Registration swatch gone?

All of the sudden the Registration swatch in my palette is gone and everything that was colored registration like register marks are now 100,100,100,100. I thought you couldn't remove the registration swatch!?

That is really strange.
I would try and copy the art to a new file. Use the "remember layer" setting when pasting if necessary.

  • Registration Swatch 'Passermarken' in English US version

    I'm using English US version of Illustrator CS6, and received files originally created in the German version. Now all of the files have '[Passermarken]' for the Registration color, but I need it to say 'Registration'. Everything else is in English. I've scoured the preferences for a way to change the language, but to no avail. Also, in the character palette, the dictionary language states German 2006. When I change it to English, and resave the file, it reverts back to German 2006. Is there any way to correct these issues?
    Thank you.

  • Serial numbers / registrations are gone!?

    Good day,
    Our company bought Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver CS5 (included the free CS6 edition) on 17 april 2012.
    Back then we succesfully added all the serials / information on our Adobe account.
    Last month we moved to a new office location and with the new pc's there, we need to re-install the software.
    But when we log on into our Adobe account all the serials / information are gone!
    Does anyone know how this is possibly and if it can be fixxed?
    Please let me know.

    You need to contact Adobe Support either by chat or via phone when you have serial number and activation issues.  They should be able to work with you to get the information you need.

  • Default Black swatch in 4 colour mix-aaargh!

    How do I get CS3 Illustrator to have the default BLACK swatch as just 100% black only and not a mix of cmyk?
    Everytime I start a new project it defaults to wrong black and has caught me out a few times. Is there a way to have Illustrator startup with the correct black swatch?

    No I am not selecting the registration swatch. No, no scripts used to create a new doc. And either setup from CMYK or Print to create a new document has the default black swatch as a mix of cmyk and not pure 100k only. I am talking about the "Default" colour swatch called "black". Second from registration colour. When I create a new doc, and have the blank page I click on the "colour" pallette and click the stroke to bring it to the front (with the white fill) and it displays the colour as a black mixed in fractions of cmyk- completely useless! It has been a pain for us as text and borders etc needs to be set only in black and not a mix. Why has adobe done this is beyond me. Annoying to say the least. Perhaps its because we here use a international version and not one for the States?? Its the only straw we can clutch to.....and it happens on all 4 macs here! never on any previous versions of Illustrator either. We do not do any work in RGB so its not set in the wrong colour mode. I have been using Illustrator for at least 5 years so am no raw beginner.:) Thanks for your suggestions but they seemingly do not apply in this case. At wits end now, we are considering scrapping it and going back to earlier versions. aaargh, another "update" that makes things worse...

  • Aliases in swatches palette

    in cs2, i could put an alias of a file on a server being used as a color palette into my swatches folder and have illustrator make that palette "perpetual" because the alias was in the illustrator app folder. this does not seem to work in cs3 - it gives me an error message about the file being the wrong format. anyone have any help on this?
    thanks!

    Closing the browser, Firefox, fixed the problem with the keyboard shortcuts. I'm soo happy about that. Now I just need to find a work-around to keep the two from talking to each other. We use web based apps for job tracking as well as accesing our own website catalog.
    OK, here's an intersting test. Closing the browser did't fix the swatch palette issue---completely. When I opened an exisiting document and clicked on the swatch palette - bam - it came right up. Granted it only had the "fill none" and "registration" swatches present. So, I loaded Pantone Solid Coated and same old story except that the swatch palette opened and closed normally. Then I started adding swatches from pantone and Illustrators default libraries to the swatch palette. And with each swatch I added the slower the palette performed. It's wierd - kind of incremental. Delete the swatches back down to the defualt and it works fine.
    I then started clicking on palettes and noticed significant delay problems with these palettes: color, appearance, and color guide. All the other palettes respond upon click.
    Another observation - when I switch back to illustrator from the browser there is significant delay in the redraw of the screen in illustrator. It's like a three step redraw: I toggle over and the artwork preview is there, with Firefox window header hanging around, followed by a brief pause, then replaced with the illustrator window header, visable blink and any open palettes are refreshed.
    Then I try this... in illustrator I type the tab key to hide all palettes, toggle to Firefox then back to Illustrator and - bam - no delays!!
    Because I can't work full time with the palettes closed I notice another thing. Typing tab to bring everyhting up – slow. Typing tab to close – normal.

  • Swatches palette

    I'm running Photoshop CS3 Extended in 32 bit Vista. Whenever I need a layer filled with 50% Gray I have been accustomed to select it from the default swatches palette (last box on the right side of the first row). However, I have just discovered - perhaps belatedly - that the RGB values that this selection produces are NOT R 128, G 128, B 128 but can vary between 131 and 147 depending on the color profile of the document that I am using at the moment.
    I can verify that it is not 50% Gray by then changing the blending mode of the new layer to Overlay which, at least in theory as I understand it, should produce no color change to the underlying layer. However, I do observe changes.
    I have also confirmed with others that this behaviour is the same for CS3 running in XP on a different make of computer.
    Am I missing something fundamental?

  • Swatches Palette Kills Productivity

    Having issues with the “swatches” palette. Everything comes to a crawl and the spinning beach ball is getting really annoying. When that window is closed/collapsed/or returns to “basic” window view the app runs clean – no holdups. But click on the “swatch” icon to bring it up and we’re back to the spinning beach ball. If the palette is open and you hide tools the app runs clean. Unhide the tools and the app crawls. Swatches palette only.

  • 2 color PDF shows 4 color in Acrobat

    We have been using 2/c file for Indesign CS2 document (Magenta & Black). However we were able to findout, select the Output Preview menu in Acrobat and turned off Magenta and Black it shows the rest of the color. InDesign shows by using Seperation Preview menu.
    Now we have almost 30 chapters for this title. I'd like to know is their any option to check these PDFs after generated from InDesign at Batch mode or Watch folder mode. I tried using the Preflight option in Acrobat "Document generates more than two plates" but it indicates the document has 4/c.
    It shows the "Indexed color" and "Black" when we checking the "Images" and "Color spaces" under the Overview in Preflight menu after executed the profile. For 2/c title we can ignore the Indexed color (2 color combination). But it doesn't show how much percentage has been used for CMYK. I have attached the pdf file for your reference.
    Pitstop doesn't show the document has more than two plates.

    It's a bit hard to work out what is happening here, but it sounds like you might be getting confused by the fact that the Output Preview in Acrobat always shows CMYK, whether it's greyscale, RGB or only one of the process colours.  If you want to try automating it ask on the Acrobat forum, but Pitstop is probably your best bet here.
    If you have an Indesign document with only black and Magenta swatches and you don't place anything or use the registration swatch you will never output PDFs that will print anything but these two swatches.

  • How do i output CMY reg marks over BLK master reg mark without the BLK being knocked out on BLK film

    how do i output CMY reg marks only CMY films where they are over the BLK master reg mark without the BLK being knocked out on BLK film

    You're evidently doing some kind of custom registration, but not explaining what it is.
    First, what kind of printing are you doing that requires ten seps (CMYK and six spots)?
    By definition, the Registration Swatch prints solid on all seps, both process and spot. But you talk of a CMY registration mark as if it is distinct and separate from K. Don't you also want your CMY seps to be registered not only to each other but also to the K?
    You mention a "master" registration (as opposed to…?) needing to appear on the K sep. If a registration mark only appears on a single sep, what is it going to serve to register to; and how if there is no corresponding mark on the other sep(s)?
    You seem to be under a not uncommon misconception that separations are somehow associated with Layers. They're not, unless you just want to organize your drawing that way for some reason.
    If you want to create your own registration or fold or other printer marks which separate only to specific process inks, simply create and assign Swatches defined with 100% values of the desired component inks. There is no need to set these marks to overprint.
    If you want to create your own marks which separate only to specific spot inks, those will need to involve object-level overprinting. You do not have to do that using multiple objects. You can assign multiple Strokes to a single path and set the overprint attribute on the Strokes individually.
    It almost sounds like you are designing for screen printing on garments, and want to use registration marks. But because there is no "trim" region on the garment, you are trying to build the files in such a way that the marks end up being overprinted (therefore hidden) by subsequent inks. The default assumption in forums like this is always commercial offset printing. Otherwise, you should always state the printing method for which you are designing and describe the pertinent parameters.
    Edit:
    >"... this is a silk screen process with each colour applied over the other..."
    We were typing at the same time. So it's as I suspected (or similar). Your description of what the printer wants is still confusing.

  • Apply Random Color to Group of Objects

    Hello all, thanks for taking the time to help.
    Here's my issue... lets say I have 600 different objects in illustrator (just little circles with a fill color, no stroke) and 6 different colors that these circles should be. That means, I'd like about a 100 to be one color, 100 another color, etc... Is there anyway to select all 600 and just tell Illustrator that I have these 6 colors and I want to apply them to the selected objects randomly?
    Let me know if this is confusing... hopefully there is some option to do this. I don't want to apply them manually...
    Thanks!

    Rats. The [none] (no-color) swatch is stubborn.
    I was able to remove the [registration] swatch from the mix by making sure it's at the head of the palette and adding a (If swatchIndex>1) test to the script. But I can't get rid of the [none] swatch no matter what I do. Illustrator must treat it as a special case so that it cannot be referred to by index number.
    Help, James!
    One other thing: Not for nothing, but...
    lets say I have 600 different objects in illustrator (just little circles with a fill color, no stroke) and 6 different colors that these circles should be. That means, I'd like about a 100 to be one color, 100 another color, etc.
    ...is not exactly the same thing as...
    select all 600 and just tell Illustrator that I have these 6 colors and I want to apply them to the selected objects randomly
    What you want is a uniform distribution of those six colors but in no discernible pattern. That's not true random assignment, and this script won't get you there even if got the unwanted swatches out of the mix.
    No obvious solution here.

    I am having trouble saving my swatches and brushes that I create. After I close Illustrator, and come back later my swatches and brushes are gone.

    Once you have a document with the swatches, brushes, symbols that you want, save it as a new Document Profile.
    Document profiles can be found (and saved) in Library > Application Support > Adobe > Adobe Illustrator 18 (if you have CC) > your language folder > New Document Profiles.
    Next time you create a document you will find it in the list of profiles.

  • [JS][CS5] automate numbering swatches?

    Hey,
    I'm trying to make a script that will automatically number swatches based on their order in the swatch panel.
    I found this script in another topic already
    var myDocument = app.activeDocument;
    for(i = 4; i<myDocument.swatches.length; i++){
         if(myDocument.swatches.item(i).getElements()[0].constructor.name==='Tint'){
             continue;
         var mySwatchName = myDocument.swatches.item(i).name;
         myDocument.swatches.item(i).name = ".XX." + mySwatchName;
    var nos = myDocument.swatches.length - 4;
    alert("DONE and " + nos + " swatches renamed");
    and that will rename everything with a .XX. in front of it.  However, I need the X's to be numbers starting at .01. and increasing from there.  I can't find out how to do this in javascript, can anyone help me out?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Uwe
    Works for ME
    Actually there are a few versions of ME out there
    I have CS5 ME en-gb = English - Great British interface - Colour has a "u".
    CS5 ME is (was) available also with French, Hebrew and Arabic interfaces (maybe also Greek)
    I also for now have CS6 ME is available only in en-us i.e. Americanese no "u" in color.
    The too be Indesign CC to my understanding is going to be available with also with French, Hebrew and Arabic interfaces but I think the "u" of colour has gone for good (or bad).
    Ok. So I guess my testing wasn't worth too much because my ME's are English based but as far as I know these particular scripting names and language independent.
    The is a small problem with the script though.
    The line
    if(mySwatchName.search(/None|Registration|Black|Paper/) != -1){
    should be changed to
    if (mySwatchName.match(/^(Registration|Black|Paper)$/)) {
    So as to deal with Swatch names like "My Dark Black"
    Also there is no need to deal with "None" swatch.
