Registering iPod

I recently had to exchange my new iPod just after I registered it, so now I have to register a new one. I would like to know if there is a way to unregister old iPods or even if there is a way to see a list of what products are registered to you through Apple.

You'll find instructions and the link to the product registration page here: How to Register Apple Products on the Web

    How to register ipod nano

    Hi LaShaun76,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
You may find the information in this article helpful:
Do I need to register my Apple product?

Registering Apple products is not required for service and support. Service and support for your Apple product are linked to its serial number, which can be located on the device. If you'd like to check the service and support coverage for your Apple mobile device or computer, visit our Check Your Service and Support Coverage page.
Note: If you have purchased an AppleCare Protection Plan, but the plan has not been enrolled yet, you should register it here.

  • Registering iPod for the first time

I bought a new iPod Touch but I can't get it to let me register it through Apple when I plug it into my computer. I've already done it once 2 yrs ago with my sons but When I plug mine in it is not prompting me to register mine. Also having problems getting the itunes 10.5 to download. Had an older version on laptop and tried upgrading but now it's telling me it hasn't been installed properly. I've tried uninstalling it and putting it back in but still giving me the same warning!! Any suggestions please??

A new iPod should come with iOS 5 and that requires iTunes 10.5.
I would try removing  all the Apple software and then reinsatalling it using these instructions:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

  • Re-installing (and re-registering) iPod Video on New Computer

I am currently using my IBM thinkpad and I recently purchased an iPod. I want to install (and have been prompted to register) the software to start using it. However, I am going to purchase an iMac next week. Can I register and use my iPod on the IBM machine and then re-register/re-install software (or use the preinstalled software) on my new iMac when i purchase it?
Sorry if the ? is confusing. Bottom line, can you register your iPod and use it one machine and then change it to another machine? Does it require re-registration?
    Thanks.

If you are talking about the online product registration, no I don't think so, you need only to register once, that's all.
What is the more "challenging and difficult" part is that, as you know, the iPod only "recognises 1 master computer", so if you already have songs, playlists etc in your PC's iTunes and sync to the iPod; When you re-sync on your brand new mac with empty songs, your iPod will correspond to that sync, i.e. 0 songs.
If you can, copy the files, especially the iTunes data files, Library files etc and also all your songs from your PC to the new mac, then in this way, although the iPod is re-sync by a new computer, at least you have an identical playlists and songs, so your iPod will be (re)sync with the same data again.
    Cheers

  • If robber decides to activate iCloud on a registered iPod, will I be able to track it?

So, here's the deal. My iPod touch 5G was stolen on Friday night. I was at a concert and either the robber took it out of my bag without me realising (which I find rather difficult) or I accidentally dropped it from my bag and the person who found it decided not to give it back. I've been browsing several posts about losing a device and trying to find it, but it seems to be impossible without having activated iCloud. I took other measures such as reporting the device (with serial number) stolen to MacStores, so if the robber tries to get Tech Support, they will recognize it as a stolen device and let me know. By now, the iPod is for sure out of power and, therefore, off. I hadn't activated iCloud on the iPod (I had had it for only two weeks) but I do have it activated on my PC and the iPod is registered with my AppleID. So this idea came to my mind: let's say this person decides to keep the iPod and use it himself.  If this person decides to turn on iCloud, then will I be able to track it? Isn't the device linked to my Apple ID through the registration and, therefore, to my iCloud account? Or can a device be registered simoultaneously to more than one device?
I hope I was clear and that you folks can give me an answer
    Cheers!

The thief would not urn on the find my ipod feature using your account.
    It is gone.
    Very sorry

  • Can't register IPOD Classic

Everyone, this sounds really easy. I had a nano previously and it was easy. I just plug it in and the screen comes up and it charges and syncs. Well, I lost it and my wife got me an Ipod Classic. I'm doing the same thing, I plug it in, but no screen comes up. I put in a cd and ask the comp to import it using Itunes, to get my screen. It then shows my device.
Now I need to register it. When the register screen comes up in the itunes window, it's so big that I can only read the left half of the screen. You have the scroll lever on the side to go up and down but you don't have one going left and right. I also dragged the screen to the left, and put my cursor on the right edge of the itunes screen until it shows the left right arrow. It can move left, which shortens the page but it can't move any further to the right.
I've hit the enlarge window and nothing. I hit the views, and nothing. I can only read half of the page and can't register my IPOD.
Last thing, I don't see any special code for the IPOD classic, will I need one?

    Hi, kiki-just sorted our problem.
Go into Control Panel, Display and settings and increase the size of the pixel settings -worked for me-regards,
    John

  • ITunes is not recognizing my new computer and not allowing me to download my music that I already purchased even though it recognizes my registered iPod.

I got a new computer and downloaded iTunes. When I tried to download music that I already purchased I got a message that my computer was not authorized although my iPod was plugged in and it was recognized. I don't see anywhere that I can register my new computer. Can someone help me?

    - You do have iTunes version 11 on the computer, right. Saying the latest is not sufficient.
    - Have you tried everthing here:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - You should
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
Your library/media will not be affected.
    - Does the iPod charge?

  • PC used to register iPod nano no longer available

I know this was a mistake. I registered my ipod nano on a computer I no longer have access to. I have a new computer at home, HP Compaq. My new computer is not recognizing my ipod and I'm not able to transfer songs purchased to my library. Is it possible to register my ipod on this computer and if not, if I reset all settings which I believe will delete my songs, will I then be able to register it? Thank you.

There is no actual registration between a computer and iPod. The iPod may be synced to a particular iTunes library, so you may need to get your songs off the iPod, set up your iTunes library on the new computer the way you want it, and then sync your iPod to the new library.
There is authorization between a computer and your iTunes Store account. So you will need to run iTunes on the new computer and use the +Authorize Computer+ command under the Store menu to authorize the new computer with your iTunes Store account. Your old computer will still be registered, but you can have up to five computers registered to one iTunes Store account.
Now, if you only need to transfer the items purchased from the iTunes Store from the iPod to the new computer, you can do the following. First, go to iTunes preferences Devices tab. Check the box that says +Disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods+. This is just a precaution, because iTunes should ask before syncing your iPod for the first time with a new library.
Connect the iPod and run iTunes. If iTunes asks if you want to sync the iPod, decline to do so. iTunes should open and the iPod should appear in the iTunes sidebar. Select the iPod in the sidebar. Go up to the menu bar and select +File -> Transfer Purchased from <name of iPod>+. That would put all the iTunes Store purchased items on your iPod into your iTunes library.
Note: This only works for iTunes Store purchases. If you want other files off the iPod, you will need to use a third-party utility. iTunes will not do it.

  • Registering iPod Nano 4th with AppleId - registered to another Apple ID.

Hello, today i was trying to register my iPod Nano to the new Apple Id service. I'm the owner of the iPhone, MBPro and iPod Nano 4th. I registered iPhone and MBP but for the iPod Nano i'm getting the error:
According to our records, this serial number is registered to another Apple ID. If you have more than one Apple ID, log in to My Support Profile with that Apple ID to see your other registered products. Not sure if you have another Apple ID? Find out.
The fact is that i have only one appleid and it's the one i'm using on itunes store and i'm sure i registered it with iPod Nano 2 yrs ago, when i bought it. But how do i un-register it with the other apple id if i don't remember it at all?

Are you the original owner of the devices which say they're registered to another Apple ID? You will need to call Apple or go to the store to have this straightened out.

  • Set Up and Register iPod Shuffle

Each time iTunes opens, I see the same text on my screen. I cannot read all the text, because it flows off the right side on my monitor. Here’s what I can read:
    1. Set up your iPod
Choose a name for your iPod and specify w….
Want iTunes to automatically sync when you…
    IPod to the computer.
    2. Register and Set Up Your iTunes Stor….
The next time you sync your iPod and have….
Connection available, you will be asked to r….
IPod and set up your iTunes Store account.
I think I can make a pretty good guess regarding the missing text but – how do I “name my iPod,” and register? I’m guessing there’s also a button (that I can’t see) that says “Next” or “Continue” or something like that, that would normally take me to the next step. Help, anyone?

Open the Control Panel, click on Displays, and change the monitor's resolution to at least 1024 by 768.

  • Keeps asking to register ipods

when plugging both of my mother's shuffle and ipod video into her PC, a window asking to register and create an appleID opens. The options are create, register later, and never register. It won't go away. The only option that works is the create and you have to go thru the process. The final parts of it afer creating your ID is to add a credit card. She doesn't want to do this.
How do I get it to accept Never Register. She doesn't plan on buying any itunes music and itunes won' display her ipod contents.
    Thanks,
    Jerold

Jerold -- I am having the exact same problem as you are w/the register screens. I cannot fathom why everyone keeps saying to change the screen resolution. It isn't that things cannot be seen but rather that the whole registration page/pages are caught in some kind of a loop. Changing screen size does diddly squat. I realize that changing screen resolution may fix some problems, but not this one.
I ended up emailing the Apple Store because it was the only email address I had encountered after many times posing this question and receiving no answer. Here is the reply the person from the itunes store sent me. I kind of figured they would say to update but . . . since my daughter updated her new windows/Vista laptop she is unable to sync. She hasn't updated to 7.7.1 yet because she can at least manage her ipod manually. I'm contimplating upgrading to an older version - maybe 7.6.2 - but can't seem to find any answers as to whether this is a relatively 'bug-free' version. Apple -- oy! Hey, at least I got an answer and I didn't even have to pay for it!
"Dear XXX I'm sorry to hear you cannot get the iPod registration page off your

I recommend that you attempt to resolve this issue by uninstalling
iTunes and QuickTime, and then reinstalling the latest version of each. I
know you are reluctant to upgrade to the latest version, but any issues
with this software have been experienced by a very small number of
customers and is generally related to other third party software (such as
firewalls) that attempt to block the iTunes Store.
To upgrade, first ensure that you are logged in to an Administrator
