Registry Settings Missing?
I am running Windows XP Pro SP 3, and have repeatedly uninstalled & reinstalled iTunes, but keep getting this message:
"The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs & DVDs missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
I've reinstalled, with no luck. What now?

Well So much for support, NO one can tell me HOW to fix the registry so that the itunes will recognize the burning. Isnt ther a Place to just download the DRIVERS ????? If i burn the music MP4 icons to a different burning software it burns and will play music on the PC but NOT in the car stereo. someone said i needed to purchase the music in a different format, but I wasnt given any options. they look the same as myother music on mylaptop. ( which will not PLAY the new downloaded songs......even though i authorized them ) Im so lost with this its a hassle. If both my computers are autorized , they should let us download the music to each one, as obviously just copying them and moving is NOT helping me out.
I wish someone had some answers !!!!

Cant Burn CD's because of "Registry Settings" missing??
I have nano Ipod and have tried for hours to uninstall any CD-burning software from by computer as when I install it Ipod software on my computer it says "The Registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burnind CD's and DVD's are missing. I have deleted the Sonic burner and reinstalled itunes 4 different times. What should I do. I want to put the songs on a CD to listen in the car.

ThanksThis really should have been posted in the "Using iTunes for Windows" section, but I can answer it for you. I noticed you list Windows ME as your Operating system. If you are using Windows ME, that is the key to all of your troubles. iTunes for Windows will not work with any version of Windows other than 2000 or XP. If you are using XP, you'll need to look into running a system file check to be sure that none of your Windows components have been deleted or damaged. (This usually requires your original Windows XP CD) Click Start>Choose Run, and type sfc /scannow in the "name" box, then hit Enter or click Run. This will scan your Windows files to make sure they are intact and operating properly. If any files are not in place or functioning, the SFC will ask you to put in your Windows CD so it can re-write them from the disc. I hope this helps.

Importing & burning CDs registry settings missing
Since I installeld iTunes on new Windows 7 PC I continually get this message at startup "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a reuslt of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes"
I've already uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, including on the last try, all the associated Apple software, Bonjour etc., and this hasn't fixed this. Is there something I need to also do to the Windows registry to give an absolutely fresh install?
I dont' burn that many CDs but I'm quite likely to want to import more CDs as I never imported my whole collection.You might have two different things going on at once here.

On installing iTunes, I get a message 'Registry settings used by iTunes for importing and burning CDs/DVDs are missing'. I have Vista and on updating it, I lose email, Norton etc. so tend not to update. Thanks to anyone who can help.
Resolved this problem by altering the registry settings (Microsoft Knowledge Base has the solution)

hi, Every time i startup itunes 7 on my pc i get this screen and i can't burn anything (i an import though):

i've re-installed five times (and no, i don't have another burning software installed, except for the basic windows cd writing thing) in the last two days, and i keep getting this error. i'm having problems downloading album art (tunes hangs then i have to end itunes manually) , and also: when i try to use coverflow my system hangs and then i get a blue screen of death and the system restarts (something i haven't seen since the days of windows 98). right now i'm scared to plug in my ipod 4g, for fear that it might go haywire with this version of itunes.
system specs:
2ghz Celeron
512mb of ram
windows xp home sp2

Registry settings used by Itunes drivers not found
I just installed the latest version of itunes after having an old version previously installed. Every time I run Itunes now I receive an error message. It says something about registry settings missing that are used by itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs. It suggests re installing itunes and uninstalling any other CD burning software. I have reinstalled itunes perhaps 6 times now and i have not installed any other CD burning software - ever - windows media player was always installed. I don't think WMP should be interferring though since it didn't before. I receive this error message everytime i run itunes. Also, this may be related, I cannot consolidate my library. Everytime i select the option nothing happens. itunes does not react whatsoever.

When I attempt to log on to I tunes I get the following message:

To my knowledge no new software has been installed. I have tried un-installing and re-installing I Tunes but I still

Do you mean you can't see the instructions on what to do if there is no UpperFilters entry?
If so, here's the relevant instructions for that step:
On the right side of the Registry Editor window, right-click the UpperFilters entry and choose Modify from the shortcut menu.
Right-click the empty white space within the right-hand portion of the Registry Editor window. From the shortcut menu, choose New > Multi-String Value.
Name this new value "UpperFilters" (without the quotes). Then, right-click the newly created UpperFilters entry and choose Modify from the shortcut menu. -

when i was having trouble with my optical drive(before Dell sent me a new one) the dell tech support representative had me delete some reg. files to try to fix the problem. I was told this would not affect the new drive when i install it or any of my existing programs. here is what he had me do....

Everytime I connect my iPod Touch (4th Gen) to my laptop, running Win 7 (64 bit) I get the message "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes" I have reinstalled iTunes several times and it has not fixed the issue. I am running ver 10.2.2.12 of iTunes. I HAVE NOT installed any other burning software to my laptop either. I haven't tried uninstalling iTunes and then re-installing it yet. Would that perhaps fix the problem? I've read that many users have had issues with the new version of the software and I was wondering if that might be causing my issue. I'd like to point out that iTunes seems to work after getting rid of the message, but I haven't tried to burn any CDs or put music from a CD to my laptop. Any ideas on how to get rid of the annoying message?

If you're still getting the error message (especially when you plug in the Touch), I'd check for a device filter confusion on the PC. (They can affect the connection of USB devices to a PC, as well as burning and importing CDs.) For that one, see:

This same thing happened to me about two months. ago. I bought a new harddrive for my previously-fried netbook, and when I installed iTunes it gave me the missing registry business. So I came online and looked for solutions. This solution led to a different 'can't burn' error in iTunes, and I found a solution to that one, and it was like I was running in circles for a solid two weeks. Finally I managed to fix the problem, but after trying it hundreds of times I couldn't tell you which solution won out. Well, everything was fine and dandy, until I upgraded iTunes last night. I use an ipod classic 120G. When I try to launch itunes I first of all see a box stating "The registry settings used by itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. When I select a bookmark, the page opens on the left instead of in the main window?
