Registering for Starter edition 3.0 a problem

I am trying to register my starter edition but it won't connect to the site. I keeps telling me that I must make sure the web address is correct? Now I cannot get my unlock code. PLEASE HELP. Erika Nortje [email protected]

It will not let me get my unlock code. I called your support line and they gave me one, but it will not let me click on the unlock button when I give the code. When I went to register it says unable to connect to server, but my computer is always online. It uploaded all my photos immediately and started to delete some from my sim card, and now I cannot get to my photos because I can unlock the code. HELP ME! frustrated! [email protected]

  • Photoshop Album Starter Edition to Photoshop 7.0

How can I export photos from Photoshop Album Starter Edition to Photoshop 7.0?

The pictures are there on your hard drive.
Photoshop 7  does not "import" pictures – you open them when you want to edit them.
In case you meant Photoshop Elements  7.0, there is a thing called the Organizer.

  • Unlocked, Registered and Working (Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition v3.0)

Following several threads in this user-to-user forum, I lodged a bug report with Adobe and to my amazement, was promptly helped out of the sticky situation of not being able to connect to the internet/register Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition v3.0. After providing all my details and Windows version etc, Adobe came back with an unlock code matched to my email address and ... razzamatazz...problem cured. Moral is simple: lodge a bug report providing all information then and subsequently to Adobe, and sit back.

The same thing happens to me, I've gotten the code and the "unlock now" button won't work. I've tried cut and paste and manually entering. I've tried registering again, and I've deleted the entire program and started over, still can't get the "UNLOCK NOW" to highlight for unlocking. Can't get code to "Enter", what am I doing wrong?

  • Cannot register my Photoshop Album Starter Edition!

    Hi,
I'm using your free software Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0, on Windows XP SP2 platform.
I would like to register it, but each time I try I encounter the following problem:
in the window "Status", after "Checking for Internet connection" and "Attempting to connect to Internet" dialog boxes, I receive the
report "Unable to connect to site".
What's happening? I use the broadband LAN Internet connection, so there can't be any problem with Internet access, even firewall is
not "guilty" (I tried to switch it off, but the problem with registration persists).
    What should I do?

If it's any help the thumbs.5.cache (at least in Windows XP) should be in:
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Catalog Folders\My PSE5 Catalog
where My PSE5 Catalog is whatever your new PSE5 Catalog is called. It's a hidden
sample folder so you need to enable seeing hidden files and folders to see it. Not sure about the tn.4.cache as a recent discussion here indicated that it's from an older version of Elements (PSE3) and PSE5 shouldn't have one. Renaming wouldn't help and might give problems. If you can't find the thumbs.5.cache it sounds like PSE5 is having trouble building it for some reason and I think I'd be contacting Adobe Tech Support.

It is a common misconception that Starter Edition 'stores', or copies, your files into it. But the program does not move or copy files at all, rather it scans your system's My Pictures directory, and generates miniature versions of your pictures (called thumbnails) so that you can browse a 'flat' list of thumbnails of your photos, overcoming the inconvenience of having to go into separate folders in Windows Explorer to have to find files. The thumbnails, as well as any tags, and Albums that you create in Starter Edition are all stored in the Photoshop Album catalog file, separate from your pictures, and your pictures remain where you originally copied them to your computer.
If you use Photoshop Album to subsequently download files from a digital camera or scanner, the default location where the program will create those files would be in the My Pictures>Digital Camera Photos folder. But if you do NOT use Photoshop Album Starter edition to download files from your camera, then you will find that folder empty.
The thumbnails in the Starter Edition catalog will exist, even if you decide to move or delete the original photos that were added to the program. This will cause files in the Photoshop Album catalog to become 'disconnected' from the original photos. To reconnect the files, you can use the File>Reconnect Missing files command to see if the program can locate the original files in a new location, and once again re-link the catalog thumbnails to the files they once referenced.
Since Photoshop Album has been discontinued, I recommend that folks find an alternative solution. One alternative that will preserve most of what you've created in Starter Edition is the Photoshop Elements 8 trial. Install that, and it will automatically convert the Photoshop Album catalog to a current format, and the program will not time out, as Starter Edition did. If you want to purchase more Editing power, you can also choose to purchase the full program, but it's not required.
If you are like many who have come to this forum wondering how you can get to your photos, now that the program has become locked or expired, don't worry; your photos have never been moved by Photoshop Album; they remain wherever you intially put them, on your hard drive. To get to them, you can navigate your file system using Windows Explorer. They are typically in your My Documents>My Pictures folder. Here is a handy How-To that you could refer to to find photos on your system, as well as some other tips for how you can use folders to keep your photos organized: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/maintain/filemgmt.mspx
    Hope those tips help!

  • Cannot register my photoshops starter edition

I have downloaded Photoshop 3.2 for uplading my camera photos but when i try to register it it doesn't send me an email with the code to put in the box.  Can anyone help with this please as I've been on chat and they can't help. If they can't help  can't see how anyone else can really, but this is where I have bee told to go.

    Hi,
You can't register it because it has been discontinued.
Announcement: Photoshop Album Starter Edition Discontinued
The Photoshop Album Starter Edition software has been discontinued.
If you are using Starter Edition version 3.0 or later, you can continue to access your Starter Edition catalog and files if you install the Photoshop Elements trial. Using Photoshop Elements, you can continue to catalog, tag and share your photos and videos.
You may otherwise safely uninstall Starter Edition without losing access to any files. That is because Starter Edition does not copy files or store them in any way that the operating system (ie, Windows) cannot find them. The most likely location of your files is in your My Pictures folder.
Consider using Photoshop  Elements as your next step in managing, editing and sharing your digital photos and video. If you are looking for an online backup service to protect you in case of loss of computer or hard drive, Photoshop Elements is integrated with photoshop.com to preserve and restore your entire library of backed up photos; backing up is easy, using Photoshop Elements 9 or later.

  • PS Elements catalog problems from Album Starter Edition

I have PS Elements 11 installed on my new notebook. I have copied all my photos from my old PC into the Photos folder on the notbook (running Windows7).  I then imported them into PS Elements. I had them all catalogued on the PC under PS Album  Starter Edition. I have copied the  the catalog  .psa file as suggested in the instructions &  used the convert command under Elements' Manage Calalogs. Everything seemd to go as expected; all my 'Collections' came in as 'Albums' & all my Tags are there.. But  none of the images are being read. All the thumbnails are the generic flower image. It seems tthe catalog is still pointing to the old D: drive on my PC& it wants me to "connect the external drive".  What have I done wrong? Have can I fix this?  I have nearly 9000 photos & hundreds of tags etc.  I will break my heart to lose the cataloging.

Thanks so much, Andaleeb, for your interest in my problem.
The last idea I had was similar to your suggestion - to connect my new
notebook (on which I have PSE11) to the old PC (which has Starter Edition
on it), using Peer to Peer by wireless, so the notebook could see the files
    on the PC.
Then Import the images into PSE11 from the "external drive" - this I
    managed to do fairly easily.
Then I thought I should be able to access the Catalog file on the PC, in a
similar way from the notebook via the wireless connection.
My thinking was that it then should not be confused about where the images
were actually located; and I would then be able to send a backup
instruction from PSE11 to the files on the PC; and THEN - restore from that
backup, and using the fact that when restoring, PSE11 asks if you want to
relocate the files and catalog to a new location - and I could choose to
    relocate them on the notebook.
However, although I managed to import the images into PSE11 easily, I could
not get it to recognize the catalog (.psa) file on the PC via the wireless
connection. I checked & rechecked that I had the relevant folder set
correctly to 'share', but no luck.
I don't know why this was, because it you copy the catalog file to a usb
stick & plug it into the notebook, it can pick it up OK.
So I tried that anyway, and converted the catalog again from the usb stick,
hoping that since the import of the images was via the wireless connect,
    PSE11 now 'knew' the images were located on the 'external' PC hard drive;
but still the converted catalog would not function. Same as before - all my
Albums & Tags were listed correctly, but all the image thumbnails changed
from correct images to 'lost' generic Adobe flowers.
At that point, I lost heart & decided I would have to abandon the project &
just start the massive task of re-cataloging. I have a total of 64Gig of
photos, of which about 12Gig were cataloged. Very sad!
Now your suggestion has inspired me to give it one more try. It might make
a difference to have PSE11 on the PC working locally rather than trying to
negotiate the external drive thing. I had forgotten that I can do this with
    a trial version.
I will let you know how I go.

  • Adobe Photoshop Starter Edition 3.0 - problem opening My Catalog

Have installed and uninstalled Adobe Starter Edition 3 numerous times. Each time I get the following message:
There was a problem opening the catalog 'My Catalog'
Another user or application may have the catalogue open, or one or more files may be missing, out of date or damaged.
The ODBC data source returned the following error:
"[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]Invalid connection string attribute"
Attempt to compact and recover this catalog and then open again?
If I then click OK it says
A problem was encountered during catalog recovery. Your catalogue may be OK but if you experience problems with it that can't be resolved through the Recover Catalog option or restarting your system you may need to restore this catalog from a backup.
When I click OK - only option offered:
Unable to open catalog called 'My Catalog' because the file is damaged.
Please select an action to perform:
    * open an existing catalog
    * create a new catalog called My Catalogue-1.psa
If I do the first it goes back to square 1 above. If I do the second the same.
Every time I have uninstalled I have then done a search for all files using name My Catalog and deleted those.
Am running on XP fully up to date.
    HELP!!!

    Jim,
Many thanks. But, yes, I have done all that several times. Worse still when I load the Photoshop to my laptop all works just fine. Yet both are on up to date XP. I have a Dell p.c. and a Toshiba laptop. Maybe all this is hardware related? Or else I have some Windows corruption on my p.c. But I don't think so as other people are reporting the same problem as I have.
Do you know if there is a way I can ask Adobe directly?
    Regards
    Andy

    Hi -
I'm having a problem with my photo album 3.2 edition. I use this program to crop or contract my pictures for my ebay selling. Most of the pics I take have either a white or black background and the problem I'm having is really noticeable on pics with white backgrounds. When I click on a pic in the ALBUM, that I want to edit/FIX the whole picture takes on a yellowish hue so as I'm fixing it, it looks very strange and then when I'm done editing, it goes back to normal again. I've been using this for a while now and I've never had this problem and cannot figure out what the heck is going on - it's making me nuts. HELPPPPPP!!!!! I tried looking at my preferences to see if the program was setup to automatically correct it when I click on the picture to edit? but that's not even an option so I don't know what else to do and I've searched all around. Any and all info would be appreciated :) Thanks

  • $1000 budget for a starter editing rig

My desktop that I used for editing recently broke down due to old age. Unfortunately I only have a budget of $1000. I am looking to upgrade after 3 months due to tight budget. What starting system do you require for someone who heavily editing HDSLR footages?

    hello friends,
I don't know if it's okay to post my question here in this existing thread but since it's somehow related I thought I should give it a try:
(sorry for any mistakes, English is not my native language)
I'm also looking for hardware to build up a new computer for some editing with Premiere Pro CS6. Until now, I've edited with my (very) old AMD quadcore (4GB RAM) and my i5-MacBook Pro, using Premiere CS6 on both systems. I'm a university student, always on a tight budget. And I'm used to be quite patient with my computer while editing. So please keep this in mind while reading this. I know that most of you consider a budget of ~$1500-$1800 far too cheap to really buy a decent editing computer. But so far, I've managed to edit my videos and pictures on my very old piece of crap computer and still was satisfied with the results. I'd just love to increase my computer's editing performance a little bit and - compared to the old system I'm using now - this should be do-able, even with ~$1500.
My problem is that I know far too less about hardware. I'm struggling to find the right parts to create a balanced system. That's why I'm asking you guys!
I'd like to use the following components: (my max. budget's around $2000)
    - Intel Core i7-3770
    - Samsung SSD 840 Pro Series 256GB
    - ASUS GTX660-TI
I've read good things about the ASUS Sabertooth X79 in combination with the GSkil RipjawsZ F3-12800CL9Q2-32GBZL - but this mainboard seems to be a bit overkill for the other parts, right? Like I said, I'm having difficulties with finding the right balance between all the hardware parts. Of course I'd also need a decent power supply.
I'm usually working on rather short videos and projects. That's why I'm doing okay without a fast RAID system.
I've already read quite a bit about this whole subject. Quite a lot of people also recommended cheaper and not so much high-performance parts. They told me it would be better to rather spend ~$1300 than ~$2000 cause I wouldn't be able to spot great performance differencies anyway in this "price range". Do you think that's true?
Here's an example for a low-budget system somebody "arranged" for me: (sorry for the German website, but you should be able to figure out the parts nevertheless)
    http://geizhals.at/?cat=WL-171769
And to give you a better idea of what I'm doing with Premiere:
    My YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/schaaf
I'd love to be able to use beginner-friendly plugins like MB Colorista for grading etc. This is something I'm not really able to do now on my old computer. The performance is just too bad. As you can see, I'm working with h.264 coded footage only, coming from my GoPro 2 or Canon EOS 7D.
    I'd really appreciate your help!
    Best Regards,
    Herbert

  • After registering on the album starter Edition 3.0, I am getting an error message saying that windows internet explorer cannot find the website, to make sure the path or internet address is correct.  when i click ok, it all goes away, adobe and all.  Help

I called tech support that switched me to customer care and after over half an hour on the phone, they told me to look it up in the forums.  If you have any words of wisdom, I would love to hear them now.  I guess I have to get through this registering phase to obtain the unlock code.  I am surprised at how faulty this step is.  I expected more from Adobe.
    Please help!!!  Thanks.  Lisa

You need to update your starter edition 3.0 to a 3.2 edition. Go to www.adobe.com, click on "Downloads" then "updates", continue to look under "Product updates" and scroll down to "Photoshop Elements". Now you need to download the Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2. This update will automatically remove your 3.0 edition, and your photos will be accessible in the 3.2 edition. Now you can register again. Good Luck!
