Registering Modules doesn't complete

Im having trouble installing itunes 7. I have the installer saved on my computer but when i run it, it installs until right at the end when it says it's "Registering Modules". This never completes what should i do? I can't uninstall it because it is not in Add/Remove Programs.

  • Error Code 2755 and hang-up at "Registering Modules"

    So a few days ago I decided to download iTunes 7, and everything in the installation seemed to be going fine until it stopped for about half an hour at "Registering Modules: iPodUpdaterExt.dll". I cancelled the installation, but iTunes worked anyway, and I thought that maybe it wouldn't really be an issue. I was wrong.
    I can't update the software on my Nano to the 1.2 version because the installation never really finished. And when I tried a few more times to re-download the installation files, it didn't work, gave me this error code 2755, and a little note popped up saying the installation encountered an unexpected error before it could be completed.
    If anyone could give me any advice, that'd be fantastic.

    This is the exact same problem that I'm having currently, Right now, I'm in the installation process for iTunes 7 and it has been taking a while to move on past "Registering Modules". I did the same thing before and cancelled the installation because it wasnt moving on, and later opened iTunes 7 to find it worked fine. Unfortunately, it didnt allow my iPod to get updated and nopw I have iPod games that are sitting around and need to get onto my iPod. Can someone please explain what is going on with the "Registering Modules" process of the installation?

  • [Flex 4] Module doesn't unload due to mx.styles.StyleManagerImpl - moduleFactroy?

    I have a custom component extending skinnableContainer and has a ButtonBar and Groups in it, which I use in my module.
    If I do not: import CustomClass; CustomClass; in my main application, then the module is stuck with mx.styles.StyleManagerImpl - moduleFactroy in the profiler.
    Why is that? I though that modules in Flex 4 have their own style manager and I should not have this problem? What I am missing?
    And also since I'm building a modular system and someone builds a module swf for it, he will have to include his components along with it, so then I can reference them in my mainApp, so his module doesn't get stuck in memory. Is that the way it's supposed to work or I am doing something work ?

    Thanks for the reply Darrell, as you can see I've started looking into the unloading modules and profiling topic, as I progress with my modular application.
    So I am kinda new in both, although I've read all articles I could find I have some problems so I've created a very simple application example again, so you could easily look into it and hopefully spread some light in my confusion.
    http://filip.nedyalkov.net/moduleImageStuck/ view source is enabled so you can confirm test what I will describe here, use it to view the source, or download to profile the results I post here.
    The scenario of the example is: On app creation 2 modules are loaded and created via moduleInfo:
    MyModule.mxml
    <s:Group><mx:Image id="imageLoader" /></s:Group>
    MyModule2.mxml
    <s:Group>
    <local:HNav /></s:Group>
    HNav.mxml - SkinnableContainer
    <s:ButtonBar><s:dataProvider><s:ArrayCollection><fx:String>B1</fx:String><fx:String>B2</fx:String></s:ArrayCollection></s:dataProvider></s:ButtonBar>
    So with the example provided I've made 3 test cases, where I get different results.
    1) The first one is as the example is currently setup to run, which means:
    - these 2 imports are NOT included in the main app
    //import mx.controls.Image; Image;
    //import HNav; HNav;
    - both modules are loaded via moduleInfo "load()" only method (moduleFactory is not passed).
    Darrell, here what I wonder is: "In Flex 4 a module will not be pinned in memory by StyleManager unless you explicitly set styles from the module into the top-level StyleManager". With this said I should be not having my modules pinned into memory with this setup, right? Or I am missing something? Here is the profiler result for both modules - both FlexModuleFactories remain:
    2) In the second test case I included the imports along with the current setup:
    import mx.controls.Image; Image;
    import HNav; HNav;
    The result here was nice, both FlexModuleFactories were gone in the profiler. But the question remains - why do I have to declare in my main app these classes when in Flex 4 the StyleManager shouldn't pin them like in case 1) in memory.
    3) I also post here this test case 3 because I find it as an unexpected behavior or bug maybe with the mx:Image class.
    Here we still have the imports but instead of "load()" we pass in the moduleFactory: load(null,null,null,moduleFactory);
    The result of this is having MyModule's FlexModuleFactory stuck in memory with reference with the StyleManager and MyModule2 is completely gone, so it's ok.
    Here is the profiler result:
    So the question here along with the idea it could be a bug, is: Should I pass moduleFactory to modules I plan to unload? I wanted to pass moduleFactory instead of declaring same styles for each module.
    Darrell I'm kinda stuck on these questions, cause I've found nothing on this in articles, and I tried really hard to put my very complexed project into this simple examples, so I get the methodology and logic of how a dynamic system which constantly loads and unloads modules should be structured.
    I really hope you find the time to answer me here till I get this running. I'm sure others will find it useful too. Thanks in advance.

  • [Solved] ehci_hcd unbind doesn't complete

    Hi and thanks in advance for your help.
    I'm most of the way through converting my htpc from ubuntu 10.10 to Arch but cannot get suspend/resume working with my DTV2000ds tuner. The tuner is otherwise working fine and when I remove it from my box suspend and resume works as expected.
    In ubuntu all I had to do was add
    SUSPEND_MODULES="xhci-hcd" to a file in /etc/pm/config.d
    In Arch this by itself isn't working. pm-suspend.log thinks it has entered suspend mode but all I get is a blank screen with a blinking cursor. This is similar behaviour to ubuntu before I added the SUSPEND_MODULES line above.
    I followed a script from these forums that unloads all the ehci_hcd devices one at a time. This unloads my mouse and usb IR-receiver but pm-suspend.log shows that it hangs when it gets to what I think is the built-in IR receiver in the tv-tuner.
    Trying to manually unbind with this command shows the same behaviour, works for my mouse but when I try it on the DTV2000ds it just hangs and doesn't complete.
    sudo sh -c 'echo -n "0000:00:xx.x" > unbind'
    Manually running the above command in ubuntu completes successfully.
    Can anyone suggest what to try next? If you want any specific log files let me know.
    Thanks,
    hubrat

    Marking as solved as I found a workaround. Instead of trying to unload ehci_hcd, I unloaded the module for my tv tuner - In this particular case dvb_usb_af9015. I reload it on resume and everything is working as expected.

  • Registering modules problem... PLEASE HELP!!

    I currently had an older version of itunes installed and decided to upgrade. I downloaded itunes 7 and Ive gone through most of the install. THe installation stops when almost completed and it is stuck at "Registering Modules". At first I though to redownload itunes. THis has not helped. I then proceded to download windows install cleanup. This hasn't worked. Now Im stuck in the install screen on register modules. THis has erased my old itunes and left me stuck without a working application. What can I do????

    Yes I do. I even tried stopping that for the installation and it won't work. I'm really frustrated.

  • Registering Modules Freeze on Installation??

    My computer always freezes at the Registering Modules portion of the installation of iTunes 7.2. After the incomplete installation I can open iTunes by opening a music file (I do get a box warns me that iTunes was not installed properly). It even seems to work fine, it plays music and tv shows and the iTunes store works too. The problem I am having with the incomplete installation is that I can't rip music from my CD's. Is there anyone out there who knows what I can do to finally get iTunes to install completely??
    Thanks!

    THANK YOU for pointing me in the right direction!! It was my SpyCatcher program that was the problem! I've been dealing with this for months! This is such a relief.

    One board member has already suggested installing Itunes 7 on another computer and importing the installed files directly onto the 'problematic system.'
    Unfortunantly, this doesn't work fo all. Therefore I am hoping that this thread becomes a 'ground central' for this problem. Has anyone tried anything else that works? Does anyone at Apple have any idea as to why the installation stalls at this point?
    Thanks,

  • Registering Modules

    Someone help please! I have been trying to install iTunes since Christmas Day and keep having the same problem. When I am installing, the installer screen freezes on "Registering Modules." I have uninstalled and completely deleted SpyCatcher, but it didn't help. I have deleted and redownloaded iTunes and QuickTime about a thousand times. Does anyone have a solution?

    ... afraid i do know what you're talking about. but we've been having a reasonable amount of success recently with getting past this one.
    the best place to start is with the following document:
    iTunes 7 or later for Windows Installation stops responding while "registering modules"
    ... but if no joy there, and if you have SpyCatcher installed on the PC, try uninstalling SpyCatcher altogether prior to attempting an itunes install. if the itunes install then goes through properly, you can then reinstall SpyCatcher.

  • Upgrade failed...itunes wont start....hangs on registering modules

    have tried numerous times to complete installation, all fail at registering modules. cant uninstall previous because its not listed in add and remove programs. deleted itunes folder under program files since nothing else worked. this step didnt either.
    in task manager, noticed cpu useage is 100%. there are six instances of msiexec.exe running. four at 00 and two at 50 apiece.
    all antivirus and spyware programs disabled for install too.
    a simple "forced" upgrade to the latest version tonight and now itunes is lost and wont work.
    thanks apple.
    hp pavillion   Windows XP

    I've had exactly the same problem (in fact I always have a problem installing i-tunes) I've tried using the MS Installation Cleanup Utility, deleting the Quicktime files from my program files and System32 folders, turned of anti virus and anti spyware and it still didnt work...
    ...But after reading your post I noticed that I too had several instances of msiexec (four in my case). While the installation was still hanging on module registration, I opened task manager and shut down the processes, as soon as I did the registration completed!
    I know it's not too scientific but it worked. It may depend on the order in which you stop the processes - give it a go, it might just work.

  • Installing Safari on windows XP Pro Hangs at trying to Registering  Modules

    Tried both versions of Safari 303 Beta.
    The install with Safari with iTunes
    and install with just Satari hangs with the
    dialog displaying "Registering Modules"
    After killing the install process misexec.exe is left running.
    The brower never gets installed according to "Add/Remove Software"

    I've found a doc regarding iTunes 7 "registering modules" lock up: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304541.
    I hope it will be helpful.

  • Mobile account doesn't complete initial creation and sync process

    I'm trying to setup a mobile account for a network account but it won't complete the sync process on the client MacBook Pro. Both the server and the MacBook Pro are running 10.5.5.
    When I login to client it prompts me to create a Mobile account and proceeds with the sync to create the account, but when the sync is complete it just logs in with the default account setup. None of the user files or settings (desktop image, preferences, etc) appear. The sync process says "Checking..." for all the files that supposedly get copied to the client, but it looks like it doesn't complete.
    Is there a way of knowing what the problem is? Is there an issue with the user's home directory, some file that prevents the sync and mobile home creation from completing?
    Thanks.

    I solved this myself. The user ended up have a folder on his desktop that contained a backup home folder from an old powerbook that he was trying to save. It was a complete home folder, Documents, Library, etc and I thought it might be interfering with the sync of the normal home folder. So I created a folder called Bad Stuff in the home folder and copied the old powerbook home folder into it. Then opened up the Sync Settings and excluded the Bad Stuff folder from the sync. And it worked, the sync when fine and is resyncing fine.
    Hope that helps with other people with a similar problem.

    That's not quite the proper way as far as I can tell. Usually, one boots directly into the Recovery HD using COMMAND and R keys at startup. If you cannot do that then most likely there is a problem with the hard drive. Since this is a new computer i would make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

    Hi Mandi
    Two thoughts. Your Mac is struggeling about how to get organized.
    - free space on internal hard disk should read more than 10Gb and even
    rather like 25GB
    - The hard disk that You store Your movie on can be in wrong format
    ∆ is it formatted OK (if only one = internal it's most probably OK)
    ∆ external hard disks MUST BE - Mac OS Extended formatted to work
    • DOS/UNIX/Mac Exchange - won't do !
    - The hard disk can be untidy:
    ∆ Run: Repair Permissions (Apple Disk Util tool)
    ∆ Run: Repair Hard disk (Apple Disk Util tool) (You need to start from CD/DVD
    or externa hard disk)
    ∆ AND - delete iMovie pref file (or start a new account / log into this and re-try.
    (will do the same but it discards even more eventually faulty files)
    Yours Bengt W

  • TS1424 ITune download continues to process but doesn't complete. What could be the issue

    ITune download continues to process but doesn't complete. What could be the issue

    If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
    Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
    Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
    Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.
