Registration Incentives

Forgive me if this has been covered before. Adobe still seem to have forums with the functionality of the mid-1990s, so it's hard to find duplicate postings.
In a nutshell, I bought a copy of In Design CS4 (full version), completed the registration process and have not been provided with any information about how to obtain the "free gift" for people who register (I believe they have stuff like Free Fonts, Training Videos etc like they did in CS3).
Can someone explain to me how I go about obtaining this? It's a bit much to spend nearly $1,000 on a single application (the price here in Japan) and not even get the little gift at the end of it.
Thanks.

I JUST this week DID get my promotional gift.  I sent a letter to the
Corporate office and received a call back and resolution.  I HAD spoken  with a
supervisor on one of my previous calls.  Thanks fro your response  though!!!

Please call Adobe Customer  Support again and explicitly request to speak

  • Motion 2.0.1 registration and free filters

Recently I updated using motion 2.0 registration incentive with the 3 filters movement blur, underwater, and insect eye.
They are in the folders, but when you open the motion application the filters do not show up.
Even when I got to the folder and double the filter, I am getting the message.... The following items used to create this project is missing.... end quote.
Even the Final Cut Studio 5.0.4 is up to date so I am a bit lost of what I have missed ..... can any one help ...

    Thanks for the tip,
I actually think that Apple got it wrong for the users of Motion 2.0, that the Motion 2.0.1 update and registration incentive for Motion 2.0 which includes three new Motion filters is a miss print. It appears that it for Motion 2.1.
I looked in the HD/Library/Receipts and looked at the Preview, the Version appears 2.1, no I did not download the wrong version, as I went the correct site and follwed the correct instruction.
I have tried ti re-download Motion 2.0 registration Incentive but the site tells that I have aleady downloded the Motion update.
So if the filters are showing in the folders why is it not showing when the application is open. ??? I have done everything that has been suggested over and over, read it, done it and it is very frustrating. ??

  • CS6 Registration gift

Do you not get a registration gift when buying CS6 through Creative Cloud?
I was hoping to get the 30 days free trial on Lynda.com as I did when i bought CS4.

    Hi,
Due to the automatic nature of registration for Creative Suite 6 there will not be a Product Registration Incentive Offer.   In the past we offered the free gifts to help encourage users to register their products.
Right now with CS 6, the product automatcally gets registered as soon as you activate with your Adobe ID

  • Upgrading from Illustrator 10:  CS2 or CS3? (CS4 and CS5 do not run on my Mac)

Provided I'm able to find a legitimate copy of the upgrade version from a reputable source, which one is the highest Mac version that one can upgrade from Illustrator 10?  CS2 or CS3?  Higher versions won't run on my PPC Mac anyway.
I'm asking now because I just finished upgrading my ancient Acrobat Standard 5.x to Acrobat Professional 8 for under $29, shipped.  It turned out to be a sealed, unopened box, and I've registered it with Adobe already and collected the registration incentive received from Adobe (11 hours of training at lynda.com).
Any input will be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    CS4 requires OS10.4.11 or newer.
Basically, you can go all the way to CS4 or anything short of that. Without moving past the PPC chip and OS10.4.11.
Since CS4 will work, CS3 will certainly work. I believe CS3 required OS 10.4.8 or newer. Checking my disk.... yup 10.4.8 or newer. I would simply look for whatever you can find, short of CS5. That itself may sort out what you can purchase.
Actually thinking upgrades.. you're right. Only 3 versions. So for "upgrade" you're limited to CS3 from Ai10. CS3 will run great on a PPC with 10.4.11. I'd search for that if possible. I wouldn't settle for CS2.

  • InContext - A Suggestion to Adobe

Rather than tack this on to another thread, I thought it best to put this on the forum as a direct suggestion...
Adobe, why not offer the ICE service to the legitimate owners of your software as a registration incentive?
At present, the suggested scheme of a paid service is like selling us a kettle then charging us again for boiling water in it. Our web hosts are the equivalent of the electricity supplier and we pay them for having our sites online. If the proposed fee has any bearing on using the service through your servers, please provide clear documentation so we can use the service whilst hosting on our own servers.

I understand Christinel as an Adobe employee, you would see it that way. Whilst I understand the distinction you are making, you can not separate the service from the tools.
InContext is an Adobe technology, but all the tools to utilise the service are supplied in a commercial Adobe product (DW), which is designed and promoted by Adobe primarily to web designers (actually users of Adobe DW specifically). The tools are not included in the cheaper editing software app Contribute. The tools are put into DW so we can use them, this is clear.
As a user of Adobe products, I like many others I see on the forums with justifiable concerns, feel Adobe would be less antagonistic in this issue if they could let us host the service ourselves. I come back to my analogy of being sold a kettle (water included in the form of the ICE toolset) and being asked to pay a third-party to boil the water.
Better still, acknowledge that we have already paid a lot of money for the product and give us the service as a registration incentive please!

  • Dreamweaver developer toolkit

During the month of November, a person mentioned in a forum
that Adobe was offering the DW developer toolkit free as a
promotion if you purchased DW CS3. I called Adobe and it was
verified. I chose at that time to do the trial version. Now I would
like to purchase DW CS3 along with the toolkit. Unfortunately I
cannot find the forum answer (been searching many forums and many
pages) where they mentioned this promotion and of course nobody at
Adobe remembers it. Does anybody remember such a promotion??

The extension "Export Recordset as XML" has always been one
of several possible DW CS3 registration incentives -- however,
apart from being offered as incentive, this extension is a
component of the Developer Toolbox, so it seems that whoever said
this at whatever forum simply got it wrong.

I found it ... I needed to add a line to the pngSaveOptions (around line #886) ...

  • Export Recordest to XML help, please

I'm trying to display my database info using Spry in CS4. In
CS3 there was a utility called "Export Recordest to XML" that was
part of the toolkit, but was also available as a registration
incentive. Is this functionality now built into CS4?
I guess what I' m really looking for is a tutorial on how to
bring data in directly from the database to the webpage. I've seen
the video of how to do it from a static HTML page, but that doesn't
    help here.
I've also seen this page (
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/samples/utils/query2xml.html)
but it doesn't offer any practical info for how to actually
implement this into a dreamweaver/spry page.
What is frustrating (aside from my own lack of knowledge) is
that one of the original raison d'être for Dreamweaver and its
ancestors, was the creation of dynamic sites from databases by
people who were somewhat programming challenged.
Maybe it is all there and I'm just missing it, but I would
    truly appreciate any help.

Once you have your page that creates the xml, just use that
    link in spry
as your datasource. Ignore the fact that it doesn't end in
    xml, that
doesn't matter, as the output content type is xml, so it will
    be treated
    like xml.

  • Lists of fonts by Adobe application

Does Adobe publish list(s) of fonts by application?  I don't believe it exists, but it would be useful.  I am trying to track down the application that installed Hypatia Sans Pro (for one of my users on their old PC, but now need it re-installed on their upgraded PC).  From a little research, it appeared like it should be included with CS3 Design Premium, but after installing it, the font is still not present.

You can find a list of fonts installed by each CS version at http://blogs.adobe.com/typblography/fonts-installed-by-adobes-creative-suite
The fonts installed by individual apps are the same.
Hypatia Sans Pro was never bundled with any app or suite. The six upright fonts were one of the registration incentive gifts of CS3 http://blogs.adobe.com/typblography/2007/04/hypatia_sans.html

  • Creative Suite vs. InDesign CS vs. Illustrator CS bundled fonts

This is a complicated issue, which I hope can be clarified by this summary.
With InDesign CS by itself, there are 66 fonts, many of which are new for the CS version. Apparently these are included with the educational version as well. This includes fonts from the Adobe Jenson Pro, Lithos Pro, Myriad Pro and Trajan Pro families. See here for a complete list:
Thomas Phinney, "InDesign CS bundled OpenType fonts" #, 18 Oct 2003 12:26 am">Thomas Phinney "InDesign CS bundled OpenType fonts" 10/18/03
With Illustrator CS by itself, there are 102 fonts, about 31 of which do not overlap with the fonts bundled with InDesign CS. This includes fonts from the Chaparral Pro and Charlemagne Std families. See here for a complete list:
Thomas Phinney "Illustrator CS bundled OpenType fonts" 10/18/03
The other CS apps do not individually add meaningfully to the bundled font count.
However, with the Creative Suite as a package, there are up to 211 fonts: the 138 fonts included with the individual apps; the Warnock Pro Opticals set (32 fonts); plus if you register online in the US and Canada, you can download the Brioso Pro Opticals fonts (42 fonts). Note that Brioso is one of several choices you have of registration incentives, and you need to be sure to look for and follow the link! You can get it later from your main store registration page if you miss it the first time, though.
The standard edition and premium edition of the suite have the same font bundle.
Details on the full bundle are here:

My Mac version of Adobe Creative Suite only contains the Warnock Pro font set. Having been informed by Adobe (and Apple) that Postscript Type 1 fonts were no longer supported in Panther, I was hoping that the CS fonts would get me started replacing some old favorites. But they are not there. The "Classroom in a Book" series suggests doing a custom install to install just the fonts but that is not an option, at least with the CS installer. Perhaps it is with the individual programs.
Is there a way for Mac users to get some or all of these bundled fonts without buying them individually from Adobe?

  • Greek, macrons, and other special glyphs? Recommended substitutions?

I had been under the impression that most modern Adobe OpenType fonts had support for glyphs like α (U+03B1, GREEK SMALL LETTER ALPHA)  and ā (U+0101, LATIN SMALL LETTER A WITH MACRON), and that the few cases I had found were mostly outliers. Today I became aware that I was mostly wrong, and would appreciate it if someone could explain what the situation really is; I was surprised to learn how wrong I was.
Most of my thinking is in the context of machines running Mac OS X with Font Folio 11 installed/available, if that's pertinent.
Miguel clarified a while ago that the macron characters were "only supported in font families with the suffix Pro, such as Minion Pro." I had missed it when he said it, or I guess internalized it wrongly. So I guess that means the macron characters are mostly available in the 24 Pro faces: Adobe Caslon Pro, Adobe Garamond Pro, Adobe Jenson Pro, Arno Pro, Bickham Script Pro, Brioso Pro, Caflisch Script Pro, Calcite Pro, Chaparral Pro, Cronos Pro, Ex Ponto Pro, Garamond Premier Pro, Lithos Pro, Minion Pro, Myriad Pro, Sanvito Pro, Sava Pro, Silentium Pro, Tekton Pro, Trajan Pro, Voluta Script Pro, Warnock Pro, Waters Titling Pro, Web Type Pro,
OK, well…fine. Then the next problem was Greek letters. Those seem to be…much more difficult to find? (I would have thought the opposite.)
Is there some tool for searching for these glyphs within Adobe's fonts? The Type Reference Guide says "Complete glyph complement pdfs can be
viewed or downloaded from the Adobe web site at www.adobe.com/type," but I can't seem to find an easy way to get to them (I guess the Flash interface sort of works? Is there a better one?).
Our house style currently uses Adobe's Utopia Std and Univers LT Std. For text in Utopia, when hunting for these glyphs, I had usually been in the habit of finding the glyphs in Times New Roman, and not worrying about it. Today I realized that that's not Adobe's Times New Roman (kind of a rude awakening), it's actually Monotype:Times New Roman Regular:Version 3.05 (Microsoft). So then I installed Adobe's Times New Roman MT Std and Times LT Std families, but they don't have the glyphs either.
Is there a recommended Adobe font that has these glyphs that is appropriate to substitute for Utopia? For Univers?
Maybe the more general question is whether there is mapping of "What font should I look in to find somewhat similar-looking glyphs when Adobe fonts are missing glyphs"?
Looking through the Type Reference Guide.pdf (or the printed 3rd edition reference library) is frustrating. I suppose I probably want a font with the icon for "Greek monotonic" or maybe "Greek polytonic" , but those seem to be encoded as special glyphs that are tough to search for.
If I search for the word "Greek," it looks like my only choices are these 7: Arno Pro, Garamond Premiere Pro, Lithos Pro, Minion Pro, Myriad Pro, Universal Std, and Warnock Pro.
Is that right, or am I missing some?
is this situation likely to improve anytime soon? Am I better off finding non-Adobe sources for these glyphs?
Utopia is a Robert Slimbach Adobe original, so I guess there are no other sources.
Univers is from Linotype, but they don't seem to sell and variants with greek glyphs?
Maybe the answer is that the folks who picked our house style made bad decisions. Though I'm really not sure? Sorry this is so long. Any thoughts much-appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi John,
Lots of questions. I'll try to address them as best I as can.
Is there some tool for searching for these glyphs within Adobe's fonts?
You can use the "Character Viewer" available in Mac OS X. The only requirement is that the font(s) need to be installed.
The Type Reference Guide says "Complete glyph complement pdfs can be viewed or downloaded from the Adobe web site at www.adobe.com/type," but I can't seem to find an easy way to get to them
Just go to any face page, e.g. Minion Pro Medium Subhead. There you'll find a link named Glyph Complement which will direct you to the PDF file.
Is there a recommended Adobe font that has these glyphs that is appropriate to substitute for Utopia?
No, not really. Kepler has a similar style, but it's also an Std family, not Pro, so it won't have the characters you need.
    For Univers?
No. The closest would be Myriad as they're both sans-serif. But the styles are different: Univers is a (neo)grotesque while Myriad is a humanist.
If I search for the word "Greek," it looks like my only choices are these 7: Arno Pro, Garamond Premiere Pro, Lithos Pro, Minion Pro, Myriad Pro, Universal Std, and Warnock Pro. Is that right, or am I missing some?
There's also Hypatia Sans, Sava, and Adobe Text (the latter is currently only avaialble as a CS5 registration incentive). List of fonts containing Greek.
The number of choices seems small when compared to the total number of font families available in the library. But Adobe was actually one of the first foundries that started including Greek and Cyrillic characters in their fonts on a regular basis. When you look at the Adobe Originals list you start seeing the trend.
is this situation likely to improve anytime soon?
Yes. All our newest families are Pro and include Greek and Cyrillic -- that's basically our minimum now -- and there are updates to existing families in the pipeline. But this will still take some time to become available.
Utopia is a Robert Slimbach Adobe original, so I guess there are no other sources.
Adobe actually donated Utopia fonts to the community, and while there has been some derivative work that extended it to cover Vietnamese and Cyrillic, AFAIK no one as ever designed the Greek glyphs.
Univers is from Linotype, but they don't seem to sell and variants with greek glyphs?
I think you're right. But I see they have a font named Utah WGL that may suit your needs.

    Hi there guys
    I just installed DW-CS3.
How can I use Mysql in my spry? I looked at some adobe

    On one page

Any how what would you recommend me to do? I need to get data

I am new to this, so please.

Page 1 of that tutorial has the requirements for the
tutorial, which includes having the Adobe Dreamweaver Developer
Toolbox installed (or the XML Export which was a registration
incentive for DW CS3), so if you do not have either, then you can't
    follow that tutorial exactly.

This page has some generic code for PHP, CF, and ASP that
takes data from a recordset and puts it into XML:
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/samples/utils/query2xml.html
Once you're creating XML from your data, then you should be
able to pick up that tutorial on the "Consuming exported XML" page.

  • Missing site of gifts after regestering CS6

After installing the new CS6 Design Standard I had a site with a range of free gifts a can choose from for registering but now I cannot go back to this, can you tell me where I will find it to choose it finnaly?

I am sorry Nezka_fe but there is not any product registration incentive offers available for that software license.  Acrobat 10 does have an offer available when it is purchased separately.  This is likely what has caused the confusion.  If you have additional inquiries I would recommend contacting our support team directly at http://adobe.ly/yxj0t6.

  • Didn't receive free "Adobe Text" font

Just installed CS5.5 Design Standard successfully, but at the end of the process an offer came up onscreen for a free font or three other choices.  Was directed to update my Adobe profile, then clicked on Continue button, but nothing happened.  How do I get the font?

    Hi kcashland,
The offer you received is a Post Registration incentive that shows up once you register the product using your Adobe ID and password.
There is no way to get the offer to show on your screen again. Instead you will have to contact Adobe support who will be able to provide you with an alternate link from where you can download the free font or any other component which is on offer.
Please use this link to contact support: Contact Adobe Support
On the support page, select "I need help with my account" in the drop down menu.
In the second dropdown, select "I have a standard individual account".
You will then have an option to chat with a support representative or to call support using the phone numbers listed.

  • Partner Application Registration

When using the Administer Partner Applications page, it appears the application is not being registered completely. The information does not appear in the WWSEC_ENABLER_CONFIG_INFO$ table, as has been suggested in prior posts (everything is fine in WWSSO_PAPP_CONFIGURATION_INFO$).
I am attempting to deploy the SSO SDK demo PL/SQL application, which works fine when logged into Portal. However, when not logged into Portal, I receive the following errors:
"Error in application: missing application registration information
Please register this application as described in installation guide"
This error is driven by the PL/SQL exception:
    "wwsec_sso_enabler_private.enabler_config_not_found"
What am I missing? I have created several Partner applications, and none of them appear in the WWSEC_ENABLER_CONFIG_INFO$ table. I have sucessfully loaded the SSOHash into my partner schemas.
    Environment:
    Win2000
    Portal 3.0.7
    Thanks in advance...
    Dean

    Paul,
Thanks for the info; however, I'm still unable to get the SSO SDK sample, or any partner app, to work.
I have read the docs, what little there is, and followed the steps closely. Everything executes ok.
    I have several questions:
    1. When executing the REGAPP.SQL script that comes with the SDK, it indicates to login as the partner schema. I have noticed when running this script, the entry is stored in the partner schema table WWSEC_ENABLER_CONFIG_INFO$, not the one owned by Portal. Is this correct?
    2. My partner app is really a PL/SQL Server Page (PSP) application which uses the same server as Portal. When entering the Listener Token name, I have been using the same server name as Portal. Is this a problem? What is this token used for? Must it be unique for each partner application?
    3. In your response you mentioned changes to the REGAPP script. I found no mention of any changes in the docs with SSO SDK. Am I missing something?
Finally, is there any better documentation for the SDK and/or partner application configuration. The readme and install files do not, in my opinion, pass as documentation.
    Thanks...
    Dean
