Registry Settings Error?

All of the sudden, I started receiving the following error when I start iTunes (Vista, Vaio):
"The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
I haven't installed (or allowed anything to be) any updates or changes. So I reinstalled iTunes. Same error.
I made sure all of my software/drivers are up to date (they were). Still, same error. I have googled other people having the problem, but haven't found a solution.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

If you get this error, download new drivers from the GEAR website. It solved my problem.

  • ITunes 9 Registry Settings Error

Ever since upgrading to iTunes 9 I've been getting this error...
"The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CD's are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, with no luck.
I have downloaded and installed updated drivers from GEAR, but that didn't help.
I have followed the instructions on this Apple article to troubleshoot...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2372?viewlocale=en_US
When I get to Step 12, I run into a problem because there is no UpperFilters entry. Could this be causing my problems with the iTunes 9 upgrade?
How do I fix this? Looking for any help I can get. Thank you in advance!

the same thing happened to my itunes, i couldnt figure out how to fix it.
my solution was to just rip cds to windows media player, and convert to itunes

  • Registry Settings error with Windows 7.

When I start iTunes, I get an error saying "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
After searching on Google, it seems that this is a pretty common problem. However, none of the solutions that seem to work for others have been working for me. I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, I downloaded the GEAR driver updates from gearsoftware.com, and I made the suggested modifications to my registry (GEARAspiWDM in the Upper Filter), all with no effect. iTunes runs just fine, I can burn and import CDs, but I'm still getting this error every time I load it.
    Can anyone offer a solution?

    Excellent news!
I think you should be fine now. I suspect the cause of the slightly strange symptoms here were the multiple UpperFilters entries (rather than those LowerFilters entires dropped by the other software). When iTunes launched, it saw the empty data field in the first UpperFilters entry, prompting the registry settings messages. But when you went to import things, iTunes could glom on to one of the other two UpperFilters entries and proceed as normally with burning/importing activities.
Now we've got the UpperFilters entries looking a bit more standard, I think we should be okay from here on out. If you upgrade iTunes at some stage and see the same sort of symptoms, though, I'd check for similar sorts of "doubled UpperFilters" issues.
Many thanks for the screenshot. If I hadn't actually seen all those UpperFilters entries in there, I'm not sure I would have been able to work out what was most likely going on.

  • ITunes says registry settings for importing and burning CDs or DVDs are missing.

i get a message after installing itunes 10.7 that registry settings are missing for importing and burning CD/DVDS. Says probably due to installing other burning sofware. Re-install ituenes.  I never installed anything between the older 10.6 and the new 10.7........just updated when it said new Apple software was available.  The update process seemed to delete the 10.6 install and then re-install a new version of itunes, 10.7.  Then the registry settings error message started coming up each time I start itunes. What's the proper way to re-install?
    Thanks for any suggestions.

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

  • Ever since upgrade to iTunes 11 i get an error message states registry settings for drivers used to import cds are missing

Error message suggests reinstalling itunes - done. Nothing. (So thats the official Apple suggestion beig useless). Tried a number of fixes listed here after search revealed others had this problem. reinstalled itunes, removed ALL 3rd party burning software (even those that were present when itunes was working), amended registry settngs as detailed in Apple Support pages - this didnt work so returned them to original settings. Downloaded new updated Gear drivers etc still nothing. Does anyone have any other possible solutions? Am running an Acer laptop with Windows 7 and now iTunes 11.1.1.11.
Diagnostics run from iTunes says CD drive is working and can read the tracks etc but simply can not import anything. If it runs through one track it takes about 5-10 minutes per 4 minue track, then when you try and play it back it has only saved about 4 seconds worth of crackle. Also can not play the CDs through WMP either or VLC or anything else for that matter.
At wits end now, only option seems to bring forawrd the purchase of replacement laptop but dont want to have same issue in future.
Need iTunes as have iPods, 2 x iPhones, iPad and Apple TV in family so dont want to jump ship...

If you're still getting the error message (especially when you plug in the Touch), I'd check for a device filter confusion on the PC. (They can affect the connection of USB devices to a PC, as well as burning and importing CDs.) For that one, see:

  • How do I fix the following error: the registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing?

Lately whenever I open iTunes, I get that same error message.  At the end of the message it suggests re-installing iTunes, but this didn't correct the error.  I looked up the problem on the help and support website and found several articles describing the error and the known possible causes.  The problem is since there is more than one cause, there is more than one soulution.  I'm not sure about the correct action to take.  I included the links to some of the articles and my system information below.

  • 'System Error' when trying to save Form Manager Registry Settings

    Hi,
trying to save changes made in the form manager registry settings [Home > Services > Adobe LiveCycle Form Manager > Registry Settings (http://localhost:8080/FormManagerAdmin/registry-cfg-load)], I get an error, which reads:
    > System Error
    >
The request could not be processed. Please retry the operation. If the problem persists, please contact your system administrator.
Has anyone had this error as well?
The system runs fine apart from the jboss log files being crammed with the well-known and pretty annoying
    SpyJMSException.
Does anyone have an idea how to apply changes to the form manager registry settings, if the web ui does not work? Where are the 'form manager registry settings' being stored? Maybe I succeed in changing the settings manually at least without having to re-install Livecycle...
    Regards,
    Steve

    We are using JBoss 3.2.5.
Weirdly, last week a collegue of mine was able to save the registry changes. This week, both of us get the 'System error' when trying to save changes. Even using a default Administrator account, we were unable to save changes.
Is there any other way apart from the LiveCycle web UI to change the registry settings without having to re-install the server? Where are these values stored?

iTunes for Windows: "Registry settings" warning when opening iTunes

  • Error msg at launch says "Registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. ... Please reinstall iTunes."

Each time I launch iTunes (latest version) on Windows 7 (w/ latest system updates) I receive the following error msg:
"Warning! The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing.  This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software.  Please reinstall iTunes."
When I click on "OK" iTunes completes the launch process and the application functions properly.  This error msg appears without fail every time I launch the app.
I have reinstalled iTunes four times and continue to receive this message.  iTunes is set in the system Control Panel as the default program for all functions that iTunes uses.  I never burn CDs or DVDs and have never attempted to do so on this machine.  I have had iTunes on this computer since I bought it last November and never had a problem with it until 2 months ago when this message began popping up.  I did not notice any action I took that caused this, in terms of creating conflicts.
I hope someone can assist me in finding a way to stop this annoying error!  Thanks!
    David
