Registering iPod nano itunes

I'm trying to register my mother's ipod onto a new iTunes and each time I attempt to register the iPod, it shuts down the program.

Registration of Apple products are not done through an application.  You can either do so online or through Apple Customer relation by phone which is the way to go as it's easier & faster.

Can I syncronize my iPod without loosing all its data?. How about syncronizing it to my iPhone?

Have you tried the steps listed here?

  • Need help registering iPod Nano (3rd Gen) into iTunes

Got the 3rd Gen iPod nano for Christmas, but I'm having difficulty setting it up.
The manual says I need to wait for something known as a "Setup Assist" to come up. Nothing ever did.
Also, in iTunes, it tells me (when I click on the iPod icon under "devices") that I still need to register the product. It takes me to the terms and conditions sheet, and as is typical, tells me to "agree to terms" and then... I click "save." it asks me to save an rtf file onto my computer. I do so, but nothing ever happens. And my iPod still won't work.
Am I saving it somewhere wrong? (I've saved it in My Documents, as well as the iPod and iTunes folders in My Programs)
Any help is appreciated, and Merry Christmas

Okay! I found out what to do.
What you're going to have to do is go into the Control Panel on your computer.
Go into "Appearance and themes." You're going to have to change the screen resolution. 1280x600 or so should do the trick.
Go back into iTunes and you should see the "continue" button on the far right. (Very scrunched up and annoying, I know. But it works!)
I hope that helps you out.

  • Ipod Nano / iTunes registering problems

Evening all, got a 3rd gen iPod Nano today for my Birthday, charged it up while installing iTunes and setting up an apple account. I'm English so I set my location to England, nuff said; I then plugged in my iPod and it brought up the register screen in iTunes, i logged in with the above account then iTunes moved on to the personal info "Registration Information", it had all the info i had already input but it was saying i was from America and would not let me change this and if i just try to continue it says stuff about my info being invalid for an American (differences in uk and us phone and post codes) {it actually says "Postal Code must be a 5-digit number" in red and has red arrows pointing to the "State" selector and the Phone area code}. Any ideas?

  • PC used to register iPod nano no longer available

I know this was a mistake. I registered my ipod nano on a computer I no longer have access to. I have a new computer at home, HP Compaq. My new computer is not recognizing my ipod and I'm not able to transfer songs purchased to my library. Is it possible to register my ipod on this computer and if not, if I reset all settings which I believe will delete my songs, will I then be able to register it? Thank you.

There is no actual registration between a computer and iPod. The iPod may be synced to a particular iTunes library, so you may need to get your songs off the iPod, set up your iTunes library on the new computer the way you want it, and then sync your iPod to the new library.
There is authorization between a computer and your iTunes Store account. So you will need to run iTunes on the new computer and use the +Authorize Computer+ command under the Store menu to authorize the new computer with your iTunes Store account. Your old computer will still be registered, but you can have up to five computers registered to one iTunes Store account.
Now, if you only need to transfer the items purchased from the iTunes Store from the iPod to the new computer, you can do the following. First, go to iTunes preferences Devices tab. Check the box that says +Disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods+. This is just a precaution, because iTunes should ask before syncing your iPod for the first time with a new library.
Connect the iPod and run iTunes. If iTunes asks if you want to sync the iPod, decline to do so. iTunes should open and the iPod should appear in the iTunes sidebar. Select the iPod in the sidebar. Go up to the menu bar and select +File -> Transfer Purchased from <name of iPod>+. That would put all the iTunes Store purchased items on your iPod into your iTunes library.
Note: This only works for iTunes Store purchases. If you want other files off the iPod, you will need to use a third-party utility. iTunes will not do it.

  • Registering iPod Nano 4th with AppleId - registered to another Apple ID.

Hello, today i was trying to register my iPod Nano to the new Apple Id service. I'm the owner of the iPhone, MBPro and iPod Nano 4th. I registered iPhone and MBP but for the iPod Nano i'm getting the error:
According to our records, this serial number is registered to another Apple ID. If you have more than one Apple ID, log in to My Support Profile with that Apple ID to see your other registered products. Not sure if you have another Apple ID? Find out.
The fact is that i have only one appleid and it's the one i'm using on itunes store and i'm sure i registered it with iPod Nano 2 yrs ago, when i bought it. But how do i un-register it with the other apple id if i don't remember it at all?

Are you the original owner of the devices which say they're registered to another Apple ID? You will need to call Apple or go to the store to have this straightened out.

  • Registering iPod nano - Session timed-out even though already registered

Having purchased a new iPod nano, when connecting it to iTunes I received the screen to register the nano with the options to Never Register, Later or Continue. I chose Continue but received the message 'Your registration session timed-out'. I registered through apple.com but now every time I connect the iPod I get this same screen and always the same 'Your registration session timed-out' message. Can anyone help me get past this screen ?

Actually, I've got this working. I had already tried resetting my Nano (take a look at the ipod support page at http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/ and lookup how to reset your ipod ) before and nothing doing.
However, the other day, I resetted it again and now my Nano is working fine! I got the 'registration' page and I selected 'Never Register' (although I have already done so via the web site) and can now update my Nano properly. I wonder if I didn't reset it properly last time - I can't think why else it didn't work last time. Ah well, try resetting and see what happens.

  • Registering iPod nano again ang again?

    Hi there
Was just woundering, why iTunes wants me to register my iPod nano everytime i connect it to my iMac? Shouldn't once be enough?

I have never seen any of the buttons you mention in the registration menue .
When plugging in the nano you have 3 choices:
    - don't register
    - continue
    - the other one i have forgotten... cancle or something.
By clicking continue you get into a page where to enter your acc, pw, and country. you can then either cancel or continue.
Next page you can enter further details like name, last name, phone number etc...
Best option here is the range of age where the iPod user is part of:
At least in German versio there is a typing mistake - the range between 10-33 that is choosable should probably be 10-13 but who cares.
You can then either choose cancel or continue again. By pressing continue you land in the iPod menue, where you can select which things to synchonice.. etc.
But there is never one of the buttons you mentioned.

  • Multiple issues with new IPod Nano+ ITunes 7

I am a formerly happy and loyal Apple user, but have recently become disenchanted due to what I see as bad faith actions.
I bought a new Ipod nano for my wife and brought it home to set up. When I plugged it in, it told me that I needed ITunes 7. Fair enough, I go up to download ITunes 7, only to be told that it won't work with OS 10.2.8 and that I need 10.3.9. There is nothing on the IPod packaging that indicates that I can only use ITunes 7. So as far as I can tell, Apple wants me to pay another $129 to buy a new OS, so that I can use my new ipod. It doesn't give me the option to use it with my existing setup. Is there a workaround so that I can use my ipod with my existing OS?
I started transferring my music collection to a PC to see if I could make it work there, since ITunes 7 works with Windows XP, which I have. This creates a new problem, since I can't seem to get the DRM protected music I bought on my Mac through ITunes to work on the PC. Can't get it to load onto the IPod, which is my whole intent in transferring it. My solution now is to not buy anything more from Itunes, since it will be a pain to transfer it when I change computers. I am not going to burn CDs for 400 songs, just to load them onto another computer. It seems like there are solutions on the web that can help you strip the DRM protection from songs, so I plan on using those to be able to listen to the music that I paid for.
Sor far, I have spent multiple hours trying to make things work. I have no interest in anything other than being able to listen to my music on our Ipods. While I understand the necessity to protect copyrights and limit illicit sharing, Apple has gotten a little too manipulative of a loyal customer base. Apple can count me in the formerly happy, now alienated group.

  • Windows sees 4G iPod Nano, iTunes only wants to "Restore" it

My problem is a variation on what appears to be a constant theme around here. Windows XP will recognize my 4G iPod Nano (16GB). It even gives it a drive letter. However, iTunes will only display the Software Version and Serial Number on the DEVICES Summary tab page. In the Version section of the page I can click the Restore button, but the restore will fail approximately half way through with the following, and I discovered vague, error:
+The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1429).+
I've spent about 6 hours researching and troubleshooting this now, completing all the steps here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1372 and here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1493. I've also uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes and the USB drivers a bunch. Still no joy.
    I'm open to suggestions.

Could you confirm your Presario's *model number* for me please? Certainly. Using HP's numerical identifiers:

  • MacBook Suddenly Doesn't Register iPod Nano

I have a MacBook and an iPod nano, which I've had for 7 months. I plug my ipod in through my MacBook's USB port to update it usually, and it always works. A few days ago, it started acting strange. I plug it in, and it turns on and begins charging, but it makes no noise signaling that its been recognized, it doesn't appear on the desktop, and it doesn't come up on iTunes so it doesn't update. Does anyone have any idea why this might be? Thank you!

We're having this problem too with my son's Nano (and probably with my daughter's if she could remember where she left it). Trouble is, being children they have lost the receipts (if they ever had them as they were gifts at Christmas), so although they got them 7 months ago we have no proof of that.
How likely are they to exchange them for us?

  • TS1362 iPod Nano, iTunes 10.7 OS10x 10.6.8 cannot write onto disk, 2 separate iPods

I just added OSX 6.8 and iTunes 10.7 to my 2008 vintage iMac in hopes of using my new iPod Nano (16GB).  I tried just about just about every trick I could think of to isolate and handle the issue, but I kept getting the same message: "Attempting to copy to the disk '..... iPod' failed. The disk could not be read from or written to." [with big red stop sign to solidify the impression]. Exasperated, I went for a Genius bar consultation, and was relieved when the agent said that it had to be a problem with the particular iPod. He promptly replaced the iPod with a matching one. I went home and crossed my fingers. "Surely, it must have been the defective iPod that was the problem," I thought to myself. Much to my dismay, the replacement did not work either - I got the same "Attempting to copy to the disk ... failed."  I have updated my phone and that works just fine, so I am really stumped. Is it possible that the replacement was also defective?
I really doubt that, but I cannot rule it out. I believe it to be some kind of software glitch, but I am trying to get in touch with someone who might know how to fix this problem. I don't really think that I should have to go to the genius bar again over this. The convenience factor for this product has really gone to pot for me. Please write me, I would really appreciate a solution.
    Thanks

  • Serious Problem With iPod Nano/iTunes...

    Hello all.
2 Months ago, I upgraded from a Dell Dimension 2800 to a 5100. I was using an iPod Shuffle. Upon connecting the device to my new computer, it would come up with 'iTunes cannot recognize the iPod' and so on. When trying to Restore Factory Settings, the process could not be completed. The Shuffle ended up breaking and was replaced by Apple. It still doesn't work in my computer.
I now have an iPod Nano, although the same problem occurs. I have reformatted my hard-drive several times, and have tested just the iPod with nothing else on the computer. Still the same problems. My USB Drives work fine, and Mass Storage works fine before installing iTunes and the iPod software. I am guessing that the iPod has corrupted my USB Drivers or something like that. I have followed all the help topics - they do not work. Both the Shuffle and the Nano work on other computers.
I know several people who have the same problem. I would like to know if anyone else has the same problem, and has any idea how to solve it?

  • Won't register iPod with iTunes

Ok, so I've had my 80g classic for over a week, and I have yet to register it with iTunes successfully. I go through all the steps, and then get an error message saying and I quote "we could not complete your iTunes store request. The requested resource was not found. There was an error in the iTunes store. Please try again later." So, am I doing something wrong? I have an old school shuffle already registered. I'm trying to register the new one with the same account, is that the problem?

You don't actually need to register an iPod to use it with your computer or iTunes store account. Check the never register box and you can register from the registration web page some other time: Apple Product Registration
