Registering Quicktime Pro only possible in a few countries?

Hello,
I recently wanted to upgrade to Quicktime Pro, but found out that I can only purchase a registration key from an online Apple Store, which, unfortunately is available only in select few countries. I would understand the hardware store, but shouldn't registering software be available to anyone anywhere with a valid credit card?
I don't mean to rant, but this seems a bit wierd, since developers usually encourage people to register their software properly. My question is, is there any other way of legally purchasing Quicktime Pro? If not, maybe someone with a PayPal account can help me out?
Thanks.

Why?
because iPod Touch does not support disk mode. click here for information.

  • I registered quicktime pro but it's nowhere to be found. Help!

I paid for Quicktime Pro and entered the registration code and got a message "Thank you for registering Quicktime Pro" but I don't see it anywhere. I've restarted a couple of times. My Mac OS X version is 10.5.8. The Quicktime Player version is 7.6.9. I saw something on the web that said I'll need the operating system DVD, can that be right?? I'm not sure I ever had one, my Macbook came with everything installed. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

For all I knew, not finding obvious evidence of QT Pro in your QT Player immediately after registration was a common problem (as indeed I notice from the discussions that it is) with a quick, common answer (wrong again)
The most obvious evidence is that as soon as your name and registration key is recognized, the QT logo changes from the simple "Q" to a "Q" with the word "Pro" superimposed over it. In addition, the phrase "QuickTime 7 Pro" is displayed under the "Registration Code:" entry and the "Buy" button disappears from the window. All of these things occur in the registration window. Less obvious but more important to the QT 7 Pro user, a number of previously grayed out options become user accessible as soon as a QT compatible file is opened in a Player window.
I really didn't think anybody would be particularly interested in my work flow.
By knowing the work flow, it is often easy to determine if a problem is in the application, the system, the system configuration, or the work flow itself.
But yes, I am compliant and the files are all saved to iphoto libraries, they just can't go anywhere from there, and so I'm concluding that Flip files are NOT compatible with QuickTime or iMovie, at least in the particular configuration I have, and I guess that's fine because there aren't even going to be be Flip cameras much longer.
The fact that the files will import to iPhoto indicates the data in a file container that is compatible with QT. The fact that the files cannot be imported to iMovie indicates the files either contain compression formats that are not QT "edit" compatible or they contain tracks of data that are not iMovie compatible. If the files will not open in the QT 7 Pro Player, then that tells us the compression format(s) are not QT "playback" compatible which usually means you are missing a QT component required to decode one or more of the data tracks. Once you know this, the normal thing to do is to determine what component you need to install on your system if available.
One way to do this if the file can't be opened in the QT Player is to open the Finder "Info" window for the file and see if it recognizes the compression format. If it does, well and good. If not, you would normally try an alternative media player which supplies its own codec within the player. VLC is one of the most popular media players for this purpose. Simply open the file in VLC and see if it plays. If it does, you simply open the "Window/Media Information" window, expand the stream info area to learn audio and video codecs used to encode the file data. Once you know this, you can see if a component is available for installation. This entire process is quite logical with the results of each step pointing the way to the next action to be accomplished. Thus, the work flow and descriptions of what happens become very import to the process of diagnosing the cause of your problems.
So, having said this, what type of file containers (file extension) are involved here and what compression format(s) do they contain? (I.e., in the past different Flip cameras have used different file/format combinations with some changing the file/format combination depending on the "quality" setting currently being used to record the video.

  • Is it possible to register quicktime pro to multiple computers?

If i previously purchased quicktime pro and registered it to my old computer, is it possible to unregister it and reregister it to my new computer without having to re-buy the software again?

I'm not a lawyer but what you're doing sounds reasonable.
If you've purchased retail software (say Photoshop) and bought a new computer you can move it over to the new machine. Why not QuickTime Pro?
The rules say one computer per Pro registration. Removing it from one and entering it on another is still just one computer.
Make sure it is for version 7. A version 6 registration will not work.

  • I can't register quicktime pro

I have the free version of quicktime 7 and I just bought quicktime 7 pro at applestore.com but I can't register it.
I quick quicktime and opened system preferences, clicked quicktime and chose register. Then I typed in my name and the registration code exactly as they appear in the conformation e-mail. The only buttons available to click at the bottom are "about quicktime" and "buy quicktime pro," so I just hit enter, hoping that would work. The words invalid registration appeared.
I have tried this over and over, for hours, but can't seam to figre out what the problem is. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. Thanks

  • Can't register quicktime pro

    Hi folks,
I'm been struggling for much too long now to try to resolve my problem, so I've come to the experts (yes...I have surfed and surfed this website and user documentation and more!  I'm hoping the resolution is not too obvious and I'm being dense).
I have an iMac (older than dirt, but still functioning), with Mac OSX v. 10.6.8.
I been using Quicktime Pro successfully for some time and have a key for it. When I was upgraded to QuickTime Player Version 10.0 (131), the ability to use the full version of Quicktime disappeared. (e.g., I have no place to insert my registration code). I've searched everyone (even my system folder) and it's not presenting me with an opportunity to register again.  Most annoying.
What am I missing? Any suggestions?  I've added a screen shot so you can see my dilemma.
Any and all help is very much appreciated.

There is no need to remove QuickTime X. Snow Leopard and Lion users can have two completely different versions of QuickTime.
If you had QuickTime Player Pro prior to your Snow Leopard install then its only been moved to the Utilities folder.
If you bought it after the Snow Leopard install then you would have to enter the registration info by opening QuickTime Player 7.6.6 and look under the Player menu for "Registration".

  • Registering Quicktime Pro to Quicktime 6

hey, I just purchased a product key for quicktime pro, but I only have OSX so I cant install quicktime 7. Can I still upgrade to pro? When I try to upgrade it says my information is invalid...
    Quicktime Version is 6.5.2
    Thanks.

Thanks Niel. I got it working, only now I am not able to do what I originally set out to do. I shot a short film this summer on a Sony HDV camera, 720p. I am trying to play the footage back on my computer, and an apple employee told me to purchase quicktime pro 7, which i have done... still unable to play back the footage. Any ideas??

  • How do I register Quicktime Pro?

    Hello:
How can I register my Quicktime Pro?

    EdChew wrote:
Im actually running 10.8.4 and it is what is in my profile I just checked.
Your profile actually isn't being posted, so no one here will have any idea what you're running unless you include that in your post. And the post to which you replied was made well over a year ago in response to Douglas, the person who created this thread. Just FYI.
i was thinking that it would leave the screen of where i entered the # or say in the heading Quicktime pro instead of continuing to say Quicktime 7. Yes I bought Mac and yes I copied it from the email confirmation.
Some more positive confirmation would be nice, but QuickTime doesn't give one. All that will happen is that the logo will change to the "Q" with the "pro" tag and the "pro" labels will disappear from the menu commands.

  • Why is Quicktime Pro only for Quicktime 7??

I just bought an upgrade to Quicktime Pro, but it is for Quicktime 7. My Mac seems to be Quicktime 10 and the instalation istructions don't work.
Why did the Apple store sell me an upgrade that is 3 versions out of date?
How can I get Quicktime Pro for my version of Quicktime?

    Hi there!
I am a Mac newbie - just switched from Windows about 4 weeks ago.
    I am confused!
My MacBook Pro came with QuickTime Player 10. I have downloade QuickTime Player 7 from the link Niel provided. I install it. But Version 10 still shows in my applications! Even after I reboot my Mac.
I purchased the Pro upgrade and obviously cannot register it until I figure out how to get 7 to appear.
Help! How do I get my MacBook to recognize Version 7?
Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Registered quicktime pro but it won't let me use the fitures, asks me to buy it

I purchased quicktime pro and registered. It still asks me to purchase when I try to use.

What I mean is what is happening when you try to buy the movie? Does the cost of the movie exceed to amount of the gift card? Many areas/states/countries add a sales tax or a VAT to the purchase that will exceed the card amount.
    what exactly is happening? Describe?

  • Having troubling registering quicktime pro

I downloaded the correct version of quicktime and received the quicktime pro registration key but when i try to enter it, it keeps prompting me to buy quicktime pro, however i already purchased it.

When you start QT 7 player, under the first menu there is a "Registration" menu item.
Enter your name and Registration code, THEN hit the TAB KEY. Do not click the "Buy..." button.
    That should do it.
Make sure you have the CORRECT version of QT 7:

  • Trouble Registering Quicktime Pro

I've done everything it said to do in order to "unlock" Quicktime Pro, but NOTHING works. Help perhaps?

Open the Quicktime program. Under the Quicktime menu-->Quicktime Player-->About Quicktime Player...a window will pop up. Is there a small logo next to the large Quicktime logo to says PRO? If so you have correctly installed the registration code and you do have Quicktime Pro.
