Regular signal fail both network and 3g

Hi
My iphone keeps losing signal regularly (I'm with orange). Sometimes it come back after a few moments, sometimes the wifi of 3G signal disappears along with it and sometimes the phone gives up completely and goes tot he apple screen.
Lots of texts aren't coming through or there is a long delay and if I'm middway through a text and it cuts out I will lose anyhting I've written. Most of my imessages are turning into text messages and are delayed.
I have restored original settings and this has had no effect.
Apple don't seem to want to talk to me unless I pay an incident fee, which I think is outrageous!
Can anyone help?
Thanks

    Hi ChrisBell,
    my Pixi shows me the missed calls in a list of its own? I don't have many, so maybe I'm missing something. But I agree with your half-ranting to some degree. As a long-time Palm-user (my last phone was a Treo 680, terrible form factor, good UI), I am really disappointed with the standard software on this phone. Memos and Tasks, which AFAIK were there and useful even on the first Newton's, have regressed beyond the point of usefulness now (solution: Toodledo and Done!, at least for now).
    But ChrisBell: if you feel up for it, you could start tinkering. Many people love these phones so much they have started developing patches to solve the obvious problems skimmed over by developers. Try looking up "webosquickinstall" and "preware", and you will find over 300 patches and a lot of free software to help you out. I am not a computer wizard myself, but I am not scared of them either, and I have been able to make good use of all these extras made available by the community.
    just a thought, might help you out on a few of your half-rants

  • "The file [name of file] may have been changed by another user since you last saved it." Issue affects both network and local files.

    When a certain user saves a file in Excel 2010, she gets a message: "The file <name of file> may have been changed by another user since you last saved it."  She can choose to save as another file or overwrite with her changes.
    This just started happening a week or so ago.  She was concerned that someone else was accessing her files, but we did several tests that opened, made a change and saved in a matter of seconds, and she still gets the message.  It happens on
    most files, but not all – both network and local.
    We already tried the QFE_Saskatchewan registry fix.  I also checked the file server for Services for Macintosh.

    You may be confused by the error in Excel saying “another user”. Actually Excel cannot tell who (the real human) is editing the file. Based on my research the No.1 possibility of the error is KB2626998.
    2626998  Connection to a network document is lost in the 2007 Office system or in Office 2010 after the computer resumes from standby
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2626998
    For Excel 2010, follow these steps:
    a.  Click Start , click Run , type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK .
    b.  Locate and then select the following registry subkey: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Excel\Options
    c.  On the Edit menu, point to New , and then click Dword Value .
    d.  Type NetworkAvailableTimeInSeconds , and then press Enter.
    e.  Right-click NetworkAvailableTimeInSeconds , and then click Modify .
    f.  In the Value data box, click Decimal , type a number value, and then click OK .
    Note This registry subkey sets the time, in seconds, that Excel waits for the network to resume. For example, if you type 15 for the number value, Excel waits 15 seconds for the network to resume. You might have to do some tests in your own environment to
    determine an appropriate value. You may have to try multiple numbers.
    g.  Locate and then select the following registry subkey.
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\office\14.0\common\Internet
    h.  Repeat step 2C through step 2F again. Reuse the same value that you used previously.
    i.  Exit Registry Editor.
    Feel free to post back. Thanks.
    Cheers,

  • Add account fails both internally and externally, but autodisover is working

    Recently our internal DNS zone was deleted on remote DC and the change propagated to all of our DNS server. I was able to make a copy of zone and restore it. The Exchange server is back online and working for existing machines, but when we attempt to add
    a users profile to a new machine or a remote machine the auto setup fails. I am not sure if it is DNS related, because our external DNS was not affected, but I wanted to mention it because I think it has something to do with problem. The following happens
    now:
    It finds the user.
    Fails to logon:
    Tells me I must provide the mail serve name
    When I click on check name it tells me the name cannot be resolved.
    I have been banging my head against the wall here, because both internal and external exchange connectivity test pass. Also,
     I cannot find anything in the event logs that looks related. Any ideas?

    Hi,
    Please refer to the following article to troubleshoot the issue:
    Outlook: Unable to perform a Check Name or connect to an Exchange mailbox
    To resolve this issue, import the User Shell Folders registry key from a working Windows User Profile.
    Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added
    protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs
    Hope this helps!
    Thanks.

  • Need to split video signal to both HDMI and VGA

    I am hosting an event and the venue has given me a really tough challenge. I need to send a video signal from my Macbook Pro 15"(the highest spec, latest model) to a projector that only accepts VGA and to an A/V system that only accepts HDMI(this A/V system broadcasts the signal to several flatscreen TVs throughout the venue). Here are my two ideas, can anyone tell me if this will fail and if so, are there any other solutions?
    Idea 1: Use a mini-display to VGA adapter, split the VGA cable with one VGA cable going to the projector, and the other VGA cable going through a VGA to HDMI adapter to the A/V system
    Idea 2: Use a mini-display to HDMI adapter, split the HDMI cable with one HDMI cable going to the A/V system and the other going through an HDMI to VGA adapter to the projector
    Idea 3: Rent another projector that accepts HDMI, use a mini-display to HDMI adapter and split the HDMI cable, with one going to the projector and the other to the A/V system(this is the most expensive option and I want to avoid this if possible)
    The event is tomorrow evening, and I need to buy these cables today if possible. Would love to hear any ideas, thanks!!!

    Yes.  All video and audio outputs are always active.

  • Iphone not giving signal on dropped network and not reconnecting

    I've encountered several occasions when Iphone is on, that it shows no service in the perfectly good service area and it is not reconnecting to network, untill restarted.
    I am sure it is not the signal- if it were- then it would not connect immidiately on reset.
    It seems it has some setting that prevents it from reconnecting to the network after signal is dropped, or some other internal error.
    I also would realy appreciate if Iphone could beep or message when it happens, so that I would not be carrying a brick, without anybody able to call me.
    I can deal with resetting it to aquire signal, but I do need some sound to tell me that my network is dropped.
    Any sugestions?

    There is no setting to "alert" you when the network is dropped. The network is not supposed to "drop" that frequently anyway, unless you enter some dead zone out in the boonies, or inside some building, etc.
    When you say it is not reconnecting until restarted, you mean you restart the iPhone? Do you turn it off and back on, or do you reset it?
    That behavior seems odd. If you have tried resetting and restoring your iPhone, I would suggest calling Apple tech support, and maybe they will refer to you AT&T tech support. May have something to do with the SIM.

  • Probs with adding network and topology themes

    Hallo everybody,
    I wanted to add my network and topology data with the following sql-code
    INSERT INTO USER_SDO_THEMES VALUES(
    'THEME_DEMO_NETWORK',
    'Stromnetz Netzwerkmodell',
    'STROMNETZ_NW_LINK$',
    'TOPO_GEOMETRY',
    '<?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?>
    <styling_rules
    theme_type="network"
    network_name="STROMNETZ_NW"
    network_level="1">
    <rule>
    <features>
    <link
    style="C.RED"
    direction_style="M.IMAGE105_BW"
    direction_position="0.85"
    direction_markersize="8">
    </link>
    <node
    style="M.CIRCLE"
    markersize="5">
    </node>
    </features>
    </rule>
    </styling_rules>' );
    INSERT INTO USER_SDO_THEMES VALUES(
    'THEME_TOPO_NSLA',
    'Topologie fuer NSLA',
    'NS_LEITUNGSABSCHNITT_TOPO_TAB',
    'POSITION',
    '<?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?>
    <styling_rules theme_type="topology" topology_name="STROMNETZ">
    <rule>
    <features style="C.RED">
    </features>
    </rule>
    <styling_rules>');
    The rows are added to the user_sdo_themes but when I click on the network theme in the definition tool I get the error-message: No style attribute in row 1 is found. Only the valid elements are shown in the table. And there aren't any rows in the following table. What is wrong?
    When I add my topology theme to a map where I already have 2 other themes in the data of the topology theme isn't displayed.
    Both network and topology are valid.
    Another question is ... can there be problems by using the following char ' and that char " I took the code from the Mapviewer documentation and there are these different chars used.
    I have two different users spatial and scott. In both users I have imported the mvdemo so I have in both the same styles metadata. I needn't to define the style for my network like "SPATIAL:C.RED" or something like that? At the moment I only work with user spatial.
    Hope somebody can help. Thanks
    Katrin

    Hallo Daniel, hallo Joao,
    thanks for your reply. I have tried with SPATIAL:C.RED but I think my error is that I have created the map with the topology theme/network theme (I have posted before) with the Map Definition tool. Could that be the error?

  • Secure Networking and Wii without Computer

    I am wanting to set up a wireless network to connect my Wii and my regular modem to the network and I am wanting to have a secure password access but I don't want to have to have my computer on all the time? Basically I just want to have my modem and the router on with the wii or whatever console and connect that way with a password without the computer.
    David L.

    I am wanting to set up a wireless network to connect my Wii and my regular modem to the network and I am wanting to have a secure password access but I don't want to have to have my computer on all the time?
    Ok, then your basic network configuration should look something like the following with your 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn):
    Modem > (Ethernet cable) > \[WAN port] AEBSn >>> (wireless) >>> wireless clients, where the wireless clients would be your computer and the Wii. In this configuration, you do not have to have your computer on in order for the Wii to access the Internet through the AEBSn.

  • I have both TimeCapsule and Airport, and run two mac computers in the house on the one network. The airport often can not be found, and the signal is incredibly weak unless in the same room as the modem. Previously our signal was strong and effective.

    The signal has been strong and effective previously and as far as i'm aware that nothing else in the house has changed. We have two apple computers, appletv, an ipad, 2 iphones, time capsule, and airport all running off the same network. If there is product, a configuration or program we can get to help diagnose and or solve any connectivity issue that would be awesome

    The  Powerline adapters mentioned by edex67 are your only hope if you cannot run an Ethernet cable.
    Even if the home and office are on the same electrical circuit, you won't really know how well the Powerline adapters might work until you actually try them out at your location.
    For that reason, it would be a good idea to understand the store's return policy before you buy.

  • Time Machine and Time Capsule - Failing with Network Problem

    My problems with TM/TC have been ongoing for a couple of months now and I am going round in circles - need help.
    This is the second post I have made, the first got lost in people suggesting the obvious - so I will try to be a little more specific if I can.
    I will detail the current state first - i.e. where I am now - after I will list what I have done so far to get to this point.
    Currently, my iMac (intel) is directly connected by Ethernet 1GB to the Time Capsule. The TC is then connected to a Netgear router which in turn is connected to Internet.
    I have no network problems at all - internet connection is fine. the Netgear Router has the latest firmware version and is working fine. The porblems i have are nothing to do with this.
    The time Capsule is in Bridge mode and getting a reserved dhcp IP address from the Netgear router.
    The Time Capsule has been fully reset - i.e. power cable out, hold the reset button, plug in power cable (spark, spark), hold reset button, fast blink for 20 seconds or so, light goes out, release button.
    I have re-applied the latest Time Capsule firmware.
    I have renamed the disk on the Time Capsule.
    I have renamed my iMac and deleted all the time capsule entries from Keychain.
    I have re-installed Mac OSX and re-updated to the latest 10.5.6 release.
    At the moment I have kicked off a backup with a lot of large files - like music folder, video folder etc excluded. I also have parallels and have excluded the disk image. I have 1 other 50GB disk image which is also excluded.
    I am expecting the first initial backup will complete successfully.
    I will then remove music and video from exclusions and allow them to backup. I am expecting this will complete no problem. (I do this because the upcoming problem will happen if I move away from the machine - and I dont want to sit there for 2 days).
    So up to this point TM and TC have performed flawlessly. The issue that follows started happening before the 10.5.6 update after backing up with no issues for months. At this point I will be able to use TM to browse the backup and restore files. I will be able to mount the sparse bundle and browse files. Spotlight reports no issues and indexes quickly.
    If I leave my machine after a successful backup and the hourly update kicks in it will fail with 'A Network problem' basically saying the backup has filed because of a network problem, but is not any more specific, logs show far too much to put the whole thing here, but the following is an excerpt

    It goes on and on and is repeated every hour. For each one I get an error message on screen saying backup failed due to a network error. However I have tried a manual download over the same period set at an extremely slow rate so that it was downloading during this time and it showed no errors. I.e. the network connection from imac, through TC to netgear and out to internet - and monitored this while time machine showed these errors (i.e. at the same time) and this showed no connection problems at all and completed succesfully.
    I know TM uses an internal address to do backups, but uses the same cable and network card to get the job done. I am simply removing the cable as a source of issue although I have also replaced this making no difference.
    Applecare are involved and have so far been sent 2 sets of logs and so far have not been able to find the cause. New TC is on its way to try that, although they think it is something on the imac that is causing this.
    Sleep mode is turned off although screen sleep is on. The tick is not in the box for putting hard drives to sleep whenever possible.
    Now, after this has happened, and back at the machine. I restart both imac and TC. Try running a backup, spotlight starts to re-index - i.e. will mount the backup volume and start the index process, gets to about 90% then fails - again excerpts from log

  • How can I use an Airport Express to join my wireless network and provide an internet signal to my Power Mac g5 via an ethernet cable?

    I have a power mac g5 that does not have a wireless card, and connects to the internet via ethernet cable.
    I want to know how to set up an airport express so that it joins my wireless home network and provides the G5 with an internet signal.
    This via an ethernet cable that is plugged  into the airport express and then into the ethernet port on the g5.
    Please advise as I have configured the airport express in every way possible, the green light is on and when I plug the ethernet cable into the G5 my network cofigurations shows nothing and says that the ethernet cable is not plugged in (It is).
    I get an internet signal if the ethernet cable is plugged directly into my wireless router, so the ethernet port works.
    Please assist. Thanks.

    Two requirements that must be met to do what you want.......
    1) An AirPort Express 802.11n must be used. Check the Model No on the label on the side of the Express. It needs to be A1264. Any other model number will not do what you want.
    2) The Express must be configured to "Join a wireless network" and the option to enable Ethernet Clients must be checked.
    Open AirPort Utility and click Manual Setup
    Click the Wireless tab below the row of icons
    The box to "Allow Ethernet Clients" must be checked
    Please check to verify that your AirPort Express meets both requirements

  • Got new ATV and all set up. It keeps loosing connection with iTunes on laptop and have tried everything suggested in set up guide. It works fine for a while then the iTunes account vanishes from 'computer' menu TV screen.  Full Wifi signal on both devices

    Got new ATV and all set up. It keeps loosing connection with iTunes on laptop and have tried everything suggested in set up guide. It works fine for a while then the iTunes account vanishes from 'computer' menu TV screen.  Full Wifi signal on both devices so can't think what could be causing it to happen. Any suggestions please?

    Sorry, I updated another thread I was a part of but didn't update my own thread.....ughhh!
    I updated all of my ATV 2's and 3's to the latest firmware when it was released and have been problem free since. I do believe the major issue of not being able to connect after a period of inactivity has been corrected with the latest ATV firmware.
    I can look at my network connection table using "netstat -an" in a CMD window and I do not see the massive number of connections I saw before the update.
    Here is a link to the other thread I was referring to above:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/19952545#19952545
    Have you applied the latest firmware updates to your ATV 3's?

  • Extend both main and guest networks with a 2nd Time Capsule?

    I have a 4th generation 2TB Time Capsule set up to broadcast primary and guest networks.  I am running out of storage.  I would like to increase my storage and I would also like to extend both primary and guest networks.
    I currently use an older Linksys router (WRT330N) operating in bridge mode (wired connection to the TC) to extend the primary network, but it does not extend the guest network.
    If I purchase a second (5th generation) Time Capsule to replace the Linksys, can it be set up to extend both the primary and guest networks?
    From searching the forum, it appears not, but I'd like to confirm.  Is true for both both wireless and cabled range extension options?
    If I'm not able to extend the guest network this way, I'm inclined to settle for extending the primary network as I currently do and look for other ways to increase my network storage capacity (e.g. by upgrading the drive in my existing TC).

    If I purchase a second (5th generation) Time Capsule to replace the Linksys, can it be set up to extend both the primary and guest networks?
    Yes, either using wireless or an Ethernet connection between the two Time Capsules, providing that the 4th Gen Time Capsule is running at least firmware version 7.6.3.
    A wired Ethernet connection between the two Time Capsules is highly recommended. If you plan to extend using wireless, the second Time Capsule will need to be located where it can receive a very good signal from the first.
