug I notice is that for Chinese character email messages (Nokia Messaging). If I set my Language to English, but set the Speech setting of Language Detection to "On", and then activate the "Listen/Read" email messages, then the Msg Reader will hang up the phone. I had to use a utility called JBakTaskman to forcefully close Msg Reader (if don't have JBakTaskman, then have to turn off the phone and turn it back on). So it looks like while the Language Detection can auto-detect Chinese characters in SMS messages and read them properly in Chinese, it seems to hang up in Email Messages.

How to force english language for VC BI Iview

Hi,
All developments in BI system are english so when users launch VC BI Iview from the portal what ever the logon language in the portal we would like that users get results in english.
In the VC iview, for parameter Forced Request Language we select value English but it doesn't work.
We don't find other iview parameter which allows to do that.
With BEX WEB template iview, we can do that by setting LANGUAGE=EN for parameter Application Parameters in the
iview.
Do you know how to force English language for VCBI Iview ?

If you use Delta Links between your portal objects (role, workset, page, iview), make sure that the Forced Request Language is set to "English" on the linked iView (which is only accessible from the page, from the workset, from the role...)

Has FM 9 or 10 a better working dictionary for non-english languages?

I am using FM 7 (latest update) on Windows Vista.
As it is now, there's a limit of how many characters a word can have for it to be entered into the dictionary. We here in Sweden have 3 letters that are not present in the English language, å, ä and ö. In the dictionary these letters are replaced with 4 (!) characters each:
å is replaced by \x8c
ä is replaced by \x8a
ö is replaced by \x9a
If I have a long word containing a couple of those letters, it wont be added into the dictionary. That means that it doesn't alert me of misspellings and it hyphenates totally crazy. The only way to get around the crazy hyphenation is to add the - manually, and that is just not good at all. If I then add or remove words before there's a 100 % chance that I will miss removing the -.
We are thinking about upgrading to version 9 or 10. Is there a solution for this there? Is there still a limit? Don't they understand that other dictionaries are used and that some languages have longer words than the English language?

The workaround is a bit ugly because you don’t get any useful feedback in the marker dialog, but it works. The following images (made with FrameMaker 7.2) show the marker dialog before and after clicking "Edit Marker"
and the appearance in a List Of Markers document with visible special characters in a wide and in a narrow column.
In the wide column you can see the special symbol which is the placeholder for the discretionary hyphen. If this does not appear, try to reenter \x04 in the dialog.

We have a requirement to convert customer data from lagacy system to Oracle EBS supporting English and Non-English languages. Our conversion programs for english is working fine but we are not sure about the approach for other language converions. Can anyboody share the knowledge if faced similar requirements?

I believe your conversion programs should work regardless of the language the data is stored in, as long as the database and Apps use UTF8 characterset. To the code, data is data, whether it is in English or in another language. Your approach should be to test your conversion programs in test instances and tweak them as necessary. Are there specific concerns you have with using data in other languages ?

English language Plug in for PS CS5, with a German version of Photoshop

I bought a software 'plug in' in English language(German was not available), for a German version of PS CS5 and the first time(I did that many times) it's not working! I also tried to solve this problem with the support of the software company, without success. Of course I don't want to buy a new full PS version, to make this work. Any ideas, what I could do? How can you be sure that the language version is the cause of the trouble? Please provide more information, e.g. operating system, Photoshop version (do you have all the updates?), error messages, description of problem, name of plug-in, etc.

Hi Ajay,
You have only the text fields and there is no options to have more languages.
But you have 3 text fields from 50 long.
Use line 1 for Englisch and line 2 or 3 for Chinese, in the most report the text from line 3 is printed, but you can create more line variants.

First of all, uninstall it with the uninstaller.
Then:
Install the ENGLISH version.
Change the language in the CC app to Korean.
Install the Korean version. (DON't uninstall the English version)
Change back the langauge in the CC app to English.
When your OS is running in English, InDesign will run in English with Korean functionality added, if your OS is running in Korean it will take the Korean User Interface, so let your OS run in English.
Every installer language will add needed plugins for the work with that language. E.g. If I install Hebrew, I get RTL functionality in German version, only if I would change the OS language it would change the language of InDesign, InDesign takes always as UI language the language of the OS if available, if not (in your case you have uninstalled English before), it takes any version which is available in the order of languages specified in the OS.
If you need to run your program in a different language than the OS but you have installed it in the language of the OS it becomes more difficult. You would have to use some system tools which are able to force a program to open with a different language. Most of those tools are freeware.
