Registering webOS account

Hello,
I was recently given an HP Touchpad but the previous owner had not given me their 4-digit password. I reset the device and am now back to the "what country/language" steps. Then, it asks to create a webOS account. How do I do this? I have NO information about the device (except the serial number), NO idea what the person's webOS account could even be, and NO idea how to go about setting up a new one. Anytime I Google it, all I see is the page to sign into an existing account and a link in case you forgot your password. How do I COMPLETELY START OVER? I am not able to get in touch with the person who previously owned this device to ask about their account and I just want to be able to use it. Help!

It's a warranty repair, so if still within a year's time of ownership then it should be free.
However, since I'm not an employee of HP, I can't guarantee the terms might have changed.
A call to their support number still is in order...

Are you creating the account at linksyssmartwifi.com with a web browser first, then using the registered account name and PW, then log into the router and input this infornmation there to get the router associated?Redbullssg wrote:

Sorry, but no help is possible. You can only use the UAE iTunes Store, and Apple can only offer what content they are able to license for sale in that country. You'll have to look elsewhere for content. Whether there are any other download stores able to sell in the UAE I don't know. You may need to purchased CDs and import them into iTunes.

iTunes Store: Which types of items can I buy in my country?
First, click the round flag icon bottom right corner of the iTunes Store window to select your country.
Then click Store > Sign In from the iTunes menu bar the click View Account.
You can select a payment method from the Account Information window.

Can't create webOS account.

I just bought TouchPad, startup it, chosen a wifi, and have appeared window with creating webOS account. I filled in all fields and pressing create, after appears warning message (We are unable to create an account for you. Please try in a few minutes or contact HP for help resolving this problem.)
I do this more than 30 times along a day, but nothing changes.
What happend?
Can I create an account in some different place ?

Are you sure it's connecting to your WiFi source? Are you talking about a home network with your own router? Try cycling power to the router, then attempt to create the account.
You could also try rebooting the TouchPad - go to the "Device Info" app, then tap the "Reset Options" button and the "Restart" button after that.
If still no joy, I'd follow the suggestion given you - call HP's webOS Butler service.. See this page for info:

Bought Demo Touchpad model, should I use Secure Full Erase to make WebOS account?

Hello All,
Just picked up a new HP Touchpad Tablet today and working out the kinks in it. Fairly decent so far but coming up on a new WebOS Account snag. The tablet I purchased was the stores demo model which is apparently already setup with a generic demo floor profile. Unfortunately apparently you can only create a new WebOS Account through the initial setup wizard upon turning on the new device for the first time. At this point would it be best for me to use the "Secure Full Erase" options in the system settings to reset it to a factory default mode and would it prompt me to create a new account/profile as if I just bought it in store brand new?

You could try the erase and see what happens. My guess is you'll end up having to run the 3.02/68 doctor file to clean it completely up.

Sign In Failed to my WebOS account, after re-doctor 2.24

so I refreshed official 2.24 because sth weird on my Pre 3.
But then I tried to sign in webos account with correct username and password and I got "Sign in failed" error.
what is more weird, I clicked forgot password and it does display my security question, and let me change the password. But then still sign in fail. So at least I know that the phone does connect to 3G network and can communicate with its server, but just doesn't let me sign in...
I tried to create new webos profile, but it failed, too.
Could you please help?

I Doctored my wife's Pixi last night and had the same exact problem. I ended up changing the webOS Account (Palm Profile) password. Then tried signing in again and got going that time. I wonder if the Profiles have been damaged? I used the HP webOS Account webpage to change the password, rather than doing it through the phone.

I would like to delete my online WebOS account from the PalmWS server - https://ps.palmws.com/palmcsext/console/pages/LoginPage.iface but can't find an option to do do. I want all of my data, profile, gone.

I read somewhere that if you just stop using it, it'll auto-expire/delete but don't remember how long it was. But that means stop using all webOS devices that are on that account.

Change WebOS account

I just sold one of my touchpads to someone but we are unable to add a new WebOS account. I would like to remove my WebOS account and create on for her, but there is no obvious way to do this. Do I need to reset the Touchpad and start over?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Open up the Device Info application and select the Reset Options button at the bottom. Choose any of the Red options (except the Erase USB Drive option... that won't work for what you want to do) to reset your TouchPad. Once you reboot, you'll be asked to create a new HP webOS Account or sign in to an existing one.

Unable to create webOS account to set up HP Touchpad

Alright, so I got my Touchpad Saturday, and tried to set it up the day after. So in order to actually use it, you have to create a webOS account, but every time I try, I get the error "We are unable to create an account for you. Please try again in a few minutes or contact HP for help resolving this problem. Visit palm.com/support for more information." I tried countless times, still getting the same error, even after starting the setup process over, restarting the touchpad and my router, trying different wireless connections, trying it at different times during the day, as well as changing the security question, password and email to see if that had an effect. I have tried going to the site suggested and trying to chat online with them, as well as calling them, but they were busy, so I was hoping I could find an answer here.

I too am having the same problems and can't get the WebOS Doctor because I don't have the palm account. There has to be a way to download the doc without an account.

i gave you the offline installer. just click on the link i have given above, and download it on your "desktop"
when you got it, double click on it (run) and start installation.

What is ment by security code when you register your account?

IM trying to register my account so I don't knew what is meant by security code

Are you getting this request when you are being asked to put in your credit card in formation? If so, it's the three-digit code on the back of the card (Visa, Mastercard) or the four-digit code on the front (Amex).
