Registration key by instalation of oracle 10g

Hello I buy book with instalation cd of oracle. When i try to install it i need a registration key. Where can I get this key.
Thanks
Stan

The registration key must be from the "Author" of the book to "lock" the contents of that book and NOT for the Oracle software because you can download the Oracle software for free (personal use) directly from Oracle.
Check out the inside of the book, the labels, the box and everything you received to find that registration key.

  • Error while re-installing the Oracle 10g on Linux

    Hello Experts,
I am a beginner in this area: I was in the process of installing Oracle 10g Release 2 on Linux 4. However, during the installation was incomplete because there was a disconnection in the network during the step wherein I was supposed to run the shell scripts from the root directory. When I tried to install the product once again, I got an error message that I need to "create a new oracle home". I also checked if there were any oracle products installed, but there were none. Now, how do I re-install the oracle 10g? Please help.
    Thanks!

    Hi Jean-Valentin,
I tried doing that, (ref: http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/em.102/b16227/oui3_manage_oracle_homes.htm#i1006275),
    but it didnot work.
    So, what I did was:
I created a new oracle home:
    ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_2
instead of the older one: ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1
and I was able to install the oracle software successfully.
Please let me know if there is anyway that I can clean up
ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1, in the sense, completely remove it.
Please let me know if there is a particular way to remove ORACLE_HOME and oraInventory directories.
    Thanks a lot.

  • Install of Oracle 10g on RHEL 4 AS (newbie)

This is one the toughest installs I've ever done. I'm new to Oracle so bear with me. I'm trying to install Oracle 10g on a RHEL 4 AS system. I started out installig on a RHEL 5 sever but felt that I might be in over my head since it wasn't certified for RHEL 5.
I've successfully installed Oracle 10g on a RHEL 4 AS machine. During my installation I used the "Advanced & Custom" install. I selected this option to install software only. I wanted to learn the implmentation of Oracle and the creation of databases. I'm now trying to start the Oracle/DBMS service and the listener. I've been tyring to get isqlplus to work via the Mozilla browser but I've not been able to login. I enter in the following url "http://oracleserver:5561/isqlplus". I receive the logon screen asking for a usename and password. I don't recall entering in a username other than the default of "dba" and a password. Is this what I should be using on this screen? I'm also being asked to enter in a "Connect Identifier" what does this mean. I don't recall entering in a "Connect Identifier" as part of the installation? When I enter in the "dba" username and password I get the following message:
ERROR - ORA-12162: TNS:net service name is incorrectly specified
What does this mean and what should I be entering?
I was successful at getting the listener to start.
I'm I having problems becuase of my installation process of "Advance, Custom, Software Only". My expectations where that a template database would be created and I would be able to use a GUI interface going forward to configure the system. Very much what you would see when installing SQL 2005 in a Windows environment.
Please work with me to get things working. I really want to learn this.
    Thanks

When you perform the install software only, it means so, Software Only. So no database template, no default environment. You'll have to define this on your own. It could be by means of dbca or manually.
isqlplus could start, but it doesn't have any database to connect to. The username/password and database service you are being prompted are the connect descriptor to an existing database and a database user/password. At this time none of them exist.
I could tell you, you are doing well, your listener and isqlplus are properly working, so next step, create your database.
As stated above, just issue the dbca command from the os prompt and go through the assistant.

    2) XE Forum. If you have XE working and can get to the web page, you should see the link to register for the XE forum. You must register and then 'sign in' to see the XE forum. The link on your XE home page should point to http://www.oracle.com/technology/xe/registration'
    1) What's the difference ... ?
OK ... here we go ....
Oracle has hundreds of products. I like to group them into 'technology' and 'application' products.
The 'technoloy' products I group into
    - data management == database
    - data access == applicaiton server (fusion)
    - data manipulation == developer tools and languages
    - data sharing == collaboration suite
Without data access, the data management and data manipulation is plain 'client-server' stuff.
With data access, you stick an application server (web server, J2EE server, other server) between the client and the database.
The Oracle Application Server is a collection of Oracle technology designed to support n-tier computing. The technology includes:
    - http server (Apache stuff)
    - reporting server
    - portal server
    - forms/data entry server
    - generic J2EE server
    - BPEL and SOA orchestration
    - Web Services server
    - workflow and intergration server
    - centralized security and single sign-on server
    and a lot more.
The Oracle database, of course, stores and manages data. Oracle now has many 'database managers', including
    - Oracle Database == the traditional one
    - Times Ten == in memory only, but very high speed
    - Berkeley == embedded (to be included as part of your application)
    - Lite == for laptops and remote devices
    and more
The traditional Oracle database has many features. These features may not be needed by all organizations. So Oracle has created several editions. These are Express, Standard Edition One, Standard Edition, Enterprise Edition and Personal Edition. In the order presented, each adds more feature than the one before but includes all the features from the one before.
The Express Edition has the fewest features and the simplest install. It has no official Oracle support and has size limitations (4GB data max, only runs one 1 CPU). It includes Application Express which allows you to access the data from a web browser. I think of this as 'Microsoft Access, with Oracle multi-user reliability, on the Web'.
The Standard Edition One has everything from Express and adds: Java in the database, ability to use up to 2 CPU, many more features such as multi-media storage, no data size limit. It also changes the install to use the Oracle Univeral Installer.
Standard Edition adds Real Application Cluster to allow up to 4 CPU to be used, whether the 4 CPU are on one, two or four machines.
Enterprise Edition adds many high availability and scalability features to ensure the database will try to stay up all the time and will be able to handle many hundreds or thousands of users. Many DBA features are added to allow detailed tuning and management. And many options such as Partitioning, Label Security and Spatial can be purchased and added to this edition.
Personal Edition includes all of Enterprise Edition AND all of the Enterprise Edition options except Real Application Cluster. It is designed to be used by the Oracle developer so it is very inexpensive (in comparison to the Enterprise Edition) but it is limited (by the honor system) to one user access.
So when you use Express Edition, everytthing you do can be done in Enterprise Edition as well. Express Edition is a great learning tool for getting comfortable with the commercial Oracle database. It is also a great tool for developing applications for small organizations or even for home use. A great tutorial for XE is at http://st-curriculum.oracle.com/tutorial/DBXETutorial/index.htm
All of this is described in a few pages of documentation (about 70 thousand) at http://docs.oracle.com. If you want to understand Oracle well, you may have to spend a bit less time with the nuns for a while.

  • Installing Both Oracle 10g and oracleXE on the same computer

    Hi,
    Good Morning to ALL,
Can any of you tell me whether we can Install both the Oracle10g Version and OracleXE on the same computer. In my work computer, I have oracle and Toad installed. Now I wanna install OracleXE and Oracle SQL Developer to do some hands on practise when I find time at work.
Could we Install both these versions on the same computer? Your answer will help me a lot. Please advice............
Thanks a lot.............. Have a good day.

Yes, you can. On my laptop, in a virtual machine with Oracle Linux 5, I have 10g, 11g and XE.
BTW, 11g includes Sql Developer by default...

  • Problems installing/running Oracle 10g

I'm brand new to Oracle so if it sounds like I don't know what I'm talking about, you'll know why.
I recently installed Oracle Database 10g on a fresh copy Windows 2000 Server. During the setup of the Database Configuration Assistant, I received several different error messages stating that the SYSTEM01.DBF file was corrupted. I continued the installation despite the messages and things seemed to be working ok; I was able to browse and create objects via Enterprise Manager etc..
For some reason after a while I was unable to start the database. It continued to tell me that the password (I'm not sure if it meant the OS or for the db) I provided was incorrect. Then I decided to try creating a new db, and the DBCA errored out giving the same corrupted SYSTEM01.DBF message as during the initial install.
Has anyone seen something similar or have any suggestions for me? Thanks, Jason.

Joel, thanks for the response. I'm running Windows 2000 Server with SP3.
This morning I was able to install a database without any errors. Sincerely, I don't know what I did this time that was different but it worked. However, I've having the same trouble with the password. In EM via IE I entered the OS password "MACHINE_NAME\user", the password, the database user "SYS", its password, and it continues to return an error. I believe it's this "RemoteExceptionError", but I'm not certain. What's odd is that when I provide a user that doesn't exist or an incorrect password, it returns the same error as when I provide the credentials that I know are correct.
Is it possible something's timing out but it's returning a slightly different error message?

  • Case In-Sensitive primary key (NVARCHAR2 datatype) in Oracle 10g

I have primary keys in my database which are of NVARCHAR2 type. By default data is inserted into these columns as case sensitive which means insertion of both 'ABCD' and 'Abcd' are allowed.
Can I change the settings in Oracle so that the primary keys work case in-sensitively? I wanted Oracle to throw an error if someone is inserting 'Abcd' and if there is already a record with primary key 'ABCD'.
Note: I am using Entity Framework.

    Some ideas:
One method would be to place a before insert trigger on the data and upper it.
You could add another column, populate via a trigger as upper(), then build a unique index on this column.
See the following Oracle documentation on case insensitive searchs and comparisons

  • Invalid registration key to install Quicktime 7 Pro

Just bought this product and the Windows support center won't be open until Tuesday and I wanted to start working on some products. Several calls to tech support and they keep sending me to the office that is not open this weekend.

First. Make sure you've downloaded the most recent release of the QuickTime Player.
Open the email you received from Apple and use copy/paste to enter the registration info in the QuickTime Control Panel.
Make sure "salutations" (Ms. Miss. or Mr.) are used in the name.
It is too easy to manually enter a letter 0 where a 0 (zero) was used.

  • Oracle 10g registration key

    Hi,
first at all, sorry by my poor english.
I wanted to install the 10g and self-study guide that Oracle sent me in the mail. The install requires a registration key, made available at oracle.com.
After filling in all the forms required to register, I wind up at a "Survey Error", and of course no key.
If Oracle 10g it is free, why asking for a registration key ??.
How I can solve this problem ?
Exist any trick to install it ?
Please I really need help in this !!!
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I know that Oracle isn't free, sorry it was my error.
I received the Oracle 10g Database + Software + Self-Study guide from the Oracle Company via Postal.
When I try to install the database, a windows appear asking for the registration key...
I follow the instructions to receive by email the key, but when completing the steps give me an error (404 page not found).
Consequently I do not obtain the key and I cannot install
    the database.
    Regards.

    (I recommend Express Edition)
