I keep getting an error message when trying to burn a cd that the registry setting for burning cds is missing. I've totally uninstalled and reinstalled all componets of itunes with no success. Can anyone help please.

Hello,
Any help I can get will be very much appreciated. I keep getting an error message when I open ITunes. The error message says "the registry setting for importing and burning cds are missing..."
I deleted and reinstalled itunes twice to no avail. Anyone knows what I can do?
I am ruuning on Windows XP.

Have you tried redownloading the GEAR drivers from feed://www.gearsoftware.com/rss/GEAR-drivers-feed.php ?
Sometimes reinstalling them fixes the problem.

This sounds like it is about Window positions.
iChat has Default places for Incoming Invites.
Video is always top Center of your Screen
Audio and Text chats are Upper right with the Audio slightly lower than Text Chats.
Secondary invites are sort of Stacked like when you open multiple files from the same App.
Your outgoing Windows are "Remembered" as to where the last one was when you used it.
This can be an issue if you use your Mac with a second display and turn Off Mirroring.
You windows can get "left" on the other screen.
Go to System Preferences > Displays and turn On Mirroring and the windows should come back to one Screen/display.
If this does not help go to your Home Folder/Library/Preferences and delete (Drag to Trash) com.apple.ichat.plist and restart iChat.
Unfortunately you will need to reset any iChat Preferences you have changed from defaults.

Third-party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue. To resolve this, followTroubleshooting security software issues.
Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to perform unauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. Uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer.
Edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from your hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. XDCAM, and other codecs like AVCHD, have metadata located in the folders on the memory card. Best practice is to copy ENTIRE contents of card directly over to your hard drive, without using any "transfer utility" software. Then in Premiere, import via the "Media Browser" rather than "File > Import". This gives Premiere the very best chance of correctly figuring out what kind of video and audio assets it is dealing with so it can handle them correctly.

I found a previous thread on this that may resolve your problem:
If you are syncing over the air with iCloud then DO NOT sync via the cable with Contacts. This causes duplicates. You are telling the iPhone to bring what is in those programs to the iPhone (one copy). Then you are syncing from the cloud (copy two).
The iPhone will do exactly as you tell it to do.
The easiest way to remove duplicates.
1. On the info tab in iTunes uncheck sync contact and sync calendars.
2. On the iPhone>settings>mail contacts calendars>@me.com account>slide Contacts and Calendars OFF
3. Log into iCloud and look at contacts and calendars and make sure there are no duplicates.
4. On the iPhone>settings>mail contacts calendars>@me.com account> slide to Contacts and Calendars ON
When prompted choose to Replace with info from iCloud
Had to update some of it with iCloud info (it had been written for Mobile Me), but hopefully this will work for you!

Missing registry entries for burning CDs

I used iTunes to burn soe playlists. This worked well. However, I also installed Nero Exprss after that. After this when I brought up iTunes it gave the message "MIssing registry entries - cannot import or burn CDs or DVDs - reinstall iTunes" Though I was still able to import CDs after that, I cannot burn CDs. The error does not go away even after re-installing iTunes several times (either usiing an Update or after unistalling and doing a fresh install).
How can I fix this problem ?

To elaborte on Davids response aortiz5 you can got to appleid.apple.com and click the option to manage your apple id. Here you will be able to change your primary apple id and email address if you want. Or if this is your apple id and you think some one else has access to it you can click on passwords and security on the left and change your password for your apple id which will cause the other devices to prompt for the new password.

I am unable to burn to CD - when I start up ITunes I am told that the "registry settings are missing" and am told to reinstall, which I have done without success. are generic and do not address the problem I've described in numerous posts - I have read and implemented these suggestions with out success. When launched, itunes complains that "the registry settings used by itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs/DVDs are missing" is missing CD drivers. When I acknowledge the problem and try to burn CDs from itunes the error message "disk recording is not found" is received.

Current user is an administrator.
Failed loading CD / DVD drives, error -43. Try doing a repair install on iTunes from the "Add or Remove Programs" control panel.
The last failed audio CD burn had error code -128(0xffffff80). It happened on drive F: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-104 on CDR media at speed 0X.
The CD burner works on other programs! Problem occurred with upgrade to latest version of itunes.
1. Installed of the latest gear drivers
2. Upgraded burner firmware
3. Reloaded/repaired itunes on numerous occasions
4. Using latest latest Nero software from an Admin account and launched program to ensure Nero Burner rights are installed.
5. Performed registry hacks & removed values of upper/lower filters as prescribed (no joy).
