Reimporting Contact Book birthdays back into Calendar?

I had an odd issue that resulted in all of my birthday information in my phone contacts and on my calendar up and disappearing. This happened both in Outlook 2007 and on my iPhone, so I don't know which blew away the other, just that they're gone. I was able to get the contact birthday information back, but I've been unable to get either Outlook or my iPhone to dump the appropriate information back into either calendar. Anyone have any idea how to force either program to reimport the data back into their respective calendars?

Just like you all, I suffered from this problem with a WindOHNOs machine. I too couldn't find a solution since 99% of the forums listed iCal fixes. So... I did it on my own. Now I'll have to warn you up front, the solution isn't pretty, or extremely fast, but don't fret, you wont be manually editing every single contact (well, kind of).
Follow these steps:
1. Go into outlook and open your calendar
2. Select View -> Arrange By -> Current View -> Annual Events
NOTE: All of your contacts that have birthday listed SHOULD show up on this page now. No they are not events yet; Yes its dumb that outlook 'knows' they're annual events but doesn't put them on the Calendar; Yes be patient.
3. With a contact highlighted, hit CTRL+A, which is the command to select all the items that populate that list. Alternatively, you could hit HOME then SHIFT + END to select the entire list as well. Whatever.
4. Right click any one of the contacts that are all highlighted, and select "Open Items"
NOTE: Outlook will warn you that opening alot of items may take a long time and doesn't recommend it. I opened 280 contacts almost instantly, no lock up or slowing, on a craptop, so don't fret and just agree to it.
5. With all those windows open (stop crying, I know its alot), get your fingers ready. No we're not going to have to click around everywhere and take a million years. Just some fast finger work is all.
6. Push ALT + U, ALT + Y, ENTER, ALT + S
NOTE: What you're doing here is manually selecting the recurrence button, then selecting yearly for the recurrence, then closing that window, then saving and closing that contact. You can click all that with your mouse, but getting into a rhythm on your keyboard makes it so you don't have to look at the screen and can go as fast as you can type perfectly.
7. Once you get the rotation down, it will start to be like this, ALTS,+U,Y, ENTER, ALTS,+U,Y, ENTER, etc etc etc.
Before you go on a diatribe saying how ghetto this is, realize you can do each contact in about a second and a half, so anyone should be done in about 5 minutes if you keep your pace up.
The reason I did it this way is that there's no way to mass-change all of your contacts' settings for the recurrence of the birthdays built into Outlook. None. There ARE third party programs you can use, but every single one I found cost money ($30 for some stupid keystrokes? no thanks.) This is a ghetto, jury-rigged solution that isn't pretty, but you cant complain about it taking a long time. Sack up and just do it, its a one-time fix, so get over it.
Cheers,
Chris

  • Problems saving/reimporting edited PPT slides back into Cap5/Mac

Greetings, folks - 25 year Mac veteran here, new to this forum and Adobe products but an Apple Certified Pro w/emphasis on audio & video, experiencing some disappointment with Captivate 5/Mac's inability to integrate with PowerPoint as advertised.  I'm building a fairly straightforward presentation, making basic edits & changes to the .pptx and when the changes are saved and re-imported back into Captivate, they either fail to appear, or appear only in part.  In the interest of time, I'm having to work around by taking screen shots of the updated ppt slides and inserting them as images, over the Captivate slides which have failed to take the edits & updates.  FYI, running OSX 10.6.4, Captivate 5.0.0.596, Powerpoint 2008 for Mac v. 12.2.6 (100708) in case it matters.  Very grateful for any suggestions or assistance...thanks again, cheers!

Bump...anyone at Adobe, want to at least admit publicly that this is a 'known issue', or shall I just bill you for my testing time on an incomplete product?

  • HT4759 So I moved my contacts and calendars to icloud. THEN I find out that 2010 outlook is not supported--so how do I get all of my contacts and groups back into OUtlook 2010. It had better not be one at a time.

I moved my contacts and groups as well as calendars to icloud. Nor I can't use them in outlook 2010--which I now know is not supported--how do I reverse what I have done?

Outlook 2010 is supported, as is 2007.

  • Is there a way to get my book marks back into Safari from a TM backup?

Hello fellow Mac users. Is there a way to "restore" my wife's book marks from an earlier TM backup in safari?
My wife deleted a bunch of files on her MBP. I went back to an earlier days TM backup and restored things in her documents folder etc but when she went into Safari all of her book marks are gone. Is there a way to get them back from one of the TM back ups? There was also another user that was deleted. Can that be restored?
    Thanks Very Much!

To get the Safari bookmarks back, you need to locate the 'booksmarks.plist' file which should be located in the username/library/safari folder and replace the same file in the same folder for the user you want the bookmarks for.
As far as restoring a previous user, I'm not sure. It might be easier to just make a new one. You should still be able to get the files from the previous user from your Time Machine backup if that's what you intended. If you could restore a user, it would have to be by using Migration Assistant, although I couldn't say as to whether that would work.

  • Contact dates (birthday) to to calendar

On the Apple website explaining Contacts, it states " Or add birthdays, anniversaries, and important notes to any contact. You can even set a reminder that’s saved to your calendar." How do you set a reminder that's saved to the calendar?

I have been using an app called Occasions (iPhone only)  for a few years now and love it  This app allows you to put in entries for birthdays, anniversaries, or anything related to a calendar that you would like to track on an annual basis.  This app allows you to enter birthdays for grandchildren and others that you don't want to carry in your contacts.   You can select it to synchronize with your contacts and Facebook so you have all your birthdays, anniversaries and special dates all in one app.  Today I learned that there is a new version called Occasions+ (iPhone and iPad only) and this app has a feature that allows it to synchronize to your calendar in addition to all the features of the original version.   I created a new calendar called "Occasions" (new calendar so it doesn't clutter up my appointment calendar etc. and I can deselect it from the view) and have the app synchronize to it.  My calendars are on the cloud, so now I get the Occasions+ entries on my iPhone, iPad and iMac.   This does what I wanted.... and only for 99 cents.   I hope this works for you.

  • Audio help wanted exporting to QT and back into FCP.

I have a sequence with live sound on A1 and A2, music on A3 and A4 and some extra voice on A5 and A6. I have gone into audio outputs and clicked "6 outputs" and "dual mono" for each and tried checking all the options for "Discrete channels" "Stereo down mix" etc. Whatever happens when I reimport the QT movie into a fcp sequence I get the 6 tracks but the whole mix always ends up of 1 and 2 with the other tracks blank. How can I get all the tracks to carry accross individually all the way?

I've sent a test to the broadcaster using this method. When I reimported the QT file back into FCP it was possible to separate the live sound from the music etc. I'll have to hope it's OK otherwise I'll have to do the odd suggestion of the editor of converting all the audio files to AIFF and re-laying them into the project and then exporting the whole lot as a QT file.

After editing a RAW photo in PE13 (my External Editor) originally sent from Apple's iPhoto, I can not reimport the edited photo back into my iPhoto library. The
"Import to Library" command is greyed out. This was not the case until the latest PE13 update (Camera Raw Version 8.7.1.311). What needs to be done
to reimport edited photos back into my iPhoto library? Ideas?

Launch PSE Expert Mode and go to:
Photoshop Elements Editor >> Preferences >> Saving Files (tab)
    Set the drop-down dialog
On First Save : Save Over Current File
    Click OK.
When you have finished editing in PSE use Cmd+S to save (not Save As)

  • HT2513 Had to import Birthdays from yahoo calendar. Is there any way to move them to the iCal Birthdays calendar without manually inputing them each into Address Book?

I used to use Yahoo Calendar to manage my birthdays and notifications of them. Yahoo screwed with something, so now I no longer get birthday notification texts to my cell. Now, I've imported my Yahoo Calendar dates in to iCal. iCal has a Birthdays "subscription" calendar which only shows birthdays entered into the Address Book. I do not have any birthdays entered into Address Book. Is there any way to select birthday entries from my other calendars and move them to the birthdays tab, or must I manually enter over 200 birthdays into Address Book?
While I'm here, is there any way to highlight specific calendar entries and move them to a "new calendar"?
THanks in advance for any and all help.

looks like this is not yet an option via yahoo/sbc

The hard disc of my laptop has crashed and i lost all the data. Now I want to take back up of my I phone and transfer contacts , messages and music etc back into my laptop , how can I do that. Also let me know how I can transfer the contacts into Windows contacts from I phone. Pl help

Your content will only be where you put it.  It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
You can transfer itunes purchases from your iphone: File>Device>Transfer purchases.
You can import your pics taken with the iphone as you would with any digital camera.
You can e-mail the other pics to yourself, they will never be of the original quality.
You can out a unique contact and calendar entry on the computer.  You should get the option to merge the data when you sync.

  • HT1386 I have an older iPhone (3gs) and need to upgrade to a newer phone (4S).  I need to get my NOTES, CALENDAR, CONTACTS, PICTURES, etc backed up on iTunes so I can get that data loaded onto the new phone.  But not sure how to do that.

I have an older iPhone (3gs) and need to upgrade to a newer phone (4S).  I need to get my NOTES, CALENDAR, CONTACTS, PICTURES, etc backed up on iTunes so I can get that data loaded onto the new phone.  But not sure how to do that.  When I open iTunes it has a button that say "Back Up iPhone", but I'm not sure what that does.  When I go into the sync options it say I have another user account and asks me if I want to merge of replace. I'm assuming it's trying to tell me I have an older iTunes Library, but don't know that.  Geez, maybe people over 60 shouldn't have iPhones, iTunes just bafles me.

  • How do I get my contacts back into my personal folder

After syncing my Outlook 2010 Calendar and Contacts with the iCloud I have contacts only in icloud contacts and not in my personal contacts.  How can I restore my Contacts to my personal contacts folder?

My Outlook calendar emptied.   I have gone into ICloud and, cancelled the sync and I now have four calendars: Outlook's, Icloud, iCloud2, iCloud merge.  Deleting any one of the iCloud deletes all the data again.  And I seem to have to have these on for my Iphone/Ipad to sync calendar data.  Argh!
I should have learned my lesson when OS5 deleted some of the data from my Contacts, sometimes leaving the names without content, and added 000's of addresses of unknown people.
But at least I have my appointments back!  Even it means in quadruplicate.

  • Is there a way to retrieve my contacts back into my 3G iPhone?

Is there a way to retrieve my contacts back into my 3G iPhone?
I was trying to save my contacts by importing my contacts to my sim card by going into settings, mail-contacts and then hit the Import SIM Contacts.
It wiped out ALL of my contacts and I'm freaking out!!
    Can anyone please help?
Ps. My contacts was the ONLY data NOT sync'd to my iTunes! =(

You can import TO a SIM. To import, if you look at the button in settings says Import SIM Contacts. That means it is importing, or moving the contacts FROM the SIM to the iPhone. Importing means to take something from the area you are selecting and moving it to the current area, in other words, as others have told you, you imported what was ON the SIM card and since the iPhone does not store ANY information on the SIM, you imported NOTHING to a place that had something.
The way you save and backup contacts on an iPhone is to sync them through iTunes to a supported application on a computer such as Address Book on a Mac, Outlook or Windows Contacts on a Windows machine. If you did not do that prior to the Import attempt, then you will not be able to recover them.

  • Import icloud calendar back into outlook 2010?

New to iphone, prior android user: I 've been using outlook 2010 synced with gmail...worked great. Got my new Iphone, synced everything to Icloud.  Lost 3,700 appts in outlook calendar but they still show up on my phone and outlook (other calendars).  The problem is that I keep getting pop-ups stating that I deleted 3,700 appts in outlook, do I want to delete them in gmail.  I really don't,  I want to put everything back in outlook as it was.  Is there any way to do this?  Same with my contacts, I'd like them to be in outlook.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you....

I found sync options under "info"
I was looking to sync the information from the phone back into outlook, It looks like these options will sync what is on outlook into the phone..
I wanted to export from the phone (which has all of the old appointments and updated contacts) , back into outlook
    Any other thoughts?
    Thanks
