Registering Planning app with shared services

Hello all.
I created a new classic planning app (11.1.1) with the intention of mirroring our production app. I've copied that outline from the production app to the new app. I've also exported the sql server database used by the production planning app and restored it to the new app. Everything seems fine so far.
My question is about the registration of the new app in shared services. The production app has about 35 MSAD authenticated users. What would be the process for registering the new app with shared services and setting up users from the production app. I didn't specifically register the new app when it was created.
I'm a little apprehensive. I don't want to do anything that might affect the current production app. How can I register the new app and add users without affecting the current production app. Is it as simple as going to Administration -> Applications Settings and clicking on "Register Shared Services" and setting up new users? Or are there other steps that need to occur?
Any help is very much appreciated.
dave

You shouldn't need to register as you would of created a blank planning application at first that will be registered with Shared Serices, then the provisoning of users/groups in shared services for the planning application would be done, then you would migrate the relational database across.
You wil probably need to edit the shared services URL from within planning but no need to reregister.

  • Registering an application with Shared Services

I just used HfmCopyApplication.exe to migrate an application from out production environment to a newly installed test environment. However, when I open in the HFM System 9 thick client in the test environment and try to "Open Application", I can see the new application listed (so I know the migration was successful), but I get a message saying "+This application is not registered with Hyperion Shared Services. Please contact your administrator.+"
Can anyone provide some insight? I don't know how to register an application that was migrated from another environment, and I'm hesitant to create a new application with the same name because I don't want to accidentally wipe the one out that was just migrated over. I've looked through the documentation for the HfmCopyApplication, but it only says that I need to register the migrated app with Shared Services... It doesn't tell me how.
    Thanks.

that usually means that Workspace has not been configured to know that HFM is in the environment as well, or that for some reason you don't have access to that option.
On the machine where Workspace web component has been installed you will need to run the System 9 configuration utility and choose the task "Reporting and Analysis" and "Configure Web Server". When you get to the screen which asks you to specify the hostname and port of the individual web servers (Financial Reporting, Web Analysis etc) make sure that HFM is ticked on (checked) and that the hostname and port for the HFM web server are correct (should be port 80). Complete the steps with Next Next Next and Finish, then restart both the Apache http server and the Workspace web server (Tomcat/Weblogic/Websphere etc). After that, the next time you log in to Workspace and go to Navigate->Administer you should see the options relating to HFM.
If it is still not there, go to Help->About->Version Details and check that a version for Financial Management component is displayed. If a version number is displayed then it something to do with your access rights (maybe a Creator / Administrator group has been set in the HFM Server / Web Config utility, try to remove it and try again?). If no version number is displayed then Workspace still doesn't know about HFM component (the above step hasn't worked).
If you are not sure speak to the person who did the installation, or if you have a support contract with Oracle then contact Oracle support.

  • How to register HFM aplication with Shared services

    Hi,
    Version 11.1.2
I am new to this version and asking help how to register HFM application with shared services.
In ver 9.3.1 we register in config utility.
    Regards
    Kumar

You should start the EPM system configurator, it is the same concept as earlier versions, just the look and feel is slightly different.

  • How to register Essbase server with Shared Services?

    Hello All,
How to register Essbase server with Shared Services?

    Hello All,
How to register Essbase server with Shared Services?

  • Planning Appl not able to register and unregister with shared services

    Hi All,
I created a planning application before that I created a datasource. After crearting an application I got an error as Application  not able to register with shared services .
And also I am facing one more issue that is if I delete any particular planning application at that time I got an error as Application  not able to unregister with shared services.
I am able to open the planning application through http://<planningmachine>:8300/HyperionPlanning/AppWizard.jsp and its working fine. I am able to open the Shared Services though Workspace but I am not able to find the option for planning application.
Kindly guide me how to overcome it.
    Thanks and Regards
    ChiDam

Have you checked the logs? Found something?
This normally happens when there is issue with Planning app and cluster mapping. For some reason, the application maps to non-existent cluster in Planning system schema resulting in failure of HSS registration. you can manually re associate the cluster using configuration tool and try registering again.
    Cheers..!!

  • Can't register Hyperion Workspace with Shared Services

When I used Hyperion EPM System Configurator 11.1.1.1 to register workspace with Shared Services, it failed. Can someone provide possible reasons? I'm using Apache HTTP Server.

    Hi
    Try with the following steps:
    1. Ensure Shared Service is already installed.
    2. Ensure OpenLDAP and SharedService is running.
    3. If SharedService is properly running you would be able to access it. (i.e. http://<your_machine_ip>:28080/interop
    4. Check if workspace group already created or not. (BI+)
    5. If created , delete it.
    6. Try with the register option for workspace again.(Only select Workspace no child object need to be selected to to register workspace).
    Thanks

  • Planning App Settings - Shared Services URL grayed out

I am int he process of doing a clean install of epm 11.1.2.2. I have created a planning app in and the shared services url under application settings is incorrect. The name of the RDB server was picked up instead of the planning server. I need to change this because lcm is unable to get artifact listing for planning app. Does anyone know how or where I would go to change this? The operating system is Windows 2008 R2 with a MSSQL for the RDB.

    Hi John,
I tried unregistering and reregistering, logged into the app through workspace which didn't change anything. I haven't been able to locate the url to connect directly to planning. Can you help? Also, I wanted to mentioned that in the earlier version of planning, 11.1.1.2, the shared services URL is not grayed out. When I saw that I thought it might be a security issue but the user has full rights.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Why register planning apps ?

    Hi All,
A simple question, I cann't understand why you must register planning apps into shared service after it's built ?
After all, you have selected the HSS model for the new apps when you create it.
    Thanks.
    Eva

You shouldnt have to register it after it has been built, why do you say you do?

  • Register with Shared Services 11.1.1.4 / AIX / WAS

    Hello Admins,
I'm working on an installation of EPM Interactive reporting. The environment is AIX 6.1 with manual deployment in Websphere Application Server 6.1.
Shared services manual deployment was successful and comes up OK.
Moving onto the Workspace configuration tasks, the Register with Shared Services task fails. In past versions, the configuration utility would ask you the location of where Hyperion Shared Services is installed. In version 11.1.1.4 there are no options at all!
The error is very basic, communication error--
(Jun 21, 2012, 05:02:03 PM), com.hyperion.cis.config.CmsRegistrationUtil, ERROR, register operation failed in CMS:

Has anyone run into this before? Is there a way to manually register other products with Shared Services?
    Thanks for any help!

    Exactly!
I was hoping there was a manual method to force the registration with shared services. Since the configuration tool doesn't ASK you where SS is installed it must be pulling this information from somewhere, perhaps that could be manipulated?

  • Register with Shared Services Failing in 11.1.1.3

    Hi,
We installed 11.1.1.3 in Linux operating system and the application server is Websphere 6.1.After Installation and Configuration of EPM products we Externalized users from EAS Console and configured Active Directory in Shared Services and now want to migrate users of Existing Production environment to new Environment. For that created a new testgroup in Shared Services under Native Directory and when I am refreshing it's displaying an error as shown below:
Essbase failed to get roles list for [ESB:Analytic Server] from Shared Services Server with Error [32:1062:Failed to connect to the user directory [msadServer]
    Can anyone suggest on this.
    Any help is appreciated...

This usually happens when the application exists in Essbase but does not exist in Shared Services.
To resolve this you need to go into the AAS console, right click on the Sample application and select the 'REGISTER' option.
This will register the application with Shared Services. You should then see the application listed in Shared Services under the Analytic Server project.
You will need to make sure that the list of applications in the Analytic Server matches the list of applications under the project in Shared Services. If you have any other applications missing then please register those as well.

    Jasmine.

  • New Essbase install - fail at "Register with Shared services

    Hi all,
I'm configuring up a new LINUX ( Redhat ) server to run Essbase 11.1 and the installation fails at the point where, in the configtool (using this in GUI mode not command line ) it's registering the components with Shared Services. In the configtool logs file I see:
(Jul 20, 2010, 02:47:19 PM), com.hyperion.cis.config.CmsRegistrationUtil, ERROR, Failed to authenticate user = admin
    (Jul 20, 2010, 02:47:19 PM), com.hyperion.cis.config.wizard.RunAllTasksWizardAction, ERROR, Error:
    Error Code: -1
com.hyperion.css.common.configuration.CSSConfigurationException: 20:3008:Failed to connect to native directory. Error Code: 9
On a previous install, I had exactly the same problem, and this was resolved by increased the number of processes on the Oracle XE instance that the shared services was using. However we already tried that and its not the problem. All processes seem to start up OK and if I browse to http://server:28080/interop it gives me the EPM web page, but if I select "Launch Appliction" it opens another window with a error "An error was encountered while performing this operation".
I've tried reinstalling, dropping the HSS schema, stop starting all services and mixtures of all but to no avail.
    Can anyone advise.
    Thanks

Just for info, the we don't have any form of "admin" user that is used anywhere so we're not sure where this is coming from.

  • Registration of Analytic Services with Shared Services

    Hello All,
We are installing the Hyperion system 9.2 suite with Planning & Essbase.
Following advised processes, we installed analytic services & tried to register the product with shared services, using the configuration utility. Even though the operation is declared as "succeded", we are unable to provision any user to Analytic services in Shared services, which is a proof that the registration failed.
Is there any particular action to be done to get this operation succeeded?
    Thanks for your help.
    Mike.

  • Issue with shared services - Need Urgent Help please!!

    Hello Experts
One of my customer has installed a new instance of oracle and copied all the schemas and data over to the new instance.
Now when they bring up shared services, have lost all our provisioning. None of the projects are recognized by shared serices and gets the following error when we try to bring up a user
'xxxxx' is not a recognized Shared Services project. Please contact your adminstrator
Is there something we need to do to restore Shared Services to its original state?
    Thanks in advance.

    hi,
I doubt that "creating a new instance of oracle and copied all the schemas and data over to the new instance" will register the project with shared service and thats why giving error. Because when you install shared service, it asks you about the database name (oracle in your case) to register with. So even if you overwrite that database by new instance it gives error.
Have you tried the configuration utilty ? Over there you can provide the new database instanse as your database and configure your shared service. Remember that you need to do a complete configuration of shared service , analytic administration services and analytic services. After configuring, Restart the system.....it should work.
    Hope this helps!

  • Planning V11 Installation - Register with Shared Services: Failed

    Hi,
I have just installed the Hyperion Planning Version 11. The installation was a piece of cake. I selected all the relevant components and the installer took care of the installation and the installation sequence. When I tried the configuration, I went ahead with the configuration of foundation services first and decided to do the rest of the components later. When I completed the shared services configuration I started the configuration of the remaining components.
All of the various elements got configured correctly except for Registration with Shared Services. I have since then restarted the machine several times, made sure Shared Services is running (I can also login to interop from the browser - however provisioning features arent working), and I have essentially redone the whole configuration again and again.
    Can anyone please advise?
    Shehzad

    Hi,
Glad to hear you think the installation was a piece of cake!!
I think you may get this error when configuring a product selecting "perform first time configuration".
Are you using a single repository for all your products?
Could you maybe recreate new databases, including shared services and try again?

  • Failed to register Planning with Shared Services

    Hi,
I am trying to configure Hyperion Planning and it says "failed" for all the components. It doesn't want to reconfigure Shared Sevices either.
    I am using EPM 11.1.1.3.
    Can someone help?
    Thank you!

I have finally managed to install and configure all the components, and when I try to log in to workspace I either get the message error: "1009902" or I log in and I can't find Planning Administration in Navigate->Administer->Classic Application Administration->Planning Administration. I have previously created using Shared Services a new application group called Planning. Plus, Shared Services only works if I periodically restart the database services, otherwise I get a communication error, either when loading the view pane, or when loading tree data etc.
And when I try to access the following url: http://servername:8300/HyperionPlanning/AppWizard.jsp, i receive the following error:
"The requested resource (/HyperionPlanning/AppWizard.jsp) is not available."
