Registry Settings used by itunes missing even after troubleshooting?

Dell recently came out to replace a bad optical drive on my 9 month old desktop using Windows 7. Everything was working properly when this morning I tried to start itunes and I received the error message "The Registry Settings using by itunes drivers for importing and burning are missing...please reinstall itunes." Itunes will then open but none of my music, apps or playlists are showing. I did a repair--no change. I uninstalled all Apple software per the instructions on the Apple Support website then reinstalled itunes--no change. I found another support page on their website regarding filters in the Registry Editor (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2615) so I followed those instructions--still no change. What am I doing wrong?? Thank you for any help you can provide!

Doublechecking something, Sandy. When you did the filter edit, was the UpperFilters entry missing altogether?
If so, perhaps try this document instead:

    I use an ipod classic 120G. When I try to launch itunes I first of all see a box stating "The registry settings used by itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall itunes"   This I have done. obviously I cannot burn CDs but worse still is my ipod is not being recognised by itunes and will not sync. • Registry settings used by itunes drivers for importing and burning CD's and DVD's are missing.  Please reinstall itunes.

    Yes, it's the "Registry settings used by iTunes ...." issue which has been a problem going back at least to 2009, according to the posts here.  You would think that Apple would make an effort to solve this, but apparently it's not of concern to them.  Style - yes; function - no.  Sigh.
    In any case, I've read many of the ~200 threads and have, without success ....
       * Reloaded iTunes
       * Deleted iTunes, QuickTime, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour and Apple Application Support
       * Verified that iTunes and related components are completely uninstalled
       * Installed Gear drivers
    System: Windows 7, 64-bit, 8GB RAM, all programs/updates/drivers current.  Toshiba/Samsung CD player (current drivers).
    Occasionally in this process iTunes has behaved properly when a CD is loaded, but then it reverts to dysfunction.  Most frustratingly, the error message appeared immediately after that deleted/verified song and dance described above and recommended by Apple.
    I have not gotten into messing with my registry because, well, if that's the level of user involvement required here then the program is truly broken.  When I owned a 1959 Triumph I often had to tinker with the carbuerator, adjust the timing and use an ether starter spray, but automobiles seem to have progressed since then.  I thought that Apple products "just worked."  No.  I've used Macs in the past and though  I'm not a Windows fanboi, my work requires it and I've found Win 7 remarkably stable over the past 3 years.  I've NEVER had an issue like this with any program (and I've installed/deleted/used many dozens).
    Is this a fixable problem or should I just dump iTunes for something else that actually works?  Opinions and suggestions appreciated.  Thanks.

  • When connecting to Itunes, it shows the following error: registry settings used by itunes drivers for importing and burning cds are missing.  I have installed the gear drivers, uninstalled and installed itunes still showing same error.  Anything else?

    When connecting to Itunes, it shows the following error: registry settings used by itunes drivers for importing and burning cds are missing.
    I have edited the registery, downloaded the Gear drivers, uninstalled and installed itunes, and the error still appears.
    What else can I do.  Cannot connect any of our iphones or ipods to itunes because of this error.

    I have edited the registery,
    We'd better have a closer look at the keys to see what's going on.
    Can you post a screenshot of the contents of the key you've been editing, please? Include all of the regedit screen, including the left-hand column. Save the screenshot to an image file, and insert the image file in a reply by clicking the wee camera icon at the top of the reply window.

  • TS3299 Registry settings used by Itunes drivers for buring CDs are missing

    So incredibly stuck on this and I have already removed and reinstalled Itunes about 3 times. I kept getting the message that "registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDS are missing. I followed all the instruction and even went to the  Registry Editor and right clicked UpperFilters and was shocked to see that GEARAspiWDM"  was already listed there--so the warning I keep getting that this driver is missing is wrong. Now what? Please help. I do not know how to work around this. Thank you

    "The registry settings used by the itunes drivers for importing and burning CD's and DVD's are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall itunes." Then I select the OK option and itunes opens.
    I have deleted itunes and then reinstalled and i get the same message.
    How can I stop this message  when opening itunes?
    Please advise.

      So, I tried an iTunes repair. Still got the same message.  Then I uninstalled iTunes, still got the same message. Then I followed instructions http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to completely remove all iTunes files and restart computer, then reinstall iTunes - that still hasn't worked.

  • Registry settings used by Itunes drivers not found

    I just installed the latest version of itunes after having an old version previously installed. Every time I run Itunes now I receive an error message. It says something about registry settings missing that are used by itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs. It suggests re installing itunes and uninstalling any other CD burning software. I have reinstalled itunes perhaps 6 times now and i have not installed any other CD burning software - ever - windows media player was always installed. I don't think WMP should be interferring though since it didn't before. I receive this error message everytime i run itunes. Also, this may be related, I cannot consolidate my library. Everytime i select the option nothing happens. itunes does not react whatsoever.

    toonz here is what it says now, but like I said it is working fine now.
